A crack with electrically impermeable surfaces in an electrostrictive material subjected to uniform electric loading is analysed. The effect of electric yielding on stress intensity factor is investigated by using a small scale yielding model and a strip yield zone model. Complete forms of electric fields and elastic fields are derived by using complex function theory. The electrical yield zone shapes for two models are different each other. The two models, however, predict similar yield zone sizes under the small scale yielding conditions. It is found that the influence of electric yielding on the stress intensity factor is insensitive to the modeling of the electrical yield zone shape.

Riparian buffer zone prevents sediment entry into drainage channels or as a protection from runoff and wind erosion. However, Studies about its removing effect according to Riparian buffer zone are shorted now. In this study, using the SWAT model, Byongseong watershed is built on the Arcview GIS. Using the function of the filter strip in SWAT model, it is also examined about the variation of sediment yield. As a simulation result, the case of constructing riparian buffer zones at subbasins near the outlet shows generally high efficiency on removing sediment yield. In addition, according to the scenario analysis of changing riparian buffer zone width, it is thought that 5-10m riparian buffer zone width is the highest efficiency on removing sediment yields generated from Byeongseong watershed.

This paper is about the yield rate of lower temperature furnace for wafer heat-treatment. The flat-zone that the temperature in furnace has uniform distribution specific area is the significant variable to the yield rate. In this study, we researched about the ways how to widen the flat zone in the furnace using CFD. As a result, we confirmed that the characteristic of the flat-zone was changed when SCU(Super Cooling Unit) was used. We considered temperature control with above.

A crack in a ferroelectric ceramic subjected to an electric field is analyzed. The boundary of the electrical saturation zone is estimated based on the finite-width saturation zone model, which is analogous to a finite-width Dugdale zone model for mode III. It is shown that the shape and size of the switching zone depends strongly on the boundary of the electrical saturation zone and the ratio of the coercive electric field to the yield electric field. The crack tip stress intensity factor under small scale conditions is evaluated by employing the model of electric nonlinear domain switching. It is found that fracture toughness of the ferroelectric material may be increased or decreased depending on the material property of electrical nonlinearity.

The effects of spot heating for growing the strawberry cultivated in a plastic greenhouse during the winter that were estimated in Nonsan strawberry experiment station located in Chungnam. The temperature of water for heating was controlled by a electric hot water boiler and kept at the range of $22{\sim}24^{\circ}C$. Heating pipes were set up in root zone for root zone heating and very close to crown for crown heating. Spot heating effects were estimated by applying spot heating system in three test factors of heating root zone, crown only and crown plus root zone. The material for crown heating pipe was white low density polyethylene and the nominal diameter of that pipe was 16 mm. The material for root zone heating pipe was flexible stainless steel and the nominal diameter of that pipe was 15A. The flow rate of heating water circulation was 480 L/h and water circulation lasted for all day long. Temperatures, harvest yield by test beds were surveyed from Nov. 10, 2013 to Apr. 29, 2014. The temperature of crown spot for crown heating bed was at the range of $13.0{\sim}17.0^{\circ}C$ during the night and that of crown spot in control bed was at the range of $8.0{\sim}14.0^{\circ}C$. Also, the temperature of root zone for root zone heating bed was at the range of $18{\sim}21.0^{\circ}C$ and that of root zone in control bed was at the range of $13.0{\sim}15.0^{\circ}C$. The cumulative yield growth rate in earlier harvest period (from Dec. 20 to Mar. 15) of crown heating bed was 43% compared with that of control bed and the cumulative yield of crown plus root zone heating bed was 39 % and that of root zone heating bed was 39 %.
Carbohydrate metabolism and partitioning are dependent on relationships between sources and sinks which can be affected by rates of photosynthesis and respiration. Fructan, the major form of stored carbohydrate in tall fescue (festuca arundineacea Schreb.), changes in concentration during growth and in response to the environment. Objectives of this study were i) to examine the content and the composition of carbohydrates in five tissues (mature leaf blade, immature leaf blade, leaf elongation zone, terminal meristem, and root tips) of two tall fescue genotypes, one with high yield per tiller (HYT) and one with low yield per tiller (LYT), and ii) to compare the reserved and utilized carbohydrates among above five different tissues, particularly between the leaf elongation zone and root tips. The established vegetative tillers of the HYT and LYT genotypes were grown in a controlled-environment growth chamber. Water-soluble carbohydrate (WSC) in the leaf elongation zone was about 22% of dry weight in the HYT and about 19% in the LYT genotype. The root tip also had high WSC, about 12% of dry weight in the HYT and 6% in the LYT genotype. Hexoses and sucrose were the major components of total WSC in all tissues except the leaf elongation zone. The growing tissues (sinks), i.e., the leaf elongation zone and root tip, had a high proportion of low degree of polymerization fructan, i.e., 3 to 8 hexose units.
In order to investigate the flexural bearing capacity of panel zone of diaphragm-through joint between concrete filled square steel tubular column and steel beam, four specimens were tested under static tension loads to study the mechanical properties and bearing capacity of diaphragm-through joints with a failure mode of panel zone. Finite element models of these specimens were developed to simulate the test and compare the predicted failure modes, load-displacement curves and bearing capacities with the experimentally observed. It was found that the tensile load from the steel beam flange is mainly shared by the square steel tube and the diaphragm. The diaphragm plastic zone appears along the cross-section lines enclosed by the square steel tube and the influence of steel beam web on the plastic zone of the steel tube is significant and cannot be neglected. Computational models of yield lines on square steel tube and diaphragm are established based on the distribution pattern of the plastic zone, and an analytical method for the evaluation of the bearing capacity of the joint is proposed. The theoretical results and the experimental data are compared and found in good agreement.

This experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of root zone heating on the growth of cut minirose Rosa hybrida L. ′Little Marble′ in winter season. Effects of four different root zone temperatures of 16, 20, 24$^{\circ}C$ and non-heating control on the growth and productivity were compared. Harvested cut-flowers were measured for stem length, stem diameter, fresh and dry weights, numbers of leaves, stems and flowers, days to flower, and chlorophyll concentration. The results showed that mean height was the greatest at 16$^{\circ}C$. Days to flower was the shortest at 24$^{\circ}C$. Fresh and dry weights of top (shoot+leaf+flower), shoot and leaf were the greatest at 2$0^{\circ}C$. Stem and flower numbers were the greatest at 16$^{\circ}C$, but leaf number was the greatest at 2$0^{\circ}C$. Mean cut flower yield was the greatest at 16$^{\circ}C$. Chlorophyll concentration was slightly higher at 16$^{\circ}C$, but was not significantly different among the treatments. Stem diameter was the greatest at 2$0^{\circ}C$. Dry matter was the greatest at 24$^{\circ}C$. Total yield of cut rose stems increased with increasing temperature. Combined heating could save 24% in fuel cost as compared to the air heating alone. The results obtained suggested that optimal root zone temperature for the growth of cut rose "Little Marble" was 2$0^{\circ}C$, and the greenhouse heating energy can be saved by minimal air heating combined with root zone heating to 2$0^{\circ}C$.
Glasshouse investigations were carried out to investigate the development and yield of Atylosia scarabeoides on soils of the northern guinea savanah zone of Nigeria. Seeds were sown at four rates 50, 75, 100 and 125 kg/ha. Single superphosphate (SSP) fertilizer was applied at sowing at four rates 0, 60, 90 and 120 kg/ha. Seeding (plant) population at one month and at harvest was significantly (p < 0.01) influenced by seeding rate but not fertilizer level. Fresh herbage yield was strongly (p < 0.01) dependent on fertilizer level, with the highest (not significant) dry matter yield at 90 kg SSP/ha. Seeding rate had no significant effects on herbage yield. The crude protein content of herbage rose with increase in fertilizer level although there were no significant differences between the various seeding and phosphorus rates. No significant interactions were observed between seeding rate and phosphorus lever. The yields were generally high, indicating good prospects for pasture development with A. scarabeoides in the zone, although field trials would be of benefit.
