유기질비료와 토양 미생물제제의 시용이 배추(Brassiea campestris L.)와 상추(Lactuca sativa L.)의 수량에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Brassiea campestris L. and Lactuca sativa L. Yield by Application of Organic Fertilizers and Microorganisms)

  • 돈분발효퇴비(P)와 혼합유박비료(B, F), 부산물퇴비(D) 4종의 유기질비료와 토양 미생물제제(M)의 시용 효과를 규명하기 위하여 배추와 상치를 공시작물로 시설하우스에서 재배하면서 생육 및 수량을 조사하였다. 유기질비료의 추천 시비량 처리구에서 수량이 가장 좋았으며, 과량 처리구에서는 비해가 발생하였으나, 미생물제제의 혼용에 의해 현저한 비해 감소 현상을 볼 수 있었다. 또한 같은 비종 및 동일한 시용량 처리구에서도 미생물제제를 혼용하였을 때 생육이 안정되었으며, 수량도 높은 경향을 보였다. 결론적으로 유기질비료의 과량처리는 비해가 발생할 수 있으며, 미생물제제의 시용으로 생육 및 수량이 향상되었다.

Seven Days of Consecutive Shade during the Kernel Filling Stages Caused Irreparable Yield Reduction in Corn (Zea mays L.)

  • In monsoon climates, persistent shade is a troublesome weather condition with an impact on the growth and yield of corn (Zea mays L.). We imposed 7, 14, 21, and 28 days of consecutive shade (CS) on Gwangpyeongok and P3394 corn hybrids at the beginning of the kernel filling stages. Shade had little impact on leaf area and dry matter accumulation in the stem and leaves. However, dry matter accumulation in the ear was severely reduced by approximately 28% and 53% after 14 and 28 days of CS, respectively. For the components of grain yield, 7 and 14 days of shade did irreparable damage to the number of filled kernels, the kernel number per ear row, and the percent of filled kernels, but did little damage or reversible damage after removal of the shade to the 100-grain weight and the row number per ear. Shade significantly reduced the relative growth rate (RGR) due to a decrease in the net assimilation rate (NAR). These results suggest that source activity limitation by shade during the kernel filling stages leads to the inhibition of sink activity and size. The yield of biomass, ear, and grain logistically declined as the length of CS increased. Probit analysis revealed that the number of days of CS needed to cause 25% and 50% reductions in grain yield were 3.7 and 23.1, respectively. These results suggest that the plant yield loss induced by shade at the beginning of the kernel filling stages is mainly achieved within the first 7 days of consecutive shade.

  • Unbond brace hysteretic dampers are generally used to prevent or decrease structural damage in buildings subjected to strong earthquake by its energy dissipating hysteretic behavior. According to a previous research, the optimum ratio of device yield strength to story yield strength of the combined system has been identified as the most important parameter for characterizing the performance of this device. In this research, the validity and the applicability of the previous research has been investigated and a new approach has been proposed through earthquake response analysis of a steel structure installed with unbond brace type hysteretic damper.

버어리종 담배의 이식시기가 수량 및 polyphenols의 종류와 함량에 미치는 영향 (Effect on the yield and kind, content of polyphenols under different transplanting time in burley tobacco)

  • To find out the effect of transplanting time on the autonomic characters, yield of cured leaves and content of polyphenols in burley tobacco, three transplanting time were evaluated. The results obtained are as follows. Low temperature which was caused damage earliest stage of tobacco in early transplanting could escape by vinyl mulching and other treatment. 2. The major polyphenols in leaves were chlorogenic acid and rutin, small amount of scopolin and quercetin were also detected. 3. Chlorogenic acid decreased during curing. 4. Polyphenols content was not influenced by transplanting time.

  • HDPE smooth and textured GMs were cut into dumbbell shape and notched where depth of the notch produced a ligament thickness of 90% to 10% of the nominal thickness of the specimen at 10% interval. Yield stress and elongation were measured of those samples and plotted on Graph. Yield stress and elongation at yield point decreases gradually as the notch depth is increased. Both installations damaged and notched GMs were used to understand stress crack behavior. Intact sample were notched in such a manner that the depth of notch produced a ligament thickness of 80% of the nominal thickness of the specimen. Installation damaged samples were not notched. Stress Crack Resistance behavior was observed using NCTL Test at $50{\pm}1^{\circ}C$ at different yield stresses immerging with pH 4 and pH 12 buffer solutions. Significant difference was observed in both cases.

Damage states of yielding and collapse for elevated water tanks supported on RC frame staging

  • Elevated water tanks are inverted pendulum type structures where drift limit is an important criterion for seismic design and performance evaluation. Explicit drift criteria for elevated water tanks are not available in the literature. In this study, probabilistic approach is used to determine maximum drift limit for damage state of yielding and damage state of collapse for the elevated water tanks supported on RC frame staging. The two damage states are defined using results of incremental dynamic analysis wherein a total of 2160 nonlinear time history analyses are performed using twelve artificial spectrum compatible ground motions. Analytical fragility curves are developed using two-parameter lognormal distribution. The maximum allowable drifts corresponding to yield and collapse level requirements are estimated for different tank capacities. Finally, a single fragility curve is developed which provides maximum drift values for the different probability of damage. Further, for rational consideration of the uncertainties in design, three confidence levels are selected and corresponding drift limits for damage states of yielding and collapse are proposed. These values of maximum drift can be used in performance-based seismic design for a particular damage state depending on the level of confidence.

Characterization of Subsurface Damage in Si3N4 Ceramics with Static and Dynamic Indentation

  • Silicon nitride is one of the most successful engineering ceramics, owing to a favorable combination of properties, including high strength, high hardness, low thermal expansion coefficient, and high fracture toughness. However, the impact damage behavior of $Si_3N_4$ ceramics has not been widely characterized. In this study, sphere and explosive indentations were used to characterize the static and dynamic damage behavior of $Si_3N_4$ ceramics with different microstructures. Three grades of $Si_3N_4$ with different grain size and shape, fine-equiaxed, medium, and coarse-elongated, were prepared. In order to observe the subsurface damaged zone, a bonded-interface technique was adopted. Subsurface damage evolution of the specimens was then characterized extensively using optical and electron microscopy. It was found that the damage response depends strongly on the microstructure of the ceramics, particularly on the glassy grain boundary phase. In the case of static indentation, examination of subsurface damage revealed competition between brittle and ductile damage modes. In contrast to static indentation results, dynamic indentation induces a massive subsurface yield zone that contains severe micro-failures. In this study, it is suggested that the weak glassy grain boundary phase plays an important role in the resistance to dynamic fracture.

필지내 벼 수량의 공간변이 해석 (Spatial Variability Analysis of Paddy Rice Yield in Field)

  • 논 포장에 있어서 벼 수량의 연차별 공간변이를 살펴보기 위해 포장면적, 조사 년도, 조사방법 및 재배품종 등이 각각 다른 안성포장, 수원포장, 쿄토포장에서 수집된 수량정보를 이용하여 기술통계와 함께 공간통계학적 개념을 도입하여 해석한 결과 아래와 같은 결과를 얻었다. (1) 포장면적, 조사 년도, 조사방법 그리고 품종에 따라 한 필지의 포장 내 수량분포는 100-946 kg/10a의 큰 변이를 보였고, 최대수량과 최소수량의 차이는 272-653 kg/10a를 보였으며, 변이계수는 5.9-22.4%의 큰 공간변이를 보였다. (2) 수량빈도 분포로부터 보면 약 90 % 이상의 수량이 10 a당 350-850kg의 수량범위를 나타내었다. 이 결과에 따르면 4조식 콤바인의 평균 작업속도를 0.8 m/s로 가정하고 평균수량이 350-850kg/10a이라고 한다면, 수확량 모니터링 시스템 개발에 있어서 초당 곡립유량은 0.34-0.82kg으로 산정 되므로 곡물유량센서를 개발함에 있어서 이 수량범위를 작동범위에 포함시켜야 할 것으로 판단되었다. (3) 수량정보의 공간의존성 해석결과에 의하면 수량의 공간구조를 나타내는 Q값은 0.20-0.97이며, 그 의존거리를 표시하는 범위는 6.9-53.3m로 나타났다. 따라서, 이 시험결과에 의하면 수량정보의 이론적인 샘플링 간격은 6.9 m 이내가 적정하다고 판단되었다. (4) 논 포장에 있어서 유사한 포장관리를 함에도 불구하고 수량의 연차별 차이가 발생하는 또 다른 주원인은 연차별 기상조건과 병$.$해충 발생 정도로 생각되며, 정밀농업을 논 포장에 적용함에 있어서 포장정보 외의 이러한 외적인 정보들도 데이터베이스화할 필요성이 있었다.

Experimental Investigations on the Plastic Damage of Plates due to Lateral Collisions

  • In this paper the results are reported of sixty-nine lateral collision tests, which were performed to investigate the collision resistance of plates. For the tests a collision testing machine of spring-roller conveyer type was designed and fabricated. Using this machine, various plates were tested with different masses and velocities and various headers of the striker. A simple analytical method has also been developed to predict the extent of damage of struck plates due to lateral collision. In the method, it is assumed that the kinetic energy of the striker can be dissipated by the formation of yield lines and membrane tensions in the impacted plate. The calculated predictions of extent of damage using the developed method have been substantiated with the test results, which shows reasonably acceptable correlations.

Lipid Peroxidation Product-Mediated DNA Damage and Mutagenicity

  • Membrane lipid peroxidation processes yield products that may react with DNA to cause mutations. Lipid hydroperoxides from linoleic acid in the presence of transition metal ions caused strand breaks in plasmid DNA. DNA damage induced by reactive aldehydes known to be produced by decomposition of lipid hydroperoxides, such as 4-hydroxynonenal or rnalondialdehyde, was repaired by endonucleases and exonuclease III which resulted in the increase of single strand breaks in DNA. Lipid hydroperoxides as well as malondialdehyde and 4-hydroxynonenal also caused mutations in the pUC18 lacZ' gene when measured as a loss of ${\alpha}-cornplementation$. In conclusion. the lipid peroxidation could be an important intermediary event in DNA damage and mutation by oxidative stress.
