부산지역 해양교육 현황 및 활성화 방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Status and Revitalization of Ocean Education in Busan)

  • 부산은 세계 3위의 최대 컨테이너 항만시설과 물류시스템을 갖추고 있는 해양도시이지만, 부산시민의 해양의식은 이에 미치지 못하고 있다. 이에 부산지역 해양교육의 현황을 분석하여, 부산지역 해양교육의 문제점을 분석하고 이를 활성화시킬 수 있는 방안을 제시하였다. 이를 통해 부산시가 해양도시로써 명성을 이어가고 건전한 친수문화의 조성과 해양문화를 널리 전파할 수 있을 것이다.

An Estimation of Water Structure and Dynamics in the East/Japan Sea Shelf Zone Using Acoustic Tomography

  • When evaluating acoustic methods for measuring physical parameters in the ocean, economical and technical considerations are paramount. As an indirect method of estimating ocean dynamics, acoustic tomography has advantages over more conventional approaches. It allows the reconstruction of temperature and flow fields from the acoustic impulse time-of-flight measured along the rays propagating from the source to the receiver. However, many problems require complicated and expensive systems. To use the acoustic tomography method to best effect, developing hardware systems with sources and receivers mounted permanently on the sea bottom is crucial. Akulichev et al. presented some experimental results from shallow zones of the World Ocean that served as a motive for developing a multifunction system with acoustic hardware and software. Here we present technical features and the sea test results of the system.

KCS 선형의 4자유도 조종성능 추정 (Prediction of Maneuverability of KCS with 4 Degrees of Freedom)

  • This paper presents the results of prediction of maneuverability of KCS about 4 degree of freedom(DOF) including roll motion. The prediction is carried out by CPMC captive model test. The CPMC(Computerized Planar Motion Carriage) with captive model test equipment including roll moment gage is installed at Ocean Engineering Tank of MOERI. KCS is the container ship open to the world by MOERI. To predict the 4 DOF maneuverability of a ship some tests with roll angle are conducted. And the prediction results of maneuverability by simulation are compared with the results of free running model test. The simulation results agree well with those of free running model tests.

  • Ocean waves are mighty and powerful. Humans have explored the possibility of harnessing this mighty power for decades now. Estimated as suffice, if only, a fraction of this energy is captured and harnessed, the worry for decrease in fossil fuels diminishes and the current energy consumption of the world can be met. Though different types of methods and devices for extracting energy from this nonstop, free source has been proposed, a handful of them have reached commercialization and others are on the verge. This paper discusses the journey so far in terms of devices that have been developed or prototypes proposed or commercialized. Only a list full of them have been discussed though they exist in numbers.

A Preliminary Structural Design Study on High Performance Container Crane

  • After the introduction of the World Trade Organization, large scale container ships are being used as a means of transportation for international trade. Therefore, improving the loading and unloading capability of container quays is the most economic way, considering the cost needed for the establishment or expansion of container quays. In this paper, a new container cargo handing system that is equipped with a high performance container crane is suggested. A structural analysis on the container crane is also conducted to decide the form and size of structural member scantlings, using NASTRAN, which is a general structure analysis program.

  • A fact that limits a company's ability to achieve more of its goal is referred to as a 'constraint' shipbuilding industries need to identify and manage constraints. The theory of constraints is evolved out of the problems of bottleneck formation. This happens and is conserved for the formulation if various real time problems for arriving standard uniquely addressed problems If, for example, the goal of a shipbuilding industry is to make money now and in the future, it is suggested that TOC will enable th mangers of the company to do so. TOC, focuses the organization scare resources on improving the performance of the true constraints, and therefore the bottom line of the organization. An attempt is made for the implantation of the theory into real world shipyard decision support mechanism.

정지궤도 해색탑재체(GOCI)의 개발 (Development of Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI))

  • 정지궤도에서는 세계 최초로 개발된 정지궤도 해색위성(GOCI)이 2010년 6월에 발사될 예정이다. GOCI는 발사 이후 7년간 매일 주간(晝間) 8회 한반도 주변 해양의 클로로필 농도, 용존유기물 농도, 부유물질의 양 등 해양환경분석자료를 생산함으로써 한반도 주변 해양환경의 실시간 감시 임무를 수행할 계획이다. 정지궤도 해색위성의 관측 자료는 어장정보 제공 서비스 및 적조 등 해양재해 예측에 활용될 예정이며, 정지궤도 해색위성에서 산출된 해양의 일차생산력 자료는 해양 탄소순환 연구에 활용되어 해양의 기후변화를 연구하는 데 유용하게 활용될 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 정지궤도 해색위성의 개발 배경 및 사용자 요구사양, 하드웨어 구조, 센서 운용 개념에 대해 설명한다.

  • Modernization of a port requires a considerable port facility expansion through grading up the cargo handling efficiency, increasing water depth of channels and basins to accomodate Large ships, etc. In many ports in the world, the needs of bigger ship calls in excess of conventional capacity of channels and basins demand for capital dredging as well as maintenance dredging resulting from siltation, and those activities are incurring heavy annual expenditure of the ports.   • To meet the increasing demand for energy around the world, offshore and subsea energy development is constantly being conducted. This trend is accompanied by an increasing demand for pipeline installation, which brings numerous problems, including those related to accessibility, high pressure, and corrosion. Among these, corrosion is a primary factor in pipeline fractures, and can cause severe environmental and industrial damage. Hence, accurate corrosion assessment for corroded pipelines is very important. For this reason, the present study investigated the mechanical behavior of an idealized corroded subsea pipeline with an internal/external pressure load using the commercial FEA code ABAQUS. Then, the analysis result was compared with corrosion assessment codes such as ASME B31G, DNV RP F101, ABS. Finally, a fitness-for-service assessment was conducted.

  • Today distant oceans around the world are regarded as a major 'global commons' for international trade and transportation. Korea is not an exception, because Korea hugely depends on sea lines of communication (SLOC) for supplying vital commodities such as food and energy resource. As a result, assuring a free and safe use of distant ocean beyond territory is also an important agenda for Korea's maritime security. However there are a number of challenges for Korea to enjoy a free and safe use of distant ocean; dangers of regional maritime conflict in East Asia, naval arms race of China and Japan, and concerns on possible decline of U.S naval presence and power projection capabilities. These factors provide a reasonable basis for Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN) to pursue capabilities for major naval operations at distant ocean in a long-term perspective toward the year 2030. The introduction of aircraft carrier and nuclear-powered submarine is a key requirement for achieving this goal. ROKN needs to acquire a 'multi-role strategic landing platform' type of light aircraft carrier, which takes a role to escort naval task force by providing air superiority at distant ocean. Additionally nuclear-powered submarine will offer ROKN a formidable power to carry out offensive missions effectively at distant ocean.
