중국 품목별 수출입이 세계 경제에 미치는 영향 실증분석 (The Impacts of Chinese Seaborne Trade Volume on The World Economy)

  • 세계은행 통계에 따르면 2013~2016년 기간 중 세계 경제 성장에 대한 중국의 기여도는 31.6%인 것으로 나타났다. 이는 미국, EU 및 일본의 기여도를 합한 29.0%에 비해 높은 수치로서 중국 경제가 세계 경제에 미치는 영향력이 상당히 크다고 볼 수 있다. 본 연구는 중국의 주요 품목별(화학제품, 곡물, 철재, 원유, 컨테이너) 연도별 수출입 해상물동량이 세계 경제성장에 미치는 영향을 시계열 데이터 분석 모형을 적용하여 분석하였다. 총 분석기간은 1999~2016년이며, 제1기(1999~2007년)와 제2기(2008~2016년)의 시기별 분석을 수행함으로써 중국 무역이 세계 경제에 미치는 영향력 측면에서 시기별로 어떠한 구조적 변화가 발생했는지 조명하였다. 특히 대다수 선행연구들이 세계 무역이 세계 경제에 미치는 영향력을 분석하였다면, 본 연구는 중국 무역의 영향력을 분석하여 세계 무역 대국으로 부상하고 있는 중국을 집중적으로 분석하였다는 데 의의가 있다.

  • Development and implementation of food irradiation was driven by needs pertaining to food safety improvement, food spoilage reduction, and quarantine/trade. The need for food safety is caused by the increasing morbidity and mortality caused by food-borne diseases worldwide, and it affects national economy and world-trade. Radiation technology can serve to ameliorate the vulnerability of our food supply system.

  • High oil price and global warming problem are being continued all over the world. For this reason, fuel economy and emission of greenhouse gas are regulated by law in many countries. Therefore many companies are researching and producing hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) which substitute conventional internal combustion engine vehicle. However, these researches and productions are restricted to mainly passenger cars. Because of cost and physical problems, commercial vehicles are difficult to evaluate fuel economy. So simulations are important and it is necessary to know how sensitive parameters that enter into simulation affect. In this paper, forward simulations using AVL Cruise were conducted for analysis of fuel economy for parallel hybrid bus and were repeated by changing each parameter. Based on these results, root mean square errors (RMSE) are calculated for analysis of fuel economy sensitivity. The number of target parameters are 15. These parameters were classified with high and low sensitivity parameter relatively.

국내외 경제변화가 인천경제 및 인천국제공항에 미치는 영향분석 (A Study on the Effects of Domestic and Foreign Economic Change to Incheon Economy and Incheon International Airport)

  • 본 연구는 국내외 경제변화가 인천경제 및 인천국제공항에 미치는 영향에 대한 실증적 분석을 시도하였다. OECD회원국, 인천광역시와 인천국제공항을 연구대상으로 2001년 인천국제공항 개항 이후 11년간의 경제변화를 시계열 자료를 이용하여 다중회귀분석과 경로분석을 시도하였다. 연구결과, 국내외 경제변화는 인천경제 및 인천국제공항의 성장 및 활성화에 정(+)의 영향을 보여주지 않았으며 국제경제요인은 인천경제에 직접적으로 정(+)의 영향을 보였으나 한국경제와 연관된 총 효과는 부(-)의 영향을 보였다. 따라서 인천경제는 국내외 거시경제변화요인에 능동적으로 대응해야 할 뿐 만 아니라 내발적 성장방안이 요구되며 이를 위한 방법론으로 공항도시 조성의 필요성을 제시하였다.

  • By the middle of 2018 there are signs of China's entry into a new period of development, characterized by a change in the old model: "market reforms-inner-party democratization - moderate foreign policy" to another: "market reforms - Xi Jinping personality cult - offensive foreign policy." This model contains the risks of arising of the contradiction between economic freedom and political-ideological rigidity which can lead to destabilization of the political life. However, in the current positive economic dynamics, these risks may come out, rather, in the medium and long term. Today, the political situation in China remains stable - despite growing dissatisfaction in scientific expert and educational circles due to increased control over the intellectual sphere by the authorities. The need for a new redistribution of power between central and provincial authorities could potentially disrupt political stability in the medium term, but, at the moment, is not a critical negative factor. The economic situation is positive-stable. Forecasts indicate a possible increase in China's GDP in 2018 at 6.5%. At the same time, there are negative expectations in connection with the Sino-US and potentially Sino-European "trade war". In the Chinese foreign policy, as a response to Western pressure, China increasingly uses the Russian direction of its diplomacy in the expanded version of Russia + SCO. The nuance here is seen in China's adjusted approach to the SCO: first of all, not as a mechanism for cooperation with Russia, but as an organization that allows using Russia's potential for pressure on the US in the Sino-US strategic rivalry. In the second half of 2018, the Chinese economy will continue to develop steadily, albeit with unresolved traditional problems (debts of provinces and state-owned enterprises, ineffective state sector, risks on the financial and real estate market). In politics, discontent with the cult of Xi will accumulate, but without real threats to its power. Weakening in economic opposition between China and the United States is possible due to Beijing's search for compromises on tariffs, intellectual property, trade deficit. To find such trade-offs, Xi will use the so-called. "Personal diplomacy" of direct contacts with Trump.

Applications of Sugarcane by-products to mitigate climate change in Ethiopia

  • Climate change is one of the major issues in both the developed and developing world. Greenhouse gas (GHG) emission is one of the implications for climate change. It is increasing rapidly. Although the emission is much less when compared to the rest of the world, Ethiopia has also faced this global issue. The major source for GHG emission in Ethiopia is agriculture. Therefore, the agriculture sector has to be given more attention in Ethiopia. To overcome the problem, Climate-Resilient Green Economy (CRGE) strategy has been initiated. One way of executing this target is to create a sustainable and environmentally friendly pathway to use agricultural byproducts. Sugarcane is one of the major plants in Ethiopia. Its byproducts are bagasse, molasses, and press mud. Since it is a waste product, it is economical and creates a sustainable and green environment by reducing GHG emissions. Sugarcane byproducts have versatile applications like as fuel, as cement replacing material, as a mitigation for expansive soils, as biosorbent for the treatment of water and wastewater and also as a wood material. However, Ethiopia has not used this byproduct massively as it is readily available. This paper reviews the possible applications of sugarcane byproducts to mitigate climate change.

The Effect of FTA's Results on China Distribution Company

  • Purpose - The world economy is changing with FTA. Lots of FTAs are going on between countries and economic blocs in the world economy as the battle field of FTA. This study is aims to suggest a practical data about Korea-China FTA by analyzing an economic ripple effect and main issues on Korea-China FTA negotiation. Research design, data, and methodology - This study analyzes the economic impact and major issues expected during the promotion period of Korea-China FTA, and promoted the purpose of this research with literature review and comparative analysis. Result - FTA agreement with China is expected to contribute to Korean economic growth by bringing effectiveness of securing and resolving mutual trade conflict, and one-sided trade protection control of Chinese domestic demand market. The potentiality between United States and Korea is also very important issue. Conclusions - To minimize the adverse effects of FTA and to maximize the positive effects on the logistics industry, the Correspondence strategy is suggested based on the effects of FTA after analyzing the entire situation of the logistics. Especially, this article places emphasis on a close cooperation system between the government agencies to get a good conclusion from the negotiation even if the e-Commerce issue to be a critical point under Korea-China FTA.

Studies on Supply and Demand Paradox in Shipping Market

  • Purpose - The purpose of the paper is to examine disconnection between supply and demand shipping market, which means shipowner has determined to raise capacity in bust period. Research design, data, and methodology - The research method to be applied is first to look into conceptual theory about shipping market, and then to study imbalance of supply and demand situations in shipping on crisis, and next, to analyses paradoxical aspects traced. Results - Shipping market is a volatile and cyclic characteristics, and its situations have to be examined very carefully. Since financial crisis has broken up in 2008, it is natural to think that world trade volumes has reduced rapidly, which means demand for shipping service has fallen, and accordingly, tonnage should be stagnated as well. However, shipping companies have put capacity into market as unexpectedly. This is because of economy of scale and time lag. Here, this can be explained in terms of paradox that is proved in this paper. Conclusions - From careful research in this paper, it is found that supply and demand are not always got along with market situations, in other words supply side could be working well, in spite of depression time of demand situations in world shipping markets.

Studies on Problems Caused by Distribution of Larger Vessels in World Shipping Market

  • Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to seek some alternative to overcome difficult shipping situations for overcapacity pursuing economy of scale, which is widely spread in world shipping. Research design, data, and methodology - The research method to be adopted is first to review evolution of larger ships in terms of theoretical overview, and shipping market is examined, and it is studied some problems and solutions in relation to larger ship as field research aspects. Results - Supply and demand of shipping market is flexible and unpredictable nature of market. Sometime fierce competition has spread out the market, and shipowner may deploy mega ship in terms of economy of scale, etc., to overcome the difficult market situations. Both carrier and shipper have their own positions in this matter concerned. However, it causes some problems in the market including port matters, etc. Therefore, it is asked to solve this problems of larger ship employed in the markets, throughout shipping alliances, etc. Conclusions - Over tonnage done by larger ship has caused some problems in the shipping markets, forming monopolistic market by small number of larger shipping companies, destroying oligopolistic nature of shipping business, therefore, the answer is strategic alliance to collaborate each other.
