Due to the information technology improvement and the changing life style, a home is getting a new role of workspace besides the main function as rest area for the family members. Therefore, a demand for the home workstation furniture is increasing nowadays. In this study, three types of workstation furniture id designed, that makes possible the effective works and reflects the characteristics of the house. 1. Panel-based system furniture : main concept is flexibility and expandability, and various units can be composed as desired. 2. Cabinet-type workstation : all functions needed for the home office work is concentrated in a piece of furniture. 3. Movable multi-purpose furniture : small-sized, mobile furniture that functions as a simple workstation or a side station. Home office has a great possibility as a work place for the future, and there is a continuous need for the furniture design with diverse form and function.

The purpose of this study is to suggest the color scheme based on the color image types through the color analysis of workstation furniture which is on the market. This color scheme of the workstation furniture is expected to be give the comfort to office environment when planning office. For this study, It is selected the three furniture firms that have a brand of office furniture and their web site that is showed color sample of furniture. The following researches are drawn based upon the purpose. First, the color image types of interior space is classified and the color image words that are suitable for each types is extracted based on the results of existing literature. Second, the distribution of its hue and tone is analysed after collecting the each firm's color sample of desk top, panel and chair. Third, the color image appearing in each furniture color is analysed by color image scale positioning. Forth, the color scheme of desk top, panel and chair is suggested by its color scheme palette. The result of this study is expected to help comfortable environment by providing the color scheme for selection of furniture color in work space. Not all color of each furniture is sufficient to be combined color scheme, the result is indicated that the color scheme of workstation by color image types is possible for color planning in office environment.

This study aims at the development of office desk system considering variability to realize various typed desks. The opened and variable workstation for good communications and team work between team members has maintained since 2000. Recently, owing to the growth of knowledge industry and the promotion of office environment, the differentiated workstations are being organized by the type of business. Such a trend reflects that users are requiring a variety of office desks. Therefore, this study focuses on systematic variability to solve a variety of workstations required for office space. The object of this study also includes the basic typed-desks and the other desks realized from variable work. This study also aims at the practical variability to feel all the users and manufactures by realizing 6 kinds of desks with the smallest parts. Consequently, it verifies that the systematization can get a designed unity, it is easy for users or manufactures to assemble and disassemble the systematized desks in office space, where the users can often change the workstation with their compatible parts. It is also thought interior designers should carry out a variety of studies on system workstaion, based on the advanced variability.

An office is understood as a system consisted of three subsystem : office work, technology and organization. In the age of information, an office is a complicated device in an organization to create, process, modify and deliver various information for organizational goals. The purpose of this study is to provide design guidelines on office workstations based on the analysis of employees' preference and work-style responding to current changes of an organization and work process. Through a literature survey, the study briefly reviewed characteristics of interior design to find changing factors and directions of office interior. Work characteristics in an office are analyzed based on information, activity and communication characteristics while office environment is analyzed based on physical and technological factors. Finally, questionnaire items are derived from a critical comparison between work characteristics and workstation organization(furniture etc) factor. workplace strategies by preference are suggested to increase office productivity, employee satisfaction and to reduce space costs.

One of the major changes in the information era is that the concept of workplace is changing, Therefore this research is to provide basic data for future home office design by surveying office workers's opinions about preferred design for home office. This research is based on a survey of 215 office workers in Seoul. The major findings are ; Office workers prefer an isolated type of workplace that is arranged by U-shped workstation at home. Office workers preferred ivory color of walls and ceiling in home office, Brown color for the floor and brown ivory beige green and grey colors are preferred for the furniture. For home office furniture office workers put to an importance on desk chair computer table cabinet filbox sofa mobil lack credenza, and tea table.

The purpose of this study is to examine the physical factors of work environment and to establish the evaluation factors for office design for wheelchair users. This study is based on the existing research for office environmental factors; and then clarifies the physical factors that are suitable for circumstances of wheelchair users. These factors are composed three physical factors which are space, furniture arrangement, and ambient condition and then each of these factors has detailed several elements. Futhermore, comparing physical factors between a non-wheelchair user and a wheelchair user with work environment is analyzed on the assumption using the system furniture on the market. This study is expected to be used as basic information to provide the way of improving office space plan for wheelchair user in workplace. This resource can serve as a checklist when renovating, re-designing or building a new office space for wheelchair users. The evaluation of office environmental factors for wheelchair users who work in public and/or private companies is needed for the next research.

As a preliminary study to evaluate the reliability of the calculation method of fire load for residential furniture combustibles, the present study estimates the fire load considering the volume data obtained by the 3D geometrical information of combustibles and material properties based on the literature survey and sample burning test. A kitchen sink cabinet, couch and workstation were investigated for estimating its fire load and real fire test have been performed to measure total energy released from the combustibles. Based on total energy measured from real fire test, the relative error of the estimated fire load due to literature survey and measured material properties showed 6~120% and less than 20%, respectively. It shows that the estimation error of fire load are greatly affected by its material properties as well as geometrical information of combustibles and the present study will be able to contribute to accurate estimation of fire load.
