Verification specifications and results of the railway total safety technology development project adopting systems engineering (시스템 엔지니어링을 적용한 철도종합안전기술개발사업의 2차년도 성과물 검증 기준 및 결과)

  • To establish the national railway safety system, the railway total safety technology development project has been promoted by Ministry of Construction and Transportation (MOCT) since August 2004. The project is mainly focused on the prevention of a critical railway accident and the reduction of accident/mortality rate. To achieve its goal effectively, the project is composed of 15 sub-projects each of which can be categorized into three different technological area. This work deals with the verification results for the outcomes of the sub-projects carried out at the 2nd year of the project. A new verification procedure is developed and applied to the project based on the system engineering. Three criterions - The suitability of the realization of a function, the suitability of a physical structure, the suitability of a design analysis report - are used for the verifications. The verification results are investigated by calculating standard deviations of scores of each results.

The Relationships among the Service Education Satisfaction, Service Involvement, and Customer Orientation of Hospital Employees (의료기관 종사자의 고객접점 (MOT)서비스교육만족도, 고객지향성 및 서비스몰입 간의 관계)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to evaluate the relationships among the service education satisfaction, service involvement, and customer orientation of hospital employees after yearly-planned MOT service education. Methods: The data collection was done through the questionnaire survey in a university hospital located in D city from March 15 to 31, 2010. The statistical analysis was done by SPSS/WIN 18.0 program. Results: The enrolled employees were two hundred and seventy six. Among the characteristics of employees, adequate work load, good payment, reasonable promotion system, suitability of work aptitude and good relationships with staff improved the service education satisfaction, customer orientation, and service involvement of hospital employees. For the customer orientation, old age and lower educational background were positive factors. The correlations among the service education satisfaction, customer orientation, and service involvement of hospital employees were significant. The factors that affect customer orientation and service involvement were found to be age, suitability of work aptitude and service education satisfaction. Conclusion: In conclusion, customer orientation and service involvement were related with the satisfaction of employees for working condition and service education. In terms of good medical service quality, plans for maintaining adequate working environment and systematic service education should be established.

  • The trends in building construction these days are moving towards having better work space and greater suitability for the use of information technology, Therefore people can work in a more relaxed, delightful and pleasant environment. So accidents like fire could cause the mass destruction of human beings. In this paper, we estimated the escape time from a building and simulated the study results on computer to see how safe it would be in a real situation.

Job Satisfaction of Nutritionist: Effect on Organizational Commitment and Turnover Intention in Public Health Center (보건소 영양사의 직무만족도가 조직몰입과 이직의도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined the job satisfaction of nutritionists, and its effect on organizational commitment and turnover intention in public health centers. The response data of 174 nutritionists were analyzed. The overall average of job satisfaction was 3.94 out of 7 points, which was determined to be below 'normal'; however, the job suitability of sub-factors scored 5.26, which was more than 'normal'. The variables affecting job satisfaction that were provided by the respondents included job-related licenses (P<0.01) and co-nutritionists (P<0.01). Organizational commitment ranked 'normal' with a score of 4.35. Normative commitment (4.90) of the sub-factors was 'normal' or more, and differed when considering 'age' (P<0.01), 'employment status' (P<0.01), 'salary per year' (P<0.05), and 'working area' (P<0.05). The turnover intention was analyzed to be below 'normal' with 3.88 points, and the variables affecting turnover were significantly higher for subjects in their 20s (P<0.01), less than two job-related licenses (P<0.05), and less than two co-nutritionists (P<0.01). The four variables of job satisfaction, 'business discretion' (P<0.05), 'work environment' (P<0.01), 'job suitability' (P<0.01), and 'reward' (P<0.01), positively affected the organizational commitment. Moreover, organizational commitment had a mediating effect (P<0.01) on job satisfaction and turnover intention. Taken together, our results suggest that public health centers need to develop improvement plans for business discretion, work environment, job suitability and reward.

  • Purpose: This study was to seek the application after fostering the dental technician with the disability. The purpose of this was to suggest basic data to enhance employment for the disabled by fostering dental technician with disability through the opinion of experts. Methods: For this aim, this study made the literature research using precedent research data implemented by related departments and fields and domestic & foreign literature including the reports on the status of the disabled. Results: On the base of the findings the conclusion was deduced as following. It needs to open dental technician training curriculum with disability to enhance employment for the disabled and smoothness and qualification for the practical demand and supply of the dental technician. Conclusion: To foster the dental technician with disability, there needs the change of negative view that the disabled will not be able to do well. The disabled also can do the work well as those without disability if they get the education and the training.

  • Welding work is a production work method widely used throughout the industry, and various types of welding technologies exist. In addition, many methods are being studied to automate these welding operations using robots, but in the ship manufacturing field, welding such as painting, cutting, and grinding is also the most common operation, but the manual operation ratio is higher than in other industries. Such a high manual labor ratio in the field of ship manufacturing not only causes quality problems and production delays according to the skill of workers, but also causes problems in the supply and demand of manpower. Therefore, this paper analyzed the reason why the automation rate is low in welding work at ship manufacturing sites compared to other industries, and analyzed the production process and field environment for small and medium-sized ship manufacturing companies that repeatedly manufactured with a small quantity production method. Based on the analysis results, it is intended to propose a robot system that can easily move between workplaces and secure uniform welding quality and productivity by collaborating simple welding tasks with humans. Finally, the simulation environment is constructed and analyzed to secure the suitability of robot system application to current production site environment, work process, and productivity, rather than to develop and apply the proposed robot system. Through such pre-simulation and robot system suitability analysis, it is expected to reduce trial and error that may occur in actual field installation and operation, and to improve the possibility of robot application and positive perception of robot system at ship manufacturing sites.

  • Foundation plays an important role in the offshore wind turbine system. Different from conventional foundations, the suction caisson is proven to be economical and reliable. In this work, three-dimensional finite element method is used to check the suitability of suction caisson foundation. NREL 5MW wind turbine is chosen as a baseline model in our simulation. The maximum overturning moment and vertical load at the mudline are calculated using FAST and Bladed. Meanwhile the soil-structure interaction response from our simulation is also compared with the experiment data from Oxford university. The design parameter such as caisson length, diameter of skirt and spacing of multipod are investigated. Accordingly based on these parameters suggestions are given to use suction caisson foundations more efficiently.

  • The application of video processing techniques are useful for the safety of nuclear power plants by tracking the people online on video to estimate the dose received by staff during work in nuclear plants. Nuclear reactors remotely visually controlled to evaluate the plant's condition using video processing techniques. Internal reactor components should be frequently inspected but in current scenario however involves human technicians, who review inspection videos and identify the costly, time-consuming and subjective cracks on metallic surfaces of underwater components. In case, if any frame of the inspection video degraded/corrupted/missed due to noise or any other factor, then it may cause serious safety issue. The problem of missing/degraded/corrupted video frame estimation is a challenging problem till date. In this paper a systematic literature review on video processing techniques is carried out, to perform their suitability analysis for NPP applications. The limitation of existing approaches are also identified along with a roadmap to overcome these limitations.

  • This study analyzes the work environment and the work clothes wearing conditions of shipyard painters. In addition to this, three types of experimental painting work clothes were evaluated by painters in terms of the material performance and wearing functions. The findings on the harmful painting work environmental factors were organic solvents, noise, heavy dust, high temperatures, and noxious fumes. The body parts damaged during painting operations were the skin, arms, whole body, and face. In general, the satisfaction with the wearing performance of work clothes for painting was low especially in regards to sweat absorbency, sweat permeability, body protection, covering, and the work motion suitability. The satisfaction with the wearing sense of painting working clothes (regardless of the type of material) was high in the order of movement comfort> sensual comfort> physiological comfort. The satisfaction in overall comfort according to the types of material was high in the order of nylon> SMS nonwoven fabric> SF nonwoven fabric.

Investigation of Junction-less Tunneling Field Effect Transistor (JL-TFET) with Floating Gate

  • This work presents a novel structure for junction-less tunneling field effect transistor (JL-TFET) with a floating gate over the source region. Introduction of floating gate instead of fixed metal gate removes the limitation of fabrication process suitability. The proposed device is based on a heavily n-type-doped Si-channel junction-less field effect transistor (JLFET). A floating gate over source region and a control-gate with optimized metal work-function over channel region is used to make device work like a tunnel field effect transistor (TFET). The proposed device has exhibited excellent ID-VGS characteristics, ION/IOFF ratio, a point subthreshold slope (SS), and average SS for optimized device parameters. Electron charge stored in floating gate, isolation oxide layer and body doping concentration are optimized. The proposed JL-TFET can be a promising candidate for switching performances.
