Decomposition of a Text Block into Words Using Projection Profiles, Gaps and Special Symbols (투영 프로파일, GaP 및 특수 기호를 이용한 텍스트 영역의 어절 단위 분할)

  • This paper proposes a method for line and word segmentation for machine-printed text blocks. To separate a text region into the unit of lines, it analyses the horizontal projection profile and performs a recursive projection profile cut method. In the word segmentation, between-word gaps are identified by a hierarchical clustering method after finding gaps in the text line by using a connected component analysis. In addition, a special symbol detection technique is applied to find two types of special symbols tying between words using their morphologic features. An experiment with 84 text regions from English and Korean documents shows that the proposed method achieves 99.92% accuracy of word segmentation, while a commercial OCR software named Armi 6.0 Pro$^{TM}$ has 97.58% accuracy.y.

  • 인터넷이 대중화대면서 온라인 쇼핑이 가능해졌고 구매자들은 인터넷을 통해 구매와 관련 된 경험, 서비스 등을 다른 사람들과 공유할 수 있게 되었다. 인터넷 쇼핑의 특성상 제품을 직접 눈으로 보고 만져 볼 수 없기 때문에 온라인 구전(Online Word of mouth)이 상품 구매 판단의 잣대로 활용되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 온라인 쇼핑몰에서 구전 정보 특성이 구매자들의 인지된 구전 정보 가치에 영향을 미치는지 실증적으로 분석하였다. 구전정보의 객관성, 관련성, 신빙성, up-to-dateness는 인지된 구전정보가치 즉 구매 불확실성 감소에 긍정적인 영향을 주었다. 구매 불확실성 감소는 온라인 쇼핑몰의 신뢰에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다.

  • With the vigorous researches in the character recognition, the need to recognize run-on multilingual handwritten characters is increasing to provide uses with more comfortable PUI(pen user interface) environments. In general, many intermediate word candidates word candidates are generated in run-on multilingual recognition because there is no information of ending position and linguistic kind of character. To remove unnecessary word candidates which are generated in run-on multilingual recognition, we classify them into two groups and select the best candidate among the word candidates in the group where the final characater is completed using 5 attributes. In this research, we propose a method in order to select the best one candidate. It is called WRM (Weighted ranking method). The weights are adaptively trained by LMS(Least mean square) learning rule. Results show that the abilities of decision makin gusing weights are much better than those not using weights.

  • On-line game business has emerged as the most lucrative entertainment industry, with over 4 million players in China, with more than 45% of the market dominated by Korean on-line games. While the interactive entertainment market continues to expand, with many new Korean on-line game publishers entering the market, relatively little is known about which factors influence online game players' behavioral intentions (i.e., intention to play, brand-identity, word of mouth, flow, etc.) in this area. It appears that in this extremely attractive and growing services segment, academics, as well as practitioners, would benefit from investigating the relationships among the players' intention to play, social norms, word of mouth, flow, and the impacts of several other key game-related constructs. A conceptual framework is proposed and a simultaneous equation model is developed. This paper develops the exploratory LISREL model for identifying the factors affecting the players' intention to play for on-line games. Based on data collected from on-line questionnaire survey in China, the validity of the model has been tested and interesting conclusions have been developed concerning the relationships between the game-related constructs. It is hoped that this result might provide the useful guidelines for developing the successful on-line game contents. With better understanding of the players' behavioral intentions, Korean on-line game developers should be able to penetrate the China market with sustainable advantage over their competition.

  • Memory cell array and peripheral circuits are designed for system on panel style frame buffer. Moreover, a parallel test methodology to test multiple blocks of memory cells is proposed to overcome low yield of system on panel processing technologies. It is capable of faster fault detection compared to conventional memory tests and also applicable to the tests of various embedded memories and conventional SRAMs. The various patterns of conventional test vectors can be used to enhance fault coverage. The proposed testing method is also applicable to hierarchical bit line and divided word line, one of design trends of recent memory architectures.

The Influences of On Line WOM(word Of Mouth) Information and Receiver's Characteristic on WOM Received (온라인 구전정보와 수신자 특성이 구전수용에 미치는 영향)

  • The present paper aims to examine the relationship between the online word of mouth(WOM) contents and the WOM effect and to see how receivers' features such as product knowledge and involvement level influence the WOM received. For that purpose, we categorize WOM contents into two subcategories; product news and personal experience. The WOM effect, in turn, is into the WOM received. Survey questionnaires were given to 268 collegians as to their online WOM activities to purchase MP3 players. SPSS 10.0 package was employed as the method of statistical analysis. We report the following results. First, product news is shown to exert a greater effect on the WOM received than personal experience. Second, their product knowledge plays a moderating role in the relationship between the WOM contents and the WOM received. Finally, it is shown that the factor of involvement level moderates the relationship between the WOM contents and the WOM received. The current paper attempts to develop a hypothetical relationship between WOM information and WOM received and to provide a theoretical foundation for the practical online marketing. We must admit the methodological limitations with respect to subjects and samples. It should be worthwhile, however, to compare online and off-line marketing and to expand the range of research in the current line of thought.

Korean Word Segmentation and Compound-noun Decomposition Using Markov Chain and Syllable N-gram (마코프 체인 밀 음절 N-그램을 이용한 한국어 띄어쓰기 및 복합명사 분리)

  • Word segmentation errors occurring in text preprocessing often insert incorrect words into recognition vocabulary and cause poor language models for Korean large vocabulary continuous speech recognition. We propose an automatic word segmentation algorithm using Markov chains and syllable-based n-gram language models in order to correct word segmentation error in teat corpora. We assume that a sentence is generated from a Markov chain. Spaces and non-space characters are generated on self-transitions and other transitions of the Markov chain, respectively Then word segmentation of the sentence is obtained by finding the maximum likelihood path using syllable n-gram scores. In experimental results, the algorithm showed 91.58% word accuracy and 96.69% syllable accuracy for word segmentation of 254 sentence newspaper columns without any spaces. The algorithm improved the word accuracy from 91.00% to 96.27% for word segmentation correction at line breaks and yielded the decomposition accuracy of 96.22% for compound-noun decomposition.

  • [ $T_EX$ ] is a typesetting system created by Donald E. Knuth for producing publication-quality scientific books and journals. It is famous for the line breaking algorithm, the formatting of complex mathematical formula, and the powerful macro programming capability. Recently $T_EX$ plays a new role of an automatic typesetting engine. The paper describes $T_EX$ in the framework of typography by comparing with DTP softwares and word processors.
