서비스업 여성 근로자의 근무조건에 따른 직무 스트레스 (Occupational Stress of Women Workers in Service Industries depending on Their Working Conditions)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to discover the influence of the working conditions on women workers' occupational stress. Methods: Descriptive method is used to identify women's stress depending on their general working features and conditions by conducting a survey of them in women-dominated service industries. SPSS 18.0 program is used for data analysis and descriptive statistics is presented with standard deviation, frequency and percentage. ${\chi}^2$-test is used as an analysis tool. To figure out factors that influence their stress, logistic regression analysis is used for general features and working conditions as independent variables, and occupational stress as a dependent variable. Results: As a result, among the independent variables, employment status, weekly working hours, career, shiftwork, and work-family-balance are meaningful factors that influence their stress. Temporary workers' stress is 3.65 times higher (p<.001), and workers working over 48 hours a week have 1.97 times higher stress (p<.003). Workers with over 5 years' career are under 1.73 times higher stress (p<.046) and shift workers are under 3.51 times higher stress (p<.001). Work family balance results in 1.93 times higher stress (p<.009). Conclusion: It is necessary to seek how to prevent and manage women workers' stress considering features.

Association Between Work Conditions and Smoking in South Korea

  • Background: A variety of sociodemographic factors, such as gender, age, household income, and educational level, influence individuals' likelihood of smoking.Work-related factors may also be linked to smoking behavior.We sought to investigate the relationship between smoking and work environment in South Korea. Methods: We analyzed data from the Fifth Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey to determine whether there was an association between smoking and occupation type (e.g., manual, nonmanual, or service work), night-shift work, and hours worked/week (e.g., <40, 40-48, 49-60, or >60 hours) for 4,685 workers. Regression models were adjusted for sociodemographic variables such as age, recent alcohol consumption, hours slept, educational level, and household income. Results: The prevalence of smoking was 50.1% in men and 7.2% in women. For women, manual workers had 2.34 times [95% confidence interval (CI): 1.02-5.36] greater odds of smoking compared with nonmanual workers, whereas service workers had 2.37 times greater odds (95% CI: 1.28-4.40). Furthermore, women who worked 49-60 hours had 2.21 times greater odds of smoking (95% CI: 1.10-3.75) as compared with women who worked 40-48 hours. Conclusion: Women who work long hours or who are employed in service or manual positions are more likely to smoke. These results indicate a need in South Korea to target these specific groups when creating nonsmoking policies.

사무종사자의 직업 특성과 고혈압의 관련성 (Association of Work-related Characteristics and Hypertension among White Collar Workers)

  • Objectives: This study evaluated the association between work related characteristics and hypertension among white collar workers in Korea. Materials and methods: This study was based on the Third Korean Working Conditions Survey(KWCS) conducted in 2011 among workers 15 years of age or older. The total number of individuals included in the analysis was 10,365 white collar workers. Results: The prevalence rate of hypertension was 3.7% among men and 1.0% among women. In multiple logistic analysis the adjusted odds ratio showed statistically effective association to hypertension. For work related characteristics, 1.73 (95% confidence interval, 1.22-2.46) resulted for large-company workers compared with the small-company group, 2.14 (95% CI, 1.22-3.75) for the long working hours group (61 or above) compared with short working hours group(52 or below), 1.78(95% CI, 1.08-2.95) for night shift workers compared with day workers, and 1.54 (95% CI, 1.18-2.01) for high job stress workers compared with low job stress workers. Conclusions: This study showed that it is important for workers to manage their work environment in order to prevent hypertension by modifying their types of work.

직장여성의 심혈관계질환 위험요인에 관한 연구 (A Study on Cardiovascular Risk Factors in Female Workers)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate cardiovascular risk factors, their interaction, degree of cardiovascular risk and to analyze the effects of related fcators in women workers. Method: A Survey was conducted in 529 employed women in 36 workplaces from October 25, 2002 to December 12, 2002. The survey was distributed and collected by occupational health nurses working at work sites. Result: The result were as followings; The female workers had about 2 cardiovascular risk factors. 82.1% were not exercising more than 3 times a week, 45.9% reported noise-exposure, 38.2% had higher perceived stress, 25.4% were shift-workers, 10.4% were long-time workers(over 60hour/week), 4.4% were frequent drinker, 3.9% were current smokers. The rate of obesity in measured as BMI greater than 25 was 4.0%. Many cardiovascular risk factors were correlated. Job-related and health behavior-related cardiovascular risk factors were correlated statistically. Expose to noise, reported perceived stress were powerful predictors in their degree of cardiovascular risk. Conclusion; Based on the results of this study, cardiovascular prevention programs for women in workplace should be designed as a multifactorial approach, which include stress management and job-related risk factor management as essential components to be effective in addressing the needs of the population.

일개 산업장 남성 근로자의 근무형태별 건강상태와 건강행위 및 건강증진 프로그램 요구도 (Health Status, Health Behavior, and Health Promotion Program Needs of Industrial Male Workers according to Shift Work at an Workplace)

  • Purpose: This study was performed to identify the health status, healthy behavior, and health promotion program needs of day time and shift time industrial male workers at an workplace. Method: Relevant data were collected from June 20 to August 18, 2005. Questionaries were distributed to all subjects along with their medical records of 2005 and 151 sets of responses were used for the analysis. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS WIN 10.0. Result: 1. Health Status - day time and shift-time workers had significant differences in obesity ($x^2=8.38$, p<.01) and blood pressure ($x^2=-2.17$, p<.05). 2. Healthy Habits - Full-time and part-time workers had significant differences in regular meals (63.83, p<.01), preferred foods ($x^2=7.10$, p<.05), and sleep time (t=-3.55, p<.01). They also had significant differences in exercising ($x^2=13.11$, p<.01), exercising time (minutes) (t=-2.25, p<.01), and use of fitness centers ($x^2=7.02$, p<.05). 3. They also had significant differences in their needs of health programs ($x^2=8.66$, p<.01). Conclusion: This study revealed that day time and shift-time workers had differences in obesity and blood pressure, as well as differences in eating sleeping, and exercising patterns. Both groups needed 'fitness programs' more than any other types of health programs and picked 'weight loss' and 'stress control' programs for other options. Industrial nurses should be able to create appropriate health programs for each group based on the above results and induce the workers' active participation.

소방관서 내에서 여성구급대원의 스트레스 해소방안: 경상북도를 중심으로 (Resolution Method of Women's EMT Stresses at the Fire Station: Focused on the Gyungbuk Province)

  • The purpose of this study is to make sure what the stress causes of women's EMTs within the firehouse are, and is to suggest ideas (plans) that are possible to resolve this problem. The reasons are because of difficulties such as not only the overwork at one's tasks, the uncomfortable working environment and circumstances, women's pregnancy, but also shift work or the shift system. It's own ideas about the way to resolve these difficulties are as follows: a separate operation of first-aid department, environmental improvement within a fire house (fire station) via remodeling, activation of substitute man power, alterating women's EMT services into daywork system, mutual encouragement and solicitude among co-workers, reinforcement of the number of the working force to be mobilized, and adoption about the rest year system in employment.

교대근무가 음주에 미치는 영향 및 수면의 매개효과 (The Effect of the Shift Work on Drinking and the Mediating Effect of Sleep)

  • 연구목적 이전 연구에 따르면 교대근무는 인간의 자연적인 일주기 리듬에 적응하기 어렵게 만들어 각종 건강문제를 일으킨다. 특히 교대근무자는 근무 일정과 연관된 수면의 어려움을 호소하는 경향이 있으며, 알코올을 수면유도를 위한 자가약으로 사용하는 경우가 있다. 현재까지 교대근무와 수면 및 음주와의 관련성에 관한 명확한 기전이 밝혀지지 않고 있는 상태이다. 따라서 이 연구에서는 교대근무와 수면과의 관련성을 확인하고, 교대근무로 인한 수면의 변화가 음주를 유발하는지에 대해 분석하고자 한다. 방 법 이 연구는 국민건강영양조사 제6기, 제7기 자료 중 2014, 2016, 2018년도를 분석대상으로 하였으며 총 11360명(남성 5704명, 여성 5656명)을 연구대상인원으로 포함시켰다. 6 am-6 pm사이의 근무형태를 주간근무, 이외의 근무형태를 교대근무로 정의하였으며 로지스틱 회귀분석을 통하여 교대근무와 수면의 질, 교대근무와 고위험 음주, 음주량 및 음주 횟수의 관계를 분석하였다. 또한 매개분석을 통하여 수면이 교대근무와 음주의 관계를 매개하는지 여부를 분석하였다. 결 과 교대근무는 남성과 여성에서 수면 질과 유의한 음의 관계를 보였다(남성 OR=1.37, 95% CI=1.11-1.70, 여성 OR=1.26, 95% CI=1.05-1.50). 교대근무와 음주와의 관계에서는 남성의 경우 유의한 관계가 나타나지 않았으나, 여성의 경우 교대근무와 음주횟수에서 유의한 양의 관계를 보였다(OR=1.34, 95% CI=1.04-1.72). 매개분석 시행 시 여성의 수면 질은 교대근무와 음주횟수의 관계를 부분매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 결 론 이 연구의 결과는 교대근무가 수면의 어려움을 유발하며, 여성의 경우에서는 수면의 부분매개효과를 통해 음주를 유발할 수 있음을 시사한다. 여성이 수면장애에 대한 대처방안으로 음주를 선택할 가능성이 높은 점을 고려할 때, 여성 교대근무자에 대한 보다 적극적인 중재방안이 마련된 필요가 있다.

직장여성의 식습관과 위증상 (Food Habits & Gastric Symptoms of Career Women)

  • This study was carried out to describe the relationship between food habit and gastric symptom. Five hundreds ten women working more than 6 months were chosen for samples among the residents in Seoul and Kyungki provinces. This survey was done by questionnaire from the 5th September to the 5th October 1996. The results was followed : 1. The average score of the food habit in the career women was 9.6 among the total score. 20 2. The food habit of the career women appeared worse to whom were younger, single, and having loss educational backgrounded and living apart from family, When the average score of food habit was compared between groups, nurses group was lower than the other group, and shift workers. 3. The average score of gastric symptom was 8.1 among the total score 30. 4. The average gastric symptom score of the career women was resulted in less high among the younger, single, technical college graduated and living separately from the family. In the group comparison, the nurse group showed higher score than teachers and shift worker group showed higher score than nonshift worker. 5. There were negative correlation between food habit and gastric symptom. From the research point of view, the food habit of career women resulted differently depending on their occupations and invidual characteristics. Therefore, education and guidence for appropriate ate diet and food habit will be considered as necessary for health of the working women.

주간근무 및 교대근무 여성근로자의 여성건강 비교연구 (A Comparative Study on Women's Health of Female Workers on Daywork and Shiftwork)

  • 본 연구는 주간근무 및 교대근무 여성 근로자의 일반적 요인 및 여성건강관련 요인들의 차이를 비교하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 보건복지부 질병관리본부에서 실시한 제7기 2차년도 국민건강영양조사 자료를 기초로 하였으며 설문 조사에 참여한 조사자는 모두 10,430명이었다. 그 중 1,995명 근로자의 건강관련 변수와 건강관련 삶의 질 차이를 분석하였다. 여성 근로자의 연령, 결혼여부, 교육수준, 종사상지위, 출산경험은 주간근무 근로자와 교대근무 근로자 간의 유의한 차이를 나타냈다. 반면 소득이나 주관적 건강인식, 스트레스 인지, 우울경험, 초경연령, 폐경연령, 수유기간과 건강관련 삶의 질은 유의한 차이를 나타내지 못하였다. 교대근무는 산업의 발전과 탄력 근로제를 위하여 불가피하게 시행되고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 교대근무로 인한 부작용을 줄이기 위해서는 근로자 개인뿐만 아니라 사회적, 국가적인 관심과 대책이 요구된다.
