Implementation of Filter Bank-Based RF Transceiver for TV White Space

  • This paper presents a general-purpose design scheme of a filter bank (FB)-based radio frequency (RF) transceiver that operates across the entire ultra-high frequency (UHF) TV band from 470 MHz to 698 MHz and complies with the TV white space (TVWS) regulatory requirements. To this end, an intermediate frequency (IF) band-pass filter (BPF) with a sharp skirt characteristic is considered as a solution for handling the incoming signals from a baseband modem. Specifically, an FB-based BPF structure with four ceramic resonator filters that effectively rejects unwanted signals is proposed to extract a desired signal in the TV band. Achievable data rates of a cognitive radio system (CRS) employing the proposed FB-based RF transceiver at the application layer are investigated in both wired and wireless environments. The service coverage of the CRS network is measured according to several modulation and coding schemes (MCSs) of the CRS. The results show that the coverage of a wireless network in a nearly open area can be extended by more than 9.3 km in the TVWS. Experimental results also confirm that the proposed FB-based RF transceiver is adequate for utilization in TVWS applications.

  • 본 논문에서는 IEEE Std 802.11b와 IEEE Std 802.11a의 규격집으로부터 RF 송수신 시스템의 설계를 위한 최소성능 요구 조건의 파라메터들을 제시하였으며, 이 파라메터들로부터 RF 송수신 시스템의 설계 과정에서 요구되어지는 최소성능 요구조건을 산출하였다. 그 산출된 값으로부터 RF 송수신 시스템을 구성하기 위한 최적의 조건을 갖는 부품을 선정하여 Agilent ADS로 시뮬레이션을 했다. 이러한 분석결과와 시뮬레이션 결과는 실제 무선 LAN 설계시 유용하게 사용될 수 있을 것이다.

Novel UWB Transceiver for WBAN Networks: A Study on AWGN Channels

  • A novel ultra-wideband (UWB) transceiver structure is presented to be used in wireless body area networks (WBANs). In the proposed structure, a data channel and a control channel are combined into a single transmission signal. In the signal, a modulation method mixing pulse position modulation and pulse amplitude modulation is proposed. A mathematical framework calculating the power spectrum density of the proposed pulse-based signal evaluates its coexistence with conventional radio systems. The transceiver structure is discussed, and the receiving performance is investigated in the additive white Gaussian noise channel. It is demonstrated that the proposed scheme is easier to match to the UWB emission mask than conventional UWB systems. The proposed scheme achieves the data rate requirement of WBAN; the logical control channel achieves better receiving performance than the logical data channel, which is useful for controlling and maintaining networks. The proposed scheme is also easy to implement.

  • 본 논문에서는 무선 센서 네트워크를 위한 생체이식형 초저전력 MICS RF 트랜시버 설게에 대해 다룬다. 400 MHz MICS 표준은 WBAN 무선 센서 시스템 구현을 위해, 인체 내 전파적 특성 및 주변 네트워크와의 간접 최소화하며 고려되었다. 본 논문은 MICS 표준에 부합하는 시스템 및 송수신기 설계를 위한 link budget 및 다양한 송수신 아키텍쳐, 초저전력 송수신기 회로기법을 포함한다.

  • RF MEMS is an exciting emerging technology that has great potential to develop TOC (Transceiver-on-Chip). Applications of the RF MEMS to wireless communications systems are presented. The ability of the RF MEMS technology to enhance the performance and to reduce the size of passive components, in particular, switches, inductors, and tunable capacitors, is addressed. A number of potential wireless system opportunities for the TOC are awaiting the maturation of the RF MEMS technology.

  • In this paper, we design RF transceiver architecture and building blocks for impulse radio UWB system. Impulse radio UWB signal occupies the wide frequency band which is very low transmission power. So, it can minimize the interference effect with the other system. Using UWB technology, we obtain position awareness service. Therefore, we describe the RF transceiver architecture of direct conversion receiver and define the requirement of RF transceiver. Moreover, we implement a prototype RF transceiver based on the presented standard and verify a function and performance through the wireless data communication and ranging test.

  • 발신자 정보표시 서비스가 전화번호를 표시하는 차원을 넘어 무선인터넷처럼 단문 메시지 서비스와 e-메일 등을 이용할 수 있는 데이터 송수신으로 자리잡게 될 것이다. 따라서 본 논문은 이러한 신규 서비스에 이용될 발신자 정보표시 기능의 데이터 처리과정상의 에러 발생요소를 분석하고, 기존의 CID시스템의 성능개선 방법을 채택한 무선 송수신 모듈을 구현하는 방법을 제안하고자 한다.

Implementation of low power algorithm for near distance wireless communication and RFID/USN systems

  • A new power control algorithm for wireless communication which can be applied to various near distance communications and USN/RFID systems is proposed. This technique has been applied and tested to lithium coin battery operated UHF/microwave transceiver systems to show extremely long communication life time without battery exchange. The power control algorithm is based on the dynamic prediction method of arrival time for incoming packet at the receiver. We obtain 16mA current consumption in the TX module and 20mA current consumption in the RX module. The advantage provided by this method compared to others is that both master transceiver and slave transceiver can be low power consumption system.

  • 본 연구는 무선 영상 송수신기와 제어용 데이터 송수신기를 이용하여 특정 지역에 대해 인터넷 망과 연동하여 무인 원격 감시 및 제어 망을 구축한다. 시스템의 구성은 CCTV카메라에 의한 영상 정보 수집과 목표물 자동추적장치, 무선 영상 송신기, 제어용 데이터 송수신기, 원격 제어 및 모니터부 그리고 인터넷 망으로 구성된다.

High Output Power and High Fundamental Leakage Suppression Frequency Doubler MMIC for E-Band Transceiver

  • An active frequency doubler monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) for E-band transceiver applications is presented in this letter. This MMIC has been fabricated in a commercial $0.1-{\mu}m$ GaAs pseudomorphic high electron mobility transistor (pHEMT) process on a 2-mil thick substrate wafer. The fabricated MMIC chip has been measured to have a high output power performance of over 13 dBm with a high fundamental leakage suppression of more than 38 dBc in the frequency range of 71 to 86 GHz under an input signal condition of 10 dBm. A microstrip coupled line is used at the output circuit of the doubler section to implement impedance matching and simultaneously enhance the fundamental leakage suppression. The fabricated chip is has a size of $2.5mm{\times}1.2mm$.
