  • Recently, the wireless communication applications are studied in various environment by the development of short range communication system like wireless sensor networks. This paper presents the analysis of localization schemes for ship application using received signal strength. The localization schemes using received signal strength from wireless networks are classified under two methods, which are Range based method and Range free method. Range based methods estimate the location with least square estimation based on estimated distance using path-loss model. Range free methods estimated the location with the information of anchor nodes linked to target. Simulation results show the appropriate localization scheme for each cabin environments based on the empirical path-loss model in warship's internal space.

  • Wireless Sensor Network is composed of a lot of sensor nodes that are densely deployed in a field. So generally this sensor nodes are spreaded using Helicopter or Fixed wing. Each node delivers own location and acquired information to user when it detects specific events. In this paper, we propose localization algorithm without range information in wireless sensor network using helicopter. Helicopter broadcasts periodically beacon signal for sensor nodes. Sensor nodes stored own memory this beacon signal until to find another beacon point(satisfied special condition). This paper develops a localization mechanism using the geometry conjecture(perpendicular bisector of a chord) to know own location. And the simulation results demonstrate that our localization scheme outperforms Centroid, APIT in terms of a higher location accuracy.

  • One of the basic problems in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) is the localization of the sensor nodes based on the known location of numerous anchor nodes. WSNs generally consist of a large number of sensor nodes and recording the location of each sensor nodes becomes a difficult task. On the other hand, based on the application environment, the nodes may be subject to mobility and their location changes with time. Therefore, a scheme that will autonomously estimate or calculate the position of the sensor nodes is desirable. This paper presents an intelligent localization scheme, which is an artificial neural network (ANN) based localization scheme used to estimate the position of the unknown nodes. In the proposed method, three anchors nodes are used. The mobile or deployed sensor nodes request a beacon from the anchor nodes and utilizes the received signal strength indicator (RSSI) of the beacons received. The RSSI values vary depending on the distance between the mobile and the anchor nodes. The three RSSI values are used as the input to the ANN in order to estimate the location of the sensor nodes. A feed-forward artificial neural network with back propagation method for training has been employed. An average Euclidian distance error of 0.70 m has been achieved using a ANN having 3 inputs, two hidden layers, and two outputs (x and y coordinates of the position).

  • This paper presents a simple sensor network consists of a group of sensors, RF components, and microprocessors, to perform a distributed sensing and information transmission using wireless links. In the proposed sensor network, though each sensor node has a limited capability and a simple signal-processing engine, a group of sensor nodes can perform a various tasks through coordinated information sharing and wireless communication in a large working area. Using the capability of self-localization and tracking, we show the sensor network can be applied to localization and navigation of mobile robot in which the robot has to be coordinated effectively to perform given task in real time.

  • Localization system is an important problem for Wireless Sensor Networks(WSN). Since the sensor nodes are limited, the range-based that uses the special device for localization is unsuitable in WSN. DV-Hop is one of the range-free localization algorithm using hop-distance and number of hop count. But Its disadvantage is that it spend large communication cost in scalable sensor nodes. We propose a simple algorithm to reduce the communication cost, using the smallest number of hop count.

  • Localization algorithms are required for indoor sensor network applications. In this paper, we introduce an efficient algorithm for low complexity and high accuracy, termed multi-internal division localization(MID), which emphasizes simple refinement and low system-load for low-cost and low-rate wireless sensors. We inspect MID algorithm through MATLAB simulation.

  • A sensor network is composed of a large number of sensor nodes that are densely deployed in a field. Each sensor performs a sensing task for detection specific events. After detecting this event, location information of the sensor node is very important. Range-based scheme of the proposed approaches typically achieve high accuracy on either node-to-node distances or angles, but this scheme have a drawback because all sensor nodes have the special hardware. On the other hand, range-free scheme provides economic advantage because of no needed hardware even if that leads to coarse positioning accuracy. In this paper, we propose a range-free localization algorithm without range information in wireless sensor networks. This is a range-free approach and uses a small number of anchor nodes and known sensor nodes. This paper develops a localization mechanism using the geometry conjecture (perpendicular bisector of a chord). The conjecture states that a perpendicular bisector of a chord passes through the center of the circle.

  • Wireless Sensor Networks have been proposed for several location-dependent applications. For such systems, the cost and limitations of the hardware on sensing nodes prevent the use of range-based localization schemes that depend on absolute point to point distance estimates. Because coarse accuracy is sufficient for most sensor network applications, solutions in range-free localization are being pursued as a cost-effective alternative to more expensive range-based approaches. In this paper, we proposed a Coefficient Allocated DV-Hop (CA DV-Hop) algorithm which reduces node's location error by awarding a credit value with respect to number of hops of each anchor to an unknown node. Simulation results have verified the high estimation accuracy with our approach which outperforms the classical DV-Hop.

  • In the wireless localization systems using range measurements, iteration method-based approximated solutions have been used. Also, linear closed-form solutions have been investigated in the light of local minimum problem and computational load. However, each closed-form solution has individual error factors that cause usage limit of the solutions. In this paper, a fusion method integrating two representative closed-form solutions is presented. The presented method cancels the error factors of each solution out. Weights for integrating the standalone solutions are determined using the error factors-based fuzzy method. The performance of the proposed method is verified using some simulation results.

  • In the wireless sensor network(WSN), the detection of precise location of sensor nodes is essential for efficiently utilizing the sensing data acquired from sensor nodes. Among various location methods, the received signal strength (RSS) based localization scheme is mostly preferable in many applications since it can be easily implemented without any additional hardware cost. Since the RSS localization method is mainly effected by radio channel between two nodes, outlier data can be included in the received signal strength measurement specially when some obstacles move around the link between nodes. The outlier data can have bad effect on estimating the distance between two nodes such that it can cause location errors. In this paper, we propose a RSS-based localization method using Robust Statistic and Gaussian filter algorithm for enhancing the accuracy of RSS-based localization. In the proposed algorithm, the outlier data can be eliminated from samples by using the Robust Statistics as well as the Gaussian filter such that the accuracy of localization can be achieved. Through simulation, it is shown that the proposed algorithm can increase the accuracy of localization and is more robust to non gaussian noise channels.
