  • 풍동에서 측정된 공력자료에는 풍동벽면의 영향으로 인하여 불가항력적인 오차가 포함되어 있다. 벽면영향이 없는 공력자료를 얻기 위해서는 이러한 원하지 않는 벽면효과를 제거 하여야 한다. 유선곡률 효과는 풍동벽면의 영향으로 유선의 곡률이 자유 흐름의 것과 다르기 때문에 발생한다. 고정익 항공기에 사용되고 있는 전통적인 유선곡률 효과를 보정방법인 Glauert의 보정방법은 회전익 항공기에 적용이 적절하지 않다. 본 논문에서는 로터에 적절한 후류모델을 사용하는 Heyson의 보정방법을 사용하여 로터축 기울어짐 각과 동압을 보정하였다. Heyson 보정방법의 결과를 Glauert 보정방법의 결과와 비교하였다.

  • Wind tunnel testing for flow-through model is necessary for performance prediction of an aircraft with air-breathing jet engine. Internal drag correction and wall correction are performed to acquire preciser wind tunnel test data. Many test runs are generally required to correct internal drag and wall interference in wind tunnel test. In this study we investigated more effective correction schemes using the response surface method. Even though the number of tests required for these schemes was much smaller than that for conventional methods, the differences between corrections using these schemes and conventional methods were similar level with the uncertainty of measurement except for the data near the boundaries.

Shielding effects on a tall building from a row of low and medium rise buildings

  • Wind loading of a tall building built amidst a group of buildings in urban environment is always greatly affected by shielding effects. Wind tunnel tests were carried out to assess the shielding provided by a row of low-rise or medium-rise buildings upstream a square-section tall building of height-to-breadth ratio 6. Mean and dynamic wind loads on the tall building were measured at different wind incidence angles and presented as interference factors (IFs). It is found that presence of a row of upstream buildings provides significant shielding to the tall building. At normal wind incidence, the mean along-wind loads and all components of fluctuating wind loads on the tall building are always reduced by shielding. Vortex shedding seems to still occur on the upper exposed part of the tall building but the vortex excitation levels are largely reduced. The degree of shielding is found to depend on a number of arrangement parameters of the row of upstream buildings. Empirical equations are proposed to quantify the shielding effect based on the wind tunnel data.

  • In recent years, green house effect related natural disasters occur throughout the world. Carbon dioxide, mainly comes from the fossil fuel burning, is suspected to be the cause of green house effect. To reduce the emission of carbon dioxide, we need to find alternative energy resources such as photovoltaic energy. In this paper, the basic characteristics of wind force coefficient on a PV panel installed on the floating type PV energy generation system are investigated though the two-dimensional wind tunnel tests. Test variables included the angle of PV panel, direction of wind, number of rows of PV panel and attached or not attached frame. Based on the results obtained through the wind tunnel tests, it was found that the wind force coefficient can be used as a preliminary data in the design of the structure.

Analysis of vortex induced vibration frequency of super tall building based on wind tunnel tests of MDOF aero-elastic model

  • To study the vibration frequency of super high-rise buildings in the process of vortex induced vibration (VIV), wind tunnel tests of multi-degree-of-freedom (MDOF) aero-elastic models were carried out to measure the vibration frequency of the system directly. The effects of structural damping, wind field category, mass density, reduced wind velocity ($V_r$), as well as VIV displacement on the VIV frequency were investigated systematically. It was found that the frequency drift phenomenon cannot be ignored when the building is very high and flexible. When $V_r$ is less than 8, the drift magnitude of the frequency is typically positive. When $V_r$ is close to the critical wind velocity of resonance, the frequency drift magnitude becomes negative and reaches a minimum at the critical wind velocity. When $V_r$ is larger than12, the frequency drift magnitude almost maintains a stable value that is slightly smaller than the fundamental frequency of the aero-elastic model. Furthermore, the vibration frequency does not lock in the vortex shedding frequency completely, and it can even be significantly modified by the vortex shedding frequency when the reduced wind velocity is close to 10.5.

풍동실험 및 비행시험을 통한 복합형 VTOL 무인기 소음인증 평가에 대한 연구 (A Study on Noise Certification Evaluation of Hybrid VTOL UAV by Wind Tunnel Test and Flight Test)

  • 본 논문에서는 풍동 실험을 통해 측정한 소음 결과를 활용하여 실제 비행하는 기체에서 발생되는 소음수준을 예측하고 비행시험을 통해 검증하는 과정을 다루었다. 항공기의 환경소음 평가를 위해서는 일반적으로 국제민간항공기구(이하 ICAO)에서 규정한 절차에 따라 소음시험 및 평가를 수행하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 고정익 및 회전익(멀티콥터)의 특징을 모두 가지고 있는 복합형 기체에 적용이 가능한 환경 소음평가 방안과 실험을 통해 검증한 결과를 제시하였다. 고정익과 회전익 소형 무인기를 활용하여 풍동실험에서 측정한 소음시험 결과를 실제 비행 시험결과로 시뮬레이션 하는 과정을 제시하였다. 또한, ICAO에서 제시하는 비행 운용조건 및 소음 측정 방법을 고려하여 풍동실험을 통한 결과와 실 기체 비행시험을 모두 수행하여 항공기 소음인증을 위한 실효감각소음레벨(EPNL)을 예측 및 고찰하였다.

Flutter suppression of long-span suspension bridge with truss girder

  • Section model wind tunnel test is currently the main technique to investigate the flutter performance of long-span bridges. Further study about applying the wind tunnel test results to the aerodynamic optimization is still needed. Systematical parameters and test principle of the bridge section model are determined by using three long-span steel truss suspension bridges. The flutter critical wind at different attack angles is obtained through section model flutter test. Under the most unfavorable working condition, tests to investigate the effects that upper central stabilized plate, lower central stabilized plate and horizontal stabilized plate have on the flutter performance of the main beam were conducted. According to the test results, the optimal aerodynamic measure was chosen to meet the requirements of the bridge wind resistance in consideration of safety, economy and aesthetics. At last the credibility of the results is confirmed by full bridge aerodynamic elastic model test. That the flutter reduced wind speed of long-span steel truss suspension bridges stays approximately between 4 to 5 is concluded as a reference for the investigation of the flutter performance of future similar steel truss girder suspension bridges.

Experimental study on wind-induced dynamic interference effects between two tall buildings

  • Two identical tall building models with square cross-sections are experimentally studied in a wind tunnel with high-frequency-force-balance (HFFB) technique to investigate the interference effects on wind loads and dynamic responses of the interfered building. Another wind tunnel test, in which the interfered model is an aeroelastic one, is also carried out to further study the interference effects. The results from the two kinds of tests are compared with each other. Then the influences of turbulence in oncoming wind on dynamic interference factors are analyzed. At last the artificial neural networks method is used to deal with the experimental data and the along-wind and across-wind dynamic interference factor $IF_{dx}$ & $IF_{dy}$ contour maps are obtained, which could be used as references for wind load codes of buildings.

강풍에 의한 비산물의 비행 시작 풍속에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Flight Initiation Wind Speed of Wind-Borne Debris)

  • 태풍 등과 같은 강풍에 의한 비산물로부터 구조물과 인명의 피해를 최소화하기 위해서는 비산물의 비행 시작 풍속을 예측할 수 있어야 한다. 본 연구의 목적은 강풍 시 비산물의 비행시작 풍속을 예측하기 위한 방법과 예측에 필요한 데이터를 제공하는 것이다. 이를 위해 힘의 평형방정식으로부터 비산물의 비행 시작 풍속 예측식을 제시하였다. 또한 예측식에 필요한 공기력계수를 산출하기 위해 풍동실험을 수행하여 비산물의 길이와 높이의 비에 따른 공기력계수를 측정하고, 아울러 비율에 따른 공기력계수를 계산할 수 있는 경험식을 제시하였다. 예측 비행 시작 풍속을 검증하기 위해 풍동에서 자유비산 실험을 수행하여 비산물의 비행 시작 풍속을 측정하였다. 비산물의 길이와 두께의 비가 10 미만인 경우에는 주로 미끄러짐에 의해 비행이 시작되었고, 10 이상인 경우에는 주로 전도에 의해 비행이 시작되는 것으로 나타났다. 실제 비행 시작 풍속은 예측 풍속과 전반적으로 일치하나 약 20~30 % 낮았다. 이는 도류판 표면의 경계층 흐름 및 시험체의 변형 등이 원인으로 추정되며, 향후 예측 정확도를 높이기 위한 추가 연구가 필요하다.

Experimental study on possible vortex shedding in a suspension bridge - Part II - Results when under typhoon Babs and York

  • Statistical analysis on the measured responses of a suspension bridge deck (Law, et al. 2007) show that vibration response at the first torsional mode of the structure has a significant increase at and beyond the critical wind speed for vortex shedding as noted in the wind tunnel tests on a sectional model. This paper further analyzes the measured responses of the structure when under typhoon conditions for any possible vortex shedding events. Parameters related to the lifting force in such a possible event and the vibration amplitudes are estimated with a single-degree-of-freedom model of the system. The spatial correlation of vortex shedding along the bridge span is also investigated. Possible vortex shedding events are found at both the first torsional and second vertical modes with the root-mean-square amplitudes comparable to those predicted from wind tunnel tests. Small negative stiffness due to wind effects is observed in isolated events that last for a short duration, but the aerodynamic damping exhibits either positive or negative values when the vertical angle of wind incidence is beyond ${\pm}10^{\circ}$. Vibration of the bridge deck is highly correlated in the events at least in the middle one-third of the main span.
