공공 및 산업시설 피해에 영향을 미치는 태풍의 최대풍속 도출 (An Estimation of Extreme Wind Speed of Typhoon Affecting the Damage of Public and Industrial Facilities)

  • There were 35 typhoons affecting Korean Peninsula from 1999 to 2009(The average annual number of typhoon is 3.18). Among these typhoons, the number of typhoon passing through the Yellow sea, the Southern sea and the East sea were 14, 6 and 15 respectively. Wind speed on the height of 10 m can be finally estimated using the surface roughness after we calculate wind speed on the height of 300 m from the data on the surface of 700 hPa. From the wind speeds on the height of 10 m, we can understand the regional distributions of strong wind speed are very different according to the typhoon tracks. Wind speed range showing the highest frequency is 10~20 m/s(45.69%), below 10 m/s(30.72%) and 20~30 m/s(17.31%) in high order. From the analysis of the wind speed on the hight of 80 m, we can know the number of occurrence of wind speed between 50 and 60 m/s that can affect wind power generation are 104(0.57%) and those of between 60 and 70 m/s that can be considered as extreme wind speed are even 8(0.04%).

한반도 바람지도 구축에 관한 연구 I. 원격탐사자료를 이용한 해상풍력자원 평가 (Establishment of a Wind Map of the Korean Peninsula I. Evaluation of Offshore Wind Resources Using Remote-Sensing Data)

  • In order to understand regional wind characteristics and to estimate offshore wind resources, a wind map of the Korean Peninsula was established using remote-sensing data from the satellite, U.S. NASA Quik SCAT which has been deployed for the Sea Winds Project since 1999. According to the linear regression result between the wind map data and in-situ marine-buoy data, the correlation factor was greatly improved up to 0.87 by blending the remote-sensing data of Quik SCAT with U.S. NCEP/NCAR CDAS reanalysis data to eliminate precipitation interference and to increase temporal resolution. It is found from the established wind map that the wind speed in winter is prominent temporally and the South Sea shows spatially high energy density over the wind class 6. The reason is deduced that the north-west winds through the Yellow Sea and the north-east winds through the East Sea derived by the low pressure developed in Japan are accelerated passing through the Korea Channel and formed high wind energy region in the South Sea; the same trends are confirmed from the statistical analysis of the meteorological observation data of KMA.

아치형 단동하우스의 풍력계수 분포에 관한 연구 (Distribution of Wind Force Coefficients on the Single-span Arched House)

  • The wind pressure distributions were analyzed to provide fundamental criteria for the structural design on e single-span arched house according to the wind directions through the wind tunnel experiment. In order to investigate the wind force distributions, the variation of the wind force coefficients, the mean wind force coefficients, the drag force coefficients and the lift force coefficients were estimated by using the experimental data. The results obtained are as follows: 1. When the wind direction was normal to the wall, the maximum positive wind pressure along the height of the wall occurred approximately at two-thirds of the wall height because of the effects of boundary layer flow. 2. When the wind direction was 30$^{\circ}$ to the wall, the maximum positive wind force occurred at the windward edge of the wall. When the wind direction was parallel to the wall, the maximum negative wind force occurred at the windward edge of the wall. 3. The maximum negative wind force along the width of the roof appeared around the width ratio, 0.4, and that along the length of the roof appeared around the length ratio, 0.5. 4. According to the results of the mean wind force coefficients analysis, the maximum negative wind force occurred on the roof at the wind direction of 30$^{\circ}$. 5. The wind forces at the wind direction of 30$^{\circ}$ instead of 0$^{\circ}$ are recommended in the structural design of supports for a house. 6. To prevent partial damage of a house structure by wind forces, the local wind forces should be considered to the structural design of a house.

  • Recently rapid urbanization facilitates development of high-rise building complex including apartment and office building in urban area. Many problems related with high-rise building are reported. Especially, unpleasant strong winds in pedestrian area are frequently encountered around the high-rise building. CFD simulation methods are used to analyze the wind environment of pedestrian level in high-rise building block. However the results show differences between CFD and measurement. The reason for the difference is that conventional CFD simulation couldn't consider the effect of trees, shrubs and plants which affect the wind environment. Canopy model is a solution to solve the limitation of CFD analysis. In this paper, the canopy model to predict wind environment of pedestrian level by CFD simulation will be proposed and the validity will be analyzed by comparison of measurement and CFD prediction.

LES를 이용한 난류경계층의 생성에 관한 연구 (Generation of a Turbulent Boundary Layer Using LES)

  • The paper presents a numerical simulation of flow of a turbulent boundary layer, representing a typical wind environment and matching a series of wind tunnel observations. The simulations are carried out at a Reynolds number of 20,000, based on the velocity U at a pseudo-height h, and large enough that the flow be effectively Reynolds number independent. Some wall models are proposed for the LES(Large Eddy Simulation) of the turbulent boundary layer over a rough surface. The Jenson number, $J=h/z_0$, based on the roughness length $z_0$, is 600 to match the wind tunnel data. The computational mesh is uniform with a spacing of h/32, as this aids rapid convergence of the multigrid solver, and the governing equations are discretised using second order finite differences within a parallel multiblock environment. The results presented include the comparison between wind tunnel measurements and LES computations of the turbulent boundary layer over rough surface.

풍동을 이용한 간척지 내 양지붕형 온실의 지붕 경사에 따른 풍압계수 평가 (Estimation of Wind Pressure Coefficients on Even-Span Greenhouse Built in Reclaimed Land according to Roof Slop using Wind Tunnel)

  • To cope with increasing of vegetables and flowers consumptions, horticulture facilities have been modernized. Korea government recently announced construction plan of new greenhouse complex at reclaimed land. However wind characteristics of reclaimed land is totally different from those of inland, wind pressure on greenhouse built in reclaimed land should be carefully evaluated to secure structural safety on the greenhouse. In this study, as a first step, wind pressure coefficient and local wind pressure coefficient on even-span greenhouse were measured using wind tunnel test. ESDU was adopted to realize wind characteristics of reclaimed land such as wind and turbulence profiles. From the wind tunnel test, when wind direction was 0 degree, it was concluded that KBC2009 standard underestimated scale of wind pressure coefficients at roof area of greenhouse whereas NEN-EN2002 standard underestimated those at every surface of greenhouse. When wind direction was 90 degree, both standards did not well reflect the characteristics of wind pressure distribution. From the analysis of local wind pressure coefficients according to wind direction conditions, design of covering, glazing bar of greenhouse where large effects of the local wind pressure were estimated should be well established. Wind pressure coefficients and local wind pressure coefficients according to parts of the greenhouse were finally suggested and these results could be practically used for suggesting new design standards of greenhouse.

The results obtained are as follows : 1. The variation of the wind force with wind directions on the side walls was the greatest at the upwind edge of the walls. 2. The maximum negative wind force along the length of the roof appeared at the upwind edge at the wind direction of 60$^{\circ}$. 3. The maximum negative wind force along the width of the roof appeared at the width ratio and wind direction of 0$^{\circ}$ and 0.4 in the first house and 0.6 and 30$^{\circ}$ in the second house, respectively. 4. The mean negative wind force on the side walls of the first house at the wind direction of 0$^{\circ}$ was far greater than that of the second house, and the maximum negative wind force on the roof occurred at the wind direction of 30$^{\circ}$. 5. The maximum lift force appeared on the second house at the wind direction of 30$^{\circ}$, but the lift force on the first house was far greater than that on the second house at the wind direction of 0$^{\circ}$. 6. The parts to be considered for the local wind forces were the edges of the walls, and the edges of the x-direction and the width ratio, 0.4 of the y-direction in the roofs.

Solar Wind Observations Using STELab-IPS Array In Japan

  • Radio wave from a compact radio source such as a quasar are scattered by irregularities of electron density. The scattered waves interfere with each other as they propagate to the Earth producing diffraction patterns on the ground. This phenomenon is called interplanetary scintillation (IPS). The IPS pattern contains the information of solar wind velocities and density fluctuations passing across a line-of-sight (LOS) from an observer to a radio source. The IPS is a useful tool which allows us to measure the solar wind in three dimensional space inaccessible to in situ observations. Although the IPS measurement is an integral of solar wind velocities and density fluctuations along the LOS, which causes degradation of accuracy, we have succeeded to develop computer assisted tomography (CAT) analysis to remove the effect of LOS integration. These techniques greatly improved the accuracy of determinations of solar wind velocity structures. In this talk we present our IPS observation system and long-term variation of global solar wind structures from 1980-2009, then we focus on recent peculiar solar wind properties.

Wind loads on T-shaped and inclined free-standing walls

  • Wind tunnel measurements on T-shaped free-standing walls and inclined free-standing walls have been carried out. Mean net pressure coefficients have been derived and compared with previous research. It was observed that the high loads at the free ends are differently distributed than those derived from the pressure coefficients for free-standing walls in EN 1991-1-4. In addition net pressure coefficients based on extreme value analysis have been obtained. The lack of correlation of the wind induced pressures at windward and leeward side result in lower values for the net pressure coefficients when based on extreme value analysis. The results of this wind tunnel study have been included in Dutch guidelines for noise barriers.

부산 연안역에서의 국지풍모델을 이용한 이류확산 수치모의 (Numerical Simulation of Advection and Diffusion using the Local Wind Model in Pusan Coastal Area, Korea)

  • The two-stage numerical model was used to study the relation between three-dimensional local wind model, advection/diffusion model of random walk method and second moment method on Pusan coastal area. The first stage is three dimensional time-dependent local wind model which gives the wind field and vertical dirrusion coefficient. The second stage is advection/diffusion model which uses the results of the first stage as input data. First, wind fields on Pusan coastal area for none synoptic scale wind showed typical land and sea breeze circulation, and convergence zone occured at 1200LST in northern of domain, in succession, moved northward of domain. Emissions from Sinpyeong industrial district were trasnported toward the inland by sea breeze during daytime, and reached the end part of domain about 1800LST. During nighttime, emissions return to sea by land breeze and vertical diffusion also contributes to upward transport. In order to use this model for forecast of air pollution concentration on the Pusan coastal area, it is necessary that computed value must be compared with measured value and wind fields model must also be dealt in detail.
