형광등과 발광다이오드 광원이 '곰보배추'의 생육, 엽형 및 항산화능에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Fluorescent Light and Light-Emitting Diodes on Leaf Morphology, Growth and Antioxidant Capacity of Salvia plebeia)

  • 본 연구에서는 인공광 광질에 따른 곰보배추의 생육, 엽형 및 항산화능을 비교하였다. 정식 후 56일째에 측정된 엽장, 엽폭 및 엽수는 적색 LED(R)와 대조구인 형광등(FL) 처리구에서 유의적으로 높았고 혼합광(RB2:1)과 백색 LED(W) 처리구에서 낮았다. 엽형지수(엽장/엽폭)도 적색 LED(R)와 대조구인 형광등(FL) 처리구에서 유의적으로 높았고 혼합광(RB2:1)과 백색 LED(W) 처리구에서 낮았다. 지상부 생체중, 건물중 및 엽면적 모두 적색 LED(R) 처리구에서 가장 높았고 형광등(FL)과 청색 LED(B) 처리구가 그 다음으로 높게 나타났으며 혼합광(RB2:1)과 백색 LED(W) 처리구에서 낮았다. 잎의 수하현상은 정식 21일 이후부터 적색 LED(R)와 혼합광(RB2:1) 처리구에서만 발생하였다. 엽록소 함량은 적색 LED(R) 처리구에서 가장 낮았다. 비엽중은 청색 LED(B) 처리구에서 가장 높았고 형광등(FL) 처리구에서 가장 낮았다. DPPH free radical 소거활성은 처리 간 유의차가 없었다. 위의 결과들을 종합하여 볼 때 형광등이 곰보배추를 실내에서 인공으로 재배 시 적합한 광원으로 판단된다.

찬물 흘려대기 논의 수온 분포에 따른 벼의 엽 전개 일수 및 주간엽수와 출수일수의 품종간 차이 (Varietal Differences in Days Required to Leaf Expansion, Leaf Number on Main Culm, and Days to Heading of Rice under Cold Water Flow System)

  • 관계수온에 따른 벼 품종들의 출수일수, 주간엽 전개 소요일수, 주간총엽수 등을 조사하여 수온과 벼 품종들의 출수특성과의 관계를 구명하고자, 삼강벼 등 12개 품종을 공시하고, 찬물계속 흘려대기를 실시하여 동일 포장 내에서 수온의 차이를 둔 벼 내냉검정포에서 시험을 수행한 결과를 요약하면 다응과 같다. 1. 담수심을 5 cm로하여 찬물계속흘려대기를 실시할 때 관계수 정체시간은 3 시간 이었으며, 포장 내의 수온은 찬물유입구로부터 배수고를 향하여 거리가 밀어질수록 상승되었다. 대체로 기온이 높아짐에 따라 수온도 높아지는 경향이었고, 배수구 쪽의 수온은 벼의 영양생장기에는 기온보다 높았지만, 생식성장기에는 낮았다 2. 수온 상승에 따라서 주간엽의 전개속도는 빨라지는 경향이었으며, 품종별로는 복광벼, 상풍벼, YR3486-16-2 등은 민감하였으나 Janack, 밀양4002 등은 다소 둔감한 편이었다 3. 영양생장기에 비하여 생식성장기에 1엽전개 소요일수가 두드러지게 늘어난 품종은 Janack, Paro-white 등이 었 다. 4. 1엽전개 소요일수의 품종간 차이는 수온이 높았던 영양생장기보다 상대적으로 수온이 낮았던 생식성장기에 켰다 5. 수온이 비슷한 조건일 때 수온의 차이에 의한 전체 공시품종의 평균 1엽전개소요일수의 영양생장기와 생식생장기의 생육단계간 차이는 인정되지 않았으며, 수온 13$^{\circ}C$-23$^{\circ}C$ 범위에서는 1$^{\circ}C$ 상승에 따라 1.3 일만큼 감소하는 것으로 추정 되었다. 6. 수온에 따른 주간총엽수의 증감은 품종간에 차이가 있었다. 수온이 상승됨에 따라 1 엽이 증가된 품종은 복광벼, 광명벼, China 988, YR3486-16 등이었고, 주간총엽수의 변화가 없었던 품종은 소백벼, Paro-white, 상풍벼, 풍산벼, 삼강벼, 밀양4002 등이었다 7. Janack 품종은 수온의 상승에 따라 주간총엽수가 증가되면서, 출수일수도 늘어났지만, 그밖의 품종들은 수온 차이에 의한 주간총엽수의 변화와는 관계없이 수온 상승에 따라 출수일수가 단축되었는데, 그 정도는 품종마다 달랐다.

식이섬유용 식품섭취빈도조사지 개발 및 이를 이용한 충북지역 중학생의 식이섬유 섭취 실태 (The Development of the Dietary Fiber Food Frequency Questionnaire and the Dietary Fiber Intake of Middle School Students in the Chungbuk Province)

  • In this study, the FFQ-50 questionnaire which composed of 50 food items frequently eaten as sources of dietary fiber, was developed and used to estimate the dietary fiber intake of middle school students in the Chungbuk province. According to the survey, the average daily intakes of dietary fiber for the boys and girls were $23.3{\pm}12.3$ g (93.2%) and $20.8{\pm}11.5$ g (104.0%), respectively, showing a significant difference between the gender. The proportions of boys and girls who did not reach to the sufficient dietary fiber intake were 66.2% and 53.9% respectively. The major sources of dietary fiber were grain foods and vegetables, which measured at 77.24%, followed by fruits, seaweeds, tofu and tofu products, potato and starch, and mushrooms. The cooked white rice contributed the highest (17.81%), followed by baechu-kimchi, cooked brown rice, ramyeon (instant noodle), tangerine, sesame leaf jangajji (pickled sesame leaf), topokki (spicy rice cake stir-fry), blanched and seasoned bean sprouts, bread, and radish kimchi. The study showed that the cooked white rice was the major source of dietary fiber in the boys' diet followed by baechu-kimchi, ramyeon, cooked brown rice, tangerine, bread, strawberry, blanched and seasoned bean sprouts, sesame leaf jangajji, radish kimchi. Girls were taking in dietary fiber mostly from boiled white rice followed by baechu-kimchi, boiled brown rice, tangerine, ramyeon, sesame leaf jangajji, topokki, blanched and seasoned bean sprouts, radish kimchi, and boiled barley.

The effects of LED light quality on ecophysiological and growth responses of Epilobium hirsutum L., a Korean endangered plant, in a smart farm facility

  • Background: Epilobium hirsutum L. is designated as an endangered plant in South Korea located in Asia, due to the destruction of its habitats through the development of wetlands. Therefore, in this study, in order to find a light condition suitable for the growth and ecophysiological responses of Epilobium hirsutum L., those of this plant under treatment with various light qualities in a smart farm were measured. Results: In order to examine the changes in the physiological and growth responses of Epilobium hirsutum L. according to the light qualities, the treatment with light qualities of the smart farm was carried out using the red light: blue light irradiation time ratios of 1:1, 1:1/2, and 1:1/5 and a red light: blue light: white light irradiation time ratio of 1:1:1. As a result, the ecophysiological responses (difference between leaf temperature and atmospheric temperature, transpiration rate, net photosynthetic rate, intercellular CO2 partial pressure, photosynthetic quantum efficiency) to light qualities appeared differently according to the treatments with light qualities. The increase in the blue light ratio increased the difference between the leaf temperature and the atmospheric temperature and the photosynthetic quantum efficiency and decreased the transpiration rate and the intercellular CO2 partial pressure. On the other hand, the white light treatment increased the transpiration rate and intercellular CO2 partial pressure and decreased the temperature difference between the leaf temperature and the ambient temperature and photosynthetic quantum efficiency. Conclusions: The light condition suitable for the propagation by the stolons, which are the propagules of Epilobium hirsutum L., in the smart farm, is red, blue and white mixed light with high net photosynthetic rates and low difference between leaf temperature and atmospheric temperature.

실내에서 LED광질이 관엽식물의 생장에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of LED Light Quality on Foliage Plants Growths in Interior Environment)

  • In the results of investigating the role of LED light quality in enhancing the ornamental value of indoor foliage plants, amber and red light increased plant height, leaf width, and leaf stalk, and the consequent tree shape decreased the ornamental value. The chlorophyll content increased significantly under white light and compound light. With regard to the effect of plant leaf color on ornamental value, the value of lightness was markedly enhanced by red light. As to the functionality of plants according to photosynthetic activity, plants such as Dieffenbachia, Clusia, and Dracaena were found favorable to those staying indoors for a longtime from morning to evening. Spathiphyllum, and Ficus were found to be recommendable for indoor spaces used actively during afternoon because their photosynthesis was activated in the afternoon. With regard to power consumption according to light quality, white light consumed 119 W/hour, around 45% lower than that of fluorescent lamps, so it is considered the optimal artificial light quality that can enhance energy efficiency. Red light consumed 72 W/hour, only 33% of that of fluorescent lamps, but it was not considered the optimal light quality because plant growth was poor under the light quality. White light and compound light were found to be the ideal light sources for improving the functionality and ornamental value of indoor plants and reducing the cost of maintenance, but because compound light hinders people from recognizing the original color of plants and makes their eyes easily tired, white light was considered the optimal light satisfying all of the ornamental value, economic efficiency and functionality resulting from plant growth.

예취주기가 White Clover의 질소고정과 질소 및 탄수화물 분배에 미치는 영향 ($N_2$Fixation and Partitioning of Nitrogen and Carbohydrate in White Clover as Affected by Defoliation Interval)

  • White clover는 많은 장점에도 불구하고 계속방목에 대한 적응력이 낮아 존속연한이 짧은 것이 결점이다. 따라서 본 시험은 white clover 혼파초지관이에 필요한 정보를 제공하기 위하여 예취주기의 장단(7일, 14일, 28일)이 28일의 재생기간 동안 잎의 크기가 다른 white clover 품종(Osceola, Huia, S184)의 질소고정, 각부위(잎과 엽병, 포복경 및 뿌리)별 total nonstructural carbohyd-rate(TNC) 및 질소의 분배에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위하여 온실에서 pot 시험으로 실시한 바 그 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. TNC 함량은 포복경과 뿌리에서 예취주기를 7일에서 28일로 늘임으로써 증가하였고 대엽종인 Osceola에서 가장 높은 함량을 보인 반면, 중엽종인 Huia와 소엽종인 5184은 각부위간분배가 다른 것으로 나타났다. 2. 질소함양은 전부위에서 이상의 포복경과 뿌리의 TNC 함량과 유사한 반응을 보였다. 3. TNC 함량은 뿌리보다는 잎과 엽병 또는 포복경에서 많은 반면, 질소함량은 엽병, 뿌리, 포복경의 순으로 감소하였다. 4. 예취로 인하여 전부위의 TNC 및 질소 함량은 감소하였으나, 재생기간이 길어짐으로써 증가하는 경향이었다. 또한 예취주기에 따라 재생기간 중 각부위간 TNC 및 질소 분배에는 차이가 있는 것으로 조사되었다. 5. 질소고정은 예취주기가 7일에서 28일로 증가함으로써 증가하고 대엽종일수록 큰 것으로 나타났으며, 예취 3일후까지는 감소하다가 그 이후에는 증가하였다.

Mathematical Constants for Non-Destructive Rapid Method of Leaf Area Determination in Mulberry (Morus spp.)

  • Mathematical constants for multiplication with leaf length (I) or breadth (b) or l ${\times}$ b have been worked out for determining leaf area in promising mulberry genotypes viz., Chinese White, S-146, Chak Majra and Sujanpur Local of sub-tropical India. When pooled, the mathematical constants worked out were 8.1132, 10.1019 and 0.5992 for multiplication with leaf length, breadth and l ${\times}$ b, respectively, for genotypes bearing un-lobbed leaves and 6.9447, 8.2761 and 0.5009 for multiplication with leaf length, breadth and l ${\times}$ b, respectively for genotypes bearing lobbed leaves. Leaf area can be worked out by using any constant by multiplying either with leaf length or breadth or both (l ${\times}$ b). Estimated leaf areas worked out were found significantly and positively correlated with actual leaf area (r=999$^{**}$). The suggested present non-destructive method by using mathematical constants is very quick and alternative to electronic leaf area meter for spot leaf area determination in mulberry which is the only food source for mulberry silkworm in sericulture industry.

Leaf Blight of Kudzu (Pueraria lobata) caused by Fusarium solani

  • Leaf blight of kudzu ( Pueraria lobata ) was found in Jeonbuk province in 2002. The main symptoms appeared as leaf blight and showed yellowing and wilting. The causal pathogen of the leaf blight was isolated from symptomed kudzu leaf and produced white to cream, usually floccose mycelium. It readily formed reddish orange mycelium on PDA. It produced typical microconidia and macroconidia. The microconidia were the reniform. The macroconidia were wide, slightly curved, usually 3 to 4 septate and size was 45 ∼ 85 ${\times}$ 5 ∼ l0$\mu\textrm{m}$. The pathogen produced chlamydospore singly on short hyphal branches within 2 to 3 weeks, which was hyaline, globose, and smooth walled. The pathogen was, therefore, identified as Fusarium solani based on cultural and morphological characters. This is the first report on the leaf blight of kudzu caused by Fusarium solani in Korea.

  • 신미종(辛味種) 고추(Saemaeul No. 1)의 polyethylene-film house 재배시에 피복재료로써 광질이 다른 white, blue, green 및 red color의 0.06mm polyethylene film을 사용하여 재배시험을 행하고 생육상태를 조사한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 초장은 red구가 78.8cm로서 가장 크고 white구가 다음이였으며, blue, green구는 각각 67.4, 63.6cm로 매우 저조하였다. 그리고 $5{\sim}7$단 사이의 잎의 평균중량은 white, red구가 각각 0.40, 0.39g으로써 비슷하였고 blue, green 구에서는 0.31. 0.32g으로써 초장에서와 같이 생장상태가 불량하였다. 2. 착과율은 white.구가 48.0%, red구가 46.1%로서 white구가 다소 높았으며, blue, green구에서는 착과가 되지 않았다. 그리고 과실의 중량은 red구가 3.32g으로써 white구의 2.81g보다 높았으며, 또 재배중에 유색(blue, green, Red)구, 그중에서도 red구가 white구에서 보다 충해가 적음을 관찰할 수가 있었다. 3. 잎의 무기질 중에서 K. Mg는 생육상태가 불량한 blue, green구에서 white, red구보다 많았고 Fe는 green구에서, 그리고 Mn은 blue구에서 가장 많았으며, white구에서는 Fe, Mn이 다같이 적었다.

배추조직의 형태학적 특성과 세포벽 다당류의 조성 (Morphological Characteristics and Composition of Cell Wall Polysaccharides of Brassica campestris var. pekinensis (Baechu))

  • This study was conducted to examine morphological characteristics and the content of cell wall polysaccharides of Brassica campestris var. pekinensis(baechu). First of all, the variety of scientific name and naming of parts of baechu in the literatures of kimchi showed, which will unify marks. So, we propose not so much mid-rib and leaf blade of baechu leaf as white part and green part, respectively. On the other hand, the forms of vessel elements of white part in baechu consist in ring, sclariform and reticulate thickening. The proximate compositions and contents of cell wall polysaccharides of baechu has significant differences between its cultivars. The cell wall pectin from baechu exhibited four peals with molecular weights of 2,000,000, about 100,000 and less than 10,000 by gel filteration chromatography and hemicellulose did two peaks with molecular weights of 2,000,000 and 10,000.
