In the course of an investigation on the morphological variation of Korean striped bittering, Acheilognathus vamatsutae Mori, two kinds of morrholoflical types were found. Some morphological characters were compared between them and multivariate analysis was conducted. Since the difference of the barbel length between them was very significant (p < 0.01,1-test), they should be designated as L-and 5-type Hshes: fishes with long barbels and those with should barbels, respectively. Lateral line scales, snout length and prepectoral length showed a tendency that the observation could be distinguished from each other (p < 0.05, Duncan's multiple range tests. There were no individuals over 70 mm BL in S-type and so S-type fishes were somewhat dwarf than L-type fishes. The two types were also clearly distinguished by multivariate analyses using cluster and discriminant analyses. According to the observation on the four populations of the Naktong River, the blue-green stripe on the body side and the white band on the margin of anal fin in males of S-type fishes were well developed through the year but those of males of L-type fishes completely disappeared or became slender during nonbreedins season as that of females. Of the seven localities surveved, there were no places that the two types cohabit. S-type fishes are limited only in the Kumho and Wichon River of the Naktong River system but L-type fishes are distributed more widely In the Hongchon, Mangvons, Somjin, Mirang and Panbyon River.

RR Tel is an interacting binary system in which a hot white dwarf (WD) accretes matter from a Mira variable via gravitational capture of the stellar wind. We present a high-resolution optical spectrum of RR Tel obtained with MIKE at Magellan-Clay telescope, Chile. We find broad emission features at 6825, 7082, 7023, and $7053{\AA}$, which are formed through Raman scattering of far-UV O VI ${\lambda}{\lambda}$ 1032 and $1038{\AA}$, C II ${\lambda}{\lambda}$ 1036 and $1037{\AA}$ with atomic hydrogen. Raman O VI 6825 and 7082 features are characterized by double-peaked profiles indicative of an accretion flow with a characteristic speed ~ 30km/s, whereas the Raman C II features exhibit a single Gaussian profile with FWHM ${\sim}10{\AA}$. Monte Carlo simulations for Raman O VI and C II are performed by assuming that the emission nebula around the WD consists of the inner O VI disk with a representative scale of 1 AU and the outer part with C II sphere. The best fit for Raman profiles is obtained with an asymmetric matter distribution of the O VI disk, the mass loss rate of the cool companion ${\dot{M}}{\sim}2{\times}10^{-6}M_{{\odot}/yr}$ and the wind terminal velocity v~10 km/s. We also find O VI doublet at 3811 and $3834{\AA}$, which are blended with other emission lines. Our profile decomposition shows that the O VI ${\lambda}{\lambda}$ 3811, 3834 doublet have a single Gaussian profile with a width ~ 25 km/s. A comparison of the restored fluxes of C II ${\lambda}{\lambda}$ 1036 and 1037 from Raman C II features with the observed C II ${\lambda}1335$ leads to an estimate of a lower bound of N(CII) > $9.87{\times}10^{13}cm^{-2}$ toward RR Tel, which appears consistent with the presumed distance D ~ 2.6 kpc.
The progenitor of Type Ia supernovae is largely expected as a close binary system of a carbon/oxygen white dwarf (WD) primary and its secondary non-degenerate (single degenerate; SD) or degenerate companion (double degenerate; DD). Here we present a high-cadence monitoring observation of SN 2021hpr in a spiral galaxy, NGC 3147. SN 2021hpr shows typical characteristics as a normal type Ia supernova from its photometric (Δm15(B)=1.01±0.03, dust free MB,max=-19.45±0.02) and spectroscopic data. To investigate its progenitor system, we fit the early part of BVRI-band light curve simultaneously with a combined version of ejecta-companion and simple power-law model. As a result, we found a significant feature of an early excess possibly from a 7.63±0.52R⊙-sized companion at the optimal viewing angle while the fit is not successful at the common viewing angle. No possible red sources brighter than F555W=-7.01 AB mag is detected at the SN location in Hubble Space Telescope (HST) pre-explosion images, excluding massive stars with initial mass of >16M⊙ as companions. We suggest the progenitor system of SN 2021hpr can be a fairly large companion such as a main sequence, a low mass subgiant, and a helium giant star. In addition, a possibility of the ejecta-Disk Originated Matter (DOM) interaction for the DD scenario considering linearly-rising early flux still remains.
The progenitor of Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) is mainly believed to be a close binary system of acarbon-oxygen white dwarf (CO WD) and non-degenerate companion (single degenerate) or another WD (double degenerate). However, it is unclear which system is more prevalent. Here, we present a high cadence optical/Near-IR light curve of normal but slightly faint type Ia SN 2019ein from IMSNG project. We fit the early light curve (t <+8.3 days from the first detection) with various models to find the shock-heated cooling emission from SN ejecta-companion interaction. No significant shock-heated cooling emission is found, from which we constrain the progenitor star size as the following. The upper limit (Rupper,*) of the companion size in R-band is ~0.2R⊙ when forcing the first light time (tfl) to have one value and ~0.9R⊙ when using the mean value of tfl from the fitting in each band. Assuming the source of the I-band curve is almost powered from the radioactive decay, we obtained Rupper,*~1.2R⊙. The early B-V color curve is in agreement with the model color curve of the 2M⊙ main sequence companion. These results allow us to at least rule out large stars like red giants as a companion star of the binary progenitor system of this supernova. B-R and V-R color do not show any significant signs of a red bump, which shows a thin helium shell (MHe<0.1M⊙) for the sub-Mch WD (double detonation model). In addition, we estimated the distance to NGC 5353 as 37.098±0.028Mpc.
The progenitor of Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) is mainly believed to be a carbon/oxygen white dwarf (WD) with non-degenerate (single degenerate) or another WD companion (double degenerate). However, there is little observational evidence of their progenitor system. Recent studies suggest that shock-breakout cooling emission after the explosion can constrain the size of the progenitor system. To do so, we obtained a optical/Near-IR light curve of SN 2019ein, a normal but slightly sub-luminous type Ia supernova, from the very early phase using our high-cadence observation of Intensive Monitoring Survey of Nearby Galaxies (IMSNG). Assuming the expanding fireball model, the simple power-law fitting of the early part of the light curve gives power indices of 1.91 (B) and 2.09 (R) implying radioactive decay of 56Ni is the dominant energy source. By comparison with the expected light curve of the cooling emission, the early observation provides us an upper limit of the companion size of R∗≤1R⊙. This result suggests that we can exclude a large companion such as red giants, which is consistent with the previous study.

It had resistance to winter hardiness, wet-soil tolerance and lodging tolerance. "Baegjoong" showed moderate to pre-harvest sprouting (23.9%) although "Keumkang" is susceptible to pre-harvest sprouting (38.9%). "Baegjoong" had similar flour yield (72.4%) and ash content (0.41%) to "Keumkang" (72.0% and 0.41%, respectively) and similar flour color to "Keumkang". It showed lower protein content (8.8%) and SDS-sedimentation volume (35.3 ml) and shorter mixograph mixing time (3.8 min) than "Keumkang" (11.0%, 59.7 ml and 4.5 min, respectively). Amylose content and pasting properties of "Baegjoong" were similar to "Keumkang". "Baegjoong" had softer and more elastic texture of cooked noodles than "Keumkang". To investigate the effect of light sources on the growth and photosynthesis of the dwarf apple rootstock M.9 for the production of standard seedlings, the plants were cultivated in a controlled environment for 6 weeks. The sources of light are six treatments [Red (R), Blue (B), White (W), RBUV (R7B3 containing UV-A), RBW (R3B1W1), SMF (high pressure sodium + metal halide + fluorescent lamp) under $154{\mu}mol{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$. Growth characteristics of apple seedlings varied depending on artificial light source at 3 weeks and 6 weeks. The plant height of apple seedling was high in the R, RBUV, RBW, and SMF light sources at 3 weeks, and in the R light at 6 weeks. There was no significant difference on stem diameter among the treatments at 3 weeks, but showed high in RBUV and RBW light at 6 weeks. Leaf number was the highest in RBUV light at 3 and 6 weeks. The chlorophyll content (SPAD value) was high in the B and RBUV light at 3 weeks, but it was not significant at 6 weeks. The growth rate to height of the R light (1.12mm/day) was the highest among the treatments, followed by RBUV, RBW, SMF, W and then B. Leaf area was the highest in RBUV and RBW lowest in B. Specific leaf area was high in W and fresh and dry weight were high in RBUV. The photosynthetic rate at 6 weeks was highest in the B and lowest in the R. Stomatal conductivity and transpiration rate were higher in the B and W compared to the other light sources. Therefore, we are considered that light sources for growth of dwarf apple rootstock M.9 seedlings are suitable the R, RBUV, and RBW light sources with a high mixing ratio of Red and Red +Blue.
M1 plants which were produced from seed soaking in chemical mutagen, EMS or NaN$_3$, appeared wide morphorogical variations such as dwarf, albino, twisted leaf, white streaked leaf, and purpled stem. In mutants of reproductive organs, there were monoecious plants such as female-flower plant and male-flower plant, multiple spikes, and steriled plants among M1 plants. Also, barren stalk was increased significantly in M1 plants. Ear bagging at ear initiation stage prevented seed set on cob in normal plants. In spite of ear bagging, M1 plants which had cobs with seed set was 3.9-11.2% of stalks developed from seeds soaking with mutagens, but only three or four kernels could be matured on a cob. Ear bagging after mutagen injection into initiating ear produced 5.1-10% in cobs with seed set, but only 1.7-6.3 kernels could be matured. Cobs removed silk at four hours after artificial pollination increased the rate of cobs with seed set to 27%. Microscopic observation confirmed that ontogeny of kernels matured from ear bagging and mutagen treatment would be both adventitious and diplosporous apomictic reproduction. Chromosome set of M2 seedling was found to be diploid type in chromosomal counting of root tip. As M$_2$ plants showed an uniform appearence within each lines and their CV of plant height were ranged 4-6% in each lines, we concluded that they were apomictic progeny. But we could not find any marker traits combined with apomixis.
The BVR CCD photometric observations of W UMa-type eclipsing binary SS Ari were made on ten nights from November 1996 to December 1996. Eight new times of minimum lights were derived. The analysis of times of minima of SS Ari confirms the suggestions of other previous investigators that the orbital period of SS Ari have been suffering from a sinusoidal varition. The amplitude and period for the cyclic period changes were calculated as about $58^{y}$ and $0.^{d}053$, respectively. The period variation has been discussed in terms of two potential mechanisms: 1) the light-time effect due to a hypothetical third body and 2) deformations in the convective envelope of a magnetically active component. In the earlier case, the third body has a mass of $1.3M_{\odot}$, if exist, in the form of a white dwarf or a binary system. It seems that the system velocities from the spectroscopic observations supports this interpretation. Meanwhile in the latter case, the primary component is mainly responsible for the magnetic activity of this system with a theoretical amplitude of $\pm0.^{m}08$. However, we cannot make a conclusion which is reasonable explanation at this point, due to lack of observational data. Moreover, the period variation of SS Ari shows duplication about $14^y$, cyclic period with an amplitude of about $0.^d001$ to the above periodic change. We also cannot make an acceptable conclusion for it at this time.
