Weight loss that influences quality and farmer incomes is affected by the storage environment of agricultural products. The interior of storage should be maintained at high humidity to prevent the weight loss of products which contain a lot of moisture. The research had constantly proceeded with change in the heat exchanger surface areas, humidity systems, and weight loss forecast to maintain high humidity within storage. Relative humidity that exerts an effect weight loss of crop is influenced by storage temperature, leak state, and volume of product. When weight loss is predicted, different conditions of these factors are derived. In case of CA storage, ways of forecasting the weight loss become easier compared to cold storage due to sealed storage with external environment during storage period. In this study, apples were stored in purge-type CA storage and weight loss has been predicted by using operating characteristics and environmental conditions. As a result, humidity variation in the storage fluctuates with the operation of the unit-cooler. Furthermore, unit-cooler operation factor is influenced by outside temperature and respiration heat. Prediction value of weight loss according to temperature and humidity has been most accurately predicted. Prediction value through defrosting water measured shows unit-cooler work quality. K-value needs verification to calculate the VPD method.
This study was performed to purify fig pectinesterase(F-PE) and characterize its in situ activity. Three kinds of F-PE were partially separated by using ammonium sulfate fractionation, Q-Sepharose column, CM-cation exchanger column chromatography, and HPLC. One of those was anionic protein and the others were cationic proteins. All of them had approximate molecular weight of 27,000 and lost rapidly their activity during storage. Therefore alternative crude enzyme was prepared by suspending the freeze dried and milled fig powder in 0.1 M NaCl at pH 7.5. F-PE had the optimum pH of 8.5, the optimum temperature of $50^{\circ}C$ with activation energy of 7,671 cal $mol^{-1}K^{-1}$ and stability up to $55^{\circ}C$ with 10 minutes heating. Optimum activity was obtained in $0.2{\sim}0.4$ M NaCl with optimum solubility at above 0.8 M NaCl.

Intercoolers for multi-stage turbocharger of the hydrogen reciprocating engine for HALE UAV are installed for reducing the charged air inlet temperature of the engine. The intercooler is air to air, cross flow, plate-fin type and the fin configuration is offset-strip fin which is referenced from the heat exchanger of the ERAST. Most of HALE UAV's cruising altitude is 60,000 ft and the density of air for this altitude is very low compared to sea level. Therefore the required heat transfer area for the HALE UAV is about three-times bigger than the sea level. Consequently, it is essential to design to meet the required efficiency of intercooler in the range of not excessively growing the weight of the heat exchanger. The quasi-one dimensional heat transfer design/analysis for satisfying the requirement of the engine are written in this paper. The numerical analyses for estimating the coolant flow rate of the engine bay and pressure loss in the header and core are also summarized.

The present study shows some results of developing evaporative heat exchangers with mini-channels. Heat exchangers with three different water paths were manufactured and tested to compare performances of cooling and pressure drop. Among the three types of heat exchangers, Type 2 with full-etching was proved to be the best in the cooling performances for considered operating conditions, and thus it is recommended to adopt Type 2 for its simplicity of production and outstanding performance. However, Type 1 was shown to be better when it is operated at a high air inlet temperature condition. The developed evaporative heat exchanger will be installed in Environmental Control Systems(ECSs) for aerial vehicles, and it can be used effectively in case an ECS is not only limited in its weight and volume but also required to absorb heats without supplying water (or a coolant) for a certain period of time.
In the present study, performance characteristics on environment change of A/C applied fin-tube and PF heat exchangers were experimentally investigated. Capacity and COP changing an outlet air velocity, an indoor/outdoor temperature and a relative humidity were obtained. Air-enthalpy calorimeter was used. As the air velocity, indoor temperature and relative humidity increase, capacity and COP increase. PF A/C has smaller refrigerant weight than the fin-tube A/C. The performance of PF-2 A/C with the squarer fin was more excellent than that of PF-1 A/C with the triangler fin.
High-molecular-weight ${\beta}-glucosidase$ (EC 3.2.1.21) was purified from the culture filtrate of Trichoderma koningii through a four-step procedure including chromatography on Bio-Gel P-150, DEAE-Sephadex A-50 and SP-Sephadex C-50; and chromatofocusing on Polybuffer exchanger PBE 94. The molecular weight of the enzyme was determined to be about 101,000 by SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoreses, and the isoelectric point was estimated to be 4.96 by analytical isoelectric focusing. The temperature optimum for activity was about $55^{\circ}C$, and the pH optimumwas 3.5. The enzyme was considerably thermostable, for no loss of activity was observed when the enzyme was preincubated at $60^{\circ}C$ for 5h. Km values for cellobiose, gentiobiose, sophorose, salicin and $p-nitrophenyl-{\betha}-D-glucoside$ were 99.2, 14.7, 7.09, 3.15 and 0.70 mM, respectively, which indicates that the enzyme has much higher affinity towards $p-nitrophenyl-{\betha}-D-glucoside$ than towards the other substrates, especially cellobiose. Substrate inhibition by $p-nitrophenyl-{\betha}-D-glucoside$ and salicin was observed at the conecntrations exceeding 5mM. Gluconolactone was a powerful inhibitor against the action of the enzyme on $p-nitrophenyl-{\betha}-D-glucoside\;(K_i\;37.9\;{\mu}M)$, wherease glucose was much less effective ($K_i$ 1.95 mM). Inhibition was of the competitive type in each case. Transglucosylation activity was detected shen the readtion products formed from $p-nitrophenyl-{\betha}-D-glucoside$ by the enzyme were analysed using high-performance liquid chromatography.
In this work, sulfonated poly(phenylene sulfide) (SPPS) was prepared by demethylation with aqueous NaOH solution after poly[methyl[4-(phenylthio)phenyl]sulfonium trifluoromethanesulfonate](PPST) was sulfonated with fumic sulfonic acid(10% $SO_{3}-H_{2}SO_{4}$). PPST soluble in organic solvents was synthesiszed by self-condensation polymerization of methyl-(phenylthio)phenyl sulfoxide(MPPSO). SPPS showed IR bands of asymmetric O=S=O stretching at $1200cm^{-1}$ and S-O stretching at $621cm^{-1}$ from $-SO_{3}H$ group. From the result, it could be known that sulfonic acid groups were introduced to poly(phenylene sulfide). when PPST was sulfonated for 12hr at $150^{\circ}C$, 1.48 sulfonic acid groups were introduced per repeat unit. The weight average molecular weight(Mw) of PPST and SPPS determined by high temperature GPC were 118323 and 131204, respectively. The SPPS exhibited adsorption capacity of ammonia gas $9.67mmol\;NH_{3}/g$ and it was much higher than that of active carbon or silica gel.
In order to evaluate the utility of the anthocyanin pigments in Ganges Amaranth as an edible pigment, this study was designed to isolate and identify the anthocyanins. The anthocyanins present in leaves of Ganges Amaranth were extracted with 0.1% HCl in methanol. The extracted pigments were purified by organic solvent treatment and Amberlite CG-400 Type cation exchanger, and then separated into individual pigments by paper chromatography with n-butanol-formic acid-water(100:25:60, v/v) as a solvent system. The separated pigments were identified by their Rf values, sugar moieties, complete hydrolysis and spectral characteristics in the visible and ultraviolet regions. The amounts of individual anthocyanins were also determined. The results obtained from these experiments were as follows. 1. Chromatograms of the Ganges Amaranth extract developed with BFW yielded three anthocyanin bands. The two of the anothocyanin bands were tentatively identified as malvidin-3-glucoside(acylated with caffeic acid) in band 1 and peonidin-3-glucoside (acylated with caffeic acid) in band 2. But the anthocyanin in band 3 was not identified due to extremly low concentration. 2. The amount of total anthocyanins was 101.57 mg/100g fresh weight of leaves in which 82.15 mg of malvidin-3-glucoside (acylated with caffeic acid) and 27.20 mg of peonidin-3-glucoside(acylated with caffeic acid) were contained per 100g fresh weight. Maividin-3-glucoside acylated with the acid was, therefore, the most abundant pigment in the Ganges Amaranth.
This study was conducted to investigate the effects of artificial zeolite and various ion exchangers supplemented in rockwool on the ion exchangability of muskmelon. The results obtained were as follows ; Plant height was higher in the treatment of Ca type artificial zeolite as of 131.2cm than that of control as of 124cm, and same trends were shown in fresh weight of leaf and stem. Fruit weight was increased by supplement of artificial zeolite, but there were no significant differences in the sugar degree and external appearance as influenced by supplementing artificial zeolite. Supplement of artificial zeolite stabilized the pH and increased the ion exchange capacity of nutrient solution. Nutrient absorption was more favorable and led to growth promotion. This study was demonstrated that supplement of artificial zeolite in rockwool slab was improved the stabilization of root environment and increased ion uptake of muskmelon plant.

While most of researches on the performance of high temperature grain dryer have dealt mainly with improving dryer capacity and drying speed during the last twenty years, energy efficiency, in fact, has not been emphasized. Current fuel supplies and energy cost have shifted the emphasis to reducing the energy consumption for grain drying while maintaining dryer capacity and grain quality. Since the energy input for drying is relatively large, the recovery and reuse of at least part of the exhaust energy can significantly reduce the total energy consumption in existing drying systems. Unilization of exhaust heat in grain dryer either through direct recycling or by a thermal coupling in heat exchanger have been subject of a number of investigators. However, very seldom research in Korea has been done in this area. Three drying tests(non-recycling, 0.22 recycle ratio, and 0.76 recycle ratio)were performed to investigate the thermal efficiency and heat loss factors of continuous flow type dryer, and to analyze the effect of recycle ratio (weight of exhaust air recycled/total weight of input air) on the energy requriements for rough rice drying. The test results showed that when the exhaust air was not recycled, the energy lost from furnace was 15.3 percent of input fuel energy, and latent and sensible heat of exhaust air were 61.4 percent and 11.2 percent respectively. The heat which was required in raising grain temperature and stored in dryer was relatively small. As the recycle ratio of exhaust air was increased, the drying rate was suddenly decreased, and thermal efficiency of the kerosene burner was also decreased. Drying test with 0.76 recycle ratio resulted in 12.4% increase in fuel consumption, and 38.4% increase in electric power consumption as compared to the non-recycled drying test. Drying test of 0.22 recycle ratio resulted in 6.8% saving in total energy consumption, 8.0% reduction in fuel consumption, and 2.5% increase in electric power consumption as compared to the non-recycled drying test.
