The nuclear steam generator level control system is designed by robust control methods. The feedwater controller is designed by three methods of the H$\infty$, the mixed weight sensitivity and the structured singular value. Then the controller located on the feedback loop of the level control system is designed. For the system performance, the controller of simple PID whose coefficients vary with the power is selected. The simulations show that the system has a good performance with proper stability margins.
This experiment was designed to evaluate the effects of the processing method of common vetch seed (CVS) (Vicia sativa) on laying performance, egg quality, metabolic parameters and liver histopatology during the peak production period in hens. Lohman layers, 46 wk of age in 6 replicate cages each containing 4 hens, were allocated randomly to one of four dietary treatments. Diets were control (C) diet containing no common vetch and experimental diets containing 25% raw common vetch (RCV), 25% soaked in water for 72 h with exchange of water every 24 h (SCV) and 25% soaked&boiled at $100^{\circ}C$ for 30 minute common vetch (SBCV). Inclusion of RCV into the diet deteriorated all laying performance variables. SCV did not alleviate the adverse effect of raw common vetch on feed intake, egg weight, feed conversion, final weight and weight change. SCV partially alleviated egg production (p<0.001). SBCV diminished the adverse effect on feed intake, egg weight, feed conversion, final weight and weight change compared to raw vicia sativa (p<0.001). No significant difference was detected between SBCV and the control group in terms of egg production, feed conversion, final weight and weight change. Regardless of the processing method, all the common vetch groups had lower shell strength compared to the control group. Haugh units did differ between all groups (p<0.001). Inclusion of RCV and SCV into the basal diet decreased triglyceride, cholesterol, total protein and serum glucose concentrations (p<0.001). Hovewer, inclusion of SBCV into the basal diet increased these parameters. Liver samples were stained with Hematoxylin and eosin (HE) and evaluated by light microscopy. A biopsy of native liver tissue was used as a control. No histopathologic finding was present in the control group. Raw V. sativa compared with the control caused lipid accumulations in hepatocytes, severe congestion of hepatic blood vessels, inflammation, increased numbers of Kupffer cells and sinusoidal dilatations. Whereas, the livers from groups given treated V. sativa showed only different degrees of sinusoidal dilatations. Findings from the present study point out the risk of increased hepatic damage due to use of raw Vicia sativa. Increasing treatment of V. sativa lead to a decrease of liver damages. Inclusion of raw and soaked vetch seeds in rations affected adversely all parameters examined in laying hens. But alleviation was observed when soaked and boiled vetch seeds (SBCV) were fed. The results of these experiments indicated that soaked&boiled Vicia sativa seeds may safely be used at a 25% level in rations of laying hens.
The object of the present study is to examine the effect of physical training during early growth of life on body weight gain and physical performance. Early weaned (2 weeks after birth) male mice were divided into control and training group-and experimental period was divided into growing period (from 1st week to 6th weeks after weaning) and adult period (from 7th weeks to 9th weeks after weaning). Physical training was. given on a small animal treadmill with a speed of 34.3m/min and $19^{\circ}C$ slope and both groups of body weight gain and maximal running time on the treadmill were determined. The results obtained are summarized as follows; 1. Body weight gain was lesser in training group than control group and the difference was. statistically significant at 1, 2.5, 5.7 weeks of training period. 2. Maximal running time of training group was found to be longer than that of control group at 6th (p<0.01), 8th (p<0.001) and 9th weeks. (p<0.01). From the above results, it may be concluded that if physical training is started in early growth of life, there might be an improvement of physical performance.

Objective: Enterotypes (ETs) are the clustering of gut microbial community structures, which could serve as indicators of growth performance and carcass traits. However, ETs have been sparsely investigated in waterfowl. The objective of this study was to identify the ileal ETs and explore the correlation of the ETs with growth performance and carcass traits in Muscovy ducks. Methods: A total of 200 Muscovy ducks were randomly selected from a population of 5,000 ducks at 70-day old, weighed and slaughtered. The growth performance and carcass traits, including body weight, dressed weight and evidenced weight, dressed percentage, percentage of apparent yield, breast muscle weight, leg muscle weight, percentage of leg muscle and percentage of breast muscle, were determined. The contents of ileum were collected for the isolation of DNA and 16S rRNA gene sequencing. The ETs were identified based on the 16S rRNA gene sequencing data and the correlation of the ETs with growth performance and carcass traits was performed by Spearman correlation analysis. Results: Three ETs (ET1, ET2, and ET3) were observed in the ileal microbiota of Muscovy ducks with significant differences in number of features and α-diversity among these ETs (p<0.05). Streptococcus, Candida Arthritis, and Bacteroidetes were the presentative genus in ET1 to ET3, respectively. Correlation analysis revealed that Lactococcus and Bradyrhizobium were significantly correlated with percentage of eviscerated yield and leg muscle weight (p<0.05) while ETs were found to have a close association with percentage of eviscerated yield, leg muscle weight, and percentage of leg muscle in Muscovy ducks. However, the growth performance of ducks with different ETs did not show significant difference (p>0.05). Lactococcus were found to be significantly correlated with leg muscle weight, dressed weight, and percentage of eviscerated yield. Conclusion: Our findings revealed a substantial variation in carcass traits associated with ETs in Muscovy ducks. It is implied that ETs might have the potential to serve as a valuable biomarker for assessing duck carcass traits. It would provide novel insights into the interaction of gut microbiota with growth performance and carcass traits of ducks.
Two experiments were conducted to evaluate the dietary supplemental fruit extract(Bio-plus) on performance and intestinal microflora of broiler chicks. Seven treatments were allocated into control, 0.05, 0.10, 0.20, 0.10, 0.20, 0.40, 0.80, 1.60% with four replications for five weeks, in both experiments. Diets contained 21.5% CP, 3, 100 kcal/kg ME for the rest two weeks. Weight gain, feed intake, feed conversion ratio(FCR) were weekly measured. Birds were sacrificed to examine the E. coli and Salmonella from cecum and ileum at the end of experiment. In experiment 1, Weight gain of Bio plus treatments tended to increase compared to that of control, but was not consistency between them. Chicks fed Bio-plus showed significantly lower feed conversion ratio(FCR) than control(P〈0.05). In experiment 2, Weight gain of Bio plus treatments was significantly different from control(P〈0.05) for starting period and linearly increased upto 0.80% for the rest of two weeks, but was not significantly different. Feed intake of chicks fed Bio-plus tended to be higher than control. Bio-plus treatments was not statistically different FCR from control. ND titer showed no significance, but tended to be higher in Bio-plus treatments than control. The number of ileum salmonella was significantly decreased in Bio-plus treatments compared to that of control in expt 2 (P〈0.05). Total yeast and Lactobacillus spp. of illeum tended to increase in expt 1 and were significantly higher in expt 2 than control(P〈0.05). The results of these experiment indicated that dietary Bio-plus supplements increased weight gain, the number of ileum yeast and Lactobacillus spp. of broiler chicks.
This paper represents the preliminary design process and the performance of the sounding rockets. At the design phase of the development, we selected rocket configuration according to results of aerodynamic weight and thrust analysis. And the payload-apogee performance of the rockets are determined with the variation of the launch angle and payload weight. Also the performance trajectory was calculated by a particle trajectory simulation. And the parameters which affect the system performance was analyzed.
This experiment was carried out to observe a biological effect of ginseng on the weight gain, physical performance and lactic acid production after exercise in mice. A group of mice weighing about 19 gm was divided into ginseng and cotrol group. on the treadmill (Exp. I & II) and LDH activity of liver and heart homogenates (Exp. II) were determined. Results are summerized as follows; 1. Body weight gain was greater id ginseng group than in control and the difference was statistically significant at 9th and 16th days of experimental period. 2. Maximal running time of ginseng was found to be longer than that of control (p<0.05) in experiment I and the experiment II also revealed the significant increase in maximal running time in ginseng group. 3. Bloo lactate concentration of 48 hour-rest from physical exertion was lower in ginseng group than in control (p<0.05). 4. LDH activity in liver homogenate was lower compared to control group, but in heart homogenate, it was greater in ginseng group. Above findings may be concluded tat the range of biological dose (20 mg/mice/day) of ginseng powder stimulated the body weight gain and increase of physical performance and its mechanism might be attributable to a lower level of blood lactic acid. The adaptive change of LDH activity also contributed to the change in lactate level in blood and tissue.

Proportional.Integral.Derivative control schemes continue to provide the simplest and effective solutions to most of the control engineering applications today. However PID controller is poorly tuned in practice with most of the tuning done manually which is difficult and time consuming. This research comes up with a soft computing approach involving Genetic Algorithm, Evolutionary Programming, and Particle Swarm Optimization and Ant colony optimization. The proposed algorithm is used to tune the PID parameters and its performance has been compared with the conventional methods like Ziegler Nichols and Lambda method. The results obtained reflect that use of heuristic algorithm based controller improves the performance of process in terms of time domain specifications, set point tracking, and regulatory changes and also provides an optimum stability. This research addresses comparison of tuning of the PID controller using soft computing techniques on Machine Direction of basics weight control in pulp and paper industry. Compared to other conventional PID tuning methods, the result shows that better performance can be achieved with the soft computing based tuning method. The ability of the designed controller, in terms of tracking set point, is also compared and simulation results are shown.

PURPOSE: To evaluate the effect of weight shift training with Hula Hoop on weight shift change and gait in stroke patients. METHODS: Ten stroke patients were enrolled in this study, and randomly divided into 2 groups. The study group underwent weight shift training with Hula Hoop, while the control group received general physical therapy that included weight shift training. All the studies were performed over a period of 4 weeks. Before and after the intervention, plantar pressure and performance in the 10 m walk test (10MWT) were assessed. Wilcoxon signed ranks test was used to compare the change from before to after the intervention in each group. The differences between the study and control groups were analyzed by using the Mann-Whitney test. RESULTS: After 4 weeks of intervention, the change in weight shift and performance in the 10MWT from before to after the experiment showed no statistical significance (p>.05). In addition, the comparison between the groups showed no significance in terms of weight-shift change, and performance in the 10MWT (p>.05). CONCLUSION: Although the difference was not statistically significant, the degree of improvement was similar to that attained with the conventional exercise treatment related to weight- shift training. During the course of the treatment, the patients received feedback through repeated training by themselves. Weight-shift training with Hula Hoop would be effective in improving the walking ability and weight-shifting on the paralyzed side of stroke patients. In the future, the effectiveness of this training would need to be validated.
One hundred and sixty crossbred pigs ($6.62{\pm}0.36kg$) weaned at day $18{\pm}1$ were used to investigate the effects of lactitol and tributyrin on performance, small intestinal morphology and enzyme activity. The pigs were assigned to one of five dietary groups (4 pens/diet with 8 pigs/pen) and were fed the negative control diet or the negative control diet supplemented with 10 g/kg glutamine (as a positive control), or 3 g/kg lactitol (${\beta}$-D-galactopyranosyl-($1{\rightarrow}4$)-D-sorbitol), or 5 g/kg tributyrin (butanoic acid 1,2,3-propanetriyl ester), or 3 g/kg lactitol+5 g/kg tributyrin. Body weight and feed intake were measured weekly during the 4-week study. On day 7, four pigs per dietary treatment were sacrificed to examine small intestinal morphology and enzyme activity. The results showed that: (1) Compared with the negative control diet, the positive control diet improved weight gain and feed efficiency during weeks 1-2 and over the entire study (p<0.05), and also decreased duodenal and ileal crypt depth (p<0.05), but did not alter intestinal enzyme activity (p>0.05). Lactitol improved feed efficiency during weeks 3-4 and over the entire study (p<0.05), but did not improve weight gain and feed intake, intestinal morphology or enzyme activity (p>0.05). Tributyrin improved weight gain and reduced feed/gain during weeks 3-4 and over the entire study. Tributyrin significantly decreased crypt depth in the duodenum and ileum, and increased duodenal lactase and ileal maltase activity (p<0.05). Lactitol+tributyrin increased weight gain during weeks 3-4 and over the entire study, and improved feed efficiency during weeks 1-2 and 3-4 and over the entire study (p<0.05). Lactitol+tributyrin increased the jejunal villus height, and decreased the duodenal and ileal crypt depth (p<0.05). Lactitol+tributyrin also increased jejunal lactase and sucrase activity (p<0.05). (2) Compared with the positive control, tributyrin improved weight gain and reduced feed/gain during weeks 3-4 (p<0.05), decreased the ileal crypt depth, and improved the duodenal lactase and sucrase activity (p<0.05). Lactitol+ tributyrin improved weight gain during weeks 3-4, improved feed efficiency during weeks 3-4 and over the entire study, increased the ileal villus height, and increased jejunal lactase, sucrase and maltase activity (p<0.05). These results showed that tributyrin improved performance, intestinal morphology and enzyme activity, while the effect of lactitol was very limited. These results also showed that, compared with glutamine, tributyrin was more effective in improving intestinal morphology and enzyme activity, and tributyrin exerted a superior effect in improving performance as weaning progressed. These observations suggest that, as a chemical for repairing intestinal atrophy, glutamine and tributyrin should be used in the first and second periods of the starter phase, respectively.
