Design of a Online Digital Storytelling System Making a Cartoon Sketch into a Motion Picture (만화적 스케치의 동영상화를 이용한 온라인 디지털 스토리텔링 시스템 설계)

  • This paper proposes a digital storytelling system that employs a method of making users simple online sketch being animated in 3D. To help users focus on their story development, our proposed system gives sketch guidelines providing 3D scene structure, and publishes final results as animated scenes with story text across time. This system is based on the web and the authoring process can also be shared with others.

  • Commercial internet auction systems have been successfully used recently. In those systems, because reserve prices of auction items are given by sellers only, the success bid rate can be decreased due to the large difference between the reserve price and the normal price. In this paper, we propose an agent that generates reserve prices to sellers based on past auction data and item prices gathered from the web. Through performance experiments, we show that the successful bid rate increases by preventing sellers from making unreasonable reserve prices. Using the pricing agent, we design and implement an XML-based auction system on the web.

  • Hearing-impaired people have difficulty in hearing, so it is also hard for them to learn letters that represent sound and text that conveys complex and abstract concepts. Therefore it has been natural choice for the hearing-impaired people to use sign language for communication, which employes facial expression, and hands and body motion. However, the major communication methods in daily life are text and speech, which are big obstacles for the hearing-impaired people to access information, to learn and make intellectual activities, and to get jobs. As delivering information via internet become common the hearing-impaired people are experiencing more difficulty in accessing information since internet represents information mostly in text forms. This intensifies unbalance of information accessibility. This paper reports web-based text-to-sign language translating system that helps web designer to use sign language in web page design. Since the system is web-based, if web designers are equipped with common computing environment for internet browsing, they can use the system. The web-based text-to-sign language system takes the format of bulletin board as user interface. When web designers write paragraphs and post them through the bulletin board to the translating server, the server translates the incoming text to sign language, animates with 3D avatar and records the animation in a MP4 file. The file addresses are fetched by the bulletin board and it enables web designers embed the translated sign language file into their web pages by using HTML5 or Javascript. Also we analyzed text used by web pages of public services, then figured out new words to the translating system, and added to improve translation. This addition is expected to encourage wide and easy acceptance of web pages for hearing-impaired people to public services.

  • This paper presents the concepts of ubiquitous computing technology to construct a ubiquitous learning environment that enables learning to take place anywhere at any time. This ubiquitous learning environment is described as an environment that supports students' learning using digital media in geographically distributed environments. The u-learning model is a web-based e-learning system that could enable learners to acquire knowledge and skills through interaction between them and the ubiquitous learning environment. Students are allowed to be in an environment of their interest. The communication between devices and the embedded computers in the environment allows learner to learn while they are moving, hence, attaching them to their learning environment.

  • It is difficult to figure out the specific contents of the buildings in the internet spatial area, since those data on the internet present only the location of buildings and the outlines of lands on which buildings are located, An experimental study for the view management of building information at internet urban spatial area was conducted on the Web-GIS based map using hyper map. With the building information on the 2-D map, modified from the previous numerical map and the regional building information and additional information, a new form of building through 3-D icons was shown on the internet spatial area. This study shows the Web-based building management system, which is designed to manage attribute data about hyper-linked buildings of 2.5-D icons and to reproduce visual building information by putting a variety of information into hyper-linked icons on the hyper map. This system not only complements the lack of consistency between real buildings and those on the map, but also provides users with more familiar urban space, so that everybody can utilize the building information as long as he has access to the internet.

Development of the Theoretical Model on Electronic-Store Success (전자상점 성과에 관한 이론적 모형 구축)

  • This study developed the ISM (Electronic Store Success Model) by basing upon the revised D&M IS Success Model and reflecting the characteristics of marketing and e business. The theoretical rationale of this model was as following : 1) Though the revised D&M IS Success Model (2002) must be more logical and complete model than the original D&M IS Success Model (1992), it did not reflect characteristics of marketing and e business. 2) In the marketing studios, Service Quality has been suggested as one of basic strategies for success. 3) In e business studies, Trust has been emerging as a potentially important antecedent of e loyalty. 4) There has been a paradigm shift from satisfaction to loyalty in marketing emphasis. 5) Nowadays, ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) has been pervaded in many organizations and has supported PCA (Profit Center Accounting) or Channel based Accounting, so it has not been difficult to evaluate financial performance of Electronic Store. The ESM that has six dimensions (System Quality, information Quality. Service Quality, Trust, Loyalty, Financial Performance) and expresses the causal relationship among them was proposed and was compared with BSC (Balanced Scorecard), WebQual, and EWAM (Extended Web Assessment Method). The results showed that the ESM coincides with BSC and contains dimensions of WebQual, and EWAM.

Utility Analysis on Activating Web-Based Course Support System by Faculty in Universities (웹기반 강의지원시스템에 대한 대학교수의 활용도분석)

  • To purpose of the study was to analyze faculty utility of Web-Based course support system in Universities. Data were collected from log file in server computer, 5,023 faculties and 12,733 courses offered at spring semester of 2009 in the Metropolitan area S, K, D universities were analyzed. Specifically, frequency and percentile of faculties and courses using course management system were analyzed. In addition, the frequencies and percentiles of courses using sub-functions of course management system were analyzed and X2 test used to examine the difference of frequencies of faculties and courses using course system at using announcement, providing instructional material, public bulletin board and free board. Results were as follows. The 62.28% of faculties and 50.3% of courses have used Web-Based course support system. The results of Subfunction utility analysis showed the highest use as 80.4%. in providing instructional material. However, the use of announcement functions and online discussion was more or less low. Results imply that most of faculties and course are using course management system as supplementary system of off-line instruction.

  • U-City has been promoted nation-wide by development of recent IT technology. This paper studied the concept of 3D-virtual city in order to realize the current Ubiquitous City(U-City) efficiently, and to manage all the RFID/USN monitoring data in the real U-City. 3D-Virtual City is the concept of the reproduction of real world U-City, for embodying Ubiquitous technology while using Digital map, satellite image, VRML(Virtual Reality Modeling Language). U&V-City is the four-dimensional future city that real-time wire/wireless communication network and 3D-web GIS shall be connected that massive database, intelligent service be perceived through employing EAI(External Authoring Interface) that provides HTML&JAVA, and interface for efficient removal/process of massive information/ service and also by employing GPS/LBS/Navigation in support of world-wide orientation concept, and RTLS(Real Time Location System).

A Study on the Creating Metaverse Service Platform for Web-based Vehicle Dynamics Simulation (웹 기반 차량동역학 시뮬레이션을 위한 메타버스 서비스 플랫폼 구축에 관한 연구)

  • Recently the car tuning has become a trailblazing and creative culture that expresses the personality of the owner. In this paper, the "Car-Vatar", which is the compound word formed from the words "Car" and "Avatar", has been developed to investigate car tuning on the metaverse engineering platform. The Car-Vatar has been developed as a web-based vehicle dynamic simulation service for providing information about car tuning. That has been focused on investigating diverse vehicular performances, such as acceleration, braking, handling and fuel efficiency, according to the tuning vehicles and tuning parts on the virtual engineering platform. The Car-Vatar platform has provided two major services; one is real-time 3D tuning information system for the dress-up and performance-up tuning parts, the other is diverse vehicle dynamics system for the performance-up tuning parts. To check the validation of the Car-Vatar platform, the comparison between virtual simulation results and driving test results has been discussed on various driving environments.

An Efficient Web Search Method Based on a Style-based Keyword Extraction and a Keyword Mining Profile (스타일 기반 키워드 추출 및 키워드 마이닝 프로파일 기반 웹 검색 방법)

  • With the popularization of a World Wide Web (WWW), the quantity of web information has been increased. Therefore, an efficient searching system is needed to offer the exact result of diverse Information to user. Due to this reason, it is important to extract and analysis of user requirements in the distributed information environment. The conventional searching method used the only keyword for the web searching. However, the searching method proposed in this paper adds the context information of keyword for the effective searching. In addition, this searching method extracts keywords by the new keyword extraction method proposed in this paper and it executes the web searching based on a keyword mining profile generated by the extracted keywords. Unlike the conventional searching method which searched for information by a representative word, this searching method proposed in this paper is much more efficient and exact. This is because this searching method proposed in this paper is searched by the example based query included content information as well as a representative word. Moreover, this searching method makes a domain keyword list in order to perform search quietly. The domain keyword is a representative word of a special domain. The performance of the proposed algorithm is analyzed by a series of experiments to identify its various characteristic.
