Web services development methodology for the study (Mash-up을 활용한 웹 서비스 개발방법론에 대한 연구)

  • Mashups are new type of interactive web applications, combining content from multiple services or sources at run time. The www is currently experiencing a revolutionary growth due to its increasing participative community software applications. One of the interesting aspects of the Web 2.0 evolution is the wide-availability of various Web applications as APIs or Web services. These APIs expose informational services on the Web and take many forms of remote invocation of functions using standard Web protocols and XML for data representations. The paper describes mashups from a number of angles, highlighting current developments while providing sufficient illustrations to indicate its potential implications.

Empirical Data Analysis of a Social Network Name-Directory Service with Advertisements (광고를 동반한 소셜 네트워크 이름-디렉터리 서비스의 실험적 데이터 분석)

  • With the evolution of Internet technologies and the increasing variety of Internet devices, advertisements in various web services have also expanded. Interactive web services often go hand in hand with effective advertisements for a business model. We estimated statistical parameters of the interactive web server for service monitoring and advertisement-effect. In the web pages, we integrated the plugins of social networking services (SNSs) (e.g. Facebook, Twitter) and an advertisement scheme (e.g. Google AdSense) that regards social name-directory contents. Empirical data analysis and statistical results are presented with the implementation of estimations of parameters (e.g. utilization-level and serviceability) and advertisements in a social networking name-directory service (http://ktrip.net or http://한국.net). We found that estimated parameters were applicable to service monitoring of web-server as well as to synthesis of advertisement-effect in our social-web name-directory service.

  • We present a new, year 2011 version of the Yonsei Evolutionary Population Synthesis (YEPS 2011) model for simple stellar populations. The standard YEPS employs the most up-to-date Yonsei-Yale stellar evolutionary tracks and the BaSeL flux libraries. The spectro-photometric model data of the entire parameter space are available at http://web.yonsei.ac.kr/cosmic/data/YESP.htm.

  • With the rapid growth of WWW, the existing systems are integrated into web and various web-based systems are developed. Unlike the general applications, web aplications are developed by combining the various technologies and have their own complexities. So, we have much difficulties in the development and maintenance of web applications. To accommodate to the rapidly changing business environments and user requirements, the continuos evolution is required. In this paper, we present a method for supporting the effective development and maintenance of web applications. Our method involves the extraction of web application's structure information and analyzes web log ales containing the useful information about web site. We also describe a web testing method using the attracted information and our system developed for extracting hyperlink information and analyzing web log.

  • The Semantic Web technology, purporting to share, to reuse and to process by machines data stored in the Web environment, incessantly evolves to help human decision making; in particular, decision making based on data, or quantitative decision making. This trend drives researchers to fill the gap with strenuous efforts between the current state of the technology and the terminus of this evolution. The Semantic Web Constraint Language (SWCL) together with SWRL is one of these endeavors to achieve the goal. This paper focuses particularly on how to express the piecewise linear form in the context of SWCL. The importance of this ingredient can be fortified by the fact that any nonlinear expression can be approximated in the piecewise linear form. This paper will also provide the information of how it will work in the decision making process through an example of the Internet shopping mall problem.

  • According to the evolution of the Internet and wireless mobile communication technology, techniques for mobile databases and wireless web services are issued for them. Recently, these changes of geographic application environment increase the needs for development of new GIS database system for the web services and embedded system. In this paper, we proposed a Jana-based web database systems that can be used in the web-based GIS and mobile databases. This proposed system has been implemented using the Java to be displayed easily into the portable computing devices and Java-based web application servers and using OpenGIS for web data interoperability. Also, it can efficiently process web-based spatial queries by developing a spatial query processor including schema manager and a spatial object storage module.

Estimation of Web Page Change Behavior (웹 문서 변경 예측)

  • This paper presents the estimation methods computing the probabilities of how many times web pages are downloaded and modified, respectively, in the future crawls. The methods can make web database administrators avoid unnecessarily requesting undownloadable and unmodified web pages in a page group. We postulated that the change behavior of web pages is strongly related to the past change behavior. We gather the change histories of approximately three million web pages at two-day intervals for 100 days, and estimated the future change behavior of those pages. Our estimation, which was evaluated by actual change behavior of the pages, worked well.

Strain interaction of steel stirrup and EB-FRP web strip in shear-strengthened semi-deep concrete beams

  • Conventional reinforced concrete design codes assume ideal strain evolution in semi-deep beams with externally bonded fiber-reinforced polymer (EB-FRP) web strips. However, there is a strain interaction between internal stirrups and web strips, leading to a notable difference between code-based and experimental shear strengths. Current study provides an experiment-verified detailed numerical framework to assess the potential strain interaction under quasi-static monotonic load. Based on the observations, steel stirrups are effective only for low EB-FRP amounts and the over-strengthening of semi-deep beams prevents the stirrups from yielding, reducing its shear strength contribution. A notable difference is detected between the code-based and the study-based EB-FRP strain values, which is a function of the normalized FRP stress parameter. Semi-analytical relations are proposed to estimate the effective strain and stress of the components considering the potential strain interaction. For the sake of simplification, a linearized correction factor is proposed for the EB-FRP web strip strain, assuming its restraining effect as constant for all steel stirrup amounts.
