팔당댐 담수수역 식물플랑크톤의 수직분포 (Vertical Distribution of Phytoplankton in the Paldang Dam Reservior)

  • Phytoplankton community was investigated at the Paldang Dam Reservoir in the Mid-Han River by it's depth, in spring and summer known as the period of phytoplankton's blooming. It was only in summer that phytoplankton bloomed at the investigated area. 128 kinds of phytoplankton were identified and of them, diatoms were abundunt in spring but cyanophyta and chlorophyta were in summer. Because some species with high pollution index were observed in summer, it could be proved that the investigated area was polluted especially in summer. In spring shown the circulation period by vertical distribution pattern of chlorophyll-a and isothermal distribution pattern of water temperature, maximum value of phytoplankton standing crops appeared at the upper layer, except for surface layer. In summer shown the circulation period after the stagnation period by vertical distribution pattern of chlorophyll-a and immediate destruction after stratification of water temperature, maximum value of phytoplankton standing crops appeared at the lower layer. the layer at which the maximum value of chlorophyll-a appeared also accorded with that of phytoplankton standing crops. So, it could be approved that there existed a close relationship among phytoplankton standing crops, chlorophyll-a, and water temperature.

농업용 저수지에서 환경 요인이 Microcystis aeruginosa (cyanobacteria) 성장에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Environmental Factors on the Growth of Microcystis aeruginosa (Cyanobacteria) in Agricultural Reservoirs)

  • 본 연구는 경북 안동시 풍천면에 소재한 농업용 저수지인 호민지와 가곡지에서 수계의 물리 화학적 환경요인이 수화현상에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 수온, chlorophyll-a, 총질소, 총인, 인산염인의 평균값은 가곡지가 높았다. 반면에 pH의 평균값은 호민지가 높았다. 미량원소 (Na, K, Mg, Fe, Si)의 평균값은 모두 가곡지에서 높았다. 두 저수지에서 수화현상을 일으킨 남조류는 Microcystis aeruginosa였고, 5월부터 발생하기 시작하여 8월에 최대의 현존량을 나타냈다. M. aeruginosa의 현존량 증가와 수질과의 상관관계에서 호민지에서 $Na^+$ (r=-0.910, p<0.05), $Fe^{2+}$ (r=-0.855, p<0.05)와 $Si^{4+}$ (r=0.989, p<0.01)가 현존량 증가와 높은 상관관계를 보였고 가곡지에서는 $Na^+$ (r=-0.776, p<0.05), $Si^{4+}$ (r=0.899, p<0.05)가 현존량 증가와 높은 상관관계를 보였다. 규조류의 제한요인인 Si가 남조류 현존량과 상관관계가 높은 것은 매우 특이하다. 결론적으로 수화현상 발생에는 가장 중요한 영양염인 질소와 인뿐만 아니라 여러 요인들의 복합적 작용으로 발생하는 것으로 생각된다.

대청호 유역 비점오염원 제어를 위한 생태습지의 오염물질 제거효율 평가 (Evaluation of Removal Efficiency of Pollutants in Constructed Wetlands for Controlling Nonpoint Sources in the Daechung Reservoir Watershed)

  • 대청호는 유역에 있는 비점오염원으로부터 유입되는 오염물질로 인해 남조류 과다증식에 기인한 녹조가 빈번하게 발생하고 있다. 이에 녹조 관리 대책 중 하나로 인공습지를 설치하여 호소에 유입되는 오염물질을 저감하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 비점오염원의 관리방법으로 인공습지의 적용 가능성을 평가하기 위해 대청호 상류에 설치된 서화천 생태습지를 대상으로 2014년부터 2020년까지 유입수 및 유출수의 BOD, COD, SS, T-N, T-P 등 오염물질 농도를 분석하였다. 분석 결과 대체적으로 인공습지에서의 처리를 통해 오염물질의 농도가 감소하는 것이 확인되었으며, 특히, 유기물질보다 질소, 인과 같은 영양염류에 있어 높은 처리효율이 확인되었다. 유입수의 오염물질 농도에 따른 처리효율을 구간을 나누어 분석한 결과 대체적으로 고농도에서 처리효율이 높은 경향을 나타내었다. 설치 및 운영 경과에 따른 연도별 인공습지 처리효율을 분석한 결과, T-P에서 큰 변화가 확인되었다. 이는 인공습지 조성 초기에는 식생의 성장에 따라 높은 처리효율을 보였지만, 식생이 안정화되고 습지 퇴적층이 포화됨에 따라 처리효율이 점진적으로 감소한 결과로 판단된다. 본 연구의 결과는 초기 강우 등 높은 농도의 오염물질 유입 및 주기적인 퇴적토 준설 등의 관리가 이루어진다면 인공습지가 유역면적이 넓고, 비점오염원의 영향을 크게 받는 댐 저수지의 부영양화 억제에 유용한 수단이 될 수 있음을 보여준다.

  • 작은 부영양 저수지에서 수화를 형성하는 Mallomonas elongata의 계절적 변동(2004년 10월-2005년 9월)과 온도와 pH에 대한 증식 특성을 실험실 배양을 통해 조사하였다. 수온 12-$18^{\circ}C$, pH8.4-9.5의 범위를 나타낸 3월 말에서 4월 초의 짧은 기간 동안 M. elongata의 심한 bloom (최고 17,600 cells $mL^{-1}$이 발생하였다. 이 저수지로부터 분리한 M. elongata의 batch culture를 통한 다양한 온도에 대한 성장 반응은 bloom을 형성 하였을 때의 저수지 수온과 유사한 $15^{\circ}C$ 에서 최대성장률을 나타내었다. 반면 pH에 대한 증식 특성은 bloom 형성기의 저수지 pH 범위 보다 낮은 pH 6에서 최대 성장률을 나타내었다.

Effect of Calcium Peroxide on the Growth and Proliferation of Microcystis aerusinosa, a Water-blooming Cyanobacterium

  • The potential of calcium peroxide to act as an agent for waterblooming control was In-vestigated by examining the growth inhibition of Microcystis aerusinosa. Due to the chemical nature of calcium peroxide, it can remove dissolved phosphate by forming an Insoluble precipitate, generating radicals, coagulant, and oxygen as byproducts as it dissolves in water. The growth of M. aerusinosa was severely inhibited and the chlorophyll-n concentration was drastically decreased in the presence of calcium peroxide. With 200 ppm of calcium peroxide dosage, a chlorophyll-a concentration of 1,700 mg/m$^3$ was lowered to below 10% of its initial concentration after 4 days. One possible explanation for this growth Inhibition is the removal of the available phosphate by calcium peroxide.

A perspective of chemical treatment for cyanobacteria control toward sustainable freshwater development

  • One of the most threatening consequences of eutrophic freshwater reservoirs is algal blooming which typically occur after the long a mega drought or/and irregular rainfall under influence of climate change. The long-term experiences of chemical treatment are known as a most practical effort to reduce health concerns from human exposure of harmful cyanobacteria as well as to preserve ultimate freshwater resources. Even though these conventional chemical treatment methods do not completely solve the algal residue problem in water treatment plant or directly in the water bodies, they still have big advantages as fast and efficient removal process of cyanobacteria due to cheaper, easier to manage. This review summarizes their chemical treatment scenarios of the representative coagulants, pre-oxidants and algaecides composed to chemical compounds which immediately may help to manage severe cyanobacteria blooms in the summer seasons.

낙동강 하류원수에 적합한 여과지의 여재구성 (The adaptive filter configuration for down stream of Naktong river)

  • This study was carried out to evaluate the variations of headloss rate and of specific deposit to depths with effective size of media and configuration of filter layer during algae blooming period. 0.51mm size media was disqualified because most of headloss occurred rapidly below 5cm from surface layer however 0.91mm size media acted deep filtration more than 20cm from top, as result 0.91mm sixte media filter had 2∼3 times longer filtration time than 0.51mm sixte media filter, but 0.91mm size media have break-through potentiality. multi-layer filter with 1.02mm anthracite and 0.51mm sand had large deposit volume in upper layer that could longer filtration time, moreover smaller media in lower layer that could protect break-through.

Role of Silica in Phytoplankton Succession : An Enclosure Experiment in the Downstream Nakdong River (Mulgum)

  • To understand the mechanism of phytoplankton succession in the Nakdong River, the resource availability (silica) and grazing effect on the phytoplankton community were investigated in an enclosure experiment at Mulgum in March 1995. In all enclosures, Stephanodiscus hantzchii was dominant during the first week. Two weeks later, the diatom community in the A (river water only) and B (filtered river water) enclosures was shifted to colonial green algae (Actinastrum sp., Pediastrum spp. and Scenedesmus spp.) and nanoplankton (2~3 ${\mu}$m of diameter) due to the silica depletion. In the C (silica addition in river water, 3 mg 1$^{-1}$ week$^{-1}$) and D (silica addition in filtered water) enclosures, Fragilaria crotonensis and Synedra acus increased as the silica addition was continued. The percentage of small phytoplankton (size, 10~13 ${\mu}$m) in the filtered enclosures (B and D) was much higher than that of A and C enclosures. A laboratory bottle experiment conducted in the fall of 1994 also showed similar results. Therefore, it is concluded that silica and zooplankton are important regulators in phytoplankton succession during the diatom blooming season in the Nakdong River.

인천항 선거내에서 교란된 부착 해조군집의 재형성 (Recolonization of the Disturbed Benthic Algal Community in Inchon Dock)

  • 본 연구기간 중 인천항 선거내에서 생육하는 해조군집을 1990년 1월부터 12월 사이에 종조성, 우점종 그리고 수직분포를 정성, 정량적인 방법으로 조사하였다. 조사기간 중 6월에 blooming에 의한 큰 교란을 받아 기존하던 해조군집이 완전히 파괴되는 사건이 발생하여 새로운 저층에 대한 군집의 착생과정을 밝힐 수 있는 좋은 계기를 얻게 되었다. 본 조사에서 채집 동정된 해조류는 남조류 18종, 녹조류 13종, 갈조류 6종 그리고 홍조류 8종으로 총 45종이었다. 단위면적당 평균현존량은 교란 전에는 $53.50-188.00\;g-dry\;wt/m^2$ 이였고, 교란 후에도 $0.57-2.62\;g-dry\;wt/m^2$ 이였다. 우점종은 교란전에는 Polysiphonia morrowii와 Ceramium fastigiramosum의 2종이었고, 교란 후 초기 착생종으로 Lyngbya semiplena, Lyngbya lutea 및 Lyngbya rivulariarum 3종으로 대표됨이 밝혀졌다.

장자못의 생태학적 연구 제II보 춘계 장자못의 기초생산 (Ecological Studies of the Lake Changjamot II. Primary Production in Lake Changjamot During Spring Season)

  • A study was made on the primary production of Lake Changjamot during the spring season of 1973 by menas of the oxygen method. The stratification of temperature and dissolved oxygen were formed in May with the stratified structure of phytoplankton. The range of Secchi disc transparency was from 0.8m to 2.3m during the nine months of this investigation, which was begun in January, 1973. The value was lowest in early June when the phytoplankton blooming reached the peak. The concentration of PO4-P, NH3-N, NO3-N and NO3-N was reduced at the beginning of the phytoplankton blooming and increased again after May except PO4-P. It might have been caused by the inflow of the nitogenous fertilizer from the surrounding agricultural area since May when farming was started. The total amount of chlorophyll-a in the entire water column varied from 25mg/$m^2$ to 277mg/$m^2$ from January till September with the maximum value occurring in early June. These values show a considerable eutrophication of the in comparison with the data obtained in 1969. The daily gross production in the lake varied from a low of 655mgC/$m^2$ to a high of 2,859 mgC/$m^2$ during the spring season and this corresponds to the variation of the amount of chlorophyll. The total amount of daily respiration varied from 650mg C/$m^2$ in winter to 2,307 mg C/$m^2$ in late spring and exceeds gross primary production especially in late May showing the negative balance of daily production and consumption of organic material at that time. In conclusion, Lake Changjamot is a fairly productive and a moderately autotrophic lake and has been eutrophicated much during the past four years.
