Impact force to a body during walking depends on walking speed, walking steps, the condition of the floors and shoes, and weight. The ground reaction force and the foot pressure can be measured instantaneous force easily, but it's difficult to find out the amount of transferring forces to the body. On the other hand, the acceleration has an advantage for analyzing the amount of transferring forces. However, most of studies about impact forces to the ground reaction during exercise have been limited to analyze instantaneous forces. The important thing is to evaluate characters and the amount of the impact force rather than the magnitude. Therefore, this study analyze the impact force using 3 axis acceleration in three dimensions (x; anterior-posterior, y; left-right and z; longitudinal axis) using three axis acceleration. As working speed increased, impact forces increased significantly. Impact forces on x axis and z axis are higher at lower limb than that of upper limb. However, impact force at the knee is higher than that of other parts on y axis regardless of walking speed significantly. In addition, relations of the impact forces as interaction of experiment factors as well as effect of each factor are analyzed.

Under the current law or system, the range of traffic accident on the crosswalk does not reflect the characteristics of traffic accident and the pedestrian's walking pattern. Thus, this study conducted a video recording survey on the 250 spots which are high to traffic accident rate of pedestrian-vehicle to reset the range of traffic accident on or near the crosswalk considering the characteristics of traffic accident and the pedestrian's walking pattern. Based on the collected data through a video recording survey, this study analyzed the pattern of pedestrians and extracted the variables influenced in the pedestrian's walking pattern. After conducting the regression analysis, this study made the model of measuring the range of traffic accident on the crosswalk. Through all processes these, this study reset the range of traffic accident on the crosswalk which could minimize the disadvantages of pedestrian when they have an accident on the crosswalk and ensure the right of way of pedestrian.

This study studied the effect of visual difference on balance and walking ability in college students' life care. The study was conducted on 45 students attending H University in G City, divided into control groups (n=22, not wearing glasses and contact lenses) and experimental groups (n=23, wearing glasses and contact lenses). In not wearing glasses and contact lenses, the subjects measured visual acuity with logMAR charts, evaluated their balance ability with BIOrescue, and evaluated walking ability with G-Walk. The results of this study showed that the experimental group had statistically significantly lower vision than the control group in the visual acuity measurement(p<.01). Static balance ability was statistically significant increase in center of mass movement of the right foot in the experimental group compared to the control group(p<.05). Dynamic balance ability was statistically significantly reduce in limit of stability for groups of experiments compared to control group(p<.05). The walking ability was statistically significantly shorter on step length and stride length, swing of the experimental group compared to the control group in the right foot(p<.05). The findings showed that the visual difference in university students reduces balance and walking ability. Therefore, university students with poor visual acuity are recommended to correct of visual acuity to prevent collision and falls in their daily lives.
The foot performs an important function in supporting the body and keeping body balance. An abnormal walking habit breaks the balance of the human body as well as the normal function of the foot. The influence of a flatfoot(pes planus) occupies a considerable portion of the various causes resulting in the wrong walking habit. But, little studies has been done by the functional foot orthotics for the flat foot. The object of this study, therefore, is to propose a new approach method to reveal the effects of the improvement of the foot function by using orthotics. The essential point of this study is to measure and analyze the change of ankle angle in the sagittal plane for flat foot subjects wearing the orthotics. Before and after wearing the functional orthotics, the gait analysis of flat foot subjects was conducted in three experimental aspects : the change of ankle angle, the change of the total Ankle ROM and the difference of left & right ankle angle in the sagittal plane. 1. The average ankle angle differences of before-and-after wearing the orthotics have declined like this; left : $2.71^{\circ}$, right: $1.91^{\circ}$ (p<0.05). 2. Total ankle ROM also showed decrease in both sides while the left side's is rather slight; left : $0.57^{\circ}$, right : $2.07^{\circ}$ (p<0.05). 3. The difference of left and right ankle angle in the sagittal plane decreased by $0.71^{\circ}$ (p<0.05). In result, it is confirmed that the functional foot orthotics have a significant effect on mechanical movement of ankle joint for flat foot. it is expected that this paper will be further studied and improved as a practical estimation method in the research on the effect of foot-orthotics.

Skeletal muscle metastasis of gastric cancer is extremely rare and is associated with various symptoms. Here, we report on a 60-year-old woman with right hip pain after excessive walking. Two years earlier, the patient had been treated for advanced gastric cancer (surgery, adjuvant chemotherapy). Upon magnetic resonance imaging, diffuse muscle swelling and high signal intensity were observed in T2-weighted images of the right hip muscle. However, the FDG uptake in the right gluteal muscles was not obviously increased. Pathological examination of muscle biopsy revealed metastatic adenocarcinoma of stomach origin. The patient was treated with chemotherapy, and the swelling and pain in the right hip are progressively improving.

It is important to create a decent pedestrian space in order to realize a public space that can ultimately improve the quality of life based on guaranteeing people's right to move while also enhancing urban activity. The goal of this study is to develop a pedestrian path evaluation system in order to lay the foundation for data construction leading to the creation of such elegant walking space. First, a basic system was established in keeping with factors and the space, and this system was used as the basic framework of the study. The trends identified in the literature can be divided into eight categories, denoted here as: Walking safety policy, Walking focused plan, Recognition transition, Transportaion system, Activity-linked walking, Facility utilization walking, Nature and history linked walking and Content convergence walking. The macro- and micro-indices and factors mentioned in related studies were synthesized and classified, and the basis for universality and differentiation was established by integrating them. Next, according to the basic composition of the walking system, Walking potential and slope safety in the Safety category, Basic walking connectivity and Traffic linkage in the Efficiency category, Walking arrangement and Rest convenience in the Health category, and Resource connectivity and Activity abundance in the Comfortability category macro evaluation system of the eight categories were established and a corresponding measurement method was developed.

Purpose : This study was designed to identify the effects of carrying bag positions (None, left hand, right hand, left shoulder, right shoulder) on static balance. Methods : Fourteen healthy adult females participated in the this study. The exclusion criteria were orthopedic or neurologic disease, predominant left side. Measurements were performed initial effects. Results were evaluated by OSI, APSI, and MLSI in the biodex stability system. Results : There are among the three assessments (overall stability index(OSI), antero-posterior stability index (APSI), medio-lateral stability index(MLSI) significants difference for the carrying bags positions (None bag, left hand, right hand, left shoulder, right shoulder)(p<.05). The post-hoc test revealed a significant difference between none bag and both left hand and left shoulder in the OSI, APSI, MLSI (p<.05). Also, comparing the carrying positions significant difference between right hand and both left hand and left shoulder in the MLSI (p<.05). Conclusion : The results suggest that none dominant side with carrying bag improve more imbalance than none bag and right hand of dominant with carrying bag improve more balance than non dominant side. When comparing the four carrying bag conditions, right hand was more effective than another conditions in static balance.

Hexapod walking robots are superior to biped or quadruped ones in terms of walking stability. Therefore hexapod robots have the advantage in performing intelligent tasks based on walking stability. In this paper, we propose a hexapod robot that has one fore leg, one hind leg, two left legs, and two right legs and can perform various intelligent tasks. We build the robot by using 26 motors and implement a controller which consists of a host PC, a DSP main controller, an AVR auxiliary controller, and smart phone/pad. We show by several experiments that the implemented robot can perform various intelligent tasks such as uneven surface walking, tracking and kicking a ball, remote control and 3D monitoring by using data obtained from stereo camera, infrared sensors, ultra sound sensors, and contact sensors.
The purpose of this study was to determine if an 8-week therapeutic riding (TR) program was effective in improving the walking ability of students with intellectual disabilities. Thirteen students diagnosed with intellectual disabilities participated in the TR program. TR sessions were conducted twice a week (30 min per session), with a total of 16 rides taking place over an 8-week period. A gait measurement analyzer was used to measure progress based on a turn test (6-m walking and turning test), walk test (10-m walking), and timed up and go (TUG) test. Measurements were made three times: before horse-riding (P0), after 4 weeks (8 rides) of horse-riding (P1), and after 8 weeks (16 rides) of horse-riding (P2). Data analysis was conducted using SPSS software (ver. 22.0). Descriptive statistics were generated on the general characteristics of the subjects, and the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was used to verify the normality of the data. Because of the lack of normality, the data were analyzed using a nonparametric method and the significance level was set to 0.05. Measurements of the duration of the forward gait cycle (s) in the turn test and the forward gait speed (m/s) in the walk test indicated improved walking ability after the TR program (p < 0.001); the stride length (% height) also increased significantly (p < 0.05). The walk test revealed a significant effect of the program on the duration of the forward gait cycle (p < 0.05), while there were significant improvements on the left and right of the elaborated strides (p < 0.001). No significant improvement in TUG test performance was observed after the TR program. In this study, an 8-week TR program had positive results on gait. Therefore, further research is merited, where TR programs are likely to improve the walking ability of individuals with intellectual disabilities.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the difference in reaction patterns during the support phase after perturbation in gait according to different age. A total of 12 subjects participated; 5 elderly and 7 adults(control), to investigate the differences between normal and perturbed gait. The step length didn't change during normal and perturbed gait but was longer in the control group. There was no difference in the step width. When the right foot was perturbed, the control group's left foot speed was faster than the elderly group's which was to maintain stability. The elderly flexed both right and left knees more than the control group. After the perturbation, the elderly group had a larger trunk anterior flexion. With the larger flexion of both legs of the elderly group it shows that the lack of knee flexion strength is a factor, that could cause falling and so a prevention program should focus on strengthening the quadriceps. With the excessive trunk flexion after the perturbation by the elderly group observed, it is suggested that while walking everyday a good routine of walking with an upright posture should be developed.
