승압형 DC-DC 컨버터의 설계 및 병렬운전에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Design of Step Up DC-DC Converter and Parallel Operation)

  • This paper is to study on the step-up DC-DC converter for power system which yields output characteristics of low voltage and high current, such as fuel cell generation system. DC-AC-DC scheme is suggested for high ratio of voltage conversion. Three phase MOSFET-SPWM inverter is adopted for intermediate AC conversion and inverter output frequency is chosen at 400[Hz] in order to reduce the size of magnetic circuit and DC filter. Since control strategy which combines voltage controller with current controller in parallel is used, good output performance is obtained both in steady state and in transient state like load variation, not only in single unit operation but also in parallel operation.

  • 제안하는 컨버터는 부스트 하프브리지-전압 더블러를 각각 병렬-직렬로 연결하여 출력전력 및 출력전압을 증대시키므로 고승압 대전력 응용에서 소자의 선정이 용이하다. 특히 고주파변압기 턴 비를 작게 할 수 있고 DC 오프셋이 제거되어 최적의 변압기 설계가 가능하며, 3개의 코아로 전력이 분배되어 Low Profile 및 열 분산에 유리하다. 제안하는 컨버터는 전 영역(0 ∼ 1)의 듀티 사용으로 스타트업 및 추가의 클램프회로가 필요 없으며 입력전압 변동이 큰 응용에 적합하다. 또한 넓은 듀티영역에서 스위치의 ZVS 턴온과 다이오드의 ZCS 턴온 턴오프가 성취되므로 고효율을 달성할 수 있다. 제안하는 컨버터를 5 kW급 시작품으로 검증하였다.

Device and Piezoelectric Characteristics of Pb(Mn1/3Sb2/3) O3-PZT Ceramics for Piezoelectric Transformer

  • In the $(Pb_{1-x}M_x)[(Mn_{1/3}Sb_{2/3})_{0.05}Zr_yTi_{0.95-y}]O_3$ system, where M=Ca and Sr, the piezoelectric properties were evaluated to examine the possibility of application to piezoelectric transformer. A Rosen-type piezoelectric transformer was formed, then the electrical properties of voltage step-up ratio, frequency characteristics etc. were analysed. The morphotropic phase boundary was determined to be y=0.475 in $Pb[(Mn_{1/3}Sb_{2/3})_{0.05}Zr_yTi_{0.95-y}]O_3$ system and the piezoelectric properties of this composition was kp=0.59, Qm=1600 and $\varepsilon_r$=1150. Moreover, when 1-2 mol% of Sr are substituted, enhanced piezoelectric properties of kp=0.61, Qm=1600 and $\varepsilon_r$=1400 were shown. The temperature rising (ΔT) of a piezoelectric transformer with $Pb[Mn_{1/3}Sb_{2/3})_{0.05}Zr_{0.475}Ti_{0.475})]O_3 $ composition was $10^{\circ}C$, and the voltage step-up ratio was 500 when the output voltage was 4000V, whereas the ΔT was below $3^{\circ}C$ and the resonant frequency variation ($\Delta f_r$) as a function of load resistance was below 5% when the output voltage was 2000 V. These characteristics are superior to the properties of materials, which were substituted by Ca or without substitution.

  • This paper describes an AC voltage regulator using AC chopper and auxiliary transformer which is series connected with main input. It has many advantages such as fast voltage control, high efficiency and low THD. A detail study of step down AC voltage regulator is described and two kinds of novel step-up/down voltage regulator for AVR are proposed. The operation principle and PWM method of the proposed regulator are described. Experimental results show that it can be used as AC voltage regulator for special purpose very efficiently.

  • Single-phase cycloconverters are widely used for ac-ac power conversion especially for speed control of ac drives. In this paper, a new single-phase to single-phase Z-source cycloconverter topology is proposed. The proposed single-phase Z-source cycloconverter can boost to a desired voltage with various frequency. Thus, it is called a frequency step-down and amplitude voltage step-up converter. The operating principle of the proposed topology is presented. Analysis and simulation for this single-phase Z-source cycloconverter are also presented.

Comparison of Conventional DC-DC Converter and a Family of Diode-Assisted DC-DC Converter in Renewable Energy Applications

  • In the conventional dc-dc converter, a pair of additional diode and the adjacent passive component capacitor/inductor can be added to the circuit with an X-shape connection, which generates a family of new topologies. The novel circuits, also called diode-assisted dc-dc converter, enhance the voltage boost/buck capability and have a great potential for high step-up/step-down power conversions. This paper mainly investigates and compares conventional dc-dc converter and diode-assisted dc-dc converter in wide range power conversion from the aspects of silicon devices, passive components requirements, electro-magnetic interference (EMI) and efficiency. Then, a comprehensive comparison example of a high step-up power conversion system was carried out. The two kinds of boost dc-dc converters operate under the same operation conditions. Mathematical analysis and experiment results verify that diode-assisted dc-dc converters are very promising for simultaneous high efficiency and high step-up/step-down power conversion in distributed power supply systems.

  • We propose a high voltage dc-dc converter for a CW (continuous wave) $CO_2$ laser system using a current resonant half-bridge inverter and a Cockcroft-Walton circuit. This high voltage power supply includes a 2-stage voltage multiplier driven by a regulated half-bridge series resonant inverter. The inverter drives a step-up transformer and the secondary transformer is applied to the voltage multiplier. It is highly efficient because of the reduced amount of switching losses by virtue of the current resonant half-bridge inverter, and also due to the small size, low parasitic capacitance in the transformer stage owing to the low number of winding turns of the step up secondary transformer combined with the Cockroft-Walton circuit. We obtained a maximum laser output power of 44 W and a maximum system efficiency of over 16%.

Extensional 진동 모드를 이용한 압전 트랜스포머의 감압 특성 (Step-Down Voltage Properties of Piezoelectric Transformer with Extensional Vibration Mode)

  • In this paper, step-down piezoelectric transformer is studied. The piezoelectric transformer, made of lead zirconate titanate solid solution ceramic, is operated by a fundamental contour-extensional vibration mode. The transformer of 14mm length, 14mm width and 4.5mm thickness was made up two shape(Type I and II). The resonant frequency (fr) is 144kHz and 128kHz at the load resistant of $7.5{\Omega}$ that is a similar to calculating matching impedance. The gain (G) obtained 0.19 and 0.08 at each resonant frequency, when applied input voltage is 25V. The temperature difference with the variation of load resistant was increased with increasing load resistant and was the lowest at $7.5{\Omega}$ near the matching of output impedance.

고승압 인터리빙 CCM-ZVZCS 컨버터 (High Step-up Interleaved CCM-ZVZCS Converters)

  • 본 논문에서는 고승압.대전력 응용에 적합한 소프트스위칭 인터리빙 부스트 컨버터를 제안한다. 제안하는 컨버터는 동일 듀티로 기존 부스트 컨버터보다 약 2배의 승압비를 얻을 수 있고 스위치와 다이오드의 전압정격은 약 1/2로 감소되어 $R_{DS(ON)}$과 전압 강하가 작은 소자 사용으로 도통손실을 감소시킬 수 있다. 또한 수동소자의 전압정격이 감소되어 전체 에너지량도 1/2로 감소된다. 더욱이 CCM에서도 스위치의 ZVS 턴온이 가능하고 다이오드의 ZCS 턴오프 동작으로 역방향 회복에 의한 서지가 거의 없어 스위칭 손실이 감소된다. 2kW의 시작품으로 제안하는 컨버터의 타당성을 검증하였다.
