고밀도 축제식 양식장의 질소역학과 대하 (Fenneropenaeus chinensis) 성장 (Nitrogen Dynamics and Growing of Shrimp (Fenneropenaeus chinensis) in the High Density Aquaculture Ponds)

  • A mathematical model is used to investigate nitrogen dynamics in the intensive aquaculture ponds in the western coast of Korea. Parameters associated with water quality, sediments and growing of shrimp (Fenneropenaeus chinensis) are measured to calibrate the model for feeding ponds A and B and storage ponds. The model describes the fate of nitrogen including loadings of ammonia from feeds, phytoplankton assimilation, nitrification, sedimentation, volatilization and discharge. The model obtains good agreements with the measured values of TAN $(NH_4,\;NH_3),\;NO(NO_2,\;NO_3)$ and Chl (chlorophyll a). Impacts of water exchange on TAN and Chl are investigated, showing that the range of 0.01-0.2 (/day) cannot effectively reduce TAN but reduces Chl. Nitrogen in the ponds A is removed by sedimentation $66\%,$ volatilization $8\%,$ discharge of particulate and dissolved $8\%.$ The pond B shows $56\%\;and\;26\%$ of sedimentation and volatilization, respectively, to yield $10\%.$ decrease and 8c/o increase compared to those in the pond A. While the pond A has larger area (1.02:0.66 ha) and same stocking density (0.025 md./L) at the beginning of culture, the pond B obtains higher stocking density (0.0065:0.0091 md./L), longer feeding period (103:121 day) and resultant higher shrimp production (1.15:2.13 t/ha/cycle) at harvest. This is possibly due to the hydraulic characteristics driven by paddlewheels. At low ratio of the low speed area and the pond area, the rate of sedimentation is high, while the rate of gas exchange is low. Thus, the measurement and model analysis suggest that water quality and shrimp production are positively correlated with the hydraulic characteristics in the shrimp ponds.

디젤오염토양의 Bench Scale 처리에 있어서 벤팅모드 비교 (Comparison of Venting Modes for Bench Scale Treatment of Diesel Contaminated Soil)

  • Bioventing efficiency was compared in a continuous and an intermittent(6hr injection and 6hr rest) air injection mode. Two lab-scale columns which packed with 5 kg of soil artificially contaminated by diesel oil were operated. The columns were maintained at the $25^{\circ}C{\pm}2.5$ in order to minimize the effect of exterior temperature variation. The flow rate of air injection mode were maintained constantly at the flow rate of 10 ml/min. The moisture of the columns was stably maintained at $60{\sim}80%$ of field capacity. The nutrient compounds were added to make C:N:P ratio as 100:10:l. The continuous and intermittent injection modes showed 67.56% and 69.63% reduction of initial TPH concentration during 90 days, respectively. Two venting modes showed similar results in the analysis of the trends of the hydrocarbon utilizing bacterial counts for operating periods. The carbon dioxide production rate of the continuous injection mode was higher than that of intermittent injection mode. The loss of diesel oil by volatilization in the continuous and intermittent injection modes were about 5% and 1%, respectively. The lower volatilization loss in the intermittent injection mode suggested that the biodegradation of TPH in the intermittent injection mode was greater than that of the continuous mode. These results suggested that the intermittent injection mode is more efficient than the continuous venting mode.

전기로 제강분진에 함유된 금속원소의 휘발거동에 대한 속도론적 연구 (A Study on Kinetic of Volatilization Behavior of Metal Elements Contained in Electric Arc Furnace Dust)

  • 전기로 제강분진은 고철을 전기로에서 용해하는 과정에서 발생하는 휘발성분들이 공기 중의 산소와 반응하여 산화물형태로 포집된 미세분말로써 다양한 특성을 가지고 있다. 이러한 전기로 제강분진의 효율적인 자원화를 위해서 반응속도론적 기초실험과 Pilot 규모의 생산실험을 병행하여 실시하였다. 그 결과 전기로 제강분진은 다양한 구성성분과 화합물로 구성되어 있었으며 공통적으로 Cl과 알카리 성분이 다량으로 존재함에 따라 자원화를 위한 실제 조업에 큰 악영향을 미치는 화합물의 형성이 예상된다. 휘발거동은 $1100^{\circ}C$ 영역에서 활발히 진행되고 $1250^{\circ}C$ 영역에서는 용융현상이 나타남을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 결과는 Pilot규모의 실증테스트의 결과로 얻은 조산화아연과 환원철의 형성거동에서도 동일한 결과를 얻었다. 이러한 결과는 전기로 제강분진의 자원화 플랜트의 설계 및 조업조건 설정에 유용한 기초자료로 활용이 기대된다.

The Characteristics of Organic Degradation and Ammonia Volatilization in the Liquid Composting of Pig Slurry

  • This study was carried out for 30 days in aeration type and agitation type reactor to characterize organic matter decomposition and ammonia volatilization during the liquid composting of pig slurry, and organic matter and nitrogen removal rate through mass balance analysis was analyzed. In the aeration type reactor, the pH increased from 7.0 to 9.13, and TS 34.5%, VS 33.4%, $BOD_5$ 71.2%, $COD_{Cr}$ 62.3% and TOC 83.2% were removed. In addition, 44.6% of TN and 65.0% of ${NH_4}^+-N$ were removed. In the agitation type reactor, the pH increased from 7.0 to 8.10, and the removal rates of TS 0.9%, VS 0.5%, $COD_{Cr}$ 27.5%, $BOD_5$ 28.9% and TOC 41.3% were obtained. And TN and ${NH_4}^+-N$ showed removal rate of 25.3% and 29.2%, respectively. The first order kinetics constant related to $BOD_5$ degradation was $-0.039day^{-1}$ for aerobic liquid composting and $-0.013day^{-1}$ for agitated reactor. Nitrogen loss in aerobic liquid composting was about 2.3 times higher than that of agitated reactor, whereas FAN/TAN in aerobic liquid composting was about 7.9 times higher than that of agitation type reactor. Therefore, despite the low FAN/TAN in the agitation type reactor, the nitrogen loss rate was relatively high.

Effects of Urease Inhibitor, Nitrification Inhibitor, and Slow-release Fertilizer on Nitrogen Fertilizer Loss in Direct-Seeding Rice

  • To study the effects of an urease inhibitor, N-(n-butyl)-thiophosphoric triamide (NBPT), and a nitrification inhibitor, dicyandiamide (DCD), on nitrogen losses and nitrogen use efficiency, urea fertilizer with or without inhibitors and slowrelease fertilizer (synthetic thermoplastic resins coated urea) were applied to direct-seeded flooded rice fields in 1998. In the urea and the urea+DCD treatments, NH$_4$$^{+}$ -N concentrations reached 50 mg N L$^{-1}$ after application. Urea+NBPT and urea+ NBPT+DCD treatments maintained NH$_4$$^{+}$ -N concentrations below 10 mg N L$^{-1}$ in the floodwater, while the slow-release fertilizer application maintained the lowest concentration of NH$_4$$^{+}$ -N in floodwater. The ammonia losses of urea+NBPT and urea+NBPT+DCD treatments were lower than those of urea and urea+DCD treatments during the 30 days after fertilizer application. It was found that N loss due to ammonia volatilization was minimized in the treatments of NBPT with urea and the slow-release fertilizer. The volatile loss of urea+DCD treatment was not significantly different from that of urea surface application. It was found that NBPT delayed urea hydrolysis and then decreased losses due to ammonia volatilization. DCD, a nitrification inhibitor, had no significant effect on ammonia loss under flooded conditions. The slow-release fertilizer application reduced ammonia volatilization loss most effectively. As N0$_3$$^{[-10]}$ -N concentrations in the soil water indicated that leaching losses of N were negligible, DCD was not effective in inhibiting nitrification in the flooded soil. The amount of N in plants was especially low in the slow-release fertilizer treatment during the early growth stage for 15 days after fertilization. The amount of N in the rice plants, however, was higher in the slow-release fertilizer treatment than in other treatments at harvest. Grain yields in the treatments of slow-release fertilizer, urea+NBPT+ DCD and urea+NBPT were significantly higher than those in the treatments of urea and urea+DCD. NBPT treatment with urea and the slow-release fertilizer application were effective in both reducing nitrogen losses and increasing grain yield by improving N use efficiency in direct-seeded flooded rice field.field.

건답(乾畓) 직파(直播) 논에서 초기(初期)의 암모니아 휘산(揮散) 경감(輕減)을 위한 인산(燐酸) 입힌 요소(尿素)의 효과(效果) (Use of Phosphate Coated Urea to Decrease Ammonia Volatilization Loss from Direct Seeded Rice Field at Early Stage)

  • 건답(乾畓) 직파(直播) 재배(栽培) 논에서 건답(乾畓) 초기(初期)에 표면(表面) 시용(施用)된 요소(尿素)의 암모니아 휘산량(揮散量)을 알아내고, 이를 억제(抑制)하기 위하여 인산(燐酸) 입힌 요소(尿素)의 사용(使用) 효과(效果)를 검토(檢討)하였다. 인산(燐酸)입힌 요소(尿素)는 요소(尿素) 94.5%, 인산(燐酸) 5%, 그리고 silica powder 0.5% 비율로 섞어 조제하였다. 토양(土壤) 수분(水分)이 다른 상태로 조절한 토양(土壤)에 요소(尿素), 인산(燐酸) 입힌 요소(尿素) 및 urease 활성 억제제인 thio urea 5%를 처리하여 실험실 내에서 요소(尿素) 가수 분해율(分解率)을 조사하였다. 건답(乾畓) 직파(直播) 포장(圃場)에서의 암모니아 휘산량(揮散量)을 측정하기 위하여 직경22.5cm 높이 40cm인 아크릴 원통을 이용하여 인산(燐酸)과 giycerol 암모니아 포집포를 설치하여 암모니아 휘산량(揮散量)을 조사하였다. 실내 실험 결과 포장용수량(圃場容水量) 상태에서 요소(尿素) 첨가 후 3일만에 요소(尿素) 잔존률이 39.6%로 떨어졌고, 1주일 후에는 대부분의 요소(尿素)가 가수(加水) 분해 되었다. Thiourea의 사용에 의하여 가수분해(加水分解) 억제 효과가 있었다. 인산(燐酸) 입힌 요소(尿素)를 첨가한 경우 3일만의 요소(尿素) 잔존률은 높았으나, 7일 후에는 요소(尿素) 첨가와 비슷해졌다. 토양수분(土壤水分) 함량이 포장용수량(圃場容水量) 이상으로 충분한 조건에서는 요소(尿素) 및 인산(燐酸) 입힌 요소(尿素) 첨가 1주일 후의 가수분해율(加水分解率)은 97~98%로 차이가 없었고 thiourea 사용 효과만 있었다. 비교적 건조한 상태인 300KPa 수분(水分) 상태에서는 습윤한 상태 보다 가수(加水) 분해율(分解率)이 낮았으며, 인산(燐酸) 입힌 요소(尿素)와 thiourea 첨가 요소(尿素)의 가수분해율(加水分解率)은 요소(尿素) 사용에 비해 낮았다. 건답(乾畓) 직파(直播) 논에서 포장(圃場) 시험한 결과 담수 전인 건답(乾畓)상태에서 요소(尿素) 시용구에서는 시용 질소(窒素)의 14.7%가 암모니아로 휘산(揮散)되어 손실되었으며, 인산(燐酸) 입힌 요소(尿素)와 인산(燐酸)과 magnesium phosphate를 입힌 완효성(緩效性) 비료(肥料)의 암모니아 휘산률(揮散率)은 2~4%로 매우 낮았다. 한편 축산분(畜産糞) 유기질(有機質) 비료(肥料)를 사용한 구에서의 암모니아 휘산량(揮散量) 역시 많았다.

가리(加里)의 시용(施用)이 담수토양(湛水土壤)에서 암모니아의 휘산(揮散)에 미치는 영향(影響) (Effects of Different Potassium Sources on the Ammonia Volatilization from Soils under Flooded Condition)

  • 요소(尿素)와 병용(倂用)된 염화가리나 황산가리(黃酸加里)가 담수(湛水) 치원조건하(置元條件下)에서 암모니아의 휘산(揮散)에 주는 영향(影響)을 밝히기 위(爲)하여 pH가 낮은 (4.85) 산성식질답토양(酸性埴質畓土壤)과 pH가 높은(6.70) 간척지사질식양토(干拓地砂質埴壤土)를 공시(供試)하여 질내(窒內)에서 시험(試驗)한 결과(結果)는 다음과 같다. 1. 산성토양(酸性土壤)에 사용(使用)한 가리(加里)는 pH를 높이고 암모니아의 휘산(揮散)을 증가(增加)하였다. 2. pH가 높은 간척지염류토양에서는 가리(加里)의 시용(施用)으로 pH를 낮추고 암모니아의 휘산(揮散)을 줄이는데 그 효과는 황산가리(黃酸加里)가 염화가리보다 컸다. 3. 황산가리(黃酸加里)보다 염화가리를 시용(施用)한 토양(土壤)에서 암모니아의 휘산(揮散)이 많은 것 같다. 그러나 pH가 높은 간척지토양(干拓地土壤)에서는 염화가리의 이 효과가 높은 염농도에 덮여 버리는 것 같다. 4. 요소(尿素)는 토양(土壤)의 pH를 크게 높였다. 산성(酸性) 토양(土壤)에서는 황산가리(黃酸加里)가 염화가리보다 토양(土壤)의 pH를 더 높였으나 원래(原來)의 pH가 높은 간척지토양(干拓地土壤)에서는 반대(反對)로 황산가리(黃酸加里)가 염화가리보다 pH를 낮추었다. $SO_4$의 환원(還元)에 기인(基因)하는 것으로 생각된다.

교외지역에서 대기 중 Hexachlorocyclohexane의 농도분포 및 온도 의존성 (The Concentration Distribution and Temperature Dependence of Hexachlorocyclohexane in Rural Atmosphere)

  • Concentrations of $\alpha$- and ${\gamma}$-hexachlorocyclohexane (HCH) were measured in ambient air samples at a two week intervals between July 1999 and February 2000 at Ansung, Kyonggi province. Their concentration levels averaged at 78 ($\alpha$-HCH) and 18 pg/m$^3$(${\gamma}$-HCH). Although the use of HCHs was ceased in South Korea since 1979, their residues are still present in air even after nearly 20 years. Given the composition of the two main HCH pesticide formulation (technical HCH antral lindane), the $\alpha$/${\gamma}$-HCH ratio in air is a useful indicator on the regional scale. The moderately low $\alpha$/${\gamma}$-HCH ration in this study indicates previous usage of both technical HCH and lindane. The relationship of temperature with gas-phase partial pressures was also examined using the Clausius-Clapeyron equation. Slopes generated by linear regression analysis between partial pressure (In P) and 1/T were considerably steep thor HCHs. It is thus suggested that their concentrations are controlled by re-volatilization processes from surfaces in the local surroundings of the sampling site.

미세입자(PM2.5) 측정시 발생되는 질산염(NO3-) 휘발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Volatilization of Particulate Nitrate (NO3-) During Fine Particle (PM2.5) Measurement)

  • Fine particles (d$_{p}$ < 2.5 $\mu$m) were measured using an annular denuder system (ADS) in Chongju. The data set was collected on fifty-eight different days with a 24-hr sampling period from October 27, 1995 through August 25, 1996. Particulate nitrate in the ADS was also measured on teflon and nylon filters in series behind denuders to collect HNO$_3$, HNO$_2$, SO$_2$and NH$_3$. From this study. the mean concentration of particulate nitrate of PM$_{2.5}$ in the ADS were seen with the following order: winter (5.05) >fall (4.36) >spring (3.92) > summer (1.10 $\mu\textrm{g}$/㎥). Nitrate losses, which calculated from the ratio of nylon filter nitrate to the sum of teflon and nylon filter nitrates, varied in the following manner summer (72.2%) > spring (42.6%) > fall (23.5%)> winter (0.4%). Especially, gaseous nitric acid was dominant at temperature higher than 8$^{\circ}C$ while particulate nitrate was major species in total nitrate below that temperature. This indicates the particulate nitrate loss is strongly correlated rather with ambient temperature.e.e.

Isolation and Characterization of Pseudomonas sp. KM10, a Cadmium- and Mercury-resistant, and Phenol-degrading Bacterium

  • A bacterium which is resistant to both mercury and cadmium, and also capable of utilizing phenol as a carbon and energy source, was isolated from the Kumho River sediments near Kangchang Bridge, Taegu, Korea. The isolate was labeled Pseudomonas sp. KM10 and characterized. The bacteria grew in 4 mM $CdCl_2$and in $70{\mu}M$ $HgCl_2$. The bacteria efficiently removed over 90% of 1 g/l phenol within 30 h. In the presence of 1.250 g/l phenol, the growth of the microorganism was slightly retarded and the microorganism could not tolerate 1.5 g/l phenol. Curing of plasmid from the bacteria was carried out to generate a plasmidless strain. Subsequent experiments localized the genes for phenol degradation in plasmid and the genes for mercury resistance and cadmium resistance on the chromosome. Dot hybridization and Southern hybridization under low stringent conditions were performed to identify the DNA homology. These results showed significant homologies between the some sequence of the chromosome of Pseudomonas sp. KM10 and merR of Shigella flexneri R 100, and between the some sequence of the chromosome of Pseudomonas sp. KM10 and cadA of Staphylococcus aureus pI258. The mechanism of cadmium resistance was efflux, similar to that of S. aureus pI258 cadA, and the mechanism of mercury resistance was volatilization, similar to that of S. flexneri R100 mer.
