Synchronization of the Train PIS using the reference clock and development of a subtitle authoring tool (레퍼런스 클럭을 이용한 객차 PI 시스템 동기화 및 자막 편집기 개발)

  • This paper describes the development of a network-based passenger information system(PIS) which provides the convenience of the passenger of the train and heightens the effect of the subtitle service, the advertising and the shelter guidance broadcasting against the urgent event. The existing system uses VGA signal distributor in order to broadcast information with image and subtitle and voice guidance. In this paper we improve the existing system by applying the UDP and TCP/IP protocol and use a reference clock to solve a data loss and synchronization problem which occurs in this case. We also developed an XML-based subtitle authoring tool which can edit and play the subtitles with various 3D to improve the automatic guidance broadcasting and advertisement effect according to the operation schedule of the train. The system performance was evaluated through a simulation.

  • the existing developed route guidance services for the visually impaired aids for using RFID tags attached to the cane, the extent to which the cover blocks and RF communication was a simple walking guide service. It has a detection range of RFID readers in short, clear obstacles to location, size and shape can not be determined. And the risk of escape routes in case of questions or directions Measures are urgently needed. Today, due to the Smart Device Development convenience to users and offers many benefits. And the Android platform, Client and Server (PC) between the socket stream, using real-time video and voice information, location information by sending a dangerous situation for the visually impaired to take immediate action on the system and 1: N is to implement the service.

A Research on the Characteristics of Virtual Reality Stores -Focused on Hyundai VR Store and eBay VR Department Store- (가상현실 점포의 특성에 관한 연구 -현대백화점 VR 스토어와 eBay VR 백화점 사례를 중심으로-)

  • This study investigates the characteristics of VR stores that emerged as new fashion communication media. Two case studies on Hyundai and eBay VR Department stores were conducted along with a discussion of the function and meaning of the fashion VR store. The results showed that both stores provide novel shopping experiences; however, the two were differentiated in terms of production method and technology implementation level. Functional aspects such as providing shopping efficiency and purchasing service was insufficient in both stores. Instead, they were complementing by means of product rotation, recommendation system, voice guidance, or linkage with an online shopping mall. In experiential aspects, both stores provided a strong sense of immersion. Hyundai VR store enhanced immersion with a high resolution image of a real offline store; however, it lacked in the ability to provide multisensory stimulation such as kinetic sense or auditory stimulation. The eBay VR Department store intensified the immersion experience by providing auditory stimulation as well as visual stimulation that enhanced the speed and distance sense through the utilization of animation. However, the extent of experience was limited in terms of agency and transformation because of the low interactivity found in both store systems.

  • Due to the improvement of surveying, mapping and communication techniques, various apps for road direction guides and vehicle navigations have been developed. Although such a development has impacted on walking and driving, there is a limit to improving the daily convenience of the socially impaired people. This is mainly due to the fact that the software have been developed for normal pedestrians and drivers. Therefore, visually impaired people still have problems with the confusion of direction and/or non-provision of risk factors in walking. This study aimed to propose a scheme which constructs data for mobility-impaired or traffic-impaired people based on various geospatial information. The factors and components related to walking for the visually impaired are selected by geospatial data and a walking route guidance network that can be applied to a commercial software. As a result, it was confirmed that road direction guidance would be possible if additional contents, such as braille blocks (dotted/linear), sound signals, bus stops, and bollards are secured. In addition, an initial version of the application software was implemented based on the suggested data model and its usefulness was evaluated to a visually impaired person. To advance the stability of the service in walking for the visually impaired people, various geospatial data obtained by multiple institutes are necessary to be combined, and various sensors and voice technologies are required to be connected and utilized through ICT (Information and Communications Technologies) technology in near future.
