초등학교 과학영재 학생을 대상으로 한 데이터 시각화 학습 프로그램 개발 및 효과 - Tableau 프로그램 활용을 중심으로 - (Development and Effectiveness of Learning Programs on Visualization of Data for Gifted Students in Elementary School Science - Focusing on Using the Tableau Program -)

  • 본 연구는 데이터 시각화에 기반한 과학 학습 프로그램이 초등학교 과학영재의 과학 탐구 능력과 창의적 문제해결능력에 미치는 영향을 탐색하고자 한 것이다. 이를 위해 총 12차시의 테블로를 활용한 데이터 시각화 과학 학습 프로그램을 개발하였다. 연구 대상은 연구자가 지도하고 있는 3개의 영재학급 학생 61명으로 하였으며, 환경과 상황에 맞게 수정된 과학 탐구 능력 검사지와 창의적 문제해결력 검사지를 사전, 사후에 투입하였다. 연구 결과 데이터 시각화에 기반한 과학 학습은 과학 탐구 능력 중 기초탐구 능력에는 별다른 영향을 미치지 못하였다. 다만 하위영역 중 추리 영역에서만 유의미한 결과가 나타났다. 반면 기초 탐구 능력과 대조적으로 통합 탐구 능력에는 통계적으로 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 5개의 하위영역 중 자료변환, 자료해석, 변인통제 3개의 영역에서 유의미한 결과가 나타났다. 하지만 변인통제와 연관이 있는 가설설정의 경우 학생들이 변인통제 과정과 가설설정의 정확한 개념을 혼동한 것으로 나타났다. 한편, 프로그램 적용을 통해 창의적 문제해결력에 미치는 영향을 탐색하였는데 통계적으로 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 4개의 하위영역 모두에서 유의미한 결과가 나왔다. 테블로의 기능을 학생들이 능숙하게 익히게 된 것과 토의 토론하는 협력학습, 절차적 사고를 중시하는 데이터 시각화 프로그램의 주제적 영향이 이와 같은 결과에 기인한 것으로 해석되었다. 본 연구를 통해 데이터 시각화에 기반한 과학 학습과 앞으로의 미래교육 방향에 대하여 시사점을 얻을 수 있었다.

VISUALIZATION OF THE INTERNAL WATER DISTRIBUTION AT PEMFC USING NEUTRON IMAGING TECHNOLOGY: FEASIBILITY TEST AT HANARO

  • Neutron imaging technique was used to investigate the water distribution and movement in Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) at HANARO, KAERI. The Feasibility tests were performed in the first and second exposure rooms at the neutron radiography facility (NRF) at HANARO in order to check the ability of each exposure room, respectively. The feasibility test apparatus was composed of water and pressurized air before making up the actual test apparatus. Due to the low neutron intensity in the second exposure room, the exposure time was too long to investigate the transient phenomena of PEMFC. Although the exposure time was improved to 0.1 sec in the first exposure room, it was difficult to discriminate detail water movement at the channel due to the high noise level. Therefore, the experimental setup must be optimized according to the test conditions. Water discharge characteristics were investigated under different flow field geometries by using feasibility test apparatus and the neutron imaging technique. The water discharge characteristics of a 3-parallel serpentine are superior to those of a 1-parallel serpentine, but water at Membrane Electrode Assembly (MEA) was not removed, regardless of the flow field type.

자동차용 증발기 판 내의 증발 열전달 및 유동 특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on In-Plate Evaporation Heat Transfer and Flow Characteristics for Automobile)

  • An experimental study was performed to evaluate the in-plate evaporation heat transfer and flow characteristics of a evaporator used in automobile. Two test-cores with different heat transfer area, bead-shape and bead-array were tested, A type and B type. For the heat transfer, Nusselt number for B type test-core reaches a value nearly equal to the one for A type test-core, in the whole range of equivalent Reynolds number. But, for the same mass flow rate of refrigerant, hA for B type test-core becomes higher with the increase of the mass quality of refrigerant than for A type test-core. In a flow visualization experiment, the wake zone of refrigerant circulating at u-turn position of plate is observed.

  • As air pollution has become an important issue across the world, studies of clean fuel are on going to reduce combustion emissions. One example is development of the LPLi(Liquefied Phase LPG injection) engine. Some problems are occurred during development. One of the problems is icing phenomenon at injector tip due to evaporation potential heat when liquid LPG is injected. If the Icing is raised at injector tip or injector inserting hole, it disturbs fuel injection. And if the ice particles are inducted into cylinder, it brings problems associated with control of emission and air/fuel ratio. In order to solve the problems, a rig system was set up and observed Icing of injector tip. Engine test was carried out for visualization of injector tip icing and its effects on combustion and emissions.

회전 용적형 기어펌프의 캐비테이션 유동 해석 (Numerical Simulations of Cavitation Flow in Volumetric Gear Pump)

  • A volumetric gear pump is often used in extensive industrial applications to provide both high pressure and sufficiently high flow rate by physical displacement of finite volume of fluid with each revolution. Template mesh function in commercial CFD software, PumpLinx, by which 3-D meshes in the complex region between rotor and housing can be readily generated was employed for 3-D flow simulations. For cavitation analysis full cavitation model was included in 3-D simulations. The results showed high pulsation in pressure and flowrate which is implicated in pump vibration and noise. A model test for cavitation visualization was conducted and the results showed good qualitative agreement with numerical prediction.

LPG 엔진의 냉 시동시 시동성 개선 및 배출들 저감을 위한 연구 (A Study for the Improvement of Start Ability and Exhaust Emissions in a Conventional Mixer Type LPG Engine on Cold Start)

  • On the cold start of LPG engine, as the engine temperature has not reached its equilibrium temperature, liquid LPG could not be changed perfectly gaseous LPG, although it was passed to the vaporizer. Liquid and gas mixed fuel could influence starting ability and exhaust emission characteristics of LPG engine. In this study, the vaporization characteristic of liquid LPG was investigated with a conventional vaporizer and the vaporizer with heat source(glow plug) installed at preheated chamber inlet, by using the visualization methods and engine test. According to visualization result, even if the engine coolant temperature was $14^{\circ}C$, liquid fuel was supplied to primary chamber over 25 seconds without vaporizing from preheated chamber in such a conventional vaporizer. However, the vaporizer with heat source do not correspond with that, scarcely had been trim on glow plug when LPG began to vaporize. The effectiveness of heat source could be verified by application to the conventional LPG engine.

LDV Measurement, Flow Visualization and Numerical Analysis of Flow Distribution in a Close-Coupled Catalytic Converter

  • Results from an experimental study of flow distribution in a close-coupled catalytic converter(CCC) are presented. The experiments were carried out with a flow measurement system specially designed for this study under steady and transient flow conditions. A pitot tube was a tool for measuring flow distribution at the exit of the first monolith. The flow distribution of the CCC was also measured by LDV system and flow visualization. Results from numerical analysis are also presented. Experimental results showed that the flow uniformity index decreases as flow Reynolds number increases. In steady flow conditions, the flow through each exhaust pipe made some flow concentrations on a specific region of the CCC inlet. The transient test results showed that the flow through each exhaust pipe in the engine firing order, interacted with each other to ensure that the flow distribution was uniform. The results of numerical analysis were qualitatively accepted with experimental results. They supported and helped explain the flow in the entry region of CCC.

가솔린엔진용 포트분사식 인젝터의 분무특성에 관한 연구 (Study on the Spray Characteristics of a Port Fuel Injector for a Gasoline Engine)

  • Fuel spray characteristics of the gasoline engine injector has been studied experimentally. To provide fundamental performance data of 4-hole and 12-hole injectors, spray fuel-mass distribution, wall wetting fuel amount and visualization of injectors have been tested and measured with various fuel supply pressure conditions. Spray visualization has been performed to analyze spray formation, spray angle, stream width and penetration length. Test result shows that wall wetting is greatly influenced by the induction air amount and spray atomization. Spray visualization shows that the 12-hole injector has robust performance characteristics with various fuel supply pressure conditions compared with the 4-hole injector. 4-hole injector generates relatively less wall-wetting fuel amount than 12-hole injector does.

자동차 후류에 대한 3차원 유동의 PIV 측정 (PIV Measurements of Three-Dimensional Wake Around a Road Vehicle)

  • The PIV measurements are performed to get the quantitative flow visualization around a road vehicle. The model scaled with 1/48 is located in the middle test section of the closed-loop water tunnel and the measuring system consists of CCD camera, diode laser, synchronizer, and computer. The experimental data are obtained at two Reynolds numbers of 50,000 and 100,000 based on the model length. The quasi-three-dimensional isovorticity surfaces, based on two-dimensional velocity field data, are generated. There is little difference between the results in part of the recirculation region and the vorticity contour according to the Reynolds number. Also a little bit complicated three dimensional flows are predicted behind the road vehicle.

미세사각채널에서 $CO_{2}$의 이상유동 양식에 관한 연구 (Two-Phase Flow Patterns of $CO_{2}$ in a Heated Narrow Rectangular Channel)

  • The heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics of $CO_{2}$ are substantially different from those for CFC and HCFC refrigerants. In addition, geometric effects on two-phase flow patterns of $CO_{2}$ are also very significant in many respects. Therefore, two-phase flow patterns of $CO_{2}$ in a narrow rectangular channel or a small diameter tube whose gap size or hydraulic diameter is less than 2 mm are very important to understand heat transfer characteristics and to develop an appropriate heat transfer correlation. In the present study, the evaporation process of $CO_{2}$ in a narrow rectangular channel is visualized at various test conditions, and then the effects of operating conditions are analyzed.
