In general, based on traffic data in a ideal traffic condition, BPR cost function is used to a variety of transportation policies. However, Some researchers have reported that BRP cost function is not appropriate for analyzing traffic pattern as well as forecasting future demand.(Spiess, 1989 ; Singh, 1999) Therefore, in this paper to solve this problem, a methodology based on data through Micro traffic Simulator Based(MSB) is developed. As a result following outputs are obtained ; (1) presenting a methodology to develop a travel cost function through VISSIM in order to assess transportation policies and (2) developing BRP cost function and MSB cost function from data analysis through VISSIM and verifying availability of MSB function by comparative analysis.

As a part of realization of artificial intelligence signal(AI Signal), this study proposed an actuated signal algorithm based on vehicle queue length that estimates in real time by deep learning. In order to implement the algorithm, we built an API(COM Interface) to control the micro traffic simulator Vissim in the tensorflow that implements the deep learning model. In Vissim, when the link travel time and the traffic volume collected by signal cycle are transferred to the tensorflow, the vehicle queue length is estimated by the deep learning model. The signal time is calculated based on the vehicle queue length, and the simulation is performed by adjusting the signaling inside Vissim. The algorithm developed in this study is analyzed that the vehicle delay is reduced by about 5% compared to the current TOD mode. It is applied to only one intersection in the network and its effect is limited. Future study is proposed to expand the space such as corridor control or network control using this algorithm.

Various studies have been conducted using microtraffic simulation (VISSIM) to analyze the safety of traffic flow when introducing autonomous vehicles. However, no studies have analyzed traffic safety in mixed traffic while considering the driving behavior of general vehicles as a parameter in VISSIM. Therefore, the aim of this study was to optimize the input variables of VISSIM for non-autonomous vehicles through genetic algorithms to obtain realistic behavior. A traffic safety analysis was then performed according to the penetration rate of autonomous vehicles. In a 640 meter section of US highway I-101, the number of conflicts was analyzed when the trailing vehicle was a non-autonomous vehicle. The total number of conflicts increased until the proportion of autonomous vehicles exceeded 20%, and the number of conflicts decreased continuously after exceeding 20%. The number of conflicts between non-autonomous vehicles and autonomous vehicles increased with proportions of autonomous vehicles of up to 60%. However, there was a limitation in that the driving behavior of autonomous vehicles was based on the results of the literature and did not represent actual driving behavior. Therefore, for a more accurate analysis, future studies should reflect the actual driving behavior of autonomous vehicles.
This study deals with the small-scale roundabout. The purpose of this study is to analyze the average delay of vehicle in roundabout, and suggest the efficient planning and design standard. In pursuing the above, this study gives particular attentions to analyzing the average delay time according to the inscribed circle diameter, speed of circulatory roadway lane and traffic volume. The operational efficiencies of 96 scenarios (3 sizes of inscribed circle diameter ${\times}$ 4 types of circulatory roadway speed ${\times}$ traffic volume) are analyzed using VISSIM (Verkehr In $St{\ddot{a}}dten$-SIMulationsmodell). The main results are as follows. First, the optimal design speed of small-scale roundabout are derived from the above scenario analysis. Second, the traffic volume of LOS D is estimated to be 2,180-2,740pcph. Third, the traffic volume of LOS F that is required to improve is above 2.780pcph. The results might be expected to give some implications to providing the countermeasures for the operational efficiency of roundabout.

TPCLT(Twice Per Cycle Left-turn) operation reduces this left-turn 'spill-over' problem on an as needed basis by servicing the protected left-turn movement as a leading and a lagging left-turn. In this study, to evaluate the effectiveness of TPCLT applied to three-legged signalized intersection in Korea, the analysis was carried out using VISSIM and SSAM model analysis. The study was implemented by three cases which are TPCLT operation, non-TPCLT operation and half-cycle operation using VISSIM program. According to the 9-left-turn volume scenario, total delay and travel times of each case was analyzed by VISSIM program. The study result shows more effective applying TPCLT operaion in the present ~ +50% scenario area at the intersection in terms of total delay.

After installing roundabouts, changes of travel behaviour in the vicinity of roundabouts can cause increasing traffic volumes and unbalanced flow conditions. In that cases, the efficiency of roundabouts as a whole intersections can drop due to the insufficient gap between vehicles in the circulating lanes. The purpose of this study is developing a dynamic signal metering operation method for roundabouts in which a real time Signal Metering operation algorithm is suggested and its performance is tested by using VISSIM COM Interface(Visual Basic Application). The results of the real time Signal Metering operation show that there is a substantial delay improvements when two adjoined approaches are combined together and the flows of metering approach are less than controlling approach. Especially, the total entering flow is around 1,600 vehicle/h gives the delay reduction per vehicle of 70.9~102.2(73.8~77.8%) seconds for four-lane-approach with one-lane roundabouts.

The domestic road space is reaching the limit of planar space distribution, and Increasingly, the importance of three-dimensional space distribution through the development of underground space. therefore, In this study, a study was conducted on a traffic control method that can safely induce two different traffic flows in the connection between the ground road and the underground road. Through VISSIM, we calculated the appropriate amount of outflow and inflow traffic compared to the capacity of the main line when there is a Merge/Diverge section in the underground road. and Through the analysis of the number of conflicts, the appropriate traffic control level for safety in the underground, A basic study was conducted on the level of risk in the underpass according to the level of delay in the ground part through the analysis of the delay scenario of the ground road.
PURPOSES : In this study, the effects of installation of diagonal crosswalks on traffic flow depending on the types of intersections are analyzed. METHODS : Scrambled crosswalks have advantages in the traffic safety. Therefore, a comparative analysis of the overall average delay before and after installation of the scrambled crosswalk was conducted using VISSIM. RESULTS : The overall average delay for the scrambled crosswalk decreased when the traffic volume ratio of the major to the minor street is 1: 6 in 2-by-1 and 3-by-1 types of intersections. The scrambled crosswalk improved efficiency of traffic operation in intersections: higher traffic volume for a major street, lower traffic volume for a minor street, and longer cross-distance for a major street. CONCLUSIONS:This study can be used to determine when a scrambled crosswalk should be installed to improve operational efficiency.

The pedestrian green time is usually long at wide width intersections. This sometimes causes the increase of delay on the whole intersection because of long cycle length and thus small g/C ratio on some direction. In this paper, to improve these problems, staggered pedestrian crossing was evaluated on the vehicular and pedestrian aspects. The results were gained by using both TRANSYT-7F and VISSIM model. The vehicle control delay of the staggered pedestrian crossing was estimated to be decreasing than that of the general pedestrian crossing by 14.9% to 85.6%. The pedestrian average delay of two pedestrian crossing systems was examined by analytical method and VISSIM. According to the analytical method there was no significant difference between each pedestrian crossing system. The pedestrian delay of staggered pedestrian crossing was from 13.4% to 22.3% than the general pedestrian crossing by VISSIM. In conclusion, the staggered pedestrian crossing was more effective than general pedestrian crossing for both the vehicle and the pedestrian. However this conclusion was resulted from micro simulation where traffic volume condition, v/c, was from 0.8 to 1.1.
