Traffic accidents among children have been decreasing after the installation of yellow carpets. However, the explanatory power of the causal relationship between yellow carpet installation and traffic accidents is still insufficient. The yellow carpet effect was analyzed in greater depth using virtual reality (VR) simulation experiments in various situation that could not be evaluated in existing actual vehicle research studies due to difficulties or risks in implementation. A target site where an actual yellow carpet was installed was selected and, implemented into a virtual environment. Subjects were made to, were gaze measurement equipment and ride the simulator. The visual/driving behavior before and after yellow carpet installation was compared, and a t-test analysis was performed for statistical verification. All the results were found to be statistically significant.

Geothermal heat pump(GHP)system has been extensively disseminated due to the recent increasing demand over new and renewable energy. However, the economics and system reliability has been key issues and barriers to insure a better system performance as designed originally. The building integrated designs of geothermal heat pump system are test and optimize GHP system by evaluating its performance in virtual reality. System design is an iterative process that will help optimize the cost efficiency of the system. One of the primary goals is to minimize the energy imbalance between the amount of energy extracted from the ground and the energy reject to it. This will reduce the land area required to install the GHX, reduce the cost of installing it and ensure the long-term efficiency of the system. Commissioning is the process of ensuring that are designed, installed, functionally tested, and capable of being operated and maintained to performance in conformity with design intent. In this paper, Study on introduction of Initial commissioning method of Geothermal Heat Pump(GHP) system using ISO performance data has been introduced. Also KIER GHP Simulator is used to simulate actual heat pimp operating condition and test commissioning method. Result should that the experiment data base could verify the applicability of the commissioning method, and also were able to suggest a better ways to GHP commissioning.
A systematic review was conducted to identify components and convergent effects of simulation program using schizophrenia scenario in nursing education. Using 4 different databases, 226 articles were identified and 11 studies met the inclusion criteria. There were 5 qualitative studies, 5 quantitative studies and 1 study used mixed method design. The simulation incorporated various methods including standardized patients, role playing, simulator and virtual reality that majority studies(63.6%) used standardized patients. For the evaluation, studies examined diverse variables including knowledge, learning self competency, learning satisfaction and self directed learning. Considering complexity and difficulty of nursing for schizophrenia, future studies with well designed simulation program are required to prove its effectiveness.

Background & Object: Basic daily activity screening tool such as the Modified Barthel Index (MBI) has been used commonly in rehabilitation clinic and community based rehabilitation setting. Previous studies have shown the significant relations between the level of daily activities and driving ability on stroke or elderly people. However, there is a lack of studies to investigate the usefulness of MBI on prediction of driving ability for stroke patient. This study was to predict driving abilities of stroke survivor using Korean version Modified Barthel Index (K-MBI). Methods: A sample of 48 patients with stroke in rehabilitation hospital was recruited. All participants were tested level of basic daily activities using K-MBI. The driving ability of participants was tested using virtual reality driving simulator. The predictive validity was calculated of the K-MBI among pass or fail group of driving simulator test using receiver operating characteristics curves. Results: The cut-off score of >86.5 on the K-MBI is proper sensitivity to predict on driving performance ability. Conclusion: This pilot result offers clinical reference to therapists and caregivers for reasoning on driving recommendation period during rehabilitation stage of stroke survivors. Further studies need to identify prediction using real on-road test in a large population group.

Due to the terrain in Korea, there are many road sections passing through mountainous areas. During the winter, there is a higher risk of traffic accidents, due to black ice caused by the lack of sunlight. Despite domestic road freezing safety measures, accidents caused by road freezing results in severe traffic accidents. Under these considerations, this study analyzed whether traffic safety signs that change in response to the external temperature help drivers recognize frozen road segments. The study was conducted through analysis of the effect of the signs on a driver's perspective. For the signs under development, out of the signs designed by experts, the sign design which received the highest visibility and effectiveness evaluation ratings from the general public was selected. The sign was implemented through Virtual Reality (VR) and installed on the right side of the road to analyze the effect on gazing and driving behavior. As a result of analyzing the driver's driving behavior, a speed reduction of about 7km/h or more was found in the sign section. Therefore, It was found that the existence of the sign had a strong relationship with the rate of the drivers' speed reduction.

After the Sewol Ferry accident, the importance of maritime safety has been emphasized in Korea. In particular, educational and experience training are not only being conducted for maritime personnel but also in schools and at maritime-related organizations in order to broadly instill maritime safety awareness. Based on SOLAS regulations, safety education for sailors conducted every 10 days passenger boats, and fire-fighting drills and abandon-ship training should be conducted once a month on merchant ships. After the Sewol Ferry accident, the maximum number of trainees was reduced from 40 to 20 in order to improve the effectiveness of these training sessions by requiring all trainees to participate in the actual training. The current training process consists of two steps: textbook-based theoretical training and actual practice. Current training environment provides limited capability from human and facility recourses which limit the numbers of trainee participated and system operation time. By introducing the simulation training, it will improve the trainee skill and performance prior to the on-site training and allow the more effective and rapid progress on actual practice. Therefore, it will be proposed the three-step training method in order to improve the effectiveness on fire-fighting drill in Maritime Safety Education on this study. This study suggests a three step training method that would increase the efficiency of maritime safety education. An image-training step to enhance individual task awareness and equipment usage via simulation techniques after theoretical training has been added. To implement this simulation, a virtual training session will be conducted before actual training, based on knowledge obtained from theoretical training, which is expected to increase the speed with which trainees can adapt during the practical training session. In addition, due to the characteristics of the simulation, repeated training is possible for reaction drills in emergency circumstances and other various scenarios that are difficult to replicate in actual training. The efficiency of training is expected to improve because trainees will have practiced before practical training takes place, which will decrease the time needed for practical training and increase the number of training sessions that can be executed, increasing the efficiency of training overall. This study considers development methods for fire-fighting drill simulations using virtual reality techniques.

Modern agriculture is being transformed into smart agriculture to maximize production efficiency along with changes in the 4th industrial revolution. However, rural areas in Korea are facing challenges of aging, low fertility, and population outflow, making it difficult to transition to smart agriculture. Among ICT technologies, simulation allows users to observe or experience the results of their choices through imitation or reproduction of reality. The combination of the three-dimension (3D) model and the greenhouse simulator enable a 3D experience by virtual greenhouse for fruits and vegetable cultivation. At the same time, it is possible to visualize the greenhouse under various cultivation or climate conditions. The objective of this study is to apply the greenhouse climate management model for simulation development that can visually see the state of the greenhouse environment under various micrometeorological properties. The numerical solution with the mathematical model provided a dynamic change in the greenhouse environment for a particular greenhouse design. Light intensity, crop transpiration, heating load, ventilation rate, the optimal amount of CO2 enrichment, and daily light integral were calculated with the simulation. The results of this study are being built so that users can be linked through a web page, and software will be designed to reflect the characteristics of cladding materials and greenhouses, cultivation types, and the condition of environmental control facilities for customized environmental control. In addition, environmental information obtained from external meteorological data, as well as recommended standards and set points for each growth stage based on experiments and research, will be provided as optimal environmental factors. This simulation can help growers, students, and researchers to understand the ICT technologies and the changes in the greenhouse microclimate according to the growing conditions.
