  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate prevalence and ecological characteristics of excessive television viewing among elementary school students in Seoul. Methods: Secondary data, representative sample of 11,082 subjects in Seoul was used. After prevalence of the excessive television viewing was identified by using factor analysis, 6 main factors explaining the ecological indicators was founded. After identifying prevalence of the excessive television viewing, by using factor analysis, we found 6 main factors explaining the ecological indicators. After categorizing factors into socio-psychological and lifestyle characteristics, we were investigated the odds ratio of excessive television viewing per characteristics by using multiple logistic regression. Results: The prevalence of excessive television viewing was 29.7% among the elementary school student in Seoul. The prevalence were higher in male, higher grade, and non-South of the Han River. Socio-psychological indicators which expressed excessive television viewing were annoying or bullying, scolding from teacher, depressed mode, thought for a runaway from home, an experience of diet, and negative body image. Life style indicators were a lower intake of fruit and vegetables, a higher intake of Ramyun and soft drink, a worse life style of hand washing, and wearing safety equipment. Conclusion: Lifestyle of television viewing was the comprehensive results from family, school, and society rather than a personal preference. Therefore, it is necessary to educate the hazard of excessive television viewing, to reenforce the students' health competence, to activate a safe leisure program as an alternate of television viewing, and to develop a recommendation.

  • This study is based on the viewing characteristics of mountain landscapes. It investigates whether the current landscape management-related regulations are efficient in terms of the viewing characteristics of the mountain landscape against Bukhansan Mountain in which the conventional landscape management techniques were used. In addition, some viewing characteristics of mountain landscapes, such as distance from the view point to the target mountain, angle of elevation, altitude, gradient, have been analyzed and 3 cases of viewing condition have been simulated. The following results were obtained: i) Mountain landscapes can be managed up to 7~8 times of the mountain height with a $5{\sim}9^{\circ}$ of elevation angle. ii) In the Natural Landscape District which is situated on the hillside, it is reasonable to include altitude, gradient as criteria for regulation. iii) According to a simulation of the construction permit height by viewing distance, it was confirmed that buildings can be constructed up to 111.55m when viewing the 20% ridge, 150.75m when viewing the 50% ridge and 189.05m when viewing the 70% ridge. iv) The construction permit height varies depending on the landscape analysis method that is used and the application conditions. It is therefore unfair to apply height limit regulations to all buildings without considering the geographical features or viewing characteristics. v) It is unreasonable to apply 2~3 management techniques to the same area for landscape management. Therefore, we recommend the Focused Landscape Management Area based on the landscape master plan as a integrating mountain landscape management techniques.

  • In this paper, we review the proposed liquid crystal display (LCD) with a tunable viewing angle consisting of a conventional liquid crystal display (LCD) panel and a thermally variable retardation layer (TVRL) characterized by uniformly aligned LC film with transparent indium-tin-oxide electrodes for Joule heating. In the TVRL, nematic phase is transitioned into isotropic by Joule heating. The numerical calculation showed that the intrinsic wide viewing angle was achieved at the isotropic phase of the TVRL by Joule heating, whereas the narrow viewing angle was obtained at the nematic phase of the TVRL. The simulated and experimental results of the proposed LCD show continuous and symmetrical viewing angle characteristics by tuning the retardation of TVRL using Joule heating. The structure of the viewing angle control proposed here is adoptable to all LCD modes with wide viewing angle characteristics.

  • Purpose: This study examines the relationship between content characteristics and customer viewing and purchase intention in live-streaming commerce. Research design, data, and methodology: For this purpose, seven independent factors such as entertainment, artistry, storytelling, informativity, interactivity, reliability, and technicality are extracted based on previous literature. The viewing intention and purchase intention are adopted as dependent factors. The role of 'immersion' is investigated as a mediating factor between the independent and dependent factors. Results: The results showed that entertainment, artistry, technicality, and reliability significantly affected immersion, and immersion affected viewing intention and purchase intention. Immersion was found to play a mediating role between content characteristics and consumer viewing and purchase intention. Conclusions: The results indicate that the content characteristics not only attract customers but also affect their immersion, viewing intention, and purchase intention directly or indirectly in the live-streaming commerce sector.

  • The study explores the effects of recording and viewing distances in stereoscopic 3D on presence, perceptual characteristics, and negative experiences. Groups of 20 participants were randomly assigned to each of the three viewing distances, and all participants were exposed to five versions of the stereoscopic 3D music video that differs in recording distance. The results showed that first, viewers felt a higher experience of presence and had a better perception of objects positioned near the cameras. Second, viewers felt a greater perception of screen transmission as the viewing distance increased. Finally, viewers felt a greater negative experiences due to the joint effects of recording and viewing distance. As investigating the influence of stereoscopic 3D content and viewing environments on psychological factors, the study expects to provide a guideline of human factors in 3D.

  • We have studied the viewing angle control using a twist nematic liquid crystal display (TN-LCDs). These TK-LCDs have the characteristics, of which is not good image quality, for examples low Contrast ratio and gray scale inversion problems at upper and down viewing direction. TN-LCDs have the function of switching between the wide viewing mode and narrow viewing angle mode using two tilted LC layers. Tilt angles of the two LC layers, $14^{\circ}$ and $60^{\circ}$ were required in both wide viewing angle and narrow viewing angle modes, respectively. Consequently, this device is compatible with two image performances of which the wide viewing angle mode and Narrow viewing angle mode.

  • In contact-type multiview 3 dimensional imaging systems, the optimum design parameters are not easily found because of difficulty in determining the size of viewing zone. Two factors related with the viewing zone, such as different view image patching and the widths of the viewing regions are discussed to explain the difficulty.

  • Because of its weak points that narrow viewing angle and grayscale inversion, 'bare' twisted nematic (TN) LCD has some limits to use as a display device, though its great strong points that low cost, high yield, simple design, high transmittance and normally white. The 'WideView(WV)' film which introduced by Fuji co., has been good solution to extend the viewing angles of TN mode, therefore that film have been used generally for TN panels needed wide viewing angle. This paper introduce the research to find the parameters of the Wide view film and a TN panel which affect viewing angle characteristics and how to adjust those parameters.

  • The characteristics of the response time and the viewing angle on twisted nematic (TN) liquid crystal display (LCD) and amorphous (a)-TN-LCD without rubbing were investigated. To measure the tansmission-voltage, response time, and viewing angle characteristics, we prepared three kinds of LC cells and then studied the surface liquid crystal alignment effect. It was found that the response time on A-TN-LCD was fast compared to the TN-I-CD, and the weak anchoring strength was attributed to the fast response time on a-TN-LCD. Also, we obtained the wide viewing angle characteristics on a-TN-LCD. The liquid crystal alignment of LCD device for electro-optical characteristics is discussed in the present paper.
