  • Dual converter using diode bridge and 6-thyristor is discussed and the characteristics of this converter depending on their switching mode is revealed. The switching modes of converter operation are identified on both ac and dc sides. The circuit has the ability to accept or deliver DC current without change of nominal DC voltage magnitude or polarity and has the capability not only to instantaneously change from motoring to generating and vice versa, but to operate cycloconverter.

  • This paper proposes an area-efficient FIR filter architecture for sampling rate conversion of hi-fi audio data. Sampling rate conversion(SRC) block converts audio data sampled at 96KHz down to 48KHz sampled data and vice versa. 63-tap FIR filter coefficients have been synthesized that gives 100dB stop band attenuation and 5.2KHz transition bandwidth. Time-shared filter architecture requires only one multiplier and accumulator for 63-tap filter operation. This results in huge hardware saving of up to 10~19 times smaller compared with traditional FIR structure.

  • Linear motion and angular motion in task space are handled separately in joint velocity planning for redundant robot manipulators. In solving inverse kinematic equations with given joint velocity limits, we consider the order of priority for linear motion and angular motion. The proposed method will be useful in such applications where only linear motions are important than angular motions or vice versa.

  • The recent work by the authors (see, Withers, 1999; Withers and McGavin, 2006; Withers and Nadarajah, 2006) provided new expressions for repeated upper tail integrals of the univariate normal density and so also for the general Hermite function. Here we derive new expressions for repeated lower tail integrals of the same. The calculations involve the use of Moran's L-function and the Airy function. In particular, the Hermite functions are expressed in terms of Moran's L-function and vice versa.

  • For two distinct rank-1 matrices A and B, a rank-1 matrix C is called a separating matrix of A and B if the rank of A + C is 2 but the rank of B + C is 1 or vice versa. In this case, rank-1 matrices A and B are said to be separable. We show that every pair of distinct Boolean rank-l matrices are separable.

  • In this paper, we give a result that maximum principles including Zorn's lemma can be regarded as various types of fixed point theorems. Our main application is that the well-known ordering principles in nonlinear analysis including the Bishop-Phelps argument and a number of its generalizations can be converted to fixed point theorems and vice versa. Consequently, we obtain new results and unify many known results.

  • In Multiple Objective Linear Programming (MOLP), it is well known that efficient solution and weight are correspondent to each other. The purpose of this paper is to study relationships between efficient face and the region of weight in MOLP. It is shown that the regions of weights corresponding to two efficient extreme points are also neighbor if two efficient extreme points are neighbor each other, and that the set of the efficient solutions corresponding to the common part of weight regions is efficient face. Using the above, we present a method to find the efficient solutions corresponding to a given weight and vice versa.

  • In this paper, we define precompact set in intuitionistic fuzzy metric spaces and prove that any subset of an intuitionistic fuzzy metric space is compact if and only if it is precompact and complete. Also we define topologically complete intuitionistic fuzzy metrizable spaces and prove that any $G\delta$ set in a complete intuitionistic fuzzy metric spaces is a topologically complete intuitionistic fuzzy metrizable space and vice versa.
