Prediction of Noise & Vibration Effect of Agricultural Tractor Transmission at Design Stage

  • At design stage of the TRXI agricultural tractor transmission (New product of TongYang Moolsan Co., Ltd), the noise and vibration of the transmission were analyzed theoretically for the optimal design of the transmission . For this analysis, the finite element model was developed using a commercial computer software, ANSYS. The noise and vibration of the TRXI transmission housing were predicted by the modal analysis. Natural frequency of the TRXI transmission housing was ranged from 12.53Hz(1st mode ) to 30.05Hz(5th mode). The fifth mode took place at the bearing metal in the area of rear transmission housing and was very close to the gear mesh frequency (30.5Hz) of low rang gear at the low creep shifting . Based on the results , the bearing metal of the range shift housing was reenforced with the rib at design stage.

  • A gearbox can be regarded as a self-exciting dynamic system, which has a vibration source. Transmission error (TE) is considered to be an main excitation source for gear noise and vibration. The TE excitation is transmitted through the gears, shafts, bearings, and housings. Thus, an experimental approach to each mechanical parts is useful in order to understand and evaluate the dynamic behaviour of a gearbox. This study is focused on the transmission and vibration characteristics of a helical gear system in development stage. In addition, by considering the tolerance factors and resonance characteristics, the vibration response of actual dynamic system is analysed.

  • Linear cyclic systems (LCS's) are a class of systems whose dynamic behavior changes periodically. Such a cyclic behavior is ubiquitous in systems with fundamentally repetitive motion. Yet, the knowledge of the noise and vibration transmission paths in LCS's is quite limited due to the time-varying nature of their dynamics. The first part of this two-part paper derives a generic expression that describes how the noise and/or vibration are transmitted between two (or multiple) points in the LCS's. In Part II, experimental validation of the theoretical development of Part I is provided. The noise and vibration transmission paths of the scroll and rotary compressors (two typical LCS's) are examined to show that the LCS's indeed generate a series of amplitude modulated input signals at the output, where the carrier frequencies are harmonic multiples of the LCS' fundamental frequency. The criterion proposed in Part I to determine how well a given LCS can be approximated as a linear time-invariant systems (LTIS) is applied to the noise and vibration transmission paths of the two compressors. Furthermore, the implications of the experimental validations/applications are discussed in order to assess the applicability of the noise/vibration source and transmission path identification techniques based on the assumption that the system under consideration is linear and time-invariant.

  • The objective of this paper is to perform measurements of power transmission and reflection coefficients in a coupled plate. The coupled plate has been divided into 2 subsystems. The out-of-plane vibration has been only considered with assumption of relatively small in-plane vibration. The coupling loss factors have been measured with consideration of the power balance condition. The power transmission and reflection coefficients has been estimated from the measured values of the coupling loss factors. The measured power transmission and reflection coefficients have been compared with the corresponding theoretical coefficients in a semi-infinite coupled plate.

  • The dynamic characteristic of a wrist power transmission examine closely with mass property, to present the model which induce the vibration is ultimately the purpose. A robot wrist power transmission for analysis model got the mass property through the approach to be the experimental. A bearing equivalent stiffness which supports the axis and a gear contact equivalent stiffness are determined by the simplicity analysis model compared the result of the experiment. We calculate the vibration tendency of the robot wrist power transmission by an analysis tool which is called the RecurDyn. We compared it with a signal analysis experiment's which a robot operation happens which is based on the ambient noise.

  • The sources of the vibration of railway vehicles in the cabin are usually bogie, axle, and wheel. The vibrations are transmitted through the floor structures of railway vehicle. The floor structure is the combination of bottom plate, plywood, and rubber. In this research the vibration transmission is measured experimentally and analyzed numerically to find the transmission characteristics of the vehicle floor structures. The result shows that the vibration characteristic of soft rubber is better than hard rubber or wood as the connecting material between the bottom plate and the plywood.

  • Main sources of the vibration of a gear-pair system are backlash and transmission error. This paper investigates the dynamics of a gear-pair system involving backlash and transmission error. This paper presented 4 types of gear motions due to the existence of a backlash. The solutions are calculated using a multiple-time scale method and numerically. The results shows the existence of 4 type motions, jump phenomenon, and chaotic motion consequently the design of gear driving system with low vibration and noise requires the study on the effects of transmission error and backlash, i.e. nonlinearities in gear driving system.

  • The purpose of this study is to calculate transmission loss of KHST passenger vehicle's wall section accurately Typical transmission loss measurement of wall in the laboratory condition was carried out in advance, which is easier than KHST. Transmission loss results were compared with those by statistical acoustic method. Transmission loss values of KHST calculated by experimental method are compared with those from closed form solution.

  • Transmission loss of KHST passenger vehicle was calculated using measured acoustic data: In order to verify the transmission loss results for KHST case, similar experiment was carried out in laboratory condition, which result was compared those by geometric acoustic method. The computational results shows good agreement with the transmission loss magnitude from experiments. This paper also mentions items to obtain more accurate transmission loss values, i. e. how to assure reverberant field condition, the selection of source speaker' location.
