This paper deals with the magnet arrangement for vibration reduction and improvement in Starting Characteristic of Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor (PMLSM). Thrust, detent force, normal force and lateral force are generated in PMLSM. The detent force and lateral force cause the vibration of PMLSM. The detent force and the lateral force are analyzed by using 3-Dimensional Finite Element Method (3-D FEM). The efficiency and vibration of PMLSM are measured by experiment.
The power flow analysis (PFA) has been performed to analyze the vibration of coupled plates excited by a point force in an arbitrary direction. The point force generates the out-of-plane vibration associated wish flexural waves and the in-plane vibration associated with longitudinal and shear waves. The energy governing equation for each type of waves was introduced and solved to Predict the vibrational energy density and intensity generated by the out-of-plane and in-plane components of the point force in an arbitrary direction. The wave transmission approach was used to consider the mode conversion at the joint of the coupled plates. Numerical results for vibrational energy density and intensity on the coupled plates were presented. Comparison of the results by PFA with exact results showed that PFA can be an effective tool to predict the spatial variation of the vibrational energy and intensity on the coupled plates at high frequencies.

Objective: Whole body vibration (WBV) and plyometrics are common training techniques which increase strength, blood flow, and lower body force and power. The effects these techniques have on sedentary population is unknown. It is our aim to assess the effectiveness of WBV and plyometrics on sedentary population. Design: Experimental study. Methods: Twenty-seven sedentary subjects were assigned to either the control group, jumping only group, or jumping with vibration group. Jump height (myotest or vertec), velocity, force, blood lactates, and rating of perceived exertion (RPE). Subjects were measured on the initial, seventh, and eighteenth visits. Control group attended measurements only. Jumping only and jumping with vibration groups performed jumping from a vibrating platform to a surface 7 1/2 inches higher for 3 bouts of 20 seconds. Each subject in jumping only and jumping with vibration groups attended three times per week for six weeks. Vibration was set at 40 Hz and 2-4 mm of displacement. Results: There was no significant change among groups in force, velocity, vertec height, and myotest height. However there was a significant increase in vertec height from initial to final measure (p<0.05) for jumping with vibration group. RPE was significantly higher between control group and jumping with vibration group after intervention (p<0.05). Conclusions: WBV with vibration increased jump height. Jumping with vibration group experienced increased exertion than for controls. WBV with plyometrics had no effect on force, velocity, blood lactates, or calculated jump height. Further studies controlling for initial measure of blood lactates and using an external focus may be necessary to elicit velocity, force and jump height changes.
In this paper, magneto-rheological(MR) damper is studied for vibration control of large infra structures under earthquake. Generally, active control devices need a large control force and a high power supply system to reduce the vibration effectively. Large and miss tuned control force may induce the dangerous situation such that the generated large control force acts to amplify the structural vibration. Recently, to overcome the weaknesses of the active control, the semi-active control method is suggested by many researchers. Semi-active control uses the passive control device of which the characteristics can be modified. Control force of the semi-active device is not generated from the actuator with power supply. It is generated as a dynamic reaction force of the device same as in the passive control case, so the control system is inherently stable and robust. Unlike the case of passive control, control force of semi-active control is adjusted depending on the measured response of the structure, so the vibration can be reduced more effectively against various unknown environmental loads. Magneto-rheological(MR) damper is one of the semi-active devices. Dynamic characteristics of the MR material can be changed by applying the magnetic fields. So the control of MR damper needs only small power. Response time of MR to the input voltage is very short, so the high performance control is possible. MR damper has a high force capacity so it is adequate to the vibration control of large infra structure. Because MR damper has a nonlinear property, normal control method used in active control may not be effective. Clipped optimal control, modified bang-bang control etc. have been suggested to MR damper by many researchers. In this study, sliding mode fuzzy control(SMFC) is applied to MR damper. Genetic algorithm is used for the controller tuning. To verify the applicability of MR damper and suggested algorithm, numerical simulation on the aseismic control is carried out. Simulation model is three-story building structure, which was used in the paper of Dyke, et al. The control performance is compared with clipped optimal control. The present results indicate that the SMFC algorithm can reduce the earthquake-induced vibration very effectively.
Piston slap is not only one of the major sources of noise and vibration in internal combustion engines but also a cause of the deterioration of engine performance. The basic mechanism associated with the piston slap seems to be quite simple but the phenomenon is in fact complicated with regard to many mechanical elements associated, First of all the impact force of piston slap must be identified to estimate engine block surface vibration, In this paper model of collision point is proposed to calculate the impact force when slap surface vibration. In this paper model of collision point is proposed to calculate the impact force when slap occurs. The parameters of the model are estimated by employing the concept of point mobility, . The predicted and experimentally observed vibration results confirm that the proposed method is practically useful.
Semiconductor piezoresistive type vibration sensor was fabricated by using semiconductor process and micromachining technology. To measure the micro electromagnetic force between coil and magnet, fabricated vibration sensor was used. Toapply micro electromagnetic force produced from the micro exciter, small-sized NdFeB permanent magnet was attached on the mass of the fabricated vibration sensor. The measured electromagnetic force are about 5~180dyne when the applied sinusoidal current of 1KHz in the range of 1.5~8mA. The measurement of micro electromagnetic forcewas performed by changing the distance between coil and magnet. Output characteristics of micro electromagnetic force according to the applied coil current were linear. Furthermore, output results were used to get the transfer constant that is important to decide the efficiency and the performance of the coil and magnet.

In former papers which were published already, authors had derived calculation formulae for the axial stiffness and the radial force conversion factor of crankshaft. In this paper, crankthrow axial stiffness and radial force conversion factors of actual engines are calculated by these theoretical formulae and then their characteristics are investigated. As the results, the axial stiffness and the radial force conversion factor of the latest super-long stroke engine are smaller than those of old-type engines. The influence of the former brings down the resonance speed of engine and the latter reduces the exciting force of axial vibration, but as the harmonic component of axial vibration force becomes rather strong, its effect of reducing is considerably canceled. In conclusion, as the latest super-long stroke engine is seemed to be liable to axial vibration of crankshafat, it is recommend that, in the design stage of propulsion shaft, its axial vibration condition must be more carefully checked.
For free motions, vibration suppression of flexible manipulators has been one of the hottest research topics. However, for constrained motions, a little effort has been devoted for vibration suppression control. Using the dependency of elastic deflections of links on contact force under static conditions, vibrations for constrained planar two-link flexible manipulators have been suppressed successfully by controlling the contact force. However, for constrained spatial multi-link flexible manipulators, the vibrations cannot be suppressed by only controlling the contact force. So, the aim of this paper is to clarify the vibration mechanism of a constrained, multi-DOF, flexible manipulator and to devise the suppression method. We apply a concise hybrid position/force control scheme to control a flexible manipulator modeled by lumped-parameter modeling method. Finally, a comparison between simulation and experimental results is presented to show the performance of our method.
Forced vibration of a thin circular ring with a concentrated harmonic force is analyzed when the ring is free and has only the in-plane motion. Using the unit doublet function for external force, the governing equation is obtained and is solved by the use of Laplace transform. The exact solutions of displacement components and bending moment are obtained. In order to verify the solutions of analysis, finite element analysis is performed and the results shows good agreement. Then, frequency response curves for displacement and bending moment are obtained. In deriving the governing equations and the solutions, nondimensional parameter of the exciting frequency and the magnitude of exciting force are extracted. As the displacement components are obtained, the remaining bending strain, slope, curvature, shear force, etc. can also be derived. With the results of this work, the responses of a free ring excited on multiple points with different frequencies can also be obtained easily by superposition.
