The UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) that is remotely operating in various and long flight environments must have a very reliable propulsion system. Precise fault diagnosis of the turbo shaft engine for the Smart UAV that has the vertical take-off, landing and forward flight behaviors can promote reliability and availability. This work proposes a new diagnostic method that can identify the faulted components from engine measuring parameter changes using Fuzzy Logic and quantify its faults from the identified fault pattern using Neural Network Algorithms. The proposed diagnostic method can detect not only single fault but also multiple faults.
Simplified analytical solutions are developed for the dynamic analyses of an axially loaded pile foundation embedded in a transverse-isotropic, fluid-filled, poro-visco-elastic soil with rigid substratum. The pile is modeled as a viscoelastic Rayleigh-Love rod, while the surrounding soil is regarded as a transversely isotropic, liquid-saturated, viscoelastic, porous medium of which the mechanical behavior is represented by the Boer's poroelastic media model and the fractional derivative model. Upon the separation of variables, the frequency-domain responses for the impedance function of the pile top, and the vertical displacement and the axial force along the pile shaft are gained. Then by virtue of the convolution theorem and the inverse Fourier transform, the time-domain velocity response of the pile head is derived. The presented solutions are validated, compared to the existing solution, the finite element model (FEM) results, and the field test data. Parametric analyses are made to show the effect of the soil anisotropy and the excitation frequency on the pile-soil dynamic responses.
Artificial neural networks (ANN) have been the focus of several studies when it comes to evaluating the pile's bearing capacity. Nonetheless, the principal drawbacks of employing this method are the sluggish rate of convergence and the constraints of ANN in locating global minima. The current work aimed to build four ANN-based prediction models enhanced with methods from the black hole algorithm (BHA), league championship algorithm (LCA), shuffled complex evolution (SCE), and symbiotic organisms search (SOS) to estimate the carrying capacity of piles in cold climates. To provide the crucial dataset required to build the model, fifty-eight concrete pile experiments were conducted. The pile geometrical properties, internal friction angle 𝛗 shaft, internal friction angle 𝛗 tip, pile length, pile area, and vertical effective stress were established as the network inputs, and the BHA, LCA, SCE, and SOS-based ANN models were set up to provide the pile bearing capacity as the output. Following a sensitivity analysis to determine the optimal BHA, LCA, SCE, and SOS parameters and a train and test procedure to determine the optimal network architecture or the number of hidden nodes, the best prediction approach was selected. The outcomes show a good agreement between the measured bearing capabilities and the pile bearing capacities forecasted by SCE-MLP. The testing dataset's respective mean square error and coefficient of determination, which are 0.91846 and 391.1539, indicate that using the SCE-MLP approach as a practical, efficient, and highly reliable technique to forecast the pile's bearing capacity is advantageous.
This paper presents the FEM analysis results on the deformation behavior safety of automatic cut-off horizontal and conventional vertical gas valves. Based on the FEM analysis, the primary maximum deformation of $4.4{\mu}m$ was formed on the right end side of a valve body when the internal gas pressure was supplied on the screw port and gas discharge port of an automatic cut-off horizontal gas valve. And the secondary maximum deformation of $2.9{\mu}m$ was formed on the end side of safety valve port. This small deformation of an automatic cut-off horizontal gas valve is strongly related to the balanced design of a horizontal gas valve main body, which is composed of a screw part, gas outlet port, port for a stem and spindle shaft assembly, and safety valve port. But, the primary maximum deformation of 0.076mm was formed on the upper part of a conventional automatic cut-off vertical gas valve when the internal gas pressure was supplied on the screw port and gas discharge port. And the secondary maximum deformation of 0.055mm was formed on the left end side of a gas outlet port. This may effect on the sealing clearance of o-ring that is inserted on the groove of an automatic cut-off unit. Thus, this paper recommends an automatic cut-off horizontal gas valve compared with that of a conventional gas valve for a gas leakage free mechanism of a LPG cylinder valve.

Owing to the depletion of fossil energy, wind power is attracting attention as a promising environmentally friendly alternative energy source, because it is abundant, renewable, and non-polluting. Wind turbines are divided into horizontal axis wind turbines (HAWTs) and vertical axis wind turbines (VAWTs) according to the direction of the rotating shaft. VAWTs have a low power generation efficiency, but are not affected by the wind direction and, thus, no yaw system is required and their structure is simple. Small VAWTs are attracting much attention because they can generate power even at low wind speeds. In this study, the output voltages and output currents of small VAWTs with gyromill type, hinge type and double door type blades capable of generating power even at low wind speeds were analyzed at variable wind speeds in the range of 1~11 m/s. At the maximum wind speed of 11m/s, the application of the double door type blades achieved 67% and 9% higher wind turbine output voltages than that of the gyromill type and hinge type blades, respectively. As regards the wind turbine output currents, the application of the double door type blades gave rise to 93% and 5% higher results than that of the gyromill type and hinge type blades, respectively. Through this study, the excellent output characteristics and commercialization potential of the double door type blades, which can generate power both at low and high wind speeds, were confirmed.
For the purpose of research study, a vertical shaft of 98m in length and 3.05m in diameter was constructed in the layer of conglomerate by using the Raise Boring Machine (RBM). In order to estimate the net penetration rate of the RBM, which can be used in the stage of design, the in-situ test results were analysed and correlated to data from the boring log in situ and laboratory testing. Its average net penetration rate is 2.233mm/rev while its average advance rate is 0.382m/hr, which is lower than that of TBM(Tunnel Boving Machine). It turns out that the net penetration rate increases with the increase of strength characteristics in rock mass (e.g., uniaxial compression strength, tensile strength, etc.). Similarly, the net penetration rate increases linearly with the hardness of rock mass. These results are contrary to the results of the previous construction sites where the TBM was generally used in the layer of hard rock. However, the trend obtained in this study is in accordance with the findings of Barton suggesting the relationship between Q$_TBM$ and penetration rate in the layer of soft rock. Thus, the trend is valid in soft and/or weathered rocks.
This study was conducted to analyze the running stability of a semi-crawler type mini-forwarder. The running stability analysis was performed by using a dynamic analysis program, RecurDyn. Physical properties of the semi-crawler type mini-forwarder was performed by using 3D CAD modeler, AutoCAD 3D. As a result from the computer simulation of stationary sideways overturning, it was found that the semi-crawler type mini-forwarder runs safely on a road with a slope not bigger than $20^{\circ}$ regardless whether it is empty or loaded, but in case of a road with a slope bigger than $20^{\circ}$, it is assumed that it is difficult for the car to run safely due to some dangers. In addition, it was found that the critical slope of its sideways overturning gets much smaller when empty since the location of its gravity center is elevated and much higher when it is loaded. As a result from the computer simulation of its hill-climbing ability, since the running speed is unstable in case of a road with a vertical slope not smaller than $28^{\circ}$, it is assumed that it is safe to drive it on a road with a slope not bigger than $28^{\circ}$. Taking a look at the result from an analysis of the running safety when it passes an obstacle, it was observed that a front tire comes off the ground when the running speed of the car is 5 and 4 km per hour respectively when it is empty and loaded while the gravity center of the front tire is watched. When taking a look at the changes in the location of the gravity center of the rear wheel crawler shaft, it was not found that the shaft comes off the ground at the test speeds both when it is empty and loaded.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to find out the normal distal tibial articular surface angle in coronal plane in Koreans. This would be helpful as the basic data for ankle reconstruction after trauma or deformity correction. Materials and Methods: Weight bearing anteroposterior radiographs of 123 normal ankles were reviewed. A line parallel to the shaft of the tibia was made. Another line was drawn parallel to the articular surface of the distal tibia. The superolateral angle that subtended by these two lines was measured. Results: There were 72 males and 51 females. The mean age overall was 35.7 years old. The mean age for males was 31.9 ($28{\sim}36$) years old. The mean age for females was 41.1 ($37{\sim}45$) years old. The mean distal tibial articular surface angle was $90.8^{\circ}$. The mean distal tibial articular surface angle for males was $91.5^{\circ}$ and for females $89.9^{\circ}$. Conclusion: The mean distal tibial articular surface angle in coronal plane for Koreans is $90.8^{\circ}$. We can avoid the error of the varization at the ankle alignment when the correction was performed vertical or minimal valgus to tibia tuberosity axis in Korean people.
High-speed trains have been developed widely in many countries in order to transport a large quantity of people and commodities rapidly. When a high speed train enters a tunnel, aerodynamic resistance is generated suddenly. This resistance causes micro pressure wave and discomfort to passengers. Therefore, it is essential to incorporate a pressure relief system in a tunnel and streamlined shape of a train in order to reduce aerodynamic resistance caused by a high-speed train. Additionally, the cross-sectional area of a tunnel should be carefully determined to reduce discomfort of passengers. A pressure relief duct and a vertical shaft are representative measures in a tunnel. This study represents the effect of pressure relief ducts in order to alleviate pressure changes within a time period in a tunnel. One-dimensional network numerical simulations were carried out in order to estimate the effect of pressure relief systems.

In the past many tunnels have been built to lowest capital investment cost without adequate regard for the cost of operation. But according to increasing the capacity of a ventilation system and to becoming diverse, it is to become more important to come up with the optimal operation stage of ventilation system. In this study, the tunnel ventilation dynamic simulation program had been developed. it is used to calculate the unsteady-state tunnel air velocity and concentration of pollutants according to the assumed average day traffic profile and summarize the energy consumption for the operation of ventilation system. And the operation energy consumption for the electric precipitation system and vertical vent shaft system are evaluated and compared in various operation mode. As the results of this study, the optimal operation stage for these ventilation system are provided.
