Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore violence experienced by workers in the distribution industry. Methods: The research subjects were 236 workers from 2 department stores and 1 large scale discount store located in Daejeon City, Korea. The collected data were analyzed through descriptive statistics, $x^2$-test, and logistic regression analysis. Results: 72.9% of the research subjects experienced verbal violence, and 9.3% of the respondents experienced physical violence during last year. 17.8% of the respondents reported that they had experience of sexual harassment at their workplaces. The variables which affected verbal violence included working departments and stress level, whereas the variable that affected physical violence was educational level of workers. The variables that affected experience of sexual harassment turned out to be gender as well as the duration of work at the current workplaces. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate experiences of violence with patients or family members by paramedics working at emergency rooms. Methods: A questionnaire was administered from June 1 to 31, 2017 to 225 paramedics working at 27 emergency medical centers. The collected data were analyzed with SPSS statistics ver 24.0 program. Results: Within the past year, 208(92.9%) of 224 participants experienced violence among whom 202(90.2%) experienced verbal abuse, 193(86.2%) experienced physical threat, 89(39.7%) experienced physical violence, and 52(23.2%) experienced sexual violence. The level of violence response depending on the overlapping experience of violence type showed significant difference from emotional response (p= .001), social response (p= .001), physical response (p= .004), and overall violence response (p= .001). Conclusion: In conclusion, paramedics are frequently exposed to violence in the emergency rooms, of which they mostly experience verbal abuse. In addition, because the reporting system in the event of violence and the coping process are not well-informed, paramedics are unable to sufficiently utilize the reporting system and programs established within the institution. Therefore, the support of the legal system is needed to create a safe working environment for the medical staff who work in the emergency medical centers.

Methods: The subjects of this study were 185 nurses who worked in emergency rooms of 3 university and 15 general hospitals. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Sheffe test, Pearson correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression analysis using SPSS version 12.0. Results: The major findings of this study were as follow: There were significant differences in age, education, emergency room career, position, exercise in general characteristics. There were significant positive correlation between violence experience and burnout, violence response and burnout. The significant factors influencing burnout were job stress, verbal violence, violence preventive program. Shift pattern, which explained 28% of the burnout. The aims of this study were to investigate the effects of verbal violence experienced during clinical practice, emotional responses, academic stress coping, and depression on professional self-concepts of nursing students. Data were collected through a self-reported structured questionnaire form given to nursing students in grades 3-4 using convenient sampling methods from October 25 to November 1, 2017. As a result, 41.9% of the subjects experienced verbal violence during clinical practice. The frequency of experiences for verbal violence was '1 time' at 16.9%, '2 times' at 15.5%, and '3 times' at 4.7%. The verbal violence attackers were patients (42.9%), nurses (37.7%), and protector (15.5%). Emotional response was positively correlated with depression and frequency of verbal violence. Academic stress coping had a negative correlation with depression and a positive correlation with professional self-concept. Depression was negatively correlated with professional self-concept. Multiple regression analysis showed that academic stress coping and depression were statistically significant variables in the professional self-concept, and these variables had a 28% explanatory power. Therefore, in order to improve the professional self-concept of nursing students, it is necessary to develop a strategy to raise the level of academic stress coping and to reduce depression.
This study investigated the relation between verbal abuse by parents and children's maladjusted emotional behavior. The sampling consisted of 628 children in 16 classes out of every three elementary schools and one middle school. Instruments used for this study were the Verbal Abuse Measure, Parent-to-child violence items of the Conflict Tactics Scales, Emotional Maladjustment Behavior Scale, and Socioeconmic Status. Methods applied to data analysis were multiple regression, logistic regression and logistic curve graphic display. The major findings were ; (1) Of all subjects, almost 20% experienced at least one instance in which they were victims of verbal abuse during the year covered by this study. (2) As the amount of physical abuse by parents increased the verbal abuse by parents increased. The older children experienced more verbal abuse than the younger ones. (3) Verbal abuse by parents was more highly related to maladjusted emotional behavior of the children than physical abuse by parents. (4) Regardless of the physical violence by parents, verbal abuse by parents was associated with maladjusted emotional behavior of children. Children who were subjected to both verbal and physical abuse were more strongly related to withdrawal, hyperactivity, and obsessive-compulsions than children experienced either one or the other.
While the average age of population increases, so as the number elderly workers employed in the private security in Korea. However, not many studies have examined the issues related to elderly security guards so far, especially regarding the experience of workplace violence victimization even though they are quite vulnerable. The current study surveyed elderly private security guards across the nation in an attempt to ask about their workplace violence victimization experience, including both physical and verbal ones. The researchers investigated if victimization experiences affect the elderly security guards' perception of occupational stress. The result indicated that the respondents experienced verbal violence more than physical violence, and perpetrators were usually customers, not their supervisor or coworkers. In addition, those who experienced verbal violence in the workplace, perceived a higher level of occupational stress. The experience of physical violence did not make a significant impact. Policies are discussed in order to decrease workplace violence towards elderly security guards.

Methods: This was a cross-sectional study of 525 elementary school teachers from Jaboatão dos Guararapes, Northeast Brazil. Results: The prevalence of upper extremity musculoskeletal pain among teachers who reported verbal aggression in the past six months (67.7%) was higher than that among those who did not report verbal aggression (51.7%): (prevalence ratio = 1.21; 95% confidence interval = 1.04-1.40). The prevalence of upper extremity musculoskeletal pain was associated with verbal aggression, sex, and common mental disorders, controlled by skin color, age, monthly income, teachers' education, years working as a teacher, workload, and obesity. Furthermore, the measure of the association between verbal aggression and upper extremity musculoskeletal pain was modified by sex and common mental disorders, considered altogether. Teachers who suffered verbal aggression, of the feminine sex, and also having common mental disorders reported high prevalence (85.4%) of upper extremity musculoskeletal pain. Conclusion: The association between verbal violence in the school and complaints of upper extremity musculoskeletal pain was strong and modified by teachers' sex and common mental disorders.
