The effect of various vehicles on the permeation of a model drug, ketoprofen in solution formulation was evaluated using a flow-through diffusion cell system at $37^{\circ}C$. To investigate the mechanism of permeation rate enhancement, the effects of pretreatment with various vehicles on the permeation of the drug were evaluated using 5 mg/ml solution and saturated solution. The order of permeation rate of ketoprofen across hairless mouse skin after pretreatment with various vehicles was similar to the case where the vehicles and the drug were coadministered except ethanol and oleic acid. The results indicate that the mechanism of enhancement can be direct action of the vehicles on the barrier property of the skin and/or carrier mechanism.
Airborne laser scanning thechnology has been studied in many applications, DSM(Digital Surface Model) development, building extraction, 3D virtual city modeling. In this paper, we will evaluate the possibility of airborne laser scanning technology for transportation application, especially for recognizing moving vehicles on road. First, we initially segment the region of roads from all LiDAR DATA using the GIS map and intensity image. Secondly, the segmented region is divided into the roads and vehicles using the height threshold value of local based window. Finally, the vehicles will be classified into the several types of vehicles by MDC(Minimum Distance Classification) method using the vehicle's geometry information, height, length, width, etc

In this paper, track tension estimation methods are developed for tracked vehicles which are subject to various maneuvering tasks such as longitudinal driving on sloping and/or rough roads. The information of the track tension is very important for the tracked vehicles because the track tension is closely related to the maneuverability and the durability of the tracked vehicles. A modified 3 DOF dynamics model is derived for the tracked vehicles and is utilized for estimating the tractive force and track tension for the longitudinal driving case. The tension estimation performance of the proposed methods is verified through the simulation of the Multi-body Dynamics tool. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method under various maneuvering tasks of the tracked vehicles.
A sine with dwell test is well known as a test scenario for evaluation of performance of electronic stability control(ESC) on passenger vehicles and heavy commercial vehicles. However, when it comes to ESC for medium commercial vehicles, the test scenario has not been established yet. In this paper, the sine with dwell test was modified considering characteristics of medium commercial vehicles. The three main modifications of the original test scenario are the steering angle level, steering frequency, and loading condition of the vehicle. These modifications are derived from simulation study for different medium commercial vehicles. From simulation study, it was shown that the ESC system for medium commercial vehicle is objectively evaluated by the proposed test scenario. A clear improvement on vehicle stability was seen in the results when ESC system was used.

The increasing use of vehicles is causing air-pollution problems. Diesel vehicles are preferred to gasoline vehicles, because the diesel vehicles are superior to gasoline vehicles in terms of fuel consumption, durability, power and efficiency. But the emission reduction technologies for diesel vehicle are not developed well like those for gasoline vehicles. Moreover, the NOx and smoke emitted from diesel vehicle are recognized as a main source of the air-pollution in the urban areas. The emission reduction devices have been installed for each of the emission gas components. Using plasma(i.e. electrical energy)only, the emission gas was found to be reduced. The present paper investigate the effects of a low temperature plasma device in engine performance as well as in emission reduction with the change of the applied voltage and the loading rate of the engine.
Running tests on roads were conducted to clarify the influences of road infrastructure, traffic condition and vehicle's emission level to the amount of emission at local roadsides, and to reveal the operation patterns which can reduce the emission peaks. NOx emission peaks of two light duty freight diesel vehicles which have different emission levels were evaluated by using an on-board measurement system. Tests were carried out with various payload conditions and road conditions. As a result many NOx emission peaks were observed when the vehicles were starting or accelerating at intersections. The test vehicle which has higher emission level caused higher frequency and level of NOx emission peaks. Shifting up at lower engine speed in combination with lower acceleration brought out not only reduction of NOx emission peaks level but also of $CO_2$ mass emission.
Recently, automobile industries have developed ADAS, smart cars, connected cars, automated driving systems, which use a variety of sensor systems - ultrasonics, cameras, lidars and radars - and communication systems. It is necessary to examine the electromagnetic immunity of vehicles equipped with the sensor systems due to the fact that the normal operation of those systems is very important to the safety of the vehicles. The electromagnetic immunity tests are carried out in an electromagnetic semi anechoic chamber, which is cut off from the outside. It is difficult to create test environments in which the camera sensor systems of vehicles work properly in the test chamber. In this study, test jigs were designed and tested and as a result they are shown to be effective to create test environments for electromagnetic immunity tests of vehicles equipped with camera sensors. We also proposed additional safety standards for immunity tests of vehicles with camera systems that currently do not exist.
We provide trends on postal vehicles owned and operated by 10 overseas postal agencies, USPS, Postes Canada, Royal Mail, La Poste, Deutsche Post DHL, PostNL, Australia Post, China Post, Japan Post, and Thailand Post. This will be a useful asset to look into how the posts worldwide operate and manages their postal vehicles and service strategies. In this study, we provide the simple specifications of vehicles operated by each post, how to replace vehicles, how to service maintenance and repair, and modes of pick-up & delivery to be introduced soon. We expect this study to present appropriate policy implications for both postal agencies and logistics companies that are facing a major turning point in logistics to operate and evolve the delivery vehicles.
In this paper, we analyze the current research technology trends through the literature reviews of technical outlines of electric vehicles and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, domestic and overseas policy trends, etc. After analyzing the literature, we found out while the re-use and recycling of waste batteries and the in-wheel motor systems are essential areas for the development of electric vehicles and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, the related research is not quite sufficient, so the direction for further research is proposed at the conclusion.
The business of Internet of Vehicles (IoV) is growing rapidly, and the large amount of data exchange has caused problems of large mobile network communication delay and large energy loss. A strategy for resource allocation of IoV communication based on mobile edge computing (MEC) is thus proposed. First, a model of the cloud-side collaborative cache and resource allocation system for the IoV is designed. Vehicles can offload tasks to MEC servers or neighboring vehicles for communication. Then, the communication model and the calculation model of IoV system are comprehensively analyzed. The optimization objective of minimizing delay and energy consumption is constructed. Finally, the on-board computing task is coded, and the optimization problem is transformed into a knapsack problem. The optimal resource allocation strategy is obtained through genetic algorithm. The simulation results based on the MATLAB platform show that: The proposed strategy offloads tasks to the MEC server or neighboring vehicles, making full use of system resources. In different situations, the energy consumption does not exceed 300 J and 180 J, with an average delay of 210 ms, effectively reducing system overhead and improving response speed.
