OFDM 기반 WAVE 시스템의 시간동기 하드웨어 설계 (Hardware Design for Timing Synchronization of OFDM-Based WAVE Systems)

  • 5.9 GHz WAVE(Wireless Access for the Vehicular Environment)는 노변-차량, 차량-차량 통신을 통하여 공공안전과 개인통신을 지원하기 위한 중단거리 무선통신 방식이다. WAVE 물리계층의 핵심기술은 시간동기오류에 민감한 OFDM 방식이며 통신링크상의 지연을 최소화하여 고속의 차량통신 환경을 제공하는 것이 매우 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 오류에 강인하고 복잡도가 낮고 지연시간이 적은 WAVE 시스템 응용을 위한 시간동기 알고리즘과 하드웨어 구조를 제안한다. 제안된 알고리즘은 기존의 알고리즘에 비교하여 연산의 복잡도와 지연시간이 감소되며 하드웨어 구조는 파이프라인 구조와 고속 동작에 영향을 줄 수 있는 RAM이 필요하지 않다는 장점이 있다. Matlab과 FPGA를 이용한 하드웨어 구현을 통한 동기화 오차율(SER) 실험결과, 제안된 알고리즘이 고속 이동환경에 대해 강인하고 효율적이라는 확인하였다.

  • 기존의 신호교차로에 비해 상대적으로 효율적이고 안전한 것으로 평가되고 있는 회전교차로(roundabout)가 최근 전국적으로 설치 운영 중에 있으며 이에 따라 회전교차로의 효율성과 안전성을 개선하기 위한 다양한 연구가 수행 중에 있다. 본 연구에서는 현재까지 시도된 적이 없는 회전교차로와 커넥티드 차량(connected vehicle) 기법의 접목을 통해 Smart Roundabout이라는 새로운 개념의 첨단교통정보시스템을 개발하고 미시적 시뮬레이션을 이용하여 평가하고자 한다. Smart Roundabout은 교차로를 회전하는 차량에 장착된 단말기(on-board equipment, OBE)를 통해 차량들의 주행정보(위치, 속도, 차두시간 등)를 커넥티드 차량(connected vehicle) 기법을 통해 전달받고 회전교차로에 접근하는 차량 내부의 단말기를 통해 교차로 진입에 대한 상환판단을 도와 안전성을 확보함과 동시에 보다 짧은 차두시간(critical headway)을 구현하여 회전교차로의 용량을 증대시킬 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • Announcement protocol in Internet of Vehicles (IoV) is an intelligent application to enhance public safety, alleviate traffic jams and improve transportation quality. It requires communication between vehicles, roadside units and pedestrian to disseminate safety-related messages. However, as vehicles connected to internet, it makes them accessible globally to a potential adversary. Safety-related application requires a message to be reliable, however it may intrude the privacy of a vehicle. Contrarily, if some misbehaviour emerges, the malicious vehicles must be able to traceable and revoke from the network. This is a contradiction between privacy and accountability since the privacy of a user should be preserved. For a secure communication among intelligent entities, we propose a novel announcement protocol in IoV using group signature. To the best of our knowledge, our work is the first comprehensive construction of an announcement protocol in IoV that deploys group signature. We show that our protocol efficiently solves these conflicting security requirements of message reliability, privacy and accountability using 5G communication channel. The performance analysis and simulation results signify our work achieves performance efficiency in IoV communication.

차량과 노변장치의 통신에서 처리율 향상을 위한 전송 스케줄링 방안 (RSU scheduling method to improve service ratio in vehicle-to-RSU communication)

  • Recently, people have been interested in new intelligent transport system (ITS) architecture, so that vehicular networks are becoming an attractive research area. When vehicles try to access data through a roadside unit (RSU), data scheduling of RSU needs to improve service ratio due to limited bandwidth and service time. In this paper, we propose a service scheduling algorithm based on transmission delays and service deadlines of vehicles in order to improve the service ratio. In our algorithm, we assume the promiscuous operation of wireless nodes and it can make a single transmission of RSU serve multiple requests. We evaluated the performance of our scheme via simulations, and results show that our schemes have better performance than existing algorithms.

A Study on Intelligent Railway Level Crossing System for Accident Prevention

  • Accidents at level crossing have large portion on train accidents, and causes economical loss by train delay and operational interruption. Various safety equipments are employed to reduce the accident at level crossing, but existing warning device, and crossing barrier are simple train-oriented protection equipments. In this paper, intelligent railway level crossing system is proposed to prevent and reduce accidents. For train driver's prompt action, image of level crossing and obstacle warning message are continuously provided to train driver through wireless communication in level crossing control zone. Obstacle warning messages, which are extracted by computer vision processing of captured image at level crossing, are recognized by train driver through message color, flickering and warning sound. It helps train driver to decide how to take an action. Meanwhile, for vehicle driver's attention, location and speed of approaching train are given to roadside equipments. We identified the effect of proposed system through test installation at Sea train and Airport level crossing of Yeong-dong line.

  • An automatic vehicle location tracing system is to build GIS server and on transmission for providing service in various ways by collecting a GPS location information from each vehicle. It is to save GPS data from OBU built-in on the vehicle and transmit the GPS data using the RSU on the roadside and WAVE communication technology. The collected data from the RSU is transmitted to the GIS server and stored in DB(database) and based on the GPS data that was collected from the each vehicle the system is to provide user service to suit the applications so it is to provide various services between RSU and OBU. In this paper, by implementing a multi-session process between the RM and the RMA a variety of services between RSU and OBU are provided. In addition, the system is designed and implemented using GPS to provide a variety of services, for the services provided from each RMA by configuring them as an independent session so it enables a variety of services implemented from one of RSU. With the result of the comparative analysis on the multi-session processing and single-session processing it shows that the differenes of them are minor in repect of the data loss rate and the data transfer rate but various services can be provided.

An Edge Enabled Region-oriented DAG-based Distributed Ledger System for Secure V2X Communication

  • In the upcoming era of transportation, a groundbreaking technology, known as vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication, is poised to redefine our driving experience and revolutionize traffic management. Real-time and secure communication plays a pivotal role in V2X networks, with the decision-making process being a key factor in establishing communication and determining malicious nodes. The proposed framework utilizes a directed acyclic graph (DAG) to facilitate real-time processing and expedite decision-making. This innovative approach ensures seamless connectivity among vehicles, the surrounding infrastructure, and various entities. To enhance communication efficiency, the entire roadside unit (RSU) region can be subdivided into various sub-regions, allowing RSUs to monitor and govern each sub-region. This strategic approach significantly reduces transaction approval time, thereby improving real-time communication. The framework incorporates a consensus mechanism to ensure robust security, even in the presence of malicious nodes. Recognizing the dynamic nature of V2X networks, the addition and removal of nodes are aligned. Communication latency is minimized through the deployment of computational resources near the data source and leveraging edge computing. This feature provides invaluable recommendations during critical situations that demand swift decision-making. The proposed architecture is further validated using the "veins" simulation tool. Simulation results demonstrate a remarkable success rate exceeding 95%, coupled with a significantly reduced consensus time compared to prevailing methodologies. This comprehensive approach not only addresses the evolving requirements of secure V2X communication but also substantiates practical success through simulation, laying the foundation for a transformative era in transportation.

철도건널목 사고방지를 위한 방안 연구 (Accident Prevention Technology at a Level Crossing)

  • The safety equipments of railway level crossing which are installed at intersections between roads and railway lines prevent level crossing accidents by informing all of the vehicles and pedestrians of approaching trains. The intelligent safety system for level crossing which employs information and communication technology has been developed in USA and Japan, etc. But, in Korea, the relevant research has not been performed. In this paper, we analyze the cause of railway level crossing accidents and the inherent problem of the existing safety equipments. Based on analyzed results, we design the intelligent safety system which prevent collision between a train and a vehicle. This system displays train approaching information in real-time at roadside warning devices, informs approaching train of the detected obstacle in crossing areas, and is interconnected with traffic signal to empty the crossing area before train comes. Especially, we present the video based obstacle detection algorithm and verify its performance with prototype H/W since the abrupt obstacles in crossing areas are the main cause of level crossing accidents. We identify that the presented scheme detects both pedestrian and vehicle with good performance.

DSRC 시스템에서 릴레이 프로토콜 (Relay Protocol in DSRC System)

  • DSRC(Dedicated Short Range Communications : 근거리 전용 무선통신)는 차량의 고속 이동시에 차량과 기지국 사이 근거리 통신영역 내에서 무선으로 접속하여 텔레매틱스 서비스를 제공하고 교통정보 수집에 활용이 가능하다. 현재 DSRC는 5.8GHz의 주파수 대역을 사용하고 있으나 전파 자체의 직진성이 우수하기 때문에 앞에 장애물이나 다른 차량이 존재하는 경우 가시선 확보의 어려움이 발생하고 이로 인해 음영 현상과 통신 장애가 발생할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 DSRC 문제점 중에 하나인 가시선 방해로 인한 음영현상을 해결하고 통신율을 높이기 위한 방안으로 현재 실제로 적용되고 있는 TTA의 DSRC 표준방식인 '5.8GHz 대역 노변기지국과 차량단말기 사이의 근거리전용 무선통신 표준'의 프로토콜을 알아보고, 릴레이 프로토콜(relay Protocol)의 통신 과정과 릴레이 프로토콜의 구조를 제안한다. 제안된 릴레이 프로토콜을 DSRC 시스템과 차량간 통신에 응용하여 고정 릴레이 프로토콜과 이동 릴레이 프로토콜을 고려한다. 릴레이 프로토콜은 추후에 DSRC를 이용한 차량간 통신으로까지 적용되어 차량 운전자간의 화상통화나 차량간의 안전거리 확보를 통한 사고 방지 등에 효과적으로 응용되리라 예상된다.

델파이 기법을 적용한 자율주행시대 도로 설계 및 운영 변화 방향 연구 (A Study on the Changes of Road Design and Operation in the Age of Autonomous Driving, Using Delphi Technique)

  • 본 연구는 Lv.4/4+ 자율주행 시대에 도로 설계, 운영, 시스템의 변화 방향을 분석하기 위해 도로, 교통, 자동차, ITS, 통신 분야의 전문가들을 대상으로 2차에 걸쳐 델파이 조사를 수행하였다. 델파이 조사 항목을 구성하기 위해 기초 설문조사를 진행하였으며, 자율주행과 밀접한 관련이 있는 분야의 전문가 14명을 대상으로 1차, 2차 델파이 조사를 진행하였다. 조사 결과 미래에는 공유형 AV, 대중교통 환승 중심의 교통운영으로 변경될 것으로 예상되며, 이에 따른 횡단구성의 변경이 있을 것으로 보여진다. 자율주행전용차로는 고속도로, 일반국도부터 도입이 예상되며, 도로 가측부가 아닌 도로 중앙부에 설치되고 기존 도로와 동일한 차로폭을 사용할 것으로 의견이 모아졌다. 자율주행자동차를 위해 시설물 측면에서는 보차분리시설의 확충이 필요하며, 위치 인식을 위한 시설물에 통신칩 삽입, 정밀지도 고도화, 노변통신시설 확충 등이 필요한 것으로 나타났다.
