  • This paper presents a control method for the experimental mobile vehicle. By merging the advantages of neural network, adaptive and fuzzy control, neural network-based adaptive fuzzy control is proposed. It can deal with a large amount of training data by neural network, from these data producing more accurate fuzzy rules by adaptive control, and then controlling the object by fuzzy control. This is not the simple combination of the three methods, but merging them into one control system Experiments and some future considerations are given.

  • In this paper a platoon merging control system is considered as a remotely located system with state represented by a stochastic process. in the system it is common to encounter situations where a single decision maker controls a large number of subsystems and observation and control signals are sent over a communication channel with finite capacity and significant transmission delays. Unlike a classical estimation problem where the observation is a continuous process corrupted by additive noise there is a constraint that the observation must be coded and transmitted over a digital communication channel with fintie capacity. A recursive coder-estimator sequence is a state estimation scheme based on observations transmitted with finite communication capacity constraint. in this paper we introduce a stochastic model for the lead vehicle in a platoon of vehicles in a lane considering the angle between the road surface and a horizontal plane as a stochastic process. In order to merge two platoons the lead vehicle of the following platoon is controlled by a remote control station. Using the observation transmitted over communication channel the remote control station designs the feedback controller. The simulation results show that the intervehicle spacings and the deviations from the desired intervehicle spacing are well regulated.

UGV의 운용적합성 평가를 위한 운용 시험 시나리오 연구 (Study on the Operational Test Scenarios for Assessment of Unmanned Ground Vehicle's Operation Suitability)

  • This paper develops scenarios to evaluate the safety performance of Unmanned Ground Vehicle on military circumstances. The scenarios were created using Pegasus Project 6-layer format. These scenarios consist of straight road, curved road, merging road and crossroad. We adapt these scenarios to unpaved road. The characteristics of unpaved roads were divided into roughness, friction coefficient and road frequency. This adaption is validated via computer simulation. We observe the scan lines of vehicle become tangled of the straight road that make the cognitive abilities of the vehicle low and the lane-keeping is unable when vehicles entering curved off-roads over 40 km/h. The developed scenarios will contribute to enhancing stability from the perspective of introducing autonomous driving technology to Korean military.

비동기식 PRT 차량의 주행제어 알고리즘 (An Algorithm for the Asynchronous PRT Vehicle Control System)

  • A PRT vehicle's control method is presented in this paper. In the asynchronous vehicle control system, vehicles follow their leading vehicles. Leading vehicles are defined differently among the different types of track. The main topic of this paper is to present a method to define the leading vehicle among different types of track and the calculation algorithm of the safety length the following vehicle must maintain. Simulation program is developed using the algorithm and the results of the test run are presented. An asynchronous PRT vehicle control algorithm was presented by Szillat in the paper "A low level PRT Microsimulation, Dissertation, University of Bristol, 2001". But it is different from the algorithm in this paper. In the algorithm proposed by Markus, vehicles in the merging track are controlled synchronously, and its safety distance between the leading and the following car is evaluated after the establishment of the complicated future time-location table instead of simple equations proposed in this paper.

  • Selecting locally optimum thresholds, based on optimizing a criterion composed of the area variation rate and the compactness of the segmented shape, is presented. The method is shown to have the shape-resolving property in the subtraction image, so that overlapped objects may be resolved into bright and dark evidences characterizing each object. As an application a vehicle detection algorithm robust to the operating conditions could be realized by applying simple merging rules to the geometrically correlated bright and dark evidences obtained by this local thresholding.

  • The advanced information and communication technology gives vehicles another role of the third digital space, merging a physical space with a virtual space in a ubiquitous society. In the ubiquitous environment, the vehicle becomes a sensor node, which has a computing and communication capability in the digital space of wired and wireless network. An intelligent vehicle information system with a remote control and diagnosis is one of the future vehicle systems that we can expect in the ubiquitous environment. However, for the intelligent vehicle system, many issues such as vehicle mobility, in-vehicle communication, service platform and network convergence should be resolved. In this paper, an in-vehicle gateway is presented for an intelligent vehicle information system to make an access to heterogeneous networks. It gives an access to the server systems on the internet via CDMA-based hierarchical module architecture. Some experiments was made to find out how long it takes to communicate between a vehicle's intelligent information system and an external server in the various environment. The results show that the average response time amounts to 776ms at fixec place, 707ms at rural area and 910ms at urban area.

3축 자기장 센서 및 관성센서를 이용한 차량 방위각 추정 방법 (Vehicle Orientation Estimation by Using Magnetometer and Inertial Sensors)

  • The vehicle attitude and sideslip is critical information to control the vehicle to prevent from unintended motion. Many of estimation strategy use bicycle model or IMU integration, but both of them have limits on application. The main purpose of this paper is development of vehicle orientation estimator which is robust to various vehicle state and road shape. The suggested estimator use 3-axis magnetometer, yaw rate sensor and lateral acceleration sensor to estimate three Euler angles of vehicle. The estimator is composed of two individual observers: First, comparing the known magnetic field and gravity with measured value, the TRIAD algorithm calculates optimal rotational matrix when vehicle is in static or quasi-static condition. Next, merging 3-axis magnetometer with inertial sensors, the extended Kalman filter is used to estimate vehicle orientation under dynamic condition. A validation through simulation tools, Carsim and Simulink, is performed and the results show the feasibility of the suggested estimation method.

영역정보를 이용한 교통 혼잡도 측정 시스템의 설계 및 구현 (Design and Implemtation of a Road Congestion Analysis System using Regional Information)

  • 본 논문에서는 차량 영역의 추출을 이용한 효율적인 교통 혼잡도 측정 시스템을 설계하고 구현한다. 차량 영역 정보의 추출은 첫째 영역 분할, 둘째 작은 영역의 제거와 영역의 직사각형화, 셋째 영역의 병합 및 삭제의 단계로 나눌 수 있다. 영역 분할 단계에서는 획득한 도로 영상을 영역 기반 영역 분할에 의해 영역으로 분할한다. 그 다음 영역 분할 후의 영역 정보 중 차량 영역을 추출하는데 영향을 미치지 않는 작은 영역들을 제거하고, 남은 영역들을 직사각형화한다. 마지막으로 차선 별로 남은 영역들을 병합, 삭제함으로써 각 차선마다 차량 영역 정보를 추출할 수 있다. 이러한 방법은 배경 영상과 같은 부가적인 정보를 사용하지 않고 도로 자체 영상만으로 교통 혼잡도를 측정할 수 있으며, 그림자의 영향이 없을 경우 적용할 수 있는 기법이다.Abstract In this paper, we designed and implemented an efficient road congestion analysis system using regional information. To extract vehicle regions from a road image, the system process the image in five steps: segmentation, small region elimination, region rectangularization, region merging and region deletion. First, we segment road image by a threshold value. Then, we eliminate useless small regions to extract vehicle region, and perform region rectangularization. Finally, we extract vehicle region of each lane of the road by region merging and deletion. This method has the advantage of measuring road congestion without additional information such as background images. But this method must be applied to road images without shadow.

High Accuracy Vision-Based Positioning Method at an Intersection

  • This paper illustrates a vision-based vehicle positioning method at an intersection to support the C-ITS. It removes the minor shadow that causes the merging problem by simply eliminating the fractional parts of a quotient image. In order to separate the occlusion, it firstly performs the distance transform to analyze the contents of the single foreground object to find seeds, each of which represents one vehicle. Then, it applies the watershed to find the natural border of two cars. In addition, a general vehicle model and the corresponding space estimation method are proposed. For performance evaluation, the corresponding ground truth data are read and compared with the vision-based detected data. In addition, two criteria, IOU and DEER, are defined to measure the accuracy of the extracted data. The evaluation result shows that the average value of IOU is 0.65 with the hit ratio of 97%. It also shows that the average value of DEER is 0.0467, which means the positioning error is 32.7 centimeters.

$M^2$ MAC(Message Merging): 수중음파통신 기반의 실시간 로봇 제어 시스템을 위한 MAC 프로토콜 ($M^2$ MAC: MAC protocol for Real Time Robot Control System based on Underwater Acoustic Communication)

  • 수중 음파 통신은 해양 데이터 수집, 해저 탐사 및 개발, 군사 전술 감시 등 다양한 분야에 활용 가능하다. 이와 같이 다양한 분야에 Autonomous Underwater Vehicle(AUV)나 Remotely Operated Vehicle(ROV)와 같은 수중 로봇을 이용한 로봇 제어 시스템 구축은 필수적이다. 본 논문에서는 수중 음파 센서 네트워크 구성에서 중요한 부분인 에너지 효율적인 면을 고려하는 동시에 실시간 로봇 제어 시스템 구축에 적합한 Message Merging MAC($M^2$-MAC) 프로토콜을 제안한다. 제안된 Media Access Control(MAC) 프로토콜에서는 미리 할당된 타임 슬롯에 따라 로봇 노드들로부터 데이터를 수신하고, 베이스 스테이션으로부터 전달받은 메시지들을 버퍼링 과정을 거쳐 하나의 MAC 프레임으로 생성한 후 클러스터 내 모든 로봇 노드들에게 브로드 캐스팅 하게 된다. 또한 새로운 노드 진입 및 탈퇴 시 Maintenance&Sleep(M&S) 구간을 통해 관련 절차가 이루어짐으로써 경쟁과 비경쟁 방식이 혼합된 복합형 MAC 프로토콜의 형태를 이룬다. 본 논문에서는 실시간 로봇 제어 시스템 구축에 중요한 요소인 종단 간 지연과 에너지 소모량에 관련된 수학적 분석 모델을 제시하고 기존의 MAC 프로토콜과 비교함으로써 성능의 우수성을 검증한다.
