  • This study aims to analyze the changes in the mechanical properties of woven fabrics(cotton, linen, wool, silk, and polyester) by bonding fusible interlinings with varying deniers(10D, 20D, and 30D) for a 3D virtual try-on system(one that a user to try garments through screens using Avatar) developed over the last decade. We experimented with four mechanical properties and thicknesses of twenty-three specimens of interlining bonded fabrics including face fabrics and interlinings by using the KES-FB-AUTO system. The results showed that the tensile property increased(LT and RT increased and WT decreased) as the denier of the interlining increased; however, the change was slight. In contrast, the bending and shear properties increased significantly as the denier of the interlining increased on both the warp and the weft. This showed evidence that the interlining gives the fabrics size stability. The compression property was slight changed as the tensile property varies depending on the fibers and the denier of interlining. As expected, the thickness increased by bonding the interlining as the denier of interlining increased. From these results, we conclude that 3D users need to reflect these changes of woven fabrics by bonding interlinings when they try screen fittings to accurately express the fabric reality of manufactured garment.

  • The load sharing ratio (${\alpha}_{pr}$) of piles is one of the most common problems in the preliminary design of piled raft foundations. A series of 3D numerical analysis are conducted so that special attentions are given to load sharing characteristics under varying conditions, such as pile configuration, pile diameter, pile length, raft thickness, and settlement level. Based on the 3D FE analysis, influencing factors on load sharing behavior of piled raft are investigated. As a result, it is shown that the load sharing ratio of piled raft decreases with increasing settlement level. The load sharing ratio is not only highly dependent on the system geometries of the foundation but also on the settlement level. Based on the results of parametric studies, the load sharing ratio is proposed as a function of the various influencing factors. In addition, the parametric analyses suggest that the load sharing ratios to minimize the differential settlement of piled raft are ranging from 15 to 48% for friction pile and from 15 to 54% for end-bearing pile. The recommendations can provide a basis for an optimum design that would be applicable to piled rafts taking into account the load sharing characteristics.

  • The rheological properties of highly concentrated Ag nano sol depending on particle size were studied. The Ag nano sol was prepared by reducing the Ag ion in aqueous solution. The size of Ag nano particle was controlled by two steps of nucleation and growth, and the thickness of adsorption layer was varied by molecular weight of polyelectrolytes. The polyelectrolytes acted as not only ionic complex agent in ionic state and but also dispersant after formation of Ag nano sol. The effective volume was controlled by combination of varying the molecular weight of polyelectrolytes and the size Ag nano sol. The particle size and the viscosity of nano sol were characterized by particle size analyzer, HR-TEM and cone & plate viscometer. It was found that the 10 nm and 40 nm-sized Ag nano sols were prepared by controlling the nucleation and growth steps, respectively. Finally, we could prepare highly concentrated Ag nano sol over 50 wt%.

  • Inchon International Airport Elevated Road Way is located between the Passenger Terminal Building and Transportaion Center which are Inchon International Airport core construction projects. The deck of the bridge is consists of 5-span or 6-span continuous pre-stressed concrete slab. Steel form has been used to enhance the quality of texture on concrete slab. Steel form has been used to enhance the quality of texture on concrete surface, lower surface of deck slab with the two way arch has been manufactured by highly professional manner in order to get an beautiful exterior architectural looks. The prestressed concrete deck slab is mass concrete structures with a high-specified concrete strength and a varying section in the range of 0.95-2.8m thickness. Therefore high risks of thermal cracking occurrence by heat of hydration highly are expected. To resolve such problem, we adopted type 1 cement and pipe cooking method at construction site through mass concrete specimen test and 3-dimensional analysis. For Pipe cooling we used 25mm diameter stainless pipes with wrinkles. Cooling pipe with spacing 50-60cm has been installed. And continuous pipe cooling with cooling water of 15$^{\circ}C$ was conducted for 2days. In present 8 span of all 29 spans construction has been completed. No thermal cracking heat hydration has been observed yet.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze lateral displacement behavior of clay layers in case of the banking in soft ground through model tests. Seven model tests varying with thickness of soft clay and loading velocity are performed to correlate between ground heaving and loading velocity. In case of low loading velocity, vertical settlement below loading plate and small ground heaving are obviously observed. In case of the high loading velocity, it is shown that both soil displacement at the end of a loading plate and surface heaving are large. In addition, the calculated displacements show good agreement with three cases of field measurements in clay with high moisture contents so that we can predict the range of heaving area and the amount of heaving.

  • Pile foundations constructed on extremely cold regions cause serviceability problems of superstructures from repeated actions of ground freezing and thawing. Oil sand module plants are mainly constructed on seasonal frozen ground. Due to the freezing and thawing actions of grounds, vertical movements of piles have been observed. To solve these erratic pile movement problems, thin vertical layer of PET aggregates is installed around the pile shaft to prevent potential unfavorable pile movements. There is no known method to calculate "thin PET aggregate layer" -surrounded pile shaft resistance (capacity) against vertical loads; therefore, this experimental research is conducted. Specifically, in this study, horizontal (normal) pressures on pile shaft were assessed varying PET aggregate layer thickness based on the experiment.

  • Glandular odontogenic cyst(GOC) is a rare cyst of odontogenic origin, first described in 1988 by Gardner et al. Three glandular odontogenic cysts are presented which were experienced in the Dept. of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery, Yonsei University. The clinical characteristics, radiologic and histopathologic features, and method of treatment are discussed. One occured in the anterior maxilla, others in the mandible body area. One in the anterior maxilla showed swelling and tenderness, others not. All the lesion presented radiographically unilocular radiolucent lesion. Histopathologically, those were lined by nonkeratinizing stratified squamous epithelium of varying thickness showing plaque-like or spherical thickening. Partially, eosinophilic cuboidal cells lined the intraepithelial microcysts. Also, ciliated cuboidal cells and mucinous cells were observed. The cysts were treated by enucleation.

  • Electrical and electromagnetic wave absorbing properties of MnZn ferrite-rubber composites have been examined for varying the volume fraction of ferrite powder from 0.1 to 0.4 in the frequency range between 1-10 GHz. As the volume fraction of MnZn ferrite increased, the complex permittivity and permeability of composite increased. The peak of reflection loss at the frequency corresponding to 1/4 wavelength shifts to lower frequency, and shifts to lower frequency as the thickness of absorber increased. We show that for the ferrite-rubber composites the volume fraction of ferrite should be controled to obtain the absorbing properties required in given frequency range.

  • This paper presents the results of fire resistance properties of high performance concrete varying with fiber kinds and the size of metal lath in order to verify the validities of fiber on the spatting resistance by fire. Metal lath, glass fiber and carbon fiber are used to confine the concrete. According to test results, plain concrete without lateral confinement and confined concrete with glass fiber and carbon fiber show entire failure after exposed to fire, while confined concrete with metal lath take place in the form of slight surface spatting by fire, which has favorable spatting resistance of concrete. As for the effect of the size of metal lath, when the size of metal lath is more than 1.2mm of thickness, the residual strength of concrete exposed to fire maintains more than 80% of its original strength. However, glass fiber and carbon fiber does not perform desirable spatting resistance by fire due to loss of lateral confinement of fiber exposed to fire caused by melting of fiber and reducing bond strength between concrete and fiber.

  • The extinction of premixed flames under the influence of stretch is studied numerically. A wide range of fuel (hydrogen, ethylene, acetylene, methane, propane and methanol) and air mixtures are established in an opposed jet and their flame properties such as flame speed, flame thickness, thermal diffusivity, and stretch rate at extinction are computed. Computations are made using several chemical kinetic mechanism (Smooke, Kee et al. and Peters). The major result is that, in contrast to the various previous claims of extinction Karlovitz number varying over three orders of magnitude, it is found to be constant around two for all of the mixtures tested. That is, premixed flames are extinguished when the physical flow time decreases (due to increased stretch rate) to the point where it approximately equals the chemical reaction time. Here the relevant chemical reaction time is not the one computed using the one-dimensional flame properties as originally suggested in the formulation of Karlovitz number, but rather it is the one obtained using the stretched flame properties which fully reflect the effect of straining on the flame structure.
