A permanent deformation model was developed in this study based on the shear properties of asphalt mixtures such as cohesion and friction angle. Triaxial compressive strength (TCS) and repeated load permanent deformation (RLPD) tests on the three types of asphalt mixtures are performed at various loading and temperature conditions to correlate shear properties of asphalt mixtures to rutting performance. It is observed from the tests results that the ratio of shear stress to strength accurately identifies the mixture rutting performance. It could take care of not only mixture types but also load and temperature conditions dependences. Three different versions of the permanent deformation model based on different input levels are proposed and verified using the tests data. The proposed model based on the ratio of shear stress to strength can successfully predict the permanent deformation of various asphalt mixtures all the way up to the 10% of permanent strain including all three stages of permanent deformation in a wide range of loading and temperature conditions without changing model coefficients.
A constant volume combustion chamber was used to investigate the combustion characteristics. of homogeneous charge of methane-air mixture under various initial pressure, equivalence ratio and ignition times. The constant volume combustion chamber(CVCC) mostly has been studied by the experiments of visualization until now. So it is needed the numerical analysis of fluid and combustion characteristics in chamber by the more detail simulation. In this paper, the numerical analysis is tried to approach basically the homogeneous charge combustion phenomena under the various conditions, and the combustion phenomena in chamber is numerically analyzed by the commercial FIRE code. As a results, the combustion phenomena which were mean temperature, OH radical and reaction rate in chamber were investigated and it showed that the smallest flame growth occurs for the lean state and the increase of initial charged pressure condition due to the reduced OH radical.
In an atempt to elucidate further physicochemical properties of furosemide-PVP coprecipitates, extensive investigations such as TLC, UV,IR, NMR, X-ray diffraction, TGA and DTA studies were carried out for the furosemide test systems. X-ray diffraction studies revealed that the pure furosemide and the furosemide contained within a physical mixture were crystalline in nature. However, there was no crystallinity evident in the 1:5 furosemide-PVP 40,000 coprecipitate system, even after standing for two years. The various ratio furosemide-PVP 40,000 coprecipitate systems revealed that the coprecipitate containing a greater amount of PVP 40,000 than that of furosemide showed a crystalline state of furosemide and that the minimum amounts of PVP to make amorphous form of furosemide was 1:1 ratio of furosemide to PVP. From the furosemide-PVP coprecipitate systems with PVP of different molecular weights of 10,000, 40,000 and 360,000, all the 1:1 ratio coprecipitates did not exhibit any crystallinity of furosemide, whereas all the 2:1 ratio coprecipitates showed a presence of crystalline furosemide. All the coprecipitated preparations with PEG 4,000 and with PEG 6,000 showed the diffraction peaks indicating the presence of crystalline furosemide. The comparison of infrared spectra of the physical mixture and the coprecipitate showed an interaction such as association between the functional groups of furosemide and PVP in the molecular level, whereas the studies by TLC, UV and NMR showed its dissociation in methanol solution. The weight losses in TGA curves showed all the same patterns. However, a little different transition form in DTA thermograms was shown between the physical mixture and the coprecipitate, indicating the different thermal property.
The object of this work is to analyze the macroscopic spray performance and atomization characteristics between diesel and biodiesel fuels. In this study, the effects of mixture ratios of biodiesel fuel on the spray tip penetration, fuel injection rate, spray cone angle, and the atomization characteristics such as droplet size, droplets distribution, and spray arrival time according to the axial distance were investigated at various injection parameters. It is revealed that the injection rate is more affected by injection pressure than mixture ratio. And, the spray development process is closely matched between diesel and biodiesel fuels. However, the droplet atomization characteristics of biodiesel shows deteriorated results as the mixture ratio of biodiesel increased because of the high viscosity and density.
We have investigated to observe the photoisomerization using the mixture solutions in chloroform and LB monolayers mixed with DPPA and BASH containing azobenzene group which has reversible to cis-trans by light irradiation.. Spreading solutions for the LB films were Prepared in chloroform($5.0{\times}10^{-5}mol/L$). We investigated the photoisomerization and property of the organic ultra thin film of fatty acid containing azobenzene was Prepared on the glass plate by LB method. As a result, the absorption spectra of 8A5H and DPPA mixture of LB films was induced to photoisomerization by alternating irradiation of ultraviolet and visible light, because the condensation of pure azobenzene monolayers was loosened by the introduction of phospholipid into the monolayers, and the molecular high aggregation in pure azobenzene monolayers is also weakened by the introduction of phospholipid. We found that it was reversibly induced to cis-trans photoisomerization in a various mixture molar ratio.

In urban areas, appropriate backfilling design is necessary to prevent surface subsidence and subsurface cavities after excavation. Expandable foam grout (EFG), a mixture of cement, water, and an admixture, can be used for cavity filling because of its high flowability and volume expansion. EFG volume expansion induces a porous structure that can be quantified by the entrapped air content. This study observed the unit weight variations in the EFG before and after expansion depending on the various admixture-cement and water-cement ratios. Subsequently, the air content before and after expansion and the gravimetric expansion ratios were estimated from the measured unit weights. The air content before expansion linearly increased with an increase in the admixture-cement ratio, resulting in a decrease in the unit weight. The air content after the expansion and the expansion ratio increased nonlinearly, and the curves stabilized at a relatively high admixture-cement ratio. In particular, a reduced water-cement ratio limits the air content generation and expansion ratio, primarily because of the short setting time, even at a high admixture-cement ratio. Based on the results, the relationship between the maximum expansion ratio of EFG and the mixture ingredients (water-cement and admixture-cement ratios) was introduced.
PURPOSES: The liquid-type chemical warm-mix asphalt (WMA) additive has been developed. This study evaluates the basic properties of the additive and the mechanical properties of WMA asphalt and mixture manufactured by using the newly developed chemical additive. METHODS: First, the newly developed WMA additive was applied to the original asphalt by various composition of additive components and dosage ratio of additive. These WMA asphalt binders were evaluated in terms of penetration, softening point, rotational viscosity, and PG grade. Based on the binder test results, one best candidate was chosen to apply to the mixture and then the mechanical properties of WMA mixture were evaluated for moisture susceptibility, dynamic modulus, and rutting and fatigue resistance. RESULTS : According to the binder test, WMA asphalt binders showed the similar properties to the original asphalt binder except the penetraion index of WMA additive was a little higher than original binder. From the Superpave mix design, the optimum asphalt content and volumetric properties of WMA mixture were almost the same with those of hot mix asphalt (HMA) mixture even though the production and compaction temperatures were $30^{\circ}C$ lower for the WMA mixture. From the first set of performance evaluation, it was found that the WMA mixture would have some problem in moisture susceptibility. The additive was modified to improve the resistance to moisture and the second set of performance evaluation showed that the WMA mixture with modified chemical additive would have the similar performance to HMA mixture. CONCLUSIONS : Based on the various laboratory tests, it was concluded that the newly developed chemical WMA additve could be successfully used to produce the WMA mixture with the comparable performance to the HMA mixture. These laboratory evaluations should be confirmed by applying this additive to the field and monitoring the long-term performance of the pavement, which are scheduled in the near future.
Since the early 1980s scholars have applied latent structure and other type of finite mixture models from various academic fields. Although the merits of finite mixture model are well documented, the attempt to apply the mixture model to medical service has been relatively rare. The researchers aim to try to fill this gap by introducing finite mixture model and segmenting inpatients DB from one general hospital. In section 2 finite mixture models are compared with clustering, chi-square analysis, and discriminant analysis based on Wedel and Kamakura(2000)'s segmentation methodology schemata. The mixture model shows the optimal segments number and fuzzy classification for each observation by EM(expectation-maximization algorism). The finite mixture model is to unfix the sample, to Identify the groups, and to estimate the parameters of the density function underlying the observed data within each group. In section 3 and 4 we illustrate results of segmenting 4510 patients data including menial and ratio scales. And then, we show AHP can be identify the attractiveness of each segment, in which the decision maker can select the best target segment.
