  • The feasibility of precision fertilizing for small size fields was studied by determining fertilizing amount of nitrogenous and calcareous to a cite specific region. A detailed soil survey at three experimental fields of $672m^2$, $300m^2$ and $140m^2$ revealed a considerable spatial variation of the pH and organic matter(OM) levels. Soil organic matter was measured using Walkley-Black method and soil pH was measured with a pH sensor. Soil sample was obtained by Grid Node Sampling Method. The soil sampling depth was 10∼20 cm from the soil surface. To display soil nutrient variation, a soil map was made using Geographic Information System (GIS) software. In soil mapping, soil data between nodes was interpolated using Inverse Distance Weighting (IDW) method. The variation was about 1∼1.8 in pH value and 1.4∼7% in OM content. Fertilizing Amount of nitrogenous and calcareous was determined by th fertilizing equation which was proposed by National Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology(NIAST). The variation of fertilizing amount was about 3∼11 kg/10a in nitrogenous and 70∼140 kg/10a in calcareous. The results showed a feasibility of precision fertilizing for small size fields.

  • This research is conducted to measure the efficiency level of Islamic banking in Indonesia and also to analyze the factors that can affect its efficiency level. This research used a purposive sampling technique to determine the sample size that will be used, with criteria that the bank has been operating since 2010 and consistently published its financial reports during the research period from 2011 until 2019; therefore, the total sample obtained was 11 samples. Analysis for efficiency level is done by using linear programming Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA), with test tool in the form of Frontier 4.1 and Eviews9 to find out what factors that affect efficiency. Efficiency test is done by involving input and output, while influence test used bank-specific variables comprising bank size, bank financial ratio, and macro-economy variable. Research result shows that there are only two banks that are almost close to being fully efficient firms, but the result still does not indicate that Islamic bank works efficiently. Results of the influence test show that factors affecting Islamic banking efficiency in Indonesia are bank size, Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Non-Performing Finance (NPF), and Financing to Deposit Ratio (FDR), while other factors are not influential over the study period.

  • This paper proposes an adaptive moving average (A-MA) control chart with variable sampling intervals (VSI) for detecting shifts in the process mean. The basic idea of the VSI A-MA chart is to adjust sampling intervals as well as to accumulate previous samples selectively in order to increase the sensitivity. The VSI A-MA chart employs a threshold limit to determine whether or not to increase sampling rate as well as to accumulate previous samples. If a standardized control statistic falls outside the threshold limit, the next sample is taken with higher sampling rate and is accumulated to calculate the next control statistic. If the control statistic falls within the threshold limit, the next sample is taken with lower sampling rate and only the sample is used to get the control statistic. The VSI A-MA chart produces an 'out-of-control' signal either when any control statistic falls outside the control limit or when L-consecutive control statistics fall outside the threshold limit. The control length L is introduced to prevent small mean shifts from being undetected for a long period. A Markov chain model is employed to investigate the VSI A-MA sampling process. Formulae related to the steady state average time-to signal (ATS) for an in-control state and out-of-control state are derived in closed forms. A statistical design procedure for the VSI A-MA chart is proposed. Comparative studies show that the proposed VSI A-MA chart is uniformly superior to the adaptive Cumulative sum (CUSUM) chart and to the Exponentially Weighted Moving Average (EWMA) chart, and is comparable to the variable sampling size (VSS) VSI EWMA chart with respect to the ATS performance.

  • The purpose of this study was to observe premium handbag users who are 20 to 30 year old of age, to determine purchase behavior and design preference of handbags by lifestyle and age variable to help market segmentation. A survey instrument was used. A sample was selected by quota sampling method from 20 to 30 aged Korean women, and reliable 538 data were analyzed by SPSS. Cluster type towards lifestyle and age were independent variable. There are two types of lifestyle clusters toward luxury handbags; Strongly favored and weakly favored group toward luxury handbags. Strongly favored group of luxury goods considered more brand, country of origin, and trend, while young people considered more new arrival of design in purchase of products. Preferred design type of hand bag was statistically associated with age variable. 20s consumers preferred shopper bag style and big size of handbags. Leather was preferred by the group of the strongly favored luxury goods. Through this research finding, we hope handbag brand market segmentation will be based on lifestyle and age variable to reflect customer's demand.

  • This paper propose two test statistics which enable us to proceed the variable selection in Fisher's linear discriminant function for the case of heterogeneous discrimination with equal training sample size. Simultaneous confidence intervals associated with the test are also given. These are exact and approximate results. The latter is based upon an approximation of a linear sum of Wishart distributions with unequal scale matrices. Using simulated sampling experiments, powers of the two tests have been tabulated, and power comparisons have been made between them.

  • In this paper an important stability property of the extremes under power normalizations is discussed. It is proved that the restricted convergence of the Power normalized extremes on an arbitrary nondegenerate interval implies the weak convergence. Moreover, this implication, in an important practical situation, is obtained when the sample size is considered as a random variable distributed geometrically with mean n.

  • A basic assumption in standard applications of control charts is that the observations are statistically independent. However, this assumption is often violated from processes in many industries. The presence of autocorrelation has a serious impact on the performance of control charts, causing a dramatic increase in the frequency of false alarms. This paper considers a process in which the observations can be modeled as a first order autoregressive(AR(1)) process, and develops (equation omitted) charts with the variable sample size(VSS) scheme for monitoring the mean of this process.

  • Knowing the time of the process change could lead to quicker identification of the responsible special cause and less process down time, and it could help to reduce the probability of incorrectly identifying the special cause. In this paper, we propose a generalized maximum likelihood estimate. (MLE) of the process change point when a control chart with variable sample size (VSS) scheme signals a change in the process mean, and evaluate the performance of this estimator when it mi used with a VSS EWMA chart.

  • Let (X, Y) be a pair random variables and let f denote the regression function of the response Y on the measurement variable X. Let K(f) denote a derivative of f. The least squares method is used to obtain a tensor spline estimator $\hat{f}$ of f based on a random sample of size n from the distribution of (X, Y). Under some mild conditions, it is shown that $K(\hat{f})$ achieves the optimal rate of convergence for the estimation of K(f) in $L_2$ and $L_{\infty}$ norms.

  • Trust has been identified as a key component in many e-Commerce studies. The purpose of this study is to find out which factors play a major role in building trust and how the built-up trust affect consumer's purchase intention in Internet used-car transactions. Based on the information asymmetry, TAM(Technology Acceptance Model), and the trust theory, our research model includes factors such as a buyer's propensity-to-trust, institutional characteristics(inspection and warranty policy), word-of-mouth referral, perceived size, and perceived benefits as independent variables. The model also includes trust as a mediate variable, intention to purchase as a dependent variable and perceived quality risk as a moderate variable. The research model is tested by analyzing 787 sample data gathered from Internet used-car transaction sites. The result shows that the trust has significant effects on the online purchase intention, and institutional characteristics has been identified as the most significant factor for the trust of Internet used-car sites. The independent factors influencing trust vary depending on the level of perceived quality risk. For users who perceive the quality risk low, the perceived benefits explain a little portion of the purchase intention. However, those who perceive quality risk high would purchase used-cars only when they have trust on the Internet sites, indicating that trust play an important role as a mediate variable. This study suggests that enhancing the trust in Internet used-car sites is important to increase online transactions.
