  • The vane type air-motor hand-piece is used widely in the dental services. There are a lot of experimental studies about air-motor but eccentrically off not many numerical studies by using Computational Fluid Dynamics. An air-motor has rotor which rotates at the center of inner housing. The retractable vanes are installed on the rotor. As the rotor of the air-motor rotates, vanes move up and down straightly in the radial direction along the guide. Therefore we have to analyze the unsteady flow field by accurate time dependent marching technique. ANSYS 12.0 CFX is used to analyze unsteady vane-motor flow field Analysis of the changing control volume inside air-motor is implemented by user-defined functions and moving mesh options. Rotational speed of the rotor is approximately 23,000rpm.

  • It is well known that pneumatic motors convert fluid power into mechanical power with a low efficiency. The Value of the efficiency depends on several factors, of which the most important are ; type of motor, speed, supply pressure, sie and geometry of the motor. This paper presents an analytical and experimental study of the performance of he vane type pneumatic motors. This investigation deals with all the pneumatic motors. This investigation deals with all the major aspects of the air flow through a vane type pneumatic motor and pints out which are the main causes of the low efficiency of the motor, and therefore indicates which changes in a motor design an lead to optimum performance.

  • The air-motor unit of the hand-piece had not been developed inside of the country yet. Therefore it needs some research works. The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of the many mini holes at the outle of the air-motort. The flow fields analysis has been conducted by the immersed solid method using ANSYS 12.0 CFX.

  • Imported vane type air motor and-piece is used widely in the domestic dental services. The imported hand-pieces are more than 90 percent in the domestic market. The air-motor unit of the hand-piece had not been developed inside of the country yet. Therefore it needs some research works. Purpose of this study is to design the air motor of the hand-piece for better performance. The geometry of the air-motor is based on product of NSK Company. The airflow of the air motor unit is simulated by Computational Fluid Dynamics. The performance analysis of the air motor units is investigated. ANSYS 12.0 CFX is used to analysis of the flowfield. Torque changes depends on spin calculated by the immersed solid method.
