Aloe gel microcapsule was prepared by dehydrating dispersed aloe gel droplets in the form of W/O emulsion using a vacuum evaporator. The microcapsules remained in stable suspensions after washing with mineral oil and had a homogeneous spherical structure with diameter less than 6.4 ${\mu}m$. The microcapsule suspension in mineral oil (> 41%) exhibited a step increase in viscosity and shear-thinning but not showed thixotropic behavior with a yield stress higher than 300 Pa. The dense suspension appeared to be semi-solid as the microcapsule fraction increases and to be stable after heat treatment at $105^{\circ}C$ for 15 min. In conclusion, the dense suspension composed of gel microcapsules is expected to provide a basic cosmetic formulation that can be applied to develop various types of aloe gel cosmetic products.
Inner crack-like pores with controlled amount of Ca impurity level in the high purity alumina single crystal sapphire had been created by micro-fabrication technique which includes ion implantation photo-lithography Ar ion milling and hot press technique. The morphological change and the healing of crack-like pore in the Ca doped high purity single crystal alumina during high temperature heat treatment in vacuum were observed using optical microscopy. The hexagonal bridging ligaments were developed and the size of hexagonal bridging ligaments had been increased with temperature and Ca amount and had grown to their corner rounded. It appeared that the hexagonal bridging ligaments would have an equilbrium size with temperature and the amount of Ca addition. Three kinds of crack-like pore healing type were observed. Edge regression and ligament growth were observed from relatively low temperature in the crack-like pore. Edge regression were found in almost all of the crack-like pore but the ligament growth were found only in the several crack-like pores accelerating heating very fast. Flow type healing was observed above $1800^{\circ}C$ and It healed the crack-like pore very slowly.

In this study, fractured surface morphology and mechanical properties of Ni-Cr-Mo alloys with various contents of Mo for dental material use have been evaluated by mechanical test. The alloys used were Ni-13Cr-xMo alloys with Mo contents of 4, 6, 8, and 10 wt.%, prepared by using a vacuum arc-melting furnace. Ni-13Cr-xMo alloys were used for mechanical test without heat treatment. The phase and microstructure of alloys using an X-ray diffraction (XRD) and optical microscopy (OM) were evaluated. To examine the mechanical properties of alloys according to microstructure changes, the tensile test and the hardness test were carried out using tensile tester. To understand the mechanism of Mo addition to Ni-Cr alloy on mechanical property, the morphology and fractured surfaces of alloys were investigated by field-emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM). As a result, 79Ni-13Cr-8Mo alloy was verified that the tensile strength and the hardness were better than others. Varying Mo content, the changes of microstructures of alloys were identified by OM and SEM and that of 79Ni-13Cr-8Mo alloy was proved fabricated well. Microstructures of alloys were changed depending on Mo content ratio. It has been observed that 8% alloy had the most suitable mechanical property for dental alloy.
Recently, automobile parts have been required to have high strength and toughness to allow for weight lightening or improved stability. But, traditional micro-alloyed steel cannot be applied in automobile parts. In this study, we considered the influence of quenching temperature and cooling rate for specimens fabricated by vacuum induction furnace. Directly quenched micro-alloyed steel for hot forging can be controlled according to its micro structure and the heat-treatment process. Low carbon steel, as well as alloying elements for improvement of strength and toughness, was used to obtain optimized conditions. After hot forging at $1,200^{\circ}C$, the ideal mechanical properties (tensile strength ${\geq}$ 1,000 MPa, Charpy impact value ${\geq}\;100\;J/cm^2$) can be achieved by using optimized conditions (quenching temperature : 925 to $1,050^{\circ}C$, cooling rate : ${\geq}\;5^{\circ}C/sec$). The difference of impact value according to cooling rate can be influenced by the microstructure. A fine lath martensite micro structure is formed at a cooling rate of over $5^{\circ}C/sec$. On the other hand, the second phase of the M-A constituent microstructure is the cause of crack initiation under the cooling rate of $5^{\circ}C/sec$.
Prussian blue analogues(PBAs) are comprised of cyano-bridged transition metal ions. The wide and unique open-framework structures of the PBAs enable reversible intercalation and deintercalation of various ions such as $Na^+$, $K^+$, $Mg^{2+}$, $Zn^{2+}$, etc. In addition, since PBAs are synthesized through coprecipitation reaction in aqueous solution at room temperature, they are produced economically and environmentally friendly. However, the formation of crystals proceeds rapidly, and defects such as vacancy and crystal water tend to be present in the crystals, thereby affecting key battery performance. Therefore, significant efforts to inhibit defects in PBAs have been made. In the case of vacancy, the reaction rate was controlled at the synthesis stage to reduce the formation of vacancy, and the crystal water was removed by heat treatment under vacuum. In addition, by adding transition metals that do not react within the structure of PBA, the structural instability during the electrochemical reaction was largely alleviated.
Ferromagnetic Mn-Al nanoparticles were prepared using a plasma arc discharge method. The influence of the process parameters on the vaporization rate, composition, particle size, and magnetic properties of the as-produced nanoparticles was investigated. The Mn content was found to be higher in the nanoparticles than in the corresponding mother materials, although the difference diminished with the reaction time. As the $H_2$ content in the reaction gas increased, both the vaporization rate and the particle size increased. With 30 at.% Mn, the average particle diameter was 35.2 nm under a pure Ar gas condition, whereas it was 95.4 nm at a Ar:$H_2$ ratio of 60:40. With the addition of a small amount of carbon, ${\varepsilon}$-phase nanoparticles were successfully synthesized. After a heat treatment in a vacuum for 30 min at $500^{\circ}C$, the nonmagnetic ${\varepsilon}$-phase was transformed into the ferromagnetic ${\tau}$-phase, and a very high coercivity of nearly 5.6 kOe was achieved.
Effects of growth variables and post-growth annealing on the optical, structural and electrical properties of magnetron-sputtered Ga0.04Mg0.10Zn0.86O films are characterized in detail. It is observed that films grown from pure oxygen plasma showed high resistivity, ~102 Ω·cm, whereas films grown in Ar plasma showed much lower resistivity, 2.0 × 10-2 ~ 1.0 × 10-1 Ω·cm. Post-growth annealing significantly improved the electrical resistivity, to 4.3 ~ 9.0 × 10-3 Ω·cm for the vacuum annealed samples and to 1.3 ~ 3.0 × 10-3 Ω·cm for the films annealed in Zn vapor. It is proposed that these phenomena may be attributed to the improved crystalline quality and to changes in the defect chemistry. It is suggested that growth within oxygen environments leads to suppression of oxygen vacancy (Vo) donors and formation of Zn vacancy (VZn) acceptors, resulting in highly resistive films. After annealing treatment, the activation of Ga donors is enhanced, Vo donors are annihilated, and crystalline quality is improved, increasing the electron mobility and the concentration. After annealing in Zn vapor, Zn interstitial donors are introduced, further increasing the electron concentration.

In the case of a die-casting process, defects that are difficult to confirm by visual inspection, such as shrinkage bubbles, may occur due to an error in maintaining a vacuum state. Since these casting defects are discovered during post-processing operations such as heat treatment or finishing work, they cannot be taken in advance at the casting time, which can cause a large number of defects. In this study, we propose an approach that can predict the occurrence of casting defects by defect type using machine learning technology based on casting parameter data collected from equipment in the die casting process in real time. Die-casting parameter data can basically be collected through the casting equipment controller. In order to perform classification analysis for predicting defects by defect type, labeling of casting parameters must be performed. In this study, first, the defective data set is separated by performing the primary clustering based on the total defect rate obtained during the post-processing. Second, the secondary cluster analysis is performed using the defect rate by type for the separated defect data set, and the labeling task is performed by defect type using the cluster analysis result. Finally, a classification learning model is created by collecting the entire labeled data set, and a real-time monitoring system for defect prediction using LabView and Python was implemented. When a defect is predicted, notification is performed so that the operator can cope with it, such as displaying on the monitoring screen and alarm notification.
We investigated the structural, electrical and optical characteristics of thin films with ITO deposited by a low temperature RF reactive magnetron sputtering. The deposited thin films were annealed for 2 hours at various temperatures of $50^{\circ}C$, $100^{\circ}C$, $150^{\circ}C$, $200^{\circ}C$ and $250^{\circ}C$ and were analyzed by using X-ray diffractometer, scanning electron microscopy and 4 point probe. The films annealed at temperatures higher than $150^{\circ}C$ were found to be crystallized and their electrical resistance were decreased from $40{\Omega}cm$to $18{\Omega}cm$. The optical transmittance of the film annealed at $150^{\circ}C$ was increased by over 87% in the 450 nm ~ 900 nm wavelength range. Our results indicate that the films with ITO deposited at even a low temperature can show better optical and electrical properties through a proper heat treatment.

The fluorescent proteins are generally denatured by heat treatment and thus lose their color. The normal reeling method includes processing by drying and cooking the cocoons near $100^{\circ}C$ before reeling. Therefore, the usual processing method cannot be used for making colored fluorescent silks. To develop a method that is applicable to producing transgenic silk without color loss, we develop reeling methods adequate for a recombinant fluorescence cocoons. It was found that the fluorescence cocoons keep their native color when dried at temperatures lower than $60^{\circ}C$ for 15 h. Also, a new cooking method to soften the fluorescent cocoons was developed: the cocoons were soaked in a solution of 0.2% sodium carbonate ($Na_2CO_3$)/0.1% nonionic surfactant (Triton X100) at $60^{\circ}C$ and then placed under vacuum. The repeated vacuum treatments enabled complete penetration of the solution into the cocoons, and the cocoons were thus homogenously softened and ready for reeling. In this state, the cooked cocoons can be reeled by an automated reeling machine. Our results suggest that drying and cooking of the cocoons at low temperature enables the subsequent reeling of the colored fluorescent silks by an automatic reeling machine without color loss and can produce silks that can be used for making higher value-added silk materials.
