Patterning with a geodesic line is essential for economical or efficient usage of membrane materialsin fabric tension membrane structural engineering and analysis. The numerical algorithm to determine the geodesic line for membrane structures is generally classified into two. The first algorithm finds a non-linear shape using a fictitious geodesic element with an initial pre-stress, and the other algorithm is the geodesic line cutting or searching algorithm for arbitrarily curved 3D surface shapes. These two algorithms are still being used only for the three-node plane stress membrane element, and not for the four-node element. The lack of a numerical algorithm for geodesic lines with four-node membrane elements is the main reason for the infrequent use of the four-node membrane element in membrane structural engineering and design. In this paper, a modified numerical algorithm is proposed for the generation of a geodesic line that can be applied to three- or four-node elements at the same time. The explicit non-linear static Dynamic Relaxation Method (DRM) was applied to the non-linear geodesic shape-finding analysis by introducing the fictitiously tensioned 'strings' along the desired seams with the three- or four-node membrane element. The proposed algorithm was used for the numerical example for the non-linear geodesic shape-finding and patterning analysis to demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency, and thus, the potential, of the algorithm. The proposed geodesic shape-finding algorithm may improve the applicability of the four-node membrane element for membrane structural engineering and design analysis simultaneously in terms of the shape-finding analysis, the stress analysis, and the patterning analysis.

Objectives : With recent improvements in neuroimaging and the development of third and fourth-generation radiosurgical dose-planning soft ware, came a renewed interest in using radiosurgery for the treatment of movement disorders. Radiosurgery involves no opening of the cranium and no incisions, eliminating both the risk of hemorrhage from passing an electrode to the depths of meningitis from operative infection. It is for these reasons stereotactic radiosurgical treatment of movement disorders has value in a small subgroup of patients. The authors report four cases of Parkinson's disease and one case of dystonia that were treated by Gamma knife. Methods : Radiosurgical nucleus ventralis intermedius thalamotomy using the gamma knife unit was performed to make lesion in two Parkinson's disease patients. A radiation dose of 120Gy was delivered to nucleus using a single 4-mm collimator plug pattern following classic anatomical landmarks. Patients were followed for a median of 10.5 months(range 9-12 months). An independent neurological evaluation of tremor, based on the change in the United Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale tremor score(UPDRS), was correlated with a subjective evaluation. Gamma knife ventrolateral(V.O.P) thalamotomy was performed in one case of dystonia. A central dose of 150Gy was delivered and the patient was followed for 18 months. Gamma knife globus pallidus interna pallidotomy was performed in two Parkinson's disease patients. A radiation dose of 130Gy(range 120-140Gy) was delivered. Patients were followed for a median of 13 months(range 9-14 months). Result : Ventrolateral thalamotomy in dystonia produced regained left hand usage in order to be able to use the telephone. Ventralis intermedius thalamotomy produced an excellent improvement of the tremor in one case, mild improvement of the tremor in the other case of Parkinson's disease. A globus pallidus internalis(GPi) pallidotomy produced improvement of rigidity and dyskinesia : one other showed no change. There were no neurological complications. Conclusion : Gamma Knife thalamotomy considered a safe and effective technique for the treatment of tremor in Parkinson's disease. Although the results from Longer follow-up is not available yet, the short-term results seem to be encouraging.
In school PC labs or other educational purpose PC labs with a few dozens of PCs, computers are configured in a distributed architecture so that they are set up, maintained and upgraded separately. As an alternative to the distributed architecture, we can consider a thin-client computing environment. In a thin-client computing environment, client side devices provide mainly I/O functions with user friendly GUI and multimedia processing support whereas remote servers called terminal server provide computing power. In order to support many clients in the environment, a cluster of terminal servers can be configured. In this architecture, it is difficult due to the characteristics of terminal session persistence and different pattern of computing usage of users so that the utilization of terminal server resources becomes low. To overcome this disadvantage, we propose an adaptive terminal cluster where terminal servers ,ire partitioned into groups and a terminal server in a light-loaded group can be dynamically reassigned to a heavy-loaded group at run time. The proposed adaptive scheme is compared with a generic terminal service cluster and a group based non-adaptive terminal server cluster. Experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

This study points out a problem that the vehicle rotation area provided in a dead-end parking lot for apartment blocks is misused as unreasonable parking places but accordingly, the edge parking spaces are rarely used for parking. Therefore, this study aims to establish a parking design standard to improve the parking convenience and land-use efficiency by investigating the real parking behaviors and problems identified in the study area, multiple apartment blocks in Haeundae-gu, Busan. This study calculated two simple linear regression models for two mutually exclusive factors, such as the parking convenience and land-use efficiency, respectively, and specified a trade-off point that optimizes both factors. The study results found that parking convenience and land-use efficiency can be improved by not only changing the misused vehicle rotation area to normal parking spaces depending on the usage pattern, but also by increasing the width of the edge parking spaces from 2.3m to 2.6m. Finally, this study suggests two parking design cases for more realistic design applications by considering the parking environment in the dead-end parking lot for apartment blocks.
In this study, the characteristics of various raw hairs used for traditional Korean brushes were examined; further, the characteristics and deterioration patterns of Korean, Chinese, and Japanese brushes were compared, with a quantitative evaluation to assess the brush performance. The tensile strength was generally found to be higher with a greater fiber thickness. Among the hairs examined, the back and flank hair of goat was more damaged than that in other parts, and the tensile strength was low. Higher elasticity of the brush made with hair of high cysteine content was measured. Owing to deterioration by use of the brushes, artificial drying brushes had a higher yellowness index and lower tensile strength than natural drying brushes. Further, it was confirmed that brushes with good absorbency exhibited good consistency, but not good elasticity. Thus, the performance of the brush can be influenced by the kind of material used and the brush usage pattern. In addition, it is possible to identify the material science characteristics of brushes which have been produced only by experience; therefore, the results of this study could provide basic data for manufacturing brushes employed in conservation treatment, in the future.
This paper aims at developing 'gyro-mouse' which provides decent and comfortable human-computer interface that supports the usage of such software as an internet-browser in PC for the people paralyzed in upper limbs. This interface operates on information collected from head movement to get the cursor control. The interface is composed of two modules. One is hardware module in which the head horizontal and vertical angular velocities are detected and transmitted into PC. The other is a PC software that translates the received data into movement and click signals of the mouse. The ANN (artificial neural network) learns the quick nodding pattern of each user as click input so that it can provide user-friendly interface. The performance of the system was evaluated by three indices that are click recognition rate. error in cursor position control. and click rate of the moving target box. The performance result of the gyro-mouse was compared with that of the optical-mouse to assess the efficiency of the gyro-mouse. The average click recognition rate was 93%, average error in cursor position control was 1.4∼5 times of optical mouse. and the click rate with 50 pixels target box was 40%(30 clicks/min) to that of optical mouse. The click rate increased monotonously with the number of trial from 35% to 44%. The suggested system is expected to provide a new possibility to communicate with the society.
This paper suggests a new policy for consolidating a company's profits by segregating the clients using the contents service and allocating the media server's resources distinctively by clusters using the cluster analysis method of CRM, which is mainly applied to marketing. In this case, CRM refers to the strategy of consolidating a company's profits by efficiently managing the clients, providing them with a more effective, personalized service, and managing the resources more effectively. For the realization of a new service policy, this paper analyzes the level of contribution $vis-\acute{a}-vis$ the clients' service pattern (total number of visits to the homepage, service type, service usage period, total payment, average service period, service charge per homepage visit) and profits through the cluster analysis of clients' data applying the K-Means Method. Clients were grouped into 4 clusters according to the contribution level in terms of profits. Likewise, the CRFA (Client Request Filtering algorithm) was suggested per cluster to allocate media server resources. CRFA issues approval within the resource limit of the cluster where the client belongs. In addition, to evaluate the efficiency of CRFA within the Client/Server environment the acceptance rate per class was determined, and an evaluation experiment on network traffic was conducted before and after applying CRFA. The results of the experiments showed that the application of CRFA led to the decrease in network expenses and growth of the acceptance rate of clients belonging to the cluster as well as the significant increase in the profits of the company.

Among city parks, children's parks are more accessible than other parks in the city, and there are many users. They are used not only for children's playgrounds, but also for relaxation and leisure spaces for local residents. On the other hand, as a result of focusing on the quantitative increase by the engineering division by the Urban park Act, the consideration of the users of various classes is insufficient. The purpose of this study was to analyze the actual use of children parks in single - family housing and communal housing areas, and to identify the problems and future directions of the use of children parks. For this purpose, a case study and a document survey were conducted. First, through scholarship research, the theoretical review and the present situation were summarized based on the data, such as the papers and research reports related to the existing children's park. The status of the location, facilities and management were then identified through interviews and site visits with the children's park management staff. As a result, the children's park was utilized as a leisure space with high accessibility in the living area. As a result, the residence time of most users was within 1 hour to 2 hours. In particular, use by elderly people was higher than the use by children. Therefore, it would be desirable to design the future planning of the children's parks and to plan the arrangement in accordance with the future - oriented multi - purpose neighborhood type children's park.
This study was conducted to identify the effect of meridian acupressure on defecation of patients with post spinal operation. The nonequivalent control group posttest only design was used. The data were obtained from 77 post spinal operative patients, 34 in the experimental 43 in control group in Y Hospital, Seoul, Korea. The neurosurgical unit A and B ward, assigned by matched sample by the name of operation such as laminectomy and posterior lumbar interbody fusion are performed. Meridian acupressure meant the method that an examiner presses response points distributed in the pass of energy vessel. In this study, meridian acupressure program was performed on as points in order of Hegue (LI-4), Zhigou (TE-6), Zusanli (S-36), Shangjuxu (S-37), Xiajuxu (S-39), Tianshu (S-25), Taichong (L-3) which was known to be related to large intestine. Data were collected from 1, July 2003 to 1, September 2003. Meridian acupressure program was carried out for 20 minutes 4 hours after operation twice daily. In order to evaluate the effect of meridian acupressure intervention, they were asked time of bowel recovery, gas passing, and defecation though questionnaire method. Data were analyzed by the SPSS/ WIN 11.0 program. The results of this study were summarized as follows; 1. Homogeneity tests of general characteristics and operation related characteristics of the experimental group and the control group were performed. General characteristics included age, sex, defecation habit, eating pattern, fluid intake, life style, activity, usage of laxative and etc. 2. Hypotheses were verification as follows; 1) Recovery of bowel sound of the experimental group who received meridian acupressure intervention was faster than that of the control group after spinal operation (t=-6.770,P=.000). 2) Time of gas passing of the experimental group who received meridian acupressure program was faster than that of the control group after spinal operation (t=-8.003, P=.000). 3) Time to defecation of the experimental group who received meridian acupressure program was faster than that of the control group after spinal operation (t=-9.026, P=.000). 4) Abdominal discomfort due to defecation of the experimental group who received meridian acupressure program was lesser than that of the control group after spinal operation (t=-3.431, P=.001). From these results, meridian acupressure intervention was effective for recovery of bowel sound, reduce time to gas passing, time to defecation and lessen abdominal discomfort due to defecation on post spinal operative patients. And therefore this intervention can probably considered on clinical practice.

Focusing on the role of the science museum as an institution to improve the scientific literacy of the public, this study investigated public perception and behavior about science museum to know how much science museums affect the public by using social media big data analysis. For this purpose, we extracted texts containing 'science museum' in Naver blogs and Twitter, analyzed them by using network, frequency, co-ocurrence, and semantics analysis and compared them with the results in English speaking countries. As a result, blogs were mainly concerned with science museum among parents who have young children, while in Twitter posts from many students who visited as a group appeared. Therefore, the Korean public used science museum mainly as a space for children's experience, and in this case, programs and exhibitions of science museums are perceived positively. On the other hand, students who visited as a group showed some negative emotions. The result of comparison with the cases of foreign countries in terms of the function of the third generation science museum such as communications with the science museum and the public and the participation of the public in science, the Korean public hardly mentioned the scientific contents, words related to communications such as 'argue', and curators or staff after visiting the science museum. In contrast to many verbs related to meaningful activities such as 'learn', 'participate', 'listen', 'read', 'ask', 'think' appeared in English, only a small number of verbs include 'ask' and 'thin' appeared in Korean. Therefore, science museum need to improve impression, communicating with public, and involving activity with impact and variety after visit.
