Galvanized steel has gone through a chemical process to keep it from corroding. The steel gets coated in layers of zinc because rust will not attack this protective metal. For countless outdoor, marine, or industrial applications, galvanized steel is an essential fabrication component. The reduction of the corrosion rate of zinc is an important topic. In the past, a very popular way to reduce the corrosion rate of zinc was to use chemical conversion layers based on $Cr^{+6}$. However, a significant problem that has arisen is that the use of chromium salts is now restricted because of environmental protection legislation. Therefore, it is very important to develop new zinc surface treatments that are environmentally friendly to improve the corrosion resistance of zinc and adhesion with a final organic protective layer. In this study, a Urethane solution (only Urethane 20 wt.%; S-700) and an organic/inorganic solution with Si (Si polysilicate 10 wt.% + Urethane 10 wt.%; LRO-317) are used. Based on the salt spray test of 72 h, S-700 and LRO-317 had a superior effect for the corrosion resistance on EGI and HDGI, respectively.

In this study, the caprolactone modified hydroxy acrylates (CHAs) were synthesized by ring-opening reaction of caprolactone and 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate (2-HEA) as initiator. Also, the caprolactone modified urethane acrylate (UA) oligomers were synthesized by condensation reaction of previously synthesized CHAs, 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate (2-HEA) and hexamethylene diisocyanate trimer (HDT). Using the hydroxy number of CHAs, the molecular weights of the CHAs were calculated easily and their molecular weight was similar to the theoretical molecular weight of them. The viscosity of UA oligomers decreased as increasing a content of CHA in the UA oligomer. Cure films were prepared from UA oligomer, reactive diluents, and UV initiator to investigate their physical properties. The thermal stability and color difference on high temperature for the cured film were improved as increasing the crosslinking density. Their surface hardness was also increased as increasing crosslinking density of the cured films, but their elongation at break was decreased.

Demand for developing artificial green pearl that meets the needs of modern people has been increasing. In this paper, eco-friendly inorganic pearlescent pigment was used instead of organic pigment and urethane resin was substituted for nitrocellulose which has been used as main materials in previous preparation method, increasing gloss from 73.4% to 86.7%. Urethane was coated on substrate before finishing with CVD, resulting high gloss of 96%. Colorimeteric analysis shows that a* and b* of CIE value was changed from +37.7 and +24.5 to +31.9 and +14.2 respectively because of CVD finishing, obtaining colorful, high gloss and durable artificial pearl. Quality and toxicity of samples was established by chemical resistance, glossiness, colorimeter, surface roughness, wear resistance, content of heavy-metal, and salt water test.
The mechanical properties (tensile strength, 100% modulus and hardness) of the urethane elastomers prepared from hydroxyl terminated polybutadiene (HTPB), several low molecular weight diols (ethylene glycol, 1, 3-propane diol, 1,4-butane diol, 1,5-pentane diol and 1,6-hexane diol) and two kinds of diisocyanates(TDI: toluene diisocyanate, IPDI: isophorone diisomechanical properties were enhanced for the increases of the concentrations of the urethane group, as predicted. In case of TDI, when the mechanical properties of the elastomers were plotted patterns were observed, which can be explained by hydrogen bondings depending on the number of the methylene carbons. But the mechanical properties of the elastomers derived from IPDI had decreasing curves against the number of methylene carbons in low molecular weight diols, without the characteristic zigzag patterns.
Hydroxypropyl terminated PDMS was synthesized by the hydrosilylation reaction with allyl alcohol in the presence of Karstedt's catalyst. And them, an one-pot reaction with HDI isocyanurate trimer and hydroxyethyl methacrylate was conducted to give a silicone-modified urethane acrylate oligomer (PUA oligomer) having 9000 g/mol, weight average molecular weight. The synthesized PUA oligomer was characterized by using FT-IR and GPC. The UV-curable coatings were prepared by PUA oligomer blending with a reactive monomer (phenylthioethyl acrylate) under the different mole ratios. It was found that the refractive index of cured film increased when the reactive monomer was added but there was no relationship between the refractive index and amount of reactive monomer. Also, their transmittance for cured films was not change as increasing the content of reactive monomer.
When we considered the superior ability of the semi-water soluble urethane 1st transcription and final epoxy products, the stability for moving historic sites depend on physical properties and the peel off state of separation media. In this paper, we synthesised three type of water-borne epoxy solution without using a surfactant, and investigated the peel off state, physical properties, and the state between urethane surface and epoxy surface after exfoliation. The life time of water-borne separation media is over the 60 days. When it is used the 30% solution of water-borne separation media, it made good separation of urethane pre-products surface and epoxy final product surface and no color change. The separation tension pressure is about 15~50 kg/$cm^2$ and there is no surface whitewash phenomenon. We suggest that this water-borne epoxy will be best material as separation media of low viscosity type.
Stability of the moving historic sites have something to do with the degree of easiness of work as well as physical property of polymer product. These agents should be able to use without the effect of outer environments like water or low temperature and must have stability during progress of working the peel off Urethane pre-product from Epoxy surface. So, we synthesized low viscosity epoxy resin and hardener with best physical quality and separation media for the moving of historical sites. These products have very good tension strength, adhesion strength, low viscosity and various physical properties that the users want. Particularly, separation media products have good separation of Urethane pre-products surface and Epoxy final product surface.

In this study, a new paint which is able to resist the cavitation erosion is tried to be developed by using urethane added with nano particles such as multi-wall and single-wall carbon nano tube and spherical and fiber type graphite. The new paint synthesized was characterized with physical properties and resistivity to cavitation erosion($t_{50}$). Among nano particles, fiber type graphite($t_{50}$ 292min) showed high hardness and wear resistance compared with spherical type($t_{50}$ 182min). For carbon nano tube, single-wall type($t_{50}$ 286min) was higher than multi-wall type in wear resistance. Fiber-type graphite was the best nano-particle for paint with resistivity to cavitation erosion. In the application test of paint, the manually painted sample showed surface with smooth but the surface of sample prepared with spray was not smooth. During spray, dust was fixed on the surface.

In this study, a new paint which is able to resist the cavitation erosion is tried to be developed by using urethane added with polyol such as poly propylene glycol(PPG), poly carbonate diol(PCD), polycaprolactone polyol (PCL-1), and poly caprolactone-tetramethylene gylcolether polyol(PCL-2). The new paint synthesized by adding polyol was characterized with physical properties and resistivity to cavitation erosion. Among polyol, the prepolymer added with PCD showed high hardness and wear resistance. However, due to too high in viscosity, the prepolymer added with PCL-1 was selected as a paint. The paint added with PCL-1 showed high resistivity to cavitation erosion and its surface was monitored by using Scanning Electron Microscope.
This paper deals with a coating technique of hardening surface layer of softwood{Larix leptolepis) flooring board to improve its surface properties such as hardness and abrasion resisitance without spoiling its exellent qualities such as beautiful color tones and great strength. For surface hardening of the wood, polyurethane wood sealer was used as under coat, polyurethane sanding sealer as intermediate coat, and UV-curing epoxy acrylate and urethane acrylate varnishes as top coat. The hardness of the wood was improved by the coating treatment and it was similar to that of high density hardwood such as oak, keruing. The abrasion resistance of the coated wood was greatly improved by UV curing epoxy acrylate or urethane acrylate varnishes. Adhesion properties and impact resisitance of the coated wood surface were also good. It was suggested that the well-coated larch wood could be used as interior flooring board as substitute for hardwood such as keruing.
