Isoconversional Cure Kinetics of Modified Urea-Formaldehyde Resins with Additives

  • As a part of abating formaldehyde emission of urea-formaldehyde resin, this study was conducted to investigate the rmalcure kinetics of both neat and modified urea-formaldehyde resins using differential scanning calorimetry. Neat urea-formaldehyde resins with three different formaldehyde/urea mol ratios (1.4, 1.2 and 1.0) were modified by adding three different additives (sodium bisulfite, sodium hydrosulfite and acrylamide) at two different levels (1 and 3wt%). An isoconversional method at four different heating rates was employed to characterize thermal cure kinetics of these urea-formaldehyde resins to obtain activation energy ($E{\alpha}$) dependent on the degree of conversion (${\alpha}$). The $E{\alpha}$ values of neat urea-formaldehyde resins (formaldehyde/urea = 1.4 and 1.2) consistently changed as the ${\alpha}$ increased. Neat and modified urea-formaldehyde resins of these two F/U mol ratios did show a decrease of the $E{\alpha}$ at the final stage of the conversion while the $E{\alpha}$ of neat urea-formaldehyde resin (formaldehyde/urea = 1.0) increased as the ${\alpha}$ increased, indicating the presence of incomplete cure. However, the change of the $E{\alpha}$ values of all urea-formaldehyde resins was consistent to that of the Ea values. The isoconversional method indicated that thermal cure kinetics of neat and modified urea-formaldehyde resins showed a strong dependence on the resin viscosity as well as diffusion control reaction at the final stage of the conversion.

  • Purpose: Satisfying the environmental regulations, the automobile manufacturer should install urea tank, which is a key component of the urea system. However, due to the limitations of existing layouts, it may be mounted which is disadvantageous to vibration and shock resulting in durability robust. analyze the factors affecting the durability life of urea tank and the vibration characteristics through RLDA. In this study, clarify the limit of the current practice test method of urea tank and analyze the possibility of the new vibration test method in the system unit reflecting the characteristics of actual use condition. Methods: Analyzing the factors affecting the durability life of urea tank and the vibration characteristics through PSD & FDS of RLDA that actual vehicle driving data on durability test road. Results: The limit of the uniform width/single frequency test method of urea tank is clarifed and the positive prospects of the new test method are discovered. Conclusion: The vibration durability test with PSD method in system unit effectively reflects the magnitude and frequency characteristics of field vibration.

동위원소 희석 HPLC/MS에 의한 혈청 내 urea의 정량 (Quantification of urea in serum by isotope dilution HPLC/MS)

  • 혈액 내 urea는 임상진단 시 신장 기능을 판단하는 중요한 표지물질로서 측정되고 있다. 단백질 등 질소화합물의 최종 대사물인 urea는 콩팥의 사구체에서 걸러져 소변으로 배출되는데, 사구체의 거르는 능력이 저하되면 결국 혈액 속의 urea 농도가 증가하게 되어 신장 기능의 정상여부를 판단할 수 있게 된다. 이러한 임상진단 결과의 신뢰성 향상을 위해서는 측정결과가 일차분석법으로 인증된 인증표준 물질과 소급성 고리를 유지해야 한다. 본 연구에서는 혈청 내 urea의 일차분석법으로서 $15^N_2$-urea를 내부 표준물질로 사용하는 동위원소희석 액체크로마토그라피-질량분석법 (ID-HPLC/MS)을 개발하였다. 이 방법은 측정원리상 고도의 정확성이 확보될 뿐 아니라 별도의 유도체화가 필요 없기 때문에 빠르고 편리하다. $C_{18}$-분리관에 0.1 mmol/L $NH_4Cl$ buffer를 이동상으로 사용하여 urea를 분리하였는데, 이 완충용액은 비교적 분자량이 작은 urea를 질량분석하는데 방해가 크지 않은 장점이 있다. HPLC와 질량분석기의 인터페이스로서 positive mode의 electrospray ionization (ESI)를 사용하여 높은 감도와 재현성을 성취하였다. 국제적으로 인정된 인증표준물질의 분석을 통해 최적화된 방법의 유효성을 확인하였으며, 국제비교시험에도 참여하여 좋은 결과를 얻었다. ISO guide에 따라 불확도를 계산하였으며, 확장 불확도는 95% 신뢰도에서 약 1.8%로 나타났다. 이 분석법은 표준연에서 개발 중인 혈청인증표준물질을 인증하는 일차기준측정절차로도 사용되고 있다.

  • Studies the reaction mechanism and optimal reaction condition of the process of preparing sodium isocyanate, by means of heating of sodium carbonate and urea. Proposing, at the sametime, the quantitative analyzing method of sodium isocyanate in the presence of impurities of $Na_{2}CO_{3}$, urea and biuret. 1. Sodium isocyanate could be prepared by means of heating reaction of sodium carbonate and urea. 2. Adding urea into the heated sodium carbonate is reasonable. 3. Quantitative analysis of sodium isocyanate in the presence of impurities, $Na_{2}CO_{3}$, urea and biuret could be done by the following method:-adding nitrobarite solution into sample solution in order to remove $CO_{3}"$ and neutralize the solution, filtering off $BaCO_{3}$, and then precipitating isocyanate as a silver salt, filtering off AgNCO, and then, titrating remaining $AgNO_{3}$ with $NH_{4}SCN$, (indicator $FeNH_{4}(SO_{4})_{2})$/TEX>

시비방법이 버어리종 잎담배의 농경적 특성에 미치는 영향 (Fertilizer Placement Effect on Agronomic Characteristics of Burley Tobacco(N. tabacum L.))

  • Recently the method of basal compound fertilizer (N : P : K = 18.2 : 9.8 : 35.0) Placement has been changed from banding to broadcasting in tobacco cultivation. The effects of the compound fertilizer placement, level of fertilizer and additional urea application on the agronomic characteristics, two chemical compositions and physical Properties of burley tobacco(Nicotiana tabacum L. cv. KB 108) were investigated at Chonju Experiment Station, Korea Ginseng and Tobacco Research Institute in 1995-1996. Six treatments consisted of (1) band (method of fertilizer Placement) + In kg/10a(compound fertilizer) + 0(additional urea applied), (2) broadcast+140+0, (3) broadcast+140+25, (4) band+180+0, (5) broadcast+180+0, and (6) broadcast +180+25. The additional urea was applied at hilling. No significant differences were detected between banding and broadcasting method of compound fertilizer Placement in field 9rowth, wield, organoleptic qualify(price Per kilogram), chemical composition and Physical properties of cured leaf, The increased compound fertilizer by 30%(40k/10a) or the additional urea application by 25kg per 10a produced slightly higher yield than the recommended amount of basal compound fertilizer without additional urea application did. It also increased the total alkaloid content of cured leaf. It is recommended that no more basal fertilizer above the recommended amount and no additional urea application are needed in burley tobacco fertilization, even though the method of basal fertilizer placement being chanced from banding to broadcasting.   • Urea is detected as an indicator of renal disease in the human body. For these reasons, many biosensors for urea have been developed based on the enzymatic reaction of urea hydrolysis catalyzed by urease. Potentiometric method is applied reversible reaction system. But urea hydrolysis reaction may not has a reversible reaction mechanism in electrode surface. Therefore we applied to voltammtricmethod to obtain a sensitivity curve. The sensitivity of sensors was 34 ${\mu}$A/decade.

ON FARM DEMONSTRATION OF VARIOUS STORAGE METHODS FOR UREA TREATED WHEAT STRAW

  • On farm demonstration of urea treatment (5 kg urea dissolved in 60 litre water/100kg) of straw was performed at 6 different sites and treated straw was stored by three different methods i.e., plastic covered, mud plastered and existing farmers technique (mud plastered on the top and open from sides) to determine the best storage method in field. Untreated and treated samples were taken after 5 week storage period and subjected to crude protein, crude fibre and cell wall constituents analysis. In situ dry matter digestibility of straw was measured by nylon bag technique in buffalo bulls. Crude protein content increased by 100 to 153 percent in treated straw stored by different methods. Maximum increase in crude protein of treated straw was noticed in mud plastered method. Urea treatment of straw resulted in significant decrease in crude fibre contents in all the storage methods. Treatment of straw enhanced the in situ digestibility by 25-49 percent and maximum digestibility (53%) was found in mud plastered storage method. It was concluded that the mud plastered storage method for urea treated straw was found to be the best at farm level.

  • This study was to measure formaldehyde emission and bonding strength of plywoods manufactured with urea-melamine formaldehyde adhesives, which were made from three different mixing ratios of urea and melamine, and with four different formaldehyde/urea-melamine molar ratios of 1.0,1.1,1.2 and 1.4. The results were as follows 1. Amount of formaldehyde emission was the lowest at the first method of molar ratio(F/(M+U)) 1.0. Amounts of formaldehyde emission of experimental manufactured adhesives were lower than that of commercial adhesive. 2. Bonding strength of dry specimen was the highest at the first method of molar ratio(F/(M+U)) 1.4. Dry bonding strength of molar ratio(F/(M+U)) 1.4 was similar to commercial adhesive. 3. Bonding strength of wet specimen was the highest at the second method of molar ratio(F/(M+U)) 1.4. Bonding strength of wet specimen used by the third method of molar ratio(F/(M+U)) 1.4 was almost equal to commercial adhesive.

Urea와 THAMP 유기 단결정의 육성에 관한 연구 (Studies on the growth of organic single crystals of urea and THAMP)

  • Urea($(NH_2)_2CO$) 및 THAMP(Tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane phosphate) 유기 단결정은 레이저의 파장변환소자등의 응용에 유용한 새로운 유기 비선형 광학재료(NLO)이다. 온도하강법과 온도차법을 이용하여 urea와 THAMP 유기 단결정의 육성을 시도하였으며 이들 방법에 따른 육성조건을 확립하였다. Urea의 용매로는 용해도의 측정을 통하여 메탄올이 가장 적합하였으며, 용해도에 대한 온도계수는 posotive였으며, 용해열은 - 2.58 kcal/mol이었다. 육성된 urea 결정은 z축의 성장이 지배적이었고, z축의 성장제어와 x, y축의 성장을 위하여 $NH_4_H_2PO_4$, KCL, $H_3PO_4$, $CaCl_2{\cdot}2H_2O$, $C_2H_5OH$의 첨가제를 사용하여 z축의 성장제어와 x, y축의 성장을 증진시켰다. THAM과 $H_3PO_4$의 화학 양론적 혼합비 1 : 1의 몰비로부터 양질의 THAMP 유기 단결정을 육성하였고 용해도에 대한 온도계수는 positive였으며, 용해열은 - 1.70 kcal/mol이었다.

전기전도도법을 이용한 우레아 농도 센서 개발 (Development of an Urea Sensor using Electric Conductivity Method)

  • The popularity of diesel engines is derived primarily from their higher thermal efficiency resulting from higher compression ratio. NOx removal from the diesel emissions is very important to meet stringent emission regulations. NOx emission from diesel engines is removed by an urea-SCR or an LNT system. The urea-SCR system needs the urea-solution supply system with concentration and level sensor. This study was carried out to develop a sensor for the measurement of urea-solution concentration by an electric conductivity method. Considering experimental parameters were the material of electrode, two kinds of electric power(AC or DC), the distance between two electrodes, and the length of electrode. It was found that the AC electric power was more useful to measure the urea-solution concentration compared to DC, because it prevented an ionization of the urea-solution. The silver rod coated with Pt is the most useful electrode, tendency of which is similar to Pt rod, and the cost is more economic. We could also find out the optimum distance between two electrodes and the length of electrode was 10mm and 3mm, respectively.
