This study proposed a rainfall-runoff model for the purpose of real-time flood warning in urban basins. The proposed model was based on the shot noise process, which is expressed as a sum of shot noises determined independently with the peak value, decay parameter and time delay of each sub-basin. The proposed model was different from other rainfall-runoff models from the point that the runoff from each sub-basin reaches the basin outlet independently. The model parameters can be easily determined by the empirical formulas for the concentration time and storage coefficient of a basin and those of the pipe flow. The proposed model was applied to the total of three rainfall events observed at the Jungdong, Guro 1 and Daerim 2 pumping stations to evaluate its applicability. Summarizing the results is as follows. (1) The unit response function of the proposed model, different from other rainfall-runoff models, has the same shape regardless of the rainfall duration. (2) The proposed model shows a convergent shape as the calculation time interval becomes smaller. As the proposed model was proposed to be applied to urban basins, one-minute of calculation time interval would be most appropriate. (3) Application of the one-minute unit response function to the observed rainfall events showed that the simulated runoff hydrographs were very similar to those observed. This result indicates that the proposed model has a good application potential for the rainfall-runoff analysis in urban basins.
The continuous long-term rainfall-runoff simulation model SWAT has the advantage of being able to account for various land use, however, SWAT lacks the capability of simulating the drainage characteristics of urban area. On the other hand, SWMM, which is the most popular model for runoff analysis of urban watershed, has the advantage of being capable of considering surface and drainage characteristics in urban area, but SWMM cannot easily account for land use other than urban area within a watershed. In this study, SWAT-SWMM model, which builds on the strengths of SWAT and SWMM, has been applied to the Osan River Watershed which is a tributary watershed to the Gyung-Ahn River. From the application, the results from coupled SWAT-SWMM model has been compared to the ones from SWAT for each hydrologic component such as evapotranspiration, surface runoff, groundwater flow, and watershed and channel discharge, and the runoff characteristics of two models for each hydrologic component has been discussed.

This study is to develop a distributed urban flood runoff model that simulates the road runoff and to test the applicability of the model by applying to Pyeongtaek city of $12.2km^2$. To generate the runoff along the runoff, agree burned DEM (Digital Elevation Model) with road networks was suggested and the proper spatial resolution of DEM was identified finer than 15 m. To test the model applicability, 32 points on the road networks were selected and the hydrographs of each point were generated. The test showed reasonable results that increase the road runoff from the high elevation roads to the low elevation roads and the road runoff considering rainwater drainage from the road also showed reasonable results.

The paper presents the development and applications of physically-based urban runoff analysis model, URAM, which is capable of simulating sewer runoff hydrographs and inundation conditions within a small urban catchment. The model considers three typical flow conditions of urban drainage networks, whichn are overland flow, gutter flow, and conduit flow during a storm. Infiltration, retention storage and flow routing procedures are physically depicted in model. It was tested satisfactorily with field data from a tested catchment having drainage area of 4.91 ha. It was also applied to other urban areas and found to adequately simulate inundation areas and duration as observed during storms. The test results as well as model components are described in the paper.

Urbanization concerned with concentration of population, activity and expanding the urban changes a natural environmental, and human activity in urban area causes the appearance of a new hydrologic cycle system. This study is carried out the analysis for the characteristics of runoff variation in urban areas with progress of urbanization. To simulate the mechanics of runoffs on small urban watershed, the ILLUDAS model is used in this study. From the analysis of the urban-runoff processes in small urban area with the progress of urbanization, the following conclusions is obtained. It is found in the results of calculated geographical parameter that peak time is quickened by 15∼35 minutes rather than the urbanization before. Also, in the analysis of the peak rate of runoff, the peak flow rise by 60 % than the urbanization before.

The hydrologic model FESHM was introduced and its applicability was investigated in an attempt to analyze the rainfall-runoff relationships of urban small watersheds and to hereafter predict the envi-ronmental changes. Basic data on rainfall, water level, geomorphological characterisitics and land use were obtained from Yeonwha stream watershed located in Chonju-si Dukjin-dong. WL-5 for simulation o subshed WS# 1(136.7 ha) with urban district and WL-1 for total watershed WS#5 (278.78 ha) we'e selected as gaging points. The main results gained through applications were summarized as follows. 1. Direct runoff ratio caalculated from a simple separation method for WS#5 WS# 1 was 2O~39%, 38~62%, respectively. 2. Simulations for the runoff estimation were carried out for each watershed using 5 rainfall events, the simulation errors had the range of 2~ 30%, O~ 63% and O 120 minutes for the runoff volume, peak flow and peak time, respectively. 3. The effect of landuse change by urbanization was tested to WS# 1, runoff volume before development was estimated as from tenth to twentieth against after development.
Urban development is a cause of expansion of impervious area. A permanent storage is operated as a method of reducing runoff of watershed. The purpose of study is to propose reasonable choice of simulation model for rainfall-runoff in the prior review system on disaster effect. First, we indicated problem about concentration time choice in the flood simulation. To test the adequacy of a rainfall-runoff simulation model, We analyzed characteristics of rainfall-runoff about urban and natural watersheds. A simulation model was calibrated with the storm of july 7 to July 9 in 2009. From the result, we proposed that SWMM and kinematic wave method as the flood simulation models for urban and natural watersheds. A simulation model and design method of a permanent storage for flood that is proposed in this study will be useful for practical design of flood simulation. The hydrologic analysis method of the study can be used for capacity evaluation of permanent storage plan.
In this study, in order to efficiently perform smart city river management, we developed an integrated platform that connects flood analysis models on the web and provides information by converting input and output data into a database. In the integrated platform, a watershed analysis model, a river flow analysis model and an urban runoff analysis model were applied to perform flood analysis in smart city. This platform is able to obtain more reliable results by step-by-step approach to urban runoff that may occur in smart city through the applied model. In addition, since all analysis processes such as data collection, input data generation and result storage are performed on the web, anyone in an environment that can access the web without special equipment or tools can perform analysis and view results. Through this, it is expected that smart city managers can efficiently manage urban runoff and nearby rivers, and can also be used as educational materials for urban outflows.
In the case of rapidly developed urban and industrial complex, the most area becomes impervious, which causes the increasing runoff and high probability of flooding. SWMM model has been widely used to calculate stormwater runoff in urban areas, however, the model is limited to interpreting the actual natural phenomenon. It has the uncertainty in the model structure, so it is difficult to calculate the accurate runoff from the urban basin. In this study, the model parameters were investigated and uncertainty was quantified using Uncertainty Quantification Index (UQI). As a result, pipe roughness coefficient has the largest total uncertainty and largest effect on the total runoff. Therefore, when the stormwater pipe network is designed, pipe roughness coefficient has to be calibrated accurately. The quantified uncertainty should be considered in the runoff calculation. It is recommended to understand the characteristics of each parameter for the prevention and mitigation of urban flood.
