  • The media transport systems, such as printers, copy machines, facsimiles, ATMs, cameras, etc. have been widely used and being developed rapidly. In the development of those sheet-handling machineries, it is important to predict the static and dynamic behavior of the sheet with a high degree of reliability because the sheets are fed and stacked at such a high speed. Flexible media are very thin, light and flexible, so they behave in geometric nonlinearity with large displacement and large rotation but small strain. In the flexible media analysis, aerodynamic effect from the surrounding air must be included because any small force can make large deformation. In this paper, only the flexible media analysis is performed as early stage of analysis including aerodynamic effect. Through formulations and simulations for total Lagrangian(TL), updated Lagrangian (UL) and co-rotational(CR) method which are widely used for geometric nonlinear analysis, usefulness and reliability of each methods are investigated.

네트워크 및 웹 서버의 부하를 고려한 지능적인 검색시스템의 설계 및 구현 (Intelligential Search Engine Considering the Load of Web Servers and Networks)

  • 기존의 검색엔진은 분산된 불특정 다수의 웹 서버에 대해 웹 서버 부하, 네트워크 부하를 고려하지 않고 로봇을 동작시키므로 웹서버 및 네트워크의 과부하를 초래한다. 또한 정보의 갱신 기간도 3∼4주 간격으로 필요한 시기에 정보가 갱신되지 않는 경우가 많으며, 웹서버의 내용 변경이 없음에도 불구하고 무조건 웹서버의 내용을 수집하여 갱신한다. 본 논문에서는 네트워크 및 웹서버 부하를 고려한 지능적인 검색시스템을 제안하고, 이 시스템에 필요한 실시간 제어 검색엔진 및 분산되어 있는 정보를 모아서 갱신해 주는 지능적인 로봇을 설계 및 구현하였으며, 네트워크 부하 및 웹 서버의 부하를 모니터링하여 전체 시스템의 성능을 향상시킬 수 있는 로봇 제어 정책을 수립하였다.

케이블로 지지된 PC뼈대의 시간의존적 비선형 해석 (Time-Dependent Nonlinear Analysis of Cable-Supported Prestressed Concrete Frames)

  • 본 논문에서는 케이블로 지지된 프리스트레스트 콘크리트(PC) 뼈대의 시공중의 각 단계를 고려하고 콘크리트와 PC 강재, 케이블 재료의 시간의존적 특성 및 재료의 비선형성과 케이블의 색 및 구조물의 처짐에 의한 기하학적 비선형성도 고려하는 해석방법을 제시했다. 구조물의 비선형거동을 해석하기 위한 운동방정식은 Updated Lagrangian 방식을 이용하여 유도하고 시간의존적인 거동올 해석하기 위해서 시간영역을 시간단계로 나누어 순차적으로 적분했다. 시공중의 각 단계를 표현하기 위해 계속적인 구조계의 변화를 고려했다. 본 논문에서 제시한 해석방법에 근거하여 컴퓨터 프로그램 CFRAME을 개발하고 예제들을 통하여 해석방법의 정당성을 보였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 평직구조를 갖는 성층권 비행선 기낭의 하중막재에 대한 비선형 유한요소 해석 결과를 기술하였다. 평직구조를 갖는 하중막재의 미세구조를 3차원적으로 구현하였고, Updated Lagrangian 방법을 사용하여 기하학적 비선형성을 고려하였다 계산결과, 큰 변형률에서 비선형해석으로부터 얻은 응력-변형률 곡선은 선형해석의 결과와 큰 차이를 보였다. 또한 응력-변형률 곡선으로부터 얻은 비선형 탄성계수 값은 선형 탄성계수보다 큰 값을 보였는데 그 차이는 섬유의 굴곡도가 작은 경우 더욱 두드러지게 나타났다

범용 전문가시스템 쉘을 이용한 선박의 구조설계 지원 시스템 (A Design Support System for the Structural Design of Ships Based on an Expert System Development Shell)

  • Conventional computer programs developed and used by practicing engineers can be considered to contain expert knowledge and design experience. If these conventional programs are converted into expert systems, the difficult and time consuming process of knowledge acquisition can be simplified. Also the constructed knowledge-base can have higher confidence level than that constructed by the usual knowledge acquisition method of interviews. An existing computer program which is being used by ship structural designers has been reformulated as a design expert system by applying an expert system development shell-Nexpert. Utilizing the callable interface provided by the development shell, external design tools have also been integrated. The interfaced external functions are a graphical user interface (GUI) for the design process control, and graphics functions for the visualization of design results. It is observed that the developed system for design support is useful in two aspects. The trace-back function shows what portion of design rules are applied in arriving at certain design decisions. Also the knowledge-base can be conveniently updated as design rules of the classification societies are updated.

Seismic qualification using the updated finite element model of structures

  • The standard practice is to seismically qualify the safety related equipment and structural components used in the nuclear power plants. Among several qualification approaches the qualification by the analysis using finite element (FE) method is the most common approach used in practice. However the predictions by the FE model for a structure is known to show significant deviations from the dynamic behaviour of 'as installed' structure in many cases. Considering such limitation, few researchers have advocated re-qualification of such structures after installation at site to enhance the confidence in qualification vis-$\grave{a}$-vis plant safety. For such an exercise the validation of FE model with experimental modal data is important. A validated FE model can be obtained by the Model Updating methods in conjugation with the in-situ experimental modal data. Such a model can then be used for qualification. Seismic analysis using the updated FE model and its advantage has been presented through an example of an in-core component - a perforated horizontal tube of a nuclear reactor.

Two Case Reports and an Updated Review of Spinal Intraosseous Schwannoma

  • We report two rare cases of spinal intraosseous schwannoma (SIS) with sustained myelopathy symptoms and provide an updated review regarding SIS in the literature. A 71-year-old man experienced right lumbocrural pain and gait disturbance accompanied with paresthesia and right leg weakness. Imaging examinations revealed a mass with lesions in L4 vertebral body causing bone destruction and spinal cord compression. Complete resection of the well-demarcated tumor and posterior fusion were performed. A 54-year-old female reported bilateral gait disturbance, paresthesia, and numbness without weakness, and imaging revealed a posterior mass from T9 causing spinal cord compression and bone erosion. The tumor was completely separated from the spinal nerve root. The tumors from both patients were confirmed as schwannomas. Tumor recurrence was not observed at the 2-4 year follow-up. Although rare, SIS should be considered during differential diagnosis and can affect treatment planning. SIS symptoms vary depending on tumor location, and fusion is frequently necessary for spinal reconstruction after complete tumor resection.

능동서버기반의 안티바이러스 시스템 설계 및 구현 (Design and Implement of Active Server-based Anti-Virus System)

  • 정보기술의 발달은 무한한 정보를 쉽고 빠르게 사용할 수 있게 되었지만 이에 따른 부작용도 증가되었다. 이러한 부작용에는 해킹이나 크래킹, 개인정보 유출 등이 있으며 최근에는 컴퓨터 바이러스가 심각한 문제로 제기되고 있다. 컴퓨터 바이러스에 대한 최선의 해결책은 안티바이러스이다 안티바이러스는 클라이언트 측에 설치되어 서버에서 바이러스의 시그니천를 내려받아 갱신하는 형태로 구현되고 있으나 최근에는 서버와 연동하는 제품들도 생겨나게 되었다. 그러나 이러한 안티바이러스 시스템들은 적절히 시그니쳐가 갱신되지 않으면 안티바이러스가 정상적으로 작동하지 않으며 원격관리가 되지 않는다는 단점이 있다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위하여 서버에 설치되어 원격으로 관리할 수 있는 능동서버기반의 안티바이러스 시스템을 설계 및 구현하였다.

Observed Seasonal Variability of Barrier Layer in the Bay of Bengal

  • The objective of this study is first to resolve the spatial and seasonal variability of BL in the bay using 'the most comprehensive' data set available for the bay and then to understand the formation mechanisms and variability in the light of the known dynamical and thermodynamical processes. The most recent study [Masson et al., 2002] on the BL variability in the bay was based on the World Ocean Atlas (WOA98) of Levitus [1998]. The temperature and salinity profiles in the bay have increased considerably after the release of WOA98. The WOA98, itself has been updated to WOA01 in 2001. Further, the deployment of ARGO profiling floats in the bay since 2002 has generated many additional profiles. In addition to the ARGO data and the updated WOA01, the hydrographic data collected from the bay under several Indian national programs and archived in the Indian Oceanographic Data Centre (IODC) was also considered in the present study. The WOA98 and WOA01 consist of only limited data from the IODC archive, especially from the Exclusive Economic Zone of India. Therefore, the combination of these data from the three different sources (WOA01, ARGO and IODC) provides ‘the most comprehensive data set’ for the bay to resolve the BLT structure and its variability in a much better scale than in the past.

양방향 통신을 지원하는 시분할 기반 선형 무선 센서 네트워크를 위한 원격 펌웨어 업데이트 방법 (A Remote Firmware Update Mechanism for a TDMA-based Bidirectional Linear Wireless Sensor Network)

  • A wireless sensor network inherently comprises a plurality of sensor nodes widely deployed for sensing environmental information. To add new functions or to correct some faulty functions of an existing wireless sensor network, the firmware for each sensor node needs to be updated. Firmware update would be quite troublesome if it requires the gathering, reprogramming, and redeploy of all of already deployed sensor nodes. Over-the-air programming (OTA) facilitates the firmware update process, thereby allowing convenient maintenance of an already-deployed sensor network. This paper proposes and implements a remote firmware update mechanism for a TDMA-based wireless sensor network, in which the firmware for sensor nodes constituting the TDMA-based sensor network can be easily updated and the update process can be conveniently monitored from a remote site. We verify the validity of the proposed firmware update method via experiments and introduce three wireless sensor networks installed in outdoor sites in which the proposed firmware update mechanism has been exploited.
