  • Defining the concept of prominent audio content as the most informative audio content from the users' perspective within a given unstructured audio segment, we propose a simple but robust intensity-based attack/release pattern features to detect the prominent audio content. We also propose a web-based annotation procedure to retrieve users' subjective perception and annotated 18 hours of video clips across various genres, such as cartoon, movie, news, etc. The experiments with a linear classification method whose models are trained for speech, music, and sound effect demonstrate promising - but varying across the genres of programs - results (e.g., 86.7% weighted accuracy for speech-oriented talk shows and 49.3% weighted accuracy for {action movies}).

  • Purpose: This study was performed to understand the characteristics and the meaning of the illness experience of breast cancer survivors as basic data for the development of an intervention program. Methods: The participants were 25 breast cancer survivors who had completed treatment at a tertiary hospital in Seoul. Data were collected through in-depth and unstructured audio-recorded interviews by the investigator. The participants were asked to describe their illness experience. The data were analyzed according to Giorgi's method for phenomenological analysis. Results: The interview data were organized by theme into 6 categories that emerged from the analysis. The themes were acceptance of the illness, active coping with reality, gaining strength through the support of surrounding people, struggling to overcome a negative mindset, self-reflection, and the pursuit of a meaningful new life. Conclusion: We recommend the development of a survivorship program based on self-reflection, which can engender self-transcendence and spiritual well-being.

  • Deep learning has made great strides in the field of unstructured data such as text, images, and audio. However, in the case of tabular data analysis, machine learning algorithms such as ensemble methods are still better than deep learning. To keep up with the performance of machine learning algorithms with good predictive power, several deep learning methods for tabular data have been proposed recently. In this paper, we review the latest deep learning models for tabular data and compare the performances of these models using several datasets. In addition, we also compare the latest boosting methods to these deep learning methods and suggest the guidelines to the users, who analyze tabular datasets. In regression, machine learning methods are better than deep learning methods. But for the classification problems, deep learning methods perform better than the machine learning methods in some cases.

  • This research was an attempt to find out an entrance experience into major subject of student nurse. The purpose of this study was to understand an lived learning experience of student nurse. Method of the study was applied a phenomenological approach used by Colaizzi's analytic technique. Participants were 33 sophomore student nurse from TC University. The investigator conducted participated observations and in-depth unstructured interviews which were audio taped under the permission of student nurse, formulating meanings, themes and theme clusters. Results of the study were revealed 6 categories, 14 theme clusters, and 31 themes. Six categories include 'feeling anxious about clinical application', 'making superficial class', 'evaluation for ability of memory', 'deficit of academic evaluation criteria', 'insufficiency of textbook' and 'deficit for uniqueness of nursing science'. This findings confirm the fact that the student nurse's entrance experience was complicated and diversely influenced by their learning experiences. In conclusion, this study will prove helpful not only in understanding student nurse's entrance experience about their specialities but also in developing curriculum for nursing education.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe the post-traumatic stress experiences of firefighters and paramedics. Methods: The participants were 20 fire fighters and paramedics who belong to the Busan Fire Department. Data were collected through in-depth, unstructured audio-taped interviews by the investigator over a six-month period. The participants were asked to describe their post-traumatic stress. The data were analyzed according to Giorgi's method for phenomenological analysis. Results: The interview data were organized by theme into 7 categories that emerged from the analysis. Participants faced various post-traumatic stresses working as fire fighters or paramedics. The categories were suffering from disastrous situations, feeling of fear and helplessness in the face of death, re-experiencing vividly the past traumatic situation, avoiding painful reminders of the trauma, emotional numbing as time passes, suffering from emotional arousal and increased anxiety, and struggling to cope with the post-traumatic stress. Conclusion: This study provides a better understanding of post-traumatic stress experiences from fire fighters and paramedics and the knowledge gained from this study will help in developing appropriate post-traumatic stress management programs.

  • The purpose of this research was to understand the structure of the experiences of turnover among hospital nurses. The research question was 'What is the structure of the experiences of turnover among hospital nurses?' The sample consisted of 16 hospital nurses who experienced one or more turnover. The unstructured interview were carried out from July 15. through August 31., 1997. Intervewed by audio-recording and analyzed by Van Kaam's method. There were 361 descriptive expressions and priority classifications. The result summerized as 107 common elements, 38 syntheses of hypothetical definitions and 6 identifications of the structural definition. The structural definitions and hypothetical definitiones were as follows ; 1. There were different views on the turnover intention. Hard task, dissatisfaction of initial expectancy, uncomfortable relationship with doctors, inappriate reward, uncomfortable relationship with workers of other parts, uncomfortable relationship with patients, unreasonable promotion, uncomfortable relationship with co-worker, helplessness, poor environment of working conditions. 2. • Purpose The proliferation of data on the internet has created a need for innovative methods to analyze user satisfaction data. Traditional survey methods are becoming inadequate in dealing with the increasing volume and diversity of data, and new methods using unstructured internet data are being explored. While numerous comment-based user satisfaction studies have been conducted, only a few have explored user satisfaction through video and audio data. Multimodal sentiment analysis, which integrates multiple modalities, has gained attention due to its high accuracy and broad applicability. Design/methodology/approach This study uses multimodal sentiment analysis to analyze user satisfaction of iPhone and Samsung products through online videos. The research reveals that the combination model integrating multiple data sources showed the most superior performance. Findings The findings also indicate that price is a crucial factor influencing user satisfaction, and users tend to exhibit more positive emotions when content with a product's price. The study highlights the importance of considering multiple factors when evaluating user satisfaction and provides valuable insights into the effectiveness of different data sources for sentiment analysis of product reviews.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this narrative study was to understand how family caregivers interpreted themselves life during caring for dying patients with gliobalstoma, and how they integrated these experiences into their personal biographies. Methods: Three family caregivers were recruited for the study. Data were collected through a series of audio-taped unstructured interviews and conversations with participants. The interviews and observation were conducted between October and November, 2011. Data were analyzed using psychosocial analytical methods that combined case based, in-depth staged analysis of narratives. Results: The life experiences of the family caregivers with a dying family member were summarized as, in their own voices, 'the repetition of gliobalstoma,' 'a smart patient,' 'being obsessed with rehabilitation treatment,' 'the frustration from nothing but just looking at the suffering of the patient,' and 'a stubborn son'. Conclusion: Caregiving was characterised by various roles and life changes from the moment of diagnosis. Family caregivers of brain tumor reported experiences similar to those described by caregivers of people with other cancers. What differed for this group was the rapidity of change and the need for immediate information and support to assist with caring for a person with high-grade glioma.

Support was also received from the physician in charge and through self-control. The nurse, by providing empathetic support, should be a person with whom they can express their feelings and share their experiences.
