The purpose of this study is to propose a method to construct the information space of library with the resilient space and community base to cope with social changes in response to various contents of library functions. As an institution that provides the places and contents necessary for education and research, it aims to expand and change from the collection center to the user center, from the specific user center to the library that shares resources with the community, And to find ways to contribute to the revitalization of education. A library plan for communities that can increase the value of local libraries and expand user-centered space utilization is as follows; First, in terms of communities in space and programs, the program will be supplemented through the activation of cultural, entertainment, and collaborative programs and the creation of communities. Second, in terms of smart support for operational and environmental issues, the establishment of information technology and smart management operating system to expand the research productivity by efficiently utilizing mutually available data with the local community.

As functions of public library has become diversified, proper environment color plan enhancing a supporting environment of user based on a function of public library should be achieved by utilizing space chromatics which is a psychological environmental factor. Therefore, public library's color environment of each space functions should be understood and the foundation of color plan enhancing supporting environment of user should also be established under the premise that public library color environment which supports integrated functions to every local residents by meeting functional roles of library. As functions of public library expands, this study has its purpose to analyze color environment characteristics by mainly focusing on library of Busan region to study color environment supporting function of each space. Through a literature research, function and role of color, environment color have considered, and through a preceding research analysis on public library's present condition analysis and tendency of library color preference, theoretical background on library color environment has deducted. By researching present condition of environment color application at 9 public libraries located at Busan, the environment color characteristics of library has deducted through an image adjective analysis using color system, coloration analysis, IRI(Image Research Institute) color image scale. This study can be provided as a reference data for environment color plan based on spatial function to enhance supporting environment of public library user, and it is expected to utilize in the library facility plan which has been diversified.

In order to respond to changes in college's educational goals and talents, university libraries need to be transformed into spaces that support creative and collaborative learning. Apart from overseas cases, it is necessary to discuss the development of creative and collaborative learning spaces appropriate to the situation of Korean university libraries. This purpose of this study is to provide an effective guide to university libraries planning to develop creative and cooperative learning spaces. To this end, this study conducted a literature review to define the concept of a creative and collaborative learning space in a university library, collected and analyzed cases of creative and collaborative learning space of Korean university libraries, and proposed a model for developing creative and collaborative learning space for university library. Case collection was carried out through field visits to 12 university libraries. In addition, in-depth interviews were conducted with the staffs in charge of the construction and operation of five university libraries selected in consideration of the operating entity, region, and scale. This study is meaningful in that it intensively researched and analyzed the advanced cases of creative and collaborative learning spaces in Korea to derive suggestions that can be used in the field of domestic university libraries.

This study suggested improvements after analyzing the effectiveness of "A" university library. So, this study analyzed the effectiveness of E-group "A" university, and measured the effectiveness, classifying with three conditions about input & output and factors and conditions about regional categories. As a result, it is necessary to operate E-group 38 university libraries and "A" University library by increasing input factors to increase outputs. The improvements are as followings. First, it is necessary to stir up member's recognition on libraries. To this, there is a legal system for university library. Second, it is necessary to include library use education in curriculum. Third, it is necessary to prepare complex space so that the members can borrow books and use it for cultural space and rest space.

This research is to analyze the public cases of information facilities in terms of central circulations in multi level volumes such as atrium or court which provide visual intervention between different spaces and physical connections such as bridges. Hunt Library design balances the understood pre-existing needs with the University's emerging needs to create a forward-thinking learning environment. While clearly a contemporary structure within a traditional context of the NCSU campus, the Hunt Library provides a positive platform for influencing its surroundings. Both technical and programmatic innovations are celebrated as part of the learning experience and provide a versatile and stimulating environment for students. Public library as open spaces connecting to an interactive social domain over communities can provide variety of learning environments, or technology based labs. There are many cases of the public information spaces with dynamic networks where participants can play their roles in physical space as well as in the intellectual stimulation. In the research, new public projects provide typologies of information spaces with user oriented media. The research is to address a creative transition between the reading space and the experimental links of the integration of state-of-the-art technology is highly visible in the building's design. The user-friendly browsing system that replaces the traditional browsing with the virtual shelves classified and archived by their form, is to reduce the storage space of the public library and it is to allow more space for collaborative learning. In addition to the intelligent robot of information storages, innovative features is the large-scale visualization space that supports team experiments to carry out collaborative online works and therefore the public library's various programs is to provide visitors with more efficient participatory environment.

The problem of energy consumption is more serious in university buildings than primary, middle and high school buildings. Because university buildings have generally heating and cooling systems, and various incidental facilities. In university, the library is one of the building that many people use and the most energy is spent. So, investigation on energy saving is very important and urgent. This study aims finally to present the guideline for low-energy design of University library by aiding a designer to select best solution in the side of energy-saving. In this paper, composition of space, utilization schedule and performance of construction materials are grasped, some primary factors that effect to energy saving are analyzed by energy simulation. The result of this study is as follows; First, the subject library has more cooling load than heating load because of cooling load generated during middle season. Second, green roofs is the most effective to heating load saving, but not to cooling energy. Third, outdoor air cooling is the most effective to cooling energy saving among the investigated strategies included in this study.

We present a library of high spectral resolution (R ~ 40,000) and high signal-to-noise ratio (S/N ~ 200) near-infrared spectra of ~50 late-type stars. The spectra of late-type stars were obtained with Immersion GRating INfrared Spectrograph (IGRINS) covering the full H and K band. The stars are mainly from MK standard stars which have well-defined spectral types and luminosity classes and cover wide ranges of effective temperatures and surface gravities. The spectra are corrected for telluric absorption lines and absolutely flux calibrated using the Two Micron All Sky Survey (2MASS) photometry. In this work, we present the preliminary results of spectroscopic diagnostics for stellar physical parameters. Our ultimate goal is to provide a library of near-infrared spectra of standard stars, which covers all spectral types and luminosity classes, with a high spectral resolution and high signal-to-noise ratio.

By taking a bottom-up "library in the life of the user" perspective rather than a top-down "user in the life of the library" perspective, this paper uses anecdotal evidence from the past and near present to examine the multiple roles the U.S. public library plays and has played as public space in the everyday lives of its patrons. By harnessing "public sphere" theory discussed in Jurgen Habermas's THE STRUCTURAL TRANSFORMATION OF THE PUBLIC SPHERE (1989) and by the examining the rich literatures on civic life and institutions that have evolved from it, the author argues that Library and Information Studies discourse has to expand its scope to include research and analysis of "library as place" from a user's perspective if it hopes to develop a deeper understanding of what the public library does for means to members of the communities in which they reside.

University libraries need to reborn as central space of the academic activities of university at the 21st century knowledge-based society. This study conducted case study on P University libraries and explored the directivity of spatial composition to actively respond to needs of customers. To do this study, we examined the related papers in and out of Korea, visited major academic libraries in Korea and compared the cases. And we did a survey targeting the customers of P university libraries. The result of survey confirmed that the needs of customers almost correspond to the directivity of spatial composition which we found at the cases for this study. The result of this study can be some references for Korean university libraries to improve their space and do user-oriented library marketing.

Makerspace offers an innovative way for university libraries to render services and achieve its core objectives. However, there is low level of adoption in Nigerian university libraries, hence the need to investigate the personnel's perception towards makerspace as an innovative learning platform. To achieve this, the descriptive research design was used to elicit data with the aid of a structured questionnaire, from the 96 library personnel in John Harris Library, University of Benin. Of the 96 copies of questionnaire distributed, 68 copies were returned and analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results showed that the library personnel were familiar with makerspace even though they still require more information about it. Also, that makerspace gives students the opportunity to acquire ew skill and enhances collaboration among learners. Moreover, the study revealed that budget constraints, high cost and maintenance of equipments, erratic power supply and lack of staff training are some of the perceived challenges to makerspace implementation. Consequently, the study revealed that university libraries should strategize on how to increase allocation of funds, organize makerspace webinar for personnel, ensure stable electricity supply and create a dedicated space for makerspace in the library. In conclusion, makerspace will provide students with the technological exposure and creative abilities required for the future, and as such effective planning should be made for its deployment and sustainability in Nigerian university libraries.
