Detection of Ultrasonic Wave Signals Associated with Partial Discharge in XLPE (가교폴리에틸렌(XLPE)의 부분방전에 의한 초음파 검출)

  • Measurements of AE signals caused by partial discharges were performed by using an ultrasonic measurement technique to diagonise the electrical treeing deterioration in XLPE cable. We also examined the partial discharge magnitude and AE signals(peak-to-peak) with the increase of the deterioration time. From these results, it was found that AE signal due to partial discharge can be greatly detected at the peak value of positive polarities prior to the breakdown voltages, and the magnitude of AE signals was closely related to the current pulses by the increase of deterioration, and it appeared that AE signals(peak-to-peak) was proportional to partial discharge magnitude. Attenuation and time-delaying characteristics of ultrasonic signals propagated in various polymers sample by using ultrasonic oscillation and receiving systems are also reported as a basic data of ultrasonic measurements in XLPE cable.

  • In this paper, we present the position control of pendulum system which is driven by a ultrasonic motor. Since the system's response is different for each initial position of pendulum, it is difficult to obtain the satisfiable control performance by using a neural network which is learned by off-line. To overcome this problem, we propose the multiple controller based on fuzzy inference system for ultrasonic motor. and controller is designed by neural network. The proposed method shows good performance for any initial positions and it's effectiveness is verified from experiments. We expect that ultrasonic motor can be used as actuators of robot's leg or manipulator.

  • The utilization of resonance should be considered to get the maximum effect of ultrasonic to atomize liquid. The ultrasonic generator, transducer, horn, and all attached parts are used to produce the resonance, and specially the characteristics of liquids such as liquid load, property, and etc., for the liquid atomization affinity are considered. In this study, the variable device of liquid load was made and distilled water and city water selected as experimental liquids were sprayed by a twin-fluid spray method and their diameters, distributions, and spray quantum of spray droplets were measured by the light scattering system. And all data were observed, compared and considered relatively. In results, a lot of phenomena of liquid atomization affinity by ultrasonic appeared in accordance with liquid loads, namely head h.

  • This paper proposes an ultrasonic location system based on the spread spectrum principle. Compared with the existing ultrasonic location systems, the proposed system combines the spread spectrum and amplitude modulation principles. As a result, the proposed ultrasonic location system is advantageous in that it can improve positioning accuracy and detection sensitivity by the spread spectrum principle, it simplifies transmitter and receiver circuits by the amplitude modulation, and it is easy to upgrade its performance by the software functionalities. The advantages and performance of the proposed location system are demonstrated by experiments.

  • A new, high-efficiency ultrasonic fabric washing machine was developed to be an energy-efficient washing machine and to enhance fabric washing quality in washing processes of the dyeing and finishing process in the textile industry. This system is composed of ultrasonic wave generator, air blowing nozzle, torque motor for fabric tension control, and enclosed washing bath, multi-tube type exchanger, noiseless heater, air cylinder, expander roller, mangle upper and lower rollers, bend bar, dancer, shower spray nozzle, and solenoid valve, and so on. These elements are synergised for fabric washing. One of the very important principles is the low tension fabric running system. For an efficient washing effect, a counter flow system is also adopted. The new system also adopts the dancer and torque motor to control fabric tension and prevent fabric creasing. Shower spray nozzle, counter flow and overflow apparatus, and air-blowing apparatus are adopted to enhance the fabric washing effect. In this study, peach yoryu, exter, and moss crepe fabrics were washed by the general and ultrasonic washing systems under different conditions respectively. The washing efficiency was affected by the fabric running speed and characteristics of fabrics. Size content after washing increased with increasing the fabric running speed. The values in the general washing system were higher than those of the ultrasonic washing system. The changes of conductivity in the ultrasonic and the cooling bath were affected by the running time under the ultrasonic generating. The values of conductivity decreased as the experimental time passed.

  • In the semiconductor and optical industry. a new transport system which can replace the conventional transport system is required. The Transport systems are driven by the magnetic field and conveyer belts. The magnetic field may damage semiconductor and the contact force may scratch the optical lens. The ultrasonic wave driven system can solve these problems. In this semiconductor and optical industry, the non-contact system is required for reducing the damages. The ultrasonic transportation is the solution of the problem. In this paper, the ultrasonic levitation system for levitation object are proposed. The 3D vibration profiles of the beam are measured by Laser Scanning Vibrometer for verifying the vibration characteristics of the system and the amplitudes of the beam and the levitation heights of object are measured fore evaluating the performance.

  • Measurerments of ultrasonic signals caused by corona discharges were perforrred by using an ultrasonic meeasurerment technique to analyze the deve1qxrent states of coronas in a high-voltage power apparatus. We also examined the relationship between discharge magnitude and ultrasonic pulse number to diagnose the deterioration of electrical insulation by corona discharges. From these results, it was found that ultrasonic signals due to corona discharges can be firstly detected at the peak value of positive polarities prior to the breakdown voltages, and the magnitude of ultrasonic signals was closely related to the current pulses by the corona discharges when ac voltages were gradually raised, and it appeared that ultrasonic pulse number was proportional to discharge magnitude. Attenuation, tirre-delaying and directivity charocteristics of ultrasonic signals propagated to air by using ultrasonic oscillation and receiving systems are feJXlrt.ed as a basic data of ultrasonic measurements in out-door HV apparatus.aratus.

  • This paper proposes an auto-parking controller for omnidirectional mobile robots. The controller uses the multi-sensor system including ultrasonic sensor and camera. The several ultrasonic sensors of robot detect the distance between robot and each wall of the parking lot. The camera detects the global position of robot by capturing the image of artificial landmarks. To improve the accuracy of position estimation, we applied the extended Kalman filter with adaptive fuzzy controller. Also we developed the fuzzy control system to reduce the settling time of parking. The experimental results are presented to verify the usefulness of the proposed controller.

  • In order to increase the autonomous navigation capability of a mobile robot, it is very crucial to develop a method for the robot to be able to recognize a priori hon structured environmental characteristics. This paper proposes an ultrasonic sensor based real-time method for recognizing a priori known structured indoor environmental characteristics like a wall and comer Unlike the methods reported in the literature the information obtained from the sensor can be processed in real-time by extended Kalman filter to update estimations of the position and orientation of robot with respect to known environmental characteristics.

  • To secure resources, submarine environment should be firstly explored. On that occasion, the withdrawal of the instrument is important and the submarine ultrasonic wave should be stably identified regardless submarine environment and passive factor. In the existing control methods, the control informations, received from an observation instrument, are identified used by hardware and repeatedly compared with standard information. Hereupon, a marine observation instrument remote control system using the combination of FSK and ASK that was improved its controllability and movability was presented in this paper. Likewise, the logicality of communication algorithm were ascertained by experiments.
