The Research for USN Applications of Parking Guidance and Information System (주차안내정보시스템의 USN기술 적용을 위한 연구)

  • Parking guidance and information systems have been introduced to response the inefficient and inconvenience use of parking facilities. While advanced countries have reached effective use of parking guidance information system, the Republic of Korea has yet suffered from the lack of full use of advanced technologies. This study proposes an algorithm designed for a systems utilizing the USN technologies. A field test was performed. The test results showed that information from the proposed system is much reliable when compared to the one from the existing.

The Study on U-Service Priority for Low-Income People Using AHP (계층화분석법을 이용한 저소득층 u-서비스 적용 우선순위에 관한 연구)

  • u-City(ubiquitous city) pursuing competitiveness of city and improvement the quality of life needs high cost to build and operate it. But not all people get a benefit by u-City. It is important that low-income people have experienced information divide gain practical benefits in u-City. In this paper, first we selected suitable item of u-service for low-income people and then drew a order of priority using AHP method about legal and institutional conditions, possibility of technical realization, and the generalization. As a result, we prioritize to u-service for low-income people, that is the order is prevention for missing a dotard, safety of street, and information providing about job and employment.

  • The disabled and elderly people have a wide variety of functional impairments. By disability and elderly user group definition, identification of users needs and specification of content requirements were studied. Existing technologies including location, navigation and information exchange devise and communication systems were analyzed to design proper integrated system for indoor and outdoor uses. There are two types of services considered in the project: assisted living services(ALS) including health and emergency needs and assisted mobility services(AMS) with transportation needs. To develop each content, content identification and requirements was studied through interviews and expert consultations. System requirements and specification using usecase technique for disabled and elderly people are discussed.

Kinesin Superfamily KIF5 Proteins Bind to ${\beta}III$ Spectrin

  • The kinesin proteins (KIFs) make up a large superfamily of molecular motors that transport cargo such as vesicles, protein complexes, and organelles. KIF5 is a heterotetrameric motor that conveys vesicles and plays an important role in neuronal function. Here, we used the yeast two-hybrid system to identify the neuronal protein(s) that interacts with the tail region of KIF5 and found a specific interaction with ${\beta}III$ spectrin. The amino acid residues between 1394 and 1774 of ${\beta}III$ spectrin were required for the interaction with KIF5C. ${\beta}III$ spectrin also bound to the tail region of neuronal KIF5A and ubiquitous KIF5B but not to other kinesin family members in the yeast two-hybrid assay. In addition, these proteins showed specific interactions, confirmed by GST pull-down assay and co-immunoprecipitation. ${\beta}III$ spectrin interacted with GST-KIF5 fusion proteins, but not with GST alone. An antibody to ${\beta}III$ spectrin specifically co-immunoprecipitated KIF5s associated with ${\beta}III$ spectrin from mouse brain extracts. These results suggest that KTF5 motor proteins transport vesicles or organelles that are coated with ${\beta}III$ spectrin.

A Novel Method for Estimating Representative Section Travel Times Using Individual Vehicle Trajectory Data (개별차량 주행정보를 이용한 차로별 구간대표통행시간 산출기법)

  • This study proposes a methodology for estimating representative section travel times using individual vehicle travel information under the ubiquitous transportation environment (UTE). A novel approach is to substantialize a concept of dynamic node-links in processing trajectory data. Also, grouping vehicles was conducted to obtain more reliable travel times representing characteristics of individual vehicle travels. Since the UTE allows us to obtain higher accuracy of vehicle positions, travel times for each lane can be estimated based on the proposed methodology. Evaluation results show that less than 10% of mean absolute percentage error was achievable with 20% of probe vehicle rate. It is expected that outcome of this study is useful for providing more accurate and reliable traffic information services.

  • In this paper, we studied line coding technology tendency for high speed data communication at LED-ID (Identification) communication system in indoor environment. A LED-ID technology is a communication using visible ray (RGB) that come out in LED device. It is energy curtailment effect and possible in ubiquitous network service applications. The LED-ID system has the above advantages about that the communication throughout the whole room is enabled by high power lighting and lighting equipment with white colored LED which are easy to install and have good outward appearance. Therefore, the transmission by light waves is more suitable for wireless networks than by radio waves. We compared with the NRZ, AMI, 4B5B, HDB3, 8B10B line coding for efficient in error detection and serves data transmission of high speed.

High Efficiency Rectenna for Wireless Power Transmission Using Harmonic Suppressed Dual-mode Band-pass Filter (고조파 억압 이중모드 대역통과 여파기를 이용한 2.45 GHz 고효율 렉테나 설계)

  • In this paper, a high efficiency 2.45 GHz rectenna with a microstrip patch antenna and a dual-mode band-pass filter in which the 2nd and 3rd harmonics are suppressed, is presented. From the experimental results, the 2.45GHz rectenna using 3rd harmonic suppressed dual-mode BPF shows the conversion efficiency of 41.6% with incident power density of 0.3 mW/cm2 and the received power of 1.66 mW. This result shows high conversion efficiency because the received power of this rectenna is lower than other rectennas to be compared with. This rectenna can be applied to the WPT (Wireless Power Transmission) field for energy harvesting. Also, it is expected to be used to provide the stand-by power for the low power devices for USN, and wireless power transfer in sensor application of MEMS devices.

  • Nowaday, in Korea, many u-City projects have been developed as a core business in the new town development project by national or local level of government. However, the new business projects have some problems, such as excessive number of u-services, increased project funds and period, and lower u-services due to lack of u-service evaluation methodologies. Therefore, this paper proposes a new u-service evaluation methodology to solve current problems. The methodology gives an ability to guard general u-service groups for reaching the main goal of the u-City project, and then select alternative u-service groups against being limited by the law and technology in the project year. Besides, as a key variable on performing u-City plans, the complexity between stakeholders is considered in the methodology. Finally, through the Optimal Sequential Method in the methodology, the maximum value of u-service group is obtained as a optimal service group of u-City.

  • This study presented an algorithm to detect zigzag driving maneuver that is highly associated with vehicle crash occurrence. In general, the zigzag driving results from the driver's inattention including drowsy driving and driving while intoxicated. Therefore, the technology to detect such unsafe driving maneuver will provide us with a valuable opportunity to prevent crash in the road. The proposed detection algorithm used angular velocity data obtained from a gyro sensor. Performance evaluations of the algorithm presented promising results for the actual implementation in practice. The outcome of this study can be used as novel information contents under the ubiquitous transportation systems environment.

  • Measurements of network traffic have shown that self-similarity is a ubiquitous phenomenon spanning across diverse network environments. We have advance the framework of multiple time scale congestion control and show its effectiveness at enhancing performance for fast TCP prototype control. In this paper, we extend the fast TCP prototype control framework to window-based congestion control, in particular, TCP. This is performed by interfacing TCP with a large time scale control module which adjusts the aggressiveness of bandwidth consumption behavior exhibited by TCP as a function of "large time scale" network state. i.e., conformation that exceeds the horizon of the feedback loop as determined by RTT. Performance evaluation of fast TCP prototype is facilitated by a simulation bench-mark environment which is based on physical modeling of self-similar traffic. We explicate out methodology for discerning and evaluating the impact of changes in transport protocols in the protocol stack under self-similar traffic conditions. We discuss issues arising in comparative performance evaluation under heavy-tailed workload. workload.
