For efficient soil water management in open fields, the proper use of soil moisture sensors is a prerequisite. Particularly in open-field environments like orchards with extensive root systems, the appropriate positioning of sensors is very important. The present study was conducted to identify the optimal placement of soil moisture sensors by assessing changes in soil water potential across various positions within orchard field soils after installing tensiometers. In apple and Asian pear orchards located in two regions of Korea, nine soil water potential sensors (TEROS 21, METER Group) were installed at distances of 20, 40, and 60 cm from the tree trunk and depths of 10, 20, and 30 cm from the soil surface, and monitored the soil water potential changes over two years. Results indicated that the positions closer to the tree trunk and the soil surface exhibited more pronounced changes in soil water potential. The greatest magnitude of change in soil water potential was observed at a distance of 20 cm and a depth of 10 cm, suggesting this position as the most suitable for soil moisture sensor installation. However, variations in the degree and pattern of changes in soil water potential were noted across sensor positions due to root system growth over time. Therefore, periodic observation and adjustments in sensor placement would be advisable to accurately monitor the soil moisture condition in long-term crops such as fruit trees in open fields.
The study was undertaken to present the quantitative materials available in underwater industries, underwater rehabilitation & physical training through comparison & analysis of effects contributing to propulsion of COG by types of fin-kick in underwater activities. For this 3D cinematography was performed for the skilled subjective and conclusions obtained on the basis of analysis of kinematic variables were as follows. In temporal variable the delay in the order of flutter>side>dolphin kick in elapsed time by total & phase resulted in longer sliding phase by larger fin kick of extension & flexion of both leg and thus more contributed in propulsion of COG. than those of the otherwise. In linear variable the contribution ratio to the result of propulsion of COG in both propulsive(mean $35.39{\pm}7.93cm$ in Y axis) and sliding phases(mean $66.36{\pm}11.01cm$ in Y axis)was shown to be order of flutter>dolphin>side fin kick. the maximum velocity of COG in Y direction was showed in both propulsive and sliding phases, and the contribution ratio to the propulsion of COG was in the order of flutter$\geq$dolphin>side fin kick. In angular variable the Significant difference in angle of leg joint by types of fin kick in both leg was showed but no routine order. The Significant difference in angular velocity of leg joint by types of fin kick in both leg was showed in the order of flutter>dolphin$\geq$side fin kick in propulsive but no in sliding phase. The Fluid resistance by tilting angle of trunk in both propulsive and sliding phase was decreased in the order of flutter>dolphin$\geq$side fin kick and tilting angle of trunk of the skilled was smaller than that of the unskilled in difference of maximum mean 7.97degree and minium mean 2.06degree. In summary of the above, It will desirable fin kick type because of more contribution to COG propulsion by the velocity & displacement in Y-axis and less fluid resistance by tilting angle of trunk and larger angular velocity in the case of more delayed in elapsed time of propulsive phase than that of the otherwise.
The purpose of this study was to investigate propulsive time and kinematic variables on the three different kinds of the basketball wheelchairs in each play position for eight abled basketball wheelchair players. Kinematic data were collected by a video camera for two-dimensional analysis. The wheelchairs for the guard position showed the fastest in total propulsive time. The wheelchairs for the center position revealed the slowest in the phase of the change of the direction. The wheelchair for the guard position which shows fast movement velocity demonstrated closer hand contact with TDC(Top Dead Center). The wheelchair for the center position revealed the largest extension of the elbow and flexion of the trunk at handrim contact. The wheelchair for the guard position which has the lowest seat height presented larger elbow angle and trunk angle. The wheelchair for the guard position produced more fast trunk angular velocity than the wheelchair for other positions.
Background: The purpose of this study was to systematic review the effect of exercise programs for chronic low back pain patients. We needs systematic development of low back pain exercise program to reduce economic cost further doing great service to public health promotion. Methods: We searched to the effects of exercise programs for chronic low back pain patients by Dankook University electronic library databases of DBPIA, KSI KISS, CINAHL, MEDLINE and PEDro combined with a hand search of papers published in relevant journals. Any type of study relevant to the topic published during time period from 1970 to 2007 was included. Results: The literature search identified 30 studies. 1.Performing the flexion exercise increased abdominal muscle activity but acute herniated intervertebral disc should be avoided. 2.The general lumbar extension exercise used lumbar extension machine and the muscle power increases, significant probability the change. 3.The spinal segments exercise for the patients offered significant efficacy and appeared to be a reasonable therapeutic option. 4.Spinal stabilization exercises appear to improve trunk endurance and balance to patients with chronic low back pain. This exercise programs had effective decrease pain and disability. Conclusion: The review suggests that although the exercise programs for chronic low back pain patients, and we expected the efficacy of the exercise programs for chronic low back pain patients used in this study should be further investigated in a long period study and objective outcomes.
This study which was conducted on male tennis player on one hand(OH) & two hand(TH) backhand stroke and how both motion differed on low extremity movement with each feature analyzed in detail, the result as follow. The motion of TH based on resultant velocity, appeared to be a higher than OH, which was important variable in determining the ball speed. Contrary to TH where the player minimized the motion in the lower body and finalized a stroke through the turn of the trunk as if sticking the ball closed to the body, OH was carried out such that the player appeared to chase the ball. Whereas in OH, the knee joint extension moment was not found to be larger than TH, the opposite result came out for abduction moment and internal rotation moment. In the case of hip joint, consisted of extension, abduction and internal rotation moment, the outcome emerged to be greater for TH with conspicuous difference in abduction moment. Flection moment for TH overwhelmed in TH though both adduction and external rotation moment brought about similar outcome for both strokes.
Purpose: This study was performed to investigate outbreak, treatment, and lifestyle in children with atopic dermatitis (AD) for developing a health promotion education program. Method: Data were collected from 2,920 children with AD in preschool and elementary schools in K city. Result: The majority of children (43.75%) were onset in less than 1 yr after the birth. The locations of skin lesion were face, extension of extremities, and flextion of extremities, neck and trunk. The types of treatment were complement therapies, and medical treatment such as pediatrics and dermatology. Their parents chose a type of treatment for their children. Of complement therapies, the most common type was aroma oil. Herbal medicine was the most eating type among complement therapies. In lifestyle, the preferred bathing method was shower. In applying moisturizer, the most common time was within 3 min after bath. The highest frequency of taking instant/processed diet was 1-2 times per week and the most preferred type was pork. Conclusion: A Health promotion educational program with AD in preschool and elementary school children should included a specificity of disease, the recent treatment guideline, life therapy and evidenced complement therapy by child and family unit for the promotion of their health.
Objectives : The purpose of this study is to observe the effects of work environment and low back pain on the structural and muscle strength changes in lumbar spine to helpful for preventation and cure of low back pain. Methods : Through measuring of lumbosacral angle, lumbar lordotic angle, lumbar gravity line ratio analyzed structure of lumbar spine and using Trunk Extension Flexion Program of CYBEX NORM System(cybex770+TMC, USA) analyzed Flex. PT, Ext. PT, E/F ratio of lumbar spine of company employees given a medical examination. Results : According to work environment, lumbar gravity line ratio is higher in white collar group than in blue collar group, Ext. PT is significantly lower in white collar group than in blue collar group. According to low back pain or not, lumbar gravity line ratio, Ext. PT is lower in low back pain group than in non-low back pain group. Conclusions : Work environment and low back pain effects on the structural and muscle strength changes in lumbar spine.
Purpose: Flatfeet are one of the risk factors of foot dysfunction and postural imbalance. The purpose of this study was to compare the limitation of stability (LOS) for the center of gravity (COG) between flatfeet and neutral feet on stable and unstable support surfaces. Methods: The study included 26 healthy, adult male participants: 14 with normal feet and 12 with flatfeet. The subjects were asked to incline the trunk maximumly to the left, right, anterior, and posterior directions and were asked to keep their feet on the floor with the knee extension. The subjects had 30 seconds of rest time between the tasks. The LOS (anterior, posterior, left, right) of COG was measured by Balance Trainer (BT4, Hur-labs, Tampere, Finland). An independent t- test was used to compare the LOS of COG between flatfeet and normal feet on stable and unstable support surfaces, respectively. Results: The LOS of the flatfeet group was generally decreased on stable support surfaces as compared to that of neutral feet, but it was not significantly different (p>0.05), while the LOS of the flatfeet group was significantly decreased compared to that of neutral feet on unstable support surfaces (p<0.05). Conclusion: This study suggested that the LOS of individuals with flatfeet may be decreased on unstable support surfaces and the postural balance of the flatfeet group may easily be disturbed on an unstable support surface.

Dynamic postural control varies with the environmental context, specific task and intentions of the subject. In this paper, dynamic postural control against forward-backward perturbations of a platform was estimated using tri-axial accelerometers and a force plate. Ten young healthy volunteers stood upright in comfortable condition on the perturbation system which was controlled by an AC servo motor. With anterior-posterior perturbations, movements of ankle, knee and hip Joints were obtained by tri-axial accelerometers. and ground reaction forces with corresponding displacements of the center of pressure(CoP) by the force plate. The result showed that the ankle moved first and the trunk forward, which implies that the mechanism of the dynamic postural control in forward-backward perturbations, occurred in the procedure of the ankle, the knee and the hip. Knee flexion and hip extension in the period of acceleration, constant velocity and deceleration phase is very important fur the balance recovery. These responses depends on the magnitude and timing of the perturbation. From the present study the accelerometry-system appears to be a promising tool for understanding kinematic accelerative In response to a transient platform perturbation. A more through understanding of balance recovery mechanism may aid in designing methods for reducing falls and the resulting injuries.
Shinbundang-line is new Metropolitan Railway which was invested by private capital and is under construction for opening in 2010. Now Shinbundang-line pursues various innovation, for example, an express train which uses long distance of each station, and an unmanned operation. And it may be independent of existing metropolitan railway system from a viewpoint of line and fare system. So according to the present plan, Shinbundang-line will be not able to get sufficient demand because of weak connection with existing lines and monotonous function of the line. And it may be difficult to deliver various innovation which Shinbundang-line prepares to passengers. Hereupon, in this paper, I propose 3 methods for increasing competitive power of Shinbundang-line railway. First, making Shinbundang-line a trunk railway line of southern metropolitan area was proposed in relation to northern and southern extension of it. In addition connection with bus and light rail was discussed. Second, multipurpose usage of Shinbundang-line was proposed as express train and conventional passenger train in that line in addition to simple metropolitan railway. Finally, an effective operation method which Shinbundang-line must have was proposed from unmanned driving and fare system side. These methods can improve Shinbundang-line and then it will solve traffic congestion of southern metropolitan area effectively.
